I have an idea for a video/series! I’ve noticed that a lot of books sometimes have similar titles (or covers) but are totally unrelated-I think it could be fun if you read both and picked one to recommend, kind of like a “this or that” or “smash or pass” thing. An example that comes to mind would be The Maid and Maid, both of which have been BOTM picks but are totally different books. You could also find other books that maybe you’ve already read that look or sound similar to other titles on your TBR, too, and go from there!
Fun idea!
I kind of did something like this earlier this year, where I picked up only books that had people swimming on the cover (or water + a person) and I picked up swimming in the dark also in that process! The books were totally different but it was a really fun theme!
Another example - "These Violent Delights"!
that is a very good idea!
Such a cool idea! He did this unintentionally in his video about the Hadids, where he read The Stranger (Stephen king) and L’étranger (Camus)! Wildly different books
when you get the chance to explore, please do a bookstore video! NYC has so many awesome shops, i'd love to see what you think of them! congratulations on the move & welcome!
Yes pleaseee😭🔥
yesss please :)
I was just coming to comments to say this. Great used and new bookstores.
The "Welcome to New York, it's been waiting for you" was the perfect closing bit. Gotta stan swifty Jack
OMG! Giovanni's Room. I just read this for grad school. The writing is amazing (I wish I could write like that), the story is amazing and depressing. I love this book so much.

The Audiobook version of this book is available on my RUclips channel 'Audiobooks Philia' along with other audiobooks. If you're interested, then you can check it out.🥰
Hope you continue to love reading and not feel too much pressure to read just for the sake of reading! You deserve to read all the great books!
i kid you not, every time i see a new video from you, you’ve moved to a new city. i am here for it. congrats
Jack! You HAVE to read Circe right now! I read Song of Achilles first as well, and Circe surpassed Song of Achilles 100x over! (but that is my opinion as a woman who resonated with the character lol)
Finally someone who thinks the same! Circe was soooo much better than Song of Achilles ❤
Interesting! I preferred Achilles. But they are quite different books. Can’t wait to hear what Jack thinks
Brooo tell me about it! I thought the song of Achilles would be Madeline's magnum opus but Circe really outshined it. Highly recommended 👍🏻
Loved Song of Achilles - but My Goodness, Circe just took my breath away every single time I picked it up! 😍❤
Have you read Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel? Sea of Tranquility is filled with connections and Easter eggs relating to her past work, especially The Glass Hotel. Not required to understand but ups the experience
Please do an apartment tour!!! It looks STUNNING
Sea of Tranquility was wonderful! I hope you enjoy it.
I’d love to see an in-depth review of Nightcrawling. Maybe a video focusing on a few debut novels?
I absolutely LOVE all of your videos. Your channel is what got me back into reading books again and I will forever be grateful for that :DD
I love your justification for buying new books. Which is completely relatable and makes me adore you even more. Get that library!!! If I could I would, definitely a life goal.
Loving the recent constant uploads. Your recommendations are 100% the best
the way new york is my absolute favorite place in the world and now i get to live vicariously through you ! very excited about this
I'm about to finish Circe and I want to cry, I dont want it to end its so good. I'm listening to it on Audible and the narrator is perfection. Its beautiful and I'm am sad I haven't read it sooner
If you enjoy Carmilla and want more queer vampire rep I’d 100% recommended ‘A Dowry of Blood’ by S.T. Gibson! It’s a poly retelling of the brides of dracula, its rather spicy, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I finished it!
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is my favorite of the year and now firmly on my favorites shelf. It was absolutely fantastic.
Kitchen is one of the books that is nearest and dearest to my heart. I read it soon after my mother passed away and it moved me and affected me deeply in a way that led to greater healing and understanding. I read it every year!
❤❤❤❤
Love this video!! Happy for you that you’re starting a new part of your life!! Can’t wait to see what other things you’re gonna show us! 🤍
I really love your videos. You are an inspiration for all of us who are booktubers.
📚📚📚
I lived in Brooklyn for 2 years before the pandemic and had the time of my life. Live your main character life, NYC has a way of making everyone feel it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sea of Tranquillity was awesome. And so was the new Zevin book. Curious to hear your reviews on both!
Your videos are the ones that is making my day really worth it. Thank you Jack!
