    Thanks Shaun for sharing with us, I have a problem with my Insignia 2016, 1.6, temperature stays around 60-70 degrees only, not going up.

      Hi, thanks for watching and your comment. It does sound as if your thermostat is opening to soon or stuck open.. does your radiator get hot as the engine warms up indicating its stuck open or does it stay cold untill the temp reaches 60,70 degrees. In either case it sounds like you need a thermostat replacement.

    • @vasoaida972
      @vasoaida972 Год назад +1

      Thanks for that.
      Will be the same location for Insignia 2016 1.6? Cannot really find where the thermostat is located.
      Thanks

    Hello mate thanks for the video
    My 63 plate insignia dumped water from the bottom of the radiator, filled up just over a litre and drove home, got a pressure test done and no leaks. Two days ago after a good four hours driving, temp warning came up, stopped and let the engine cool down, added just over a litre and drove home ok, help please, why is this happening?

    Great video im having a problem with my Vauxhall insignia sri 2015 2.0 cdti eco engine getting hot after a couple of miles from cold and water tank boiling up and heat gauge goes up and had a message on dash saying shut down ide or something could this be the thermostat thanks
    Also heater is fine gets hot as normal.

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  2 месяца назад

      If the interior heater is blowing hot air then you have circulation which means the waterpump is proberly OK.
      It's possible you may have an air lock in the system if you've recently lost coolant.
      Other possibility are blocked radiator but it does sound like a thermostat problem.

    Hi I've had my thermostat changed and my head gasket and now it's leaking coolant from the thermostat housing. Just behind the metal pipe. It's a 1.8 petrol insignia. I've had it backwards and forwards to the same garage. I'm starting to loose patience with them now. Can you advise 😊

      Is it possible its leaking from elsewhere rather than the thermastat housing. These normaly seal up quite well unless they are cracked.. Sorry i cant be of more help

      Chances are you just need a new tempreture sender and not a thermostat. Do you have the service engine soon message?. Do you have access to a code reader with live data to check the tempreture sender?

    Hiya mate my 2010 cdti is having a little issue. My temp gauge is fluctuating between 90 n about 85/80... I've just had to have the oil cooler changed as it had split and was loosing coolant from their. Its still however showing in the gauge that the temp is moving up n down. What you reckon could this be the theromstat?

    Hi.. some advice would be appreciated. Vauxhall insignia 1.8 Sri. On idle the temps stays normal and fans come on. As soon as I drive a mile or so she heats up quickly. Could this be thermostat not opening? Thanks

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  Год назад +1

      Could be thermostat or could be either waterpump or at worst an internal water leak I.e headgasket...do you know if at idle and its upto tempreture and the fans come on is the radiator or radiator pipes hot or are they still cold.... . To check water pump flow... can you see in the coolant bottle, can you see any circulation, water movement in there? Do you get heat inside the car... lots of variables here...

    • @sover9258
      @sover9258 Год назад

      @@shaunsautorepairs5410 thanks. I’ve ordered thermostat and head gasket test kit. The fans do come on while idling and the temps stay constant and yes there is water flow in coolant bottle. Not so much heat in the car. I know when I switch on A/C it climbs much quicker even in idle, but if I switch it off it goes back to normal. I will check the pipes. I know at least one of them gets hot. Thanks again

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410

      As far as i remember it was just a spring clip. The type that you have to compress the two ears to remove it.

  • @vinczejani
    @vinczejani 5 лет назад

    Just a quick one. I can see there is a temperature se sor built into the housing. Also there is another on somewhere on the engine. Are they both to control the coolant fans? Mine when I start the engine with no AC on the fans are on all the time. The sensor on the engine has already been replaced. Should I change the thermostat as I heard it's a non removable sensor?

    I have a problem with my insignia where it leeks water when driven hard and the engine is hot. I have no idea what's causing it. Have to too it up with water every time driven.

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  3 года назад +1

      Your first have to check if you have any external visual signs of leakage. Check areas like around the thermostat, heater hoses, radiator etc. If its from the front of the engine, dripping from around the crankshaft pulley its likely to be the water pump... Another possibility is a leak inside the car from the heater matrix. This will make the footwell carpet wet... If you cant see any external leaks then it could be headgasket related...

  • @keithevans8635
    @keithevans8635 5 лет назад

    Do you need a gasket, all so, when toping up with coolant, do you bleed it through, or just top it up . Ps how do you take of the ecu unit.

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  5 лет назад +1

      Hi the gasket is supplied with the unit.. Once fitted you can just top the coolant up as you wont loose much then bleed it from the new bleed screw...you dont need to remove the ecu to do this just plastic covers and the air duct pipe. The bracket for the ecu sumply unclips..i think you may need a thin screwdriver for this and it simply lifts out.

  • @user-tq7fs5re8r
    @user-tq7fs5re8r 8 месяцев назад

    Hi Shaun, how do you shift the ECU out of the way.

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  8 месяцев назад

      It literally just unclipped and you lift it out its bracket.. no disconnecting required... I dont recall it being a problem to move...

    • @shaunsautorepairs5410
      @shaunsautorepairs5410  3 года назад

      Yes if it is stuck open it may cause circulation problems in your heater or maybe its missing altogether. What temp does the coolant gauge show.
