Torture Test Magazine is an e-magazine which documents, in fine detail, the stories of bikes subjected to a real-world reliability test known as "the torture test." In the magazine, the torture test is conducted on a bike until it mechanically fails so badly that it can no longer run. Why? Because bike reviews based on a few hours of test riding are not satisfying enough. We want to know exactly how reliable a bike is, and how it will eventually fail. Simply put, Torture Test Magazine brings you the world's most detailed reliability and cost of ownership reviews for motorcycles.

Gabe that was absolutely amazing! I'm sad that I'm only half way in and the VO stops... it was awesome to hear your perspective and I am PUMPED for you to do the 24 hours! I would volunteer to race with you but there are three big problems... 1. I'm super slow. 2. I don't have the endurance. 3. I'm really, really slow. You know that. It's so awesome that you were hating it, then suddenly just realized, "This is fun!" I'm really glad it helped you to be happier! What's funny is that my upcoming talk is all about how the failure and difficulty and hardship makes the good parts of life stand out. This is yet another awesome example of that! Thanks for the rad video man, and keep up the great work! Hopefully we can ride soon!

I completely feel you about turning the fuel off. Back in about 1994, I was racing the red river enduro in Texas on a KDX 200. Freezing cold day so I used the choke to start the bike. I forgot I left the choke on and couldn't figure out why the bike was running like crap. I even ran hot to buy time to swap the plug, which I did and stayed on my minute. About 20 minutes in i touched the choke lever and poof the bike ran like a champ. I felt sooo stupid, but not stupid enough to not tell my friends my mistake. I bought the beers that night, lol.

Just watched this video from 3yrs ago. I've been going through your vids from more recent and I want to compliment you on so many levels. Your positive attitude. You stay upbeat even when faced with struggles and setbacks. I like the whole idea of doing the best you can without having all the top shelf equipment and money to throw around. On the content itself I enjoy watching and listening without some loud music blaring. The bike makes the music. Last but hardly least, I enjoy being able to watch the entire video and not having to listen to somebody's foul mouth language. Thanks. Ride on Brother.

Nice work! Endurance races require a certain mentality and the willingness to suffer, a lot.
I've done a few endurance races (6hr + 12hr solo). Key really is to keep circulating around the track (don't push 100% or get into races) stay warm + dry and keep getting food and fluids down you regularly.
I see you getting your hands muddy. Keeping a rag stuffed down the top of your trousers is helpful in cleaning your hands and grips.
Also, mousses! I'm not doing another one until I get mousses.
Not sure i'd do 24hrs, it was on my mind until I did 12hrs. Nope to 24hrs. To much suffering for me and my bike!

It was so great to see this. It left me wanting more, but I am happy with the way that you left it. I think that your skill is so much better than mine. It did not occur to me before now that even the best riders make mistakes. Maybe save your equipment on the first half of the race. Then you can push harder after the half way point. Good luck in the next race.

I relate to what you're saying about making it hard on yourself sometimes. It gives you a drive. Puts things in perspective. Pulls you way out of your comfort zone.

Amazing ride man! Unless someone has done something like this they would have no idea of the pain and suffering. This reminds me of the Soboba Ride if you haven't tried that I suggest adding it to your bucket list. It's about 34 miles of primarily single track maybe 300 riders released 3-4 abreast with about a 1.5 - 2 min intervals. Did it this year with some friends and it took a couple of days to shake that off so I can't imagine what you felt like after 6 hours of punishment. Thanks for the video! Great stuff.

Being from the north west side of the states I'm used to the soupy trench that you experienced in the begining of this race. Harescrambles are the closest thing we have to this type of racing and being up north you besically come to expect the track to be covered with slippery mud. This does level the playing field a little bit but man that mud really saps the energy out of you. If you get a chance sometime, look into the WNY Hare Scramble Series. Would be sick to see you try this series out.

    • @TortureTestMagazine

I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing, but I'm going to add several hours of pain and misery to every day. *Not like BDSM though hahah, what the heck?* Just healthy, growth-minded suffering every day. I'll fit it in somehow. *That's what she said?* So yeah, new rule: Every day has to suck super bad. If every day sucks super hard then there's no more bad days, right? IDK fam. We'll see where it goes. Keep on Torture Testing, my friends! *edit* with the new rules on comment moderation, I think I single-handedly got this video into limited-ad mode with this comment. Wow that looked challenging. You would have definitely been first if you didn't stop to help everyone, hahaha. Congrats on finishing and how well you did.

I’m surprised to see how many people didn’t have hydration packs.

And by the way, if you ever want to get some practice in that area just let me know and I’ll be willing to take you out near those hills so you can get familiar with that terrain. I know those trails like the back of my hand

This looks hard as, but would really like to do the 24 hours with you but I couldn’t come over to America and love that you’re riding the legendary 250x. I did a ride a while back which went though thick bush/woods over one of the mountain ranges over here in New Zealand. We went over and back and it took close to 8 hours. The track isn’t that long but your lucky to get into 3rd gear cause there’s just bogs after bogs after bogs that 4wd have made over the passed like 20 years. Most of them have bike tire width tracks around them but they were still just hard like you have to ride on top of 3 metre drops that if you fell off you would be upside down in a bog with the bike on top of you. I did it on the mighty 250x but my electric start broke so kicking it killed me, It’s also not the lightest bike around so pushing it was exhausting. There was only me and 2 other people so there wasn’t other people to deal with, but the worst part was we went really unprepared so I had no water/food or gas for my bike so I rolled into the carpark on reserve and I having no food and water nearly broke me. Good fun though.

I would love to do 24 hr bro, I live just 5 minutes away from there and I just happen to ride all those washes and hills at least 3 times a week😂 only problem is I’m 16, i don’t know how their age restrictions are but I have competed before in races like the lake Elsinore Grand Prix and some milestone races. Never done such a long event though, but I do have a lot of practice time on my bike (cr250r)

Reasons I hate mud: 1. you're not just dirty and you're not just wet.
    2. Someone's bike get's stuck and you need 3 guys to get it out.

Cool to see a SWM bike being raced!
Also, what's that rattling noise on your bike when you're off the throttle?