What I great TBR list! I hope you enjoy NYC! Don’t forget to visit The Strand bookstore.
Also, I think I like that cover for Carrie Soto is Back better than the yellow one! Also also, I enjoyed Sea of Tranquility and hope you do as well, I listened to it on audiobook and ended up buying a signed copy I found at a bookstore
since you seem to enjoy greek mythology retellings, i'd love to recommend natalie haynes' work! my favourite is called 'a thousand ships' which is a retelling of the trojan war focused on the women of the story - i think you'd really enjoy it :D
Giovanni’s Room is one of my favorite reads of all time, so excited to hear your thoughts!
i'm so happy you're going to read Circe!! It has been on my bookshelf for a long time and i need to read it soon, so i'm looking forward to your review!!
Now I’m even more excited planning my trip to ny hoping I run into you 😂 love you hope to see you soon and learn about all the bookstores to visit while I’m there 💗🫶🏻
Another entertaining video to make my day more bearable :)
Just popping in with a few video ideas:
-reading and comparing books with similar names/covers
-discussing your least favorite books you have read
-reading female manipulator books
-spooky fall book recommendations
-your favorite memoirs
Love your videos and love you Jack!
Autobiography of red is one of my absolute favourites ! Red doc> is sort of like a sequel, which I do recommend reading as well. Anne Carson is a phenomenal writer, I adore her.
I also can't wait to read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow! Gabrielle Zevin is one of my favorite writers. The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is in my top ten faves of all time!
please please - a video of books set in new york to celebrate your move (and paris to honour the memories) xx
Love, love, love the apartment. Congratulations on the move! I think one day I will push myself to read nonfiction, but it's so hard for me to want to get to know celebrities on that level.
Hey!! Just here to say that I absolutely love your videos and have already added a lot of your recs onto my TBR. Keep going :)
the way my day is better when jack uploads
Circe FINALLY!! Been waiting for this since it got delivered 😂
Ahhhhh Autobiography of Red is my absolute favourite! Anne Carson is a literal genius. Can’t wait for your review!!!
GIOVANNI’S ROOM !!! yes !!!! can NOT wait to hear your thoughts about it, even though i’m 99.999% sure you’re going to love it. you really are living your best life in new york so so happy for you !!!
I’m so excited for you to read The Sea of Tranquility. It’s one of my favorites for the year
you're gonna looooove giovanni's room. i read it for the first time this year and it became one of my favorite books ever immediately.
A book (or book series) I‘d like to recommend to you is „The history of bees“ and the other books out of the „Clima Quartet“ by Maja Lunde. Each book is good to to read on it‘s own but I love them all. I‘ve read them in German, that means I don’t know how the English translation is, but the books are written so beautifully that you will love them (I think lol). Lots of love
A lot of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow is set in New York City btw. ☺️ I'd love to see a reading vlog of it, it's a real emotional rollercoaster! Sea of Tranquility is great also!
OMG!!! Love all ur books Jack! 😊
Welcome to NY! If you get a chance to go upstate the Friends of the Library book sale in Ithaca in October is incredible and it is the best time to experience an upstate fall.
Im so excited for you to read giovannis room, sea of tranquility and dept of speculation because these are three of my favourite books this year. And you’ll adore giovannis room when you loved swimming in the dark, it was the same for me
Carmilla is also on my Halloween TBR! I just discovered your channels over the weekend and you've inspired me to get back to reading. Thank you for the great content! :)
absolutely love this new background :) wishing you well at your new place
I listened to the audiobook of "Their eyes were watching gods" and can recommend getting the audiobook, it's very well done! It's one of those books that I was grateful to have both the book and audiobook for, so I read along to the audiobook.
Even though it took me quite a while to get into it, I really enjoyed the book and one scene in particular has stuck with me across the years.
Just found your videos! So excited to see what you post.
we have always lived in the castle is one of my favourite books, it has stayed with me for years after reading! It turned me into the biggest shirley jackson stan, I cant wait to hear your thoughts on it!
That experience you have with Memorial-knowing you’ll love it so delaying the satisfaction-is something the podcast “Books Unbound” calls a mashed potato book! Would highly recommend their podcast :)
I really love your apartment’s interior design 😍
Sea of Tranquility is a phenomenal book. Structured so cleverly and I absolutely devoured it
omg swimming in the dark!!! one of my favourites too
I actually have to read the Zora Neale Hurston book for my lit degree this semester ! Can’t wait to have your opinion on it !
