My grandfather passed away last week. He took me to see this movie in theaters when I was 15. I am an avid movie lover, and my grandfather was not. Not that he disliked movies, or didnt watch them, he just didnt enjoy them like I do and he didnt watch them as often as I do. But the fact that he kind of went out of his comfort zone to do something that I enjoyed is something I'll always remember. 6:51 This moment is honestly the saddest part. Kong knows that he can't win this battle, yet he decides that he's not going down without a fight and is willing to make one last stand.
Def is the saddest part, especially because u could tell kong knew that was his last stand, that’s also why I think he puts so much emotion into the roar, because he’s telling them, you’ve hurt me, an u may kill me,but i will not go down being weak, it’s also why as the plans get closer he dosent try to attack again he keeps pounding his chest, his animal instincts are making him say i am the dominant one u are not even tho I may not make it out of this, cause really when he gets done hitting that last plane u can tell he knows something’s wrong especially when he puts his hand on his heart, most likely signifying that his heart was bleeding slowly, because most people think the first couple of shots from the planes killed him, when in reality is was the blood loss from the first couple volleys of shots but also that last volley that hit him in the back clearly made the bleeding worse, because u can hear it in his grunts how weak he’s getting even up to his last breathe before he fell

The moment the light in his eyes goes out after that one final look at his beloved always hits me like a ton of bricks. "It was beauty killed the beast." No. It was your goddamn f*cking greed, you a-hole.
I agree with u, fully, although I think really what put the nail in his coffin sorta speak, was those shots he took to the back, I think that opened up even more bleeding into his heart, cause I think maybe the first volley only did enough damage to make him bleed very slowly because even tho we can see his strength slowly diminish he had enough strength to do all the damage he did, n he was ready to fight till he was on the ground, that’s also why his last roar always makes me cry because u can actually hear the emotion in it

