  • Crochet this Shrug from Lion Brand,. It is a free crochet pattern, download available. In this video you will learn how to crochet this beautiful shrug. I have included Spanish subtitles for Spanish speaking viewers. This shrug is made using Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in Candy Apple and a large size N hook so it works up really fast.
Don't be intimidated by the photo, this IS a beginner project. I take you step by step and teach you how to crochet, fold, sew and finish your project.
What's great about this yarn aside from the fact that it feels super soft and chunky is it's great texture. The shrug is an easy level project ideal for beginners. The English written pattern is available as a free download at www.lionbrand.com. You will need to set up a user account to download but downloading is free. The yarn can be purchased in a variety of colors from Joanne's, Michael's, LionBrand.com and most crafting and fabric stores. This chunky 5 weight yarn works up very quickly and the finished shrug is soft and very warm. If you want to purchase supplies used in this video online here are the links:

A friend crocheted one for me for Christmas last year and used a wool blend yarn. I absolutely love it in our Ohio winter. It adjusts well with temperature so I don't get overheated, but it keeps my back and everything else comfortable. I realized that it's slouchy enough I can even pull it up as a hood if I need it in a pinch. I'd love to make one myself so thanks so much for your tutorial. God bless you!

I made one of these a while back to wear at my cold office. Lightweight, forgiving, but very warm and very little upkeep needed. Makes a nice one size fits all gift for others and not expensive to make.

Thank you from London, UK. I so appreciate how you explained that the loop left on the crochet needle when counting your chain, is NOT part of the chain, a mistake I have been making.from day one. I am a learner and find your video's very helpful. Thank you again.

I made this and am so very happy to say it came out perfect! I love it! I used the Lion Brand Homespun in Mediterranean. Found it on sale and since I haven’t crocheted in ages, I didn’t want to spend the money for the red. The red is gorgeous and I may have to make another. Thank you for your concise instructions.