Hope you have a lovely time in New York! I visited NY several years ago on a school trip and I enjoyed it far more than I thought I was going to. I hope to go back one day!
Also, it took me a minute to realize you were saying the temperature in Celsius! I was like there is no way New York could only be 15 degrees in September. But 15 celsius is 59 Fahrenheit which mades much more sense!
loooved Giovanni's Room and I think you'll definitely enjoy the Parisian-ness of it! so interested to hear what you think of Circe as I really did not enjoy and it's been putting me off reading The Song of Achilles
I loved kitchen!!! cant wait for your review:)
Excited to watch your Carrie Soto book review :)
Ps: just finished HAMNET 👏🏽 & owe all the thanks to youuuu as your channel is what got me hip to it 💚.
You will love Acts of Service. One of my favorite books this year!
Omg I loved Giovanni’s room I just know you will too!!
oh my god! Kitchen is one of my favorite books in my LIFE! If you have room to add one - If I had Your Face - Frances Cha - enjoy NYC - come to SF so I can bump into you on the street.
I‘m excited for your opinion on The Silence of the Girls! I’ve read the sequel The Women of Troy for uni and I liked it!
We need a video where Jack goes to the All Too Well Bookstore!!!
ughhhhhh the sympathizer is one of my favourite books of all time jack!
I literally just finished reading Carmilla! can't wait to hear your thoughts :)
Love how you say "it's definitely coat season here", and I've been going along without one in NYC in total denial
Giovanni’s Room 😍😍 Can’t WAIT for your review
I love when Jack has books to read that I’ve already read. Gets me really excited to see what he thinks of them!
And I looooove that art on the back wall 😭
Would enjoy a video again where you read the books that the people on the subway in new york city are reading!
You’re going to love Kitchen ❤ also tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow made me WEEP
The way you introduce books always tempt me to buy all of them 😂
Love the covers for Giovanni's Room and Their Eyes Were Watching God! Also really excited to read The Crane Wife
Please do a blog about The Strand bookstore!! I’ve seen it in some movies
I gasped when you mentioned Swimming in the Dark when talking about Giovanni’s Room… i have no original experience but i love this level of #relatable
we need a full review of Swimming in the dark, I haven't read anything like that book. its so good.
Do a book haul video at Strand! Super famous independently owned bookstore in NYC, you would absolutely love it. :)
if you like memorial, make sure to check out his first book, lot! it’s SO good
kitchen is so good it’s super unique I ate it up 😅😊
Sea of Tranquility is a fabulous book! I love all of Emily St John Mandel’s work (they also all reference each other!)
I would love it if you were to read through dome of Barak Obamas favorite reads. He puts out a great list every year
Jack's slays in the best way possible
I really enjoyed kitchen 💘
Just finished Circe and adored it! Think I preferred it to Songs of Achilles. You will enjoy it 🎉
We gotta see an apartment tour! Making me miss nyc, I would love to see you read some more unpopular books!
Please it would be amazing a video visiting the NY library 🤩🤩🤩
Circe is so good!
Wow so surprised to hear you mention The Crane Wife! C.J. Hauser was my professor in college - hope you enjoy!
If you want something beautiful, oddly romantic, and melancholy, I highly recommend Fish in Exile. It is so hard to explain without spoiling it. I really loved the bittersweet ending because it was more of a new beginning than an ending.
I think you will love Circe and Autobiography of Red. They are both great interpretations of Greek mythology.
I love The Silence of the Girls!
Snazzy place you got there!
I hope we get a review of Nightcrawling! As an Oakland resident it really gives you an experience of the city and is so well written!
Jack Edwards and I don’t have the same taste in books but yet I’m here watching all the books he’s going to read
Hi Jack, welcome to the USA 😊 I think you should check out Almond, it’s a lovely translated book that I think you’d really enjoy
absolutely slayed
Kitchen is a contemporary classic and should be higher up on the list of every book lover
omg i absolutely loved circe!!😍 oh, why don't you do a video all about books that are greek mythology inspired? feel like there are so many
Nightcrawling is one of the most gut wrenching books I've ever read. Beautifully crafted and written but I felt sick reading it the entire time. I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it.