Is anyone gonna mention how much of a badass Anne is in this version of King Kong!!! She’s always running and trying to help Kong, but in the original Anne didn’t do much of anything other than scream lol
It’s probably because the original Ann Darrow (Faye Wray) was terrified. And rightfully so. People are so quick to read something into things. A huge ape kidnaps you and takes you into the deep jungle. There was no place safe there. This Ann Darrow was a fool. How could she scream and try to save that ape while all her human friends were being annihilated trying to save HER! Did she feel safer sleeping in the hand of a giant funky ape with danger all around, than she would be lying on silk sheets in New York? Made no sense. The movie would have worked as well or better if she had played it terrified. He was a massive wild animal people!! What’s love got to do with it?
@Milkyway2099 what do you call someone who falls in love with their kidnapper? Don’t they call it Stockholm Syndrome. You would have to be sick to do that. Especially an APE! The hell that she went through was all attributable to that ape. She didn’t do anything “bada__”. I Unless you call standing on the top of the Empire State Bldg while they rain bullets down on you “bada__”. I call it suicidal. She just joins the ranks of all the latter-day heroines. Thrust into situations where they’re actions make no sense, but it’s really all about the outcome. The real bad man was Driscoll (Adrian Brody). He traipsed across that island (unarmed) to save her ungrateful rear end. She was not heroic. She was a fool.
6:51 at this point this was heart breaking, he did like a roaring-cry, he knew he can't win, he took down 3 of them, there was 3-2 of them left, Kong knew he couldn't make it through the battle, i hope there is a Movie, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Alternate Ending, where Kong survives and wins, but if they call the Alternate Ending a Actual Real and True ending, Kong surely won, but, that scene is no where there, Kong still made progress, he almost made it to live, but that fighter plane ruined everything, that's what killed him, and mad him fall, honestly, he is very durable, i didn't see a broken bone of him
That roar was def sad af cause he did know I’m not making it out, but also he knew it wasn’t just the number of planes he knew he was bleeding out he could tell by the way he was stumbling an tired, but he still pounded his paws on the top of the building an that roar said u may kill me but I will not go out showing u I’m weak on the contrary!
I always liked how great of a remake this is in the fact that it’s a great modernization of the original. It didn’t feel lazy and managed to be loyal to the source material while increasing the overall “scale” of everything, you know?
This is kind of scene that makes real men cry. I watched this movie a long time ago and wasn't really paying attention to anything, then I went back and watched this scene and this time is the time it made me emotional, Although it's just a movie, this just reflects the little amount of care people have for animals like this. The selfishness of these people caused this undeserving gentle giant to lose its life.
Also let's not forget they shot what looked to be a mounted mortar at kong , missed and destroyed the corner of a building with who knows how many people in it. 😧 Also also rip harambe
I love the little detail where Kong realizes he's actually been properly injured by the humans. Like "Oh shit, these tiny creatures actually have the capacity to kill me." and even lets the first plane pass because of the shock. Only to be more determined than ever to fight to his last breath. Absolute badass.
I remember seeing this in the theater when I was 10, and I felt my heart drop when this scene happened. It was beautiful and heart shattering at the same time, never experienced anything like that at the time. Best remake ever.
I can't be the only one who wanted Kong to win that battle with the planes. That ending still gets me:( I agree with the other user. They didn't have to kill him.
This movie will always be dear to me because it was released on my birthday in December & I went to go see it with my mom. I cried & this scene still makes me cry.
This movie ALWAYS makes me cry, no matter how many times I watch it. Almost everyone saw Kong as just a dumb, perverted monster, when he was truly a gentle, loving creature who only did the things he did in order to protect Ann, the one thing that genuinely cared about him. He even looks APOLOGETIC towards Ann as he was dying, almost like he's sorry that he made her so sad or that he didn't do enough for her. If you ask me this movie is as much a Tragedy as it is an Epic 🥺😔
Same here, brother. One of the first movies I actually watched when I was a kid in theaters. This movie got me to love giant monsters, dinosaurs, action, filmmaking and of course.... King Kong himself. I appreciate this movie for making me who I am today.
When I was little i cried watching this moment and I watch this scene again then cried again...kong save her many times. He don't deserve to die like this ..
They had the technology and budget to make a masterpiece. I thought I would see the movie I had longed for for decades. There are scenes that were awe inspiring. But at the end of the day it was ludicrous. This city girl for whatever reason (perhaps Stockholm syndrome) at the point when Driscoll reaches out to save her hesitates. As if she felt some kind of bond with the ape. This man crossed that hellish island UNARMED to rescue her and she hesitates. Ludicrous. Not to mention the horrors she had seen. First hand. What kind of future would she have on that island??!! She would find no help with natives, the t-rexs, giant spiders, centipedes, etc. When I think about it, my first order of business after reaching the walled city would have been to put my foot somewhere. Ridiculous. Yes the ape rescued you. He wouldn’t have had to had he not taken you. Ridiculous. All that money to make a lame “love story about a huge stinking ape. Can’t you even imagine the smell!! They did the same thing with Superman!!
Awwz it makes me sad to see that look on kong face when he first gets shot in his chest and he kinda realizes that he's fighting against forces that he's never seen or experienced before... he was afraid but tried his best to be brave till the end :(
The first time I saw this as a kid I remember literally throwing a tantrum and crying so much xD. Love this movie and still touches me till this very day. Thank you Peter Jackson and the whole crew for making such a masterpiece of a movie I got to experience in my lifetime ❤️
This movie is one of the greatest, most emotional thrill rides I have ever seen. My hat’s off to Peter Jackson and the rest of the crew who put together such a masterpiece!
This is the remake I grew up with, rewatched 1000 times, and played the video game for at least 100 times. This film captivated me as a child and I was and am still obsessed. Nothing will ever top this.
Pay close attention to Ann and Kong's final interaction at 9:08-9:20. The sun's position in the sky is being reflected in Kong's eyes, and the reflection gradually begins to diminish as he weakens. Thus, we can essentially pinpoint the moment Kong's soul left his body just by watching the lamps of his eyes dimming and darkening.
Yeah they did a CGI Artists react where they intentionally did that to show to the audience that life was leaving him, even if it isn't necessarily something that happens in real life, its more symbolic
This is definitely one of the best remakes ever made IMO. Universal, If you read this, this is one of the best movies of the 2000’s and still is 15 years later. Good job.
I'm glad that by the time Kong died, he at least had his beloved girl comforting him. It must've given him some pleasure at his last moments. Rest in peace, king.

@@optimusmike8680 wow... True

I love the little detail where Kong realizes he's actually been properly injured by the humans.
Like "Oh shit, these tiny creatures actually have the capacity to kill me." and even lets the first plane pass because of the shock.
Only to be more determined than ever to fight to his last breath. Absolute badass.

At the time of 2000's it has an amazing cgi you can truly see the emotion in kong's eyes in this scene of the movie is just sad and a masterpiece.

You just called everyone you’ve ever known cruel.
not humans. A human was cruel enough to bring it out of it environment.
