- In this video I STRUGGLED to get the SP500's carburetor working correctly, thanks to some tiny little oversights I made. I also tried out the bike back to back with and without the Dial-A-Jet "carburetor enhancement pump"

This channel is the best....
@@WD-sr8qz Thanks boss
Well here is my "turbo charging the algorithm" comment lol. Seriously love watching your videos and how much goes wrong with old crap. Reminds me when I used to drive around in old 80s gm crap growing up
Great story telling to make carburetor problems entertaining. Also, thank you for making me feel better about buying a modern fuel injected street legal enduro that exceeds my capability, just for how well sorted it came from the factory. Chasis, suspension, brakes, fueling, clutch; all better than me. Not feeling any shame.
Not having to mess with smelly carburetors can be a beautiful, beautiful thing
Yah those carb vent lines are more important than you might think. Got stuck in quicksand one time and clogged a vent line on my xr250 and it absolutely would not run. Took many many hours to pull it out and then push it a few miles back to the truck. Ended up cleaning the carb half a dozen times before I figured out the vent line was clogged, clipped the clog bit off with some scissors, and it ran perfect after that.
Love the videos. I'm not poor I just don't have money and you opened the door to cheap old fixer upper dirt bikes to me and a I love it.
Thank you.
Dude. This is awesome. I can’t decide who’s having more fun, you, or the SP!
Thanks lol. After it was all said and done I definitely had a blast on this thing!

Sooo good! It's pretty amazing what you've been able to do with that bike. Can't wait to see what's next!
Love what you're doing Gabe! Great content!
as usual... GREAT content. hope you the best man.
Excellent update!
I love this series, keep it up
Good one. Stoked for more
Great carb tuning tips, thanks!

Reminds me of my old XL500s, keep up the good work!
Man, I throughly enjoyed that vid. Got to take my hat off to ya, there was definitely no lacking In the amount of energy you put into running that bike.
Not really done any off roading, but rebuilding a 1996 Xr 250r. Some more great content! 👍
Awesome vid as always man, commenting for the algorithm :)
Love the old bikes, man! The DR200 racing is some of my favorite, though lol
Your ability to tell a story is great! I love following your journey. Keep up the awesome work, dude!
Love the videos man keep it up would love to see you get a xt or a tt 500 I love my xt500 after I put some progressive shocks on it
Another awesome vid!
$200 I’ve got a whole yz250 1995 front end you can put on that. All you’ll need is a spacer for the stem. You’ll have fully modern suspension
Kyb 41mm
The rear shocks are booty tho so i feel like it would amplify that effect
@@KgiMedia601 those rear shocks need to break in. They aren’t booty but they are way to firm. Those are shocks for a 600lb motorcycle.I’d be searching for something softer
You should have just kept thr KDX, my one starts up every year, nothing falls off. Love it
leaving a comment to turbo charge the algorithm. Keep up the great content!
It's always something, eh? Can't wait to see what happens next.
The DR500 has a de-compression lever. On mine I got rid of the cable and handlebar lever and made a small aluminium lever which bolts directly to the shaft on the head. I get the piston to the right spot, flip the lever and kick. No kick back and no risk of breaking the kickstarter etc. I have photos if it's helpful.
Seems a crucial mod if trying to race this kick-back beast. Imagine hours into an enduro race?!
16.37 nice carnegie water tower.
Love to see a dr350 video... seeing a win for ya lol
Here to help the algs.
I love the content i started out on some real junkers you don't need new to have fun
That was ac crap-ton of work!! The slo-mo at 13:05 made it all worthwhile though!
Was a beaut for sure.
Indeed lol. One of the best shots I've ever done
This makes me massively miss my SP500.....
Its great to see the superpooper finally, actually about to proprelly be trashed about !
Hahah it may be, finally, actually, the moment we've all been waiting for!

looking forward to more with this bike. carbs are fucking annoying. im a fi convert at this point. still like air cooled but carbs are just a hastle.
Amazing
Oh man, cliffhanger!
Power jet banshee guys use them instead of that dial-@ jet thing adjust valve lash a little less to get rid of KICK BACK thicker oil for forks
Gabe I had a similar issue with the float bowl on 3 carbs on a YZ80. I put a second flow control (lawnmower) valve after the tank petcock. It seemed to regulate the flow into the bowl and was able to start work on the jets. Loving the journey on this.
Tell us more about this

can't wait for the next "wtf broke this time?" video 😅
Would actually enjoy seeing you race the 230 in an endurance race
Hi Gabe, would you ever do a review on a Wr 250f from somewhere around 2005?
For sure a generation of Yamahas that I'd like to get to. I've enjoyed those older Yamahas thoroughly and love the combination of decent performance and incredible reliability!

Dang
The Kenda Parker DT's are amazing for the terrain you're riding. They carve up a storm, even the narrow odd tread patterned front, please trust me. The Trackmaster sucks balls under any lateral grip situations. I was a cheap-azz for my first year riding and only used Trackmasters... Never again. Dude, I'll venmo you the difference in price to get a 120 Parker rear over a Trackcrapper. Plus the Parkers are DOT and they LAST just as long as the Tmaster
I’ve never run the trackmaster in the front due to the consistent poor reviews. I’ve run the rear a few times and haven’t had any issues with it.
Why you still calling it the Super Pooper? I thought it was the Thunderin' 500!? That thing is awesome!
Haha it goes by the thunderin 500 most often now but for continuity's sake I gotta keep super pooper going as well. But yeah this thing is fun!!

I would have seen if your could push it through the stroke if not I would have rode it out push starting it.
Agreed but… Even my XR250 is a bear to push start on dirt. Cannot imagine a fresh built 500cc. Pavement with a pull strap another thing entirely.
Also consider what broke is not likely soft aluminum parts but rather cast steel. Good damage control suggests you don’t circulate that debris around a ‘fresh’ engine.
look for a alum dr400 swingarm
Maybe you could soften up the rear end by putting just one of the old shocks back on it.
The swingarm would become unbalanced because of the difference side to side. It would twist along with the wheel and mess with handling.
And imagine how much more sporty/trick it would look!
I wish you rode bikes that were just a bit more relatable to what most people are riding these days. The xr600 is probably closest to what people still ride on trails today.
I still have the XR600, amongst other bikes so it'll happen again! But right now I'm having quite an adventure with this old beast!

Cool video! Old bikes are great fun to ride. You could ask people to comment on your video to help the algorithms promote your videos
i wish i didnt have to give up dirt biking. All the riding areas around here have been bought up by conservation people.
Irc ve33 rear
Some bikes are temperamental, but interesting.

@@TortureTestMagazine is that why the kick starter fell to the floor?
@@z50king29 I think it was the sprag clutch being gummed up.
That thing seems to be cursed.
My DR200 was a similar story hahah. First time I rode the DR200, it broke in ways I didn't think I'd ever see. Suzuki bikes are like a wild horse. You gotta break it good before it'll respect you and finally do your bidding xD
