Crying at Jack showing us like stories about love, joy, and identity, and then Dakota showing us the most depraved books a person can read. Queen and King of Booktube honestly. (Happy to say my taste leans towards Dakota's)
Dakota's all giggly reading the books' blurb that sound like the true crime tiktok sound that goes "her arms were cut off, her legs were cut off, her ears..."
Perfume was actually Kurt Cobain’s favourite novel, he’s written a song inspired by it called ‘scentless apprentice “ definitely cool to listen to while you read the book
I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but for some reason Jacks videos help me focus. As someone with ADHD every time I pop one of these videos on while I am doing something I stay perfectly focused. Maybe that says something about Jacks ability to make engaging and easy to follow videos. Also, man single handedly revived my hobby of reading books not just buying them.
He is my comfort youtuber, I fall asleep on his videos when i struggle with bad thoughts at night. I also started reading because of him ( never really having been into reading before).
After watching so many Jack Edwards videos where he is alone in his space, it feels really weird to see him share space with someone. Good weird, though. Chaos max 😂
The oboe is one of the most beautiful sounding instruments out there, and one of the most important in the orchestra as its A tunes the orchestra. Listen to Gabriel's oboe to find out.
@@amartyasingh6295 the quality of the writing fell off. The plot seemed to demand a different writer so when things get “spicy” it almost feels like a television show that got a new show runner or new writers.
Perfume is one of the greatest stories of all time that also has a nearly perfect movie adaptation. You should definitely watch the movie after reading it, you're going to love it!
I've never read anything like Suskind's Perfume before. It's utterly, brilliant. And the movie adaptation, oh boy, that was also something else. (in a good way)
I read the book in school years ago and then watched the movie. It’s almost ten years ago and i still can’t say if I liked it or not. But frequently and randomly ask myself that 😂
It's a strange feeling for me when it comes to that movie, it's an amazing movie don't get me wrong but compared to the book it really, I mean it could never capture the senses intricacies the book had
@@tamaragutbrod2130 it's so bizarre to me that they make you read it for school, like it's a traumatic and weird book, wtf? why is it in the curriculum? Just cause it's old?
An oboe is a beautiful double-reeded woodwind instrument. Look up Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony oboe solo to hear its sound. Also these book sets are fabulous! Perfume is so beautifully crafted that a number of the sensory descriptions still live in my head especially from the fireworks scene, despite the terrifying content.
for some reason, I thought the background noise would begin to bother me but it was actually really nice, and I loved the noises of the city while they talked about their passion
You know you are too old for Jack's channel when they think the 80's is really really old!🤣 FYI I was a kid in the 80's and last time I checked I'm definitely not dead...yet!
LOL, as a former oboist (whose father always threatened to take me with him on his duck hunting trips - no, I wasn’t very good), I’m 100% positive you’ve heard one.
I thought If We Were Villains is better on audio. There's a lot of Shakespeare in there and its done to perfection as a play by the characters. Love this book!
Crying at Jack showing us like stories about love, joy, and identity, and then Dakota showing us the most depraved books a person can read. Queen and King of Booktube honestly. Happy to say my taste leans towards Dakota's
jack i NEED a none of this is serious review from you so bad. i saw you rated it two stars on instagram and i just need to see the perspective of another person who didnt enjoy this book. every bookshop in ireland that ive walked into in the past couple of months has had this on their bestsellers shelves but i HATED IT. i need to hear a voice to validate my perspective here because it seems like everyones obsessed at the moment
I'm so excited to see what Dakota thinks of "Perfume". I've seen the film and well it's safe to say it was something. But if she likes the book I might just read it as well
jake I am BEGGING ON MY KNEES for you to do a video on books from brazilian literature (Clarice Lispector, Machado de Assis and millions others, I can give some recommendations if you'd like)
Süßkind was actually pronounced correctly in the beginning, yes the dots are important Also, an information for anyone without an 'ü', dont just write 'u', but rather 'ue'
Hi Edward (and Dakota, and whoever reads this) I'd love to see you read the book "apple tree yard" i was really intriuged by it but I can't read books with sex scenes because i can't deal with them in my head but it's a really cool concept, it's a thriller/crime book about this woman (she's the narrator), which is pretty common but twist it's 2nd pov, she talks to *you* the reader, about what happened and stuff, it's very cool concept and I'd love to see people I follow (and look up to) read and rate it, because i might pick it up again if it's good
omggg perfume is such an amazing book, i feel like both of u would love it!!! was so so good i need to reread it. also fun fact it was kurt cobains favourite book hahhaha. love ur guys energy together!!!
my attention span in this video hahaha nothing was getting between me and those delicious figs
Figs being the best fruit of the summer
Lady, may we please be granted a vlog from this retreat?
watching ur face while jack was reading the blurbs made my day
But let's be honest, figs are the most dark academia fruit one can find!
I wish I was the fig

Love that we all think in tiktok sounds now haha
THEIR VIBE IS EVERYTHING IM OBSESSED, WE NEED A PODCAST, A BOOK, A POSTER ANYTHING I CAN GET FROM YOU.
YESS
you both complement each other so well!! your personalities and styles both bounce off of each other perfectly
6:00 I love how Jack is always looking at Dakota but she is only focused on those figs. 😂 Love the video 😁 And Milk Fed sounds super intriguing.
Perfume was actually Kurt Cobain’s favourite novel, he’s written a song inspired by it called ‘scentless apprentice “ definitely cool to listen to while you read the book
i read itt for him
but the song screamsssssssss

I usually feel the same but Dakota was so distracting in this!
Dakota and Jack. The Chaotic Booktuber Duo that have iconic laughing fits we love watching.
I genuinely love this friendship and I love every bit of it.
It’s so funny that the perfume is so unknown in England haha in Germany it is a big classic that you even read in school. :)
In welchen Bundesland lebst du? Unsre Bücherauswahl war immer …. Joar nh

Perfume is honestly my favorite book of all time at this point, saying that I'm obsessed would still be an understatement
I feel that way about the first half of the book.
Same
@@Fivetimesthree lol whT happened with the last half
same!!!

The amount of serotonin this gives me is bigger than the book I’m reading right

I am from Croatia(Zagreb) and I am soooo happy you visited us💚

Much like the blurb of None of this is serious, I too was waiting for “something, ANYTHING, to happen” while I was reading it
Perfume is my favourite book of all time and I hold it so close to my heart! It’s soo strange and abstruse and making you try to smell so much!
honestly ngl but if i did not know for the better I'd think you both filmed this while y'all were drunk😂😂 it's so adorable and funny and lovely ahhh.
I read Perfume when I was in middle school, and I loved it. Looking back, perhaps not the most appropriated age, but oh well.. Still loved it
Me, who has seen the perfume movie, seeing Dakota picked it up not knowing anything about it: oh boy 🙂

Should I read the book?:)
I had to read the book for school and I hated it. It was strange and nothing happens in the middle of the book, it could have been 100pages shorter

I am gonna watch this in a year from now. And then be looking at jack saying "boy you are holding your favourite book and you have no idea"
I said summer you said summertime sadness 💀💀💀💀
You two make the best duo !! I can tell !! Thank youfor sharing your love for books 💞💞💞kisses to you lady dakota warren and Jack !!
perfume is absolutely FANTASTIC one of my favorite books ever
for some reason, I thought the background noise would begin to bother me but it was actually really nice, and I loved the noises of the city while they talked about their passion
I was looking for new vids of you two earlier. This was such a great suprise, after getting home from work:)
Now THIS is my favourite duo
I want to say jack you're a huge inspiration and you're the best book youtuber out there
I was missing this content from this channel so much!
I read Perfume in my german class in school and I loved it so much. I hope Dakota will enjoy it 🙂🖤
perfume is an absolute treasure, i’ve never read a book that sings olfaction so vividly before
I love the combination of the two of you! Great vibes! Was scared for a second because the video was gone . Enjoy yall's evening
perfume both intrigued and traumatised me, never read anything quite like it before or since
I've missed you, Jack. Lovely to see a video.

If We Were Villians is so good, even when you reread it you notice new thing ab it
You know you are too old for Jack's channel when they think the 80's is really really old!🤣 FYI I was a kid in the 80's and last time I checked I'm definitely not dead...yet!
y'all are alive lmfao I've been wondering when I would've seen either of you, I missed y'all 😭
Perfume is such a good book! Unlike anything else I have ever read and one of my favourite books of all time
I love your videos together because you both just have so much fun

Old books smell different because of the chemical compounds breaking down in the paper!
"if you know you know, if you don't, allow me to fill you in" is my mantra for conversing with other humans
Screaming at oboist being mimed as a violin
HAAAAA MY LOVES. you two literally are everything to me. ily both sm.
Jack channeling a Love Island boy with this tan tho

Oh my god I loved „das Parfum“! It’s just really really good. Weird but good.
I literally just bought Vile Bodies because the guy in The Sandman recommended it lol
I liked both If We Were Villains and Perfume, good picks
Oh my gosh
Perfume!!!! It’s such a brilliant book!
It will stay with you
Omg I’m going on vacations tomorrow and I just got if we were villains and thought I should read it so now I’m just convinced
perfume is one of my faves
the way jack looks at dakota 😉
i'm very sorry jack but i can't keep watching your videos, my tbr is literally exploding😂
as a band kid, them not knowing what an oboe was made my eye twitch
0:50 oh no… all i’m gonna say is: good luck, jack, i hope you don’t get traumatised as i did, haha. the blurb got me too x”D.
Hi Edward (and Dakota, and whoever reads this)
I'd love to see you read the book "apple tree yard"
i was really intriuged by it but I can't read books with sex scenes because i can't deal with them in my head
but it's a really cool concept, it's a thriller/crime book about this woman (she's the narrator), which is pretty common
but twist
it's 2nd pov, she talks to *you* the reader, about what happened and stuff, it's very cool concept and I'd love to see people I follow (and look up to) read and rate it, because i might pick it up again if it's good
The pronunciation of Süskind is very impressive 💕
i'd also recommend the perfume movie, it's great
