William Williams What you have just recommend is Single Butt Cheek value engineering or as like to call it putting lipstick on a Pig because you still have not fixed the systemic problem. To get around your great fix all a person has to do is drill to the side of your 5/16 “case hardened screw” and push the latch in from the side. Or take a small torch or torch lighter and apply heat to the screw you loctited in and use a center punch and a hammer to walk your “case hardened screw” with some gentle tap tapping taps of the hammer because all loctite products soften/melt when heated. Lastly you would not want to use a “case hardened screw” because case hardening is a surface hardening process to make a screw/plug far more drill resistant you would need a thru hardened screw/plug. All that I wrote above is more or less a moot statement because the core of this lock is not made of decent metal itself as LPL pointed out in his first video about this lock. He stated that the core appeared to be made out of Zinc or other such metal and because of that is vulnerable to an attack by a propane torch where you just melt the core out of the lock. Sorry if I seem to be a bit harsh that was not my intention but rather to point out trying to polish a turd all you get is a shiny turd and this lock is a silver colored turd regardless of which way you look at it.
Finally I have a reason to watch one of these, not that that stopped me from watching every other one. We just picked up an older racing trailer to use as a mobile piping and storage area. If you want to reduce that 30-second break-in time, I suggest a chip-clearing style TiN coated cobalt steel drill bit. You can run them faster in stainless than other drill types. Ex: McMaster-Carr #3183A54 or #3020A22

Well looks to me like a work around to slow down the lock drilling would be fairly simple. On the tube the lock slips into simply weld a 4 inch extension to it. Cut a slot in the bottom of the tube extension enough to slip the lock up and then press the lock back into the locking position. Have a 1/4 to 1/2 inch plate end cap the diameter of the original tube welded on the end of the extension. Would be extremely difficult to try drilling the lock.
Hehe! I was called out to do a similar task to a brass body padlock with a Stanley best core, which was no longer engaging the mechanism to release the shackle. About 10 seconds to just drill a 3/16" hole through the side close to where the bearing is, and reach in and release the lock.

Just like I said in the last video on this lock, they should of kept the Paclock core and if they wanted to upgrade it they should have put a Paclock 410 core. Not saying the original Paclock core was insufficient but the company chose to degrade rather than upgrade their puck lock product. Simply sliding in a cheap DD core is no longer the solution, consumers need to be aware of the security faults this lock contains instead of been dazzled by a 'new locking system' and the fancy key that it comes with. Educating consumers is key to their security and peace of mind, these companies are taking advantage of consumers with fake fancy tech. Thank you LPL for helping consumers get some idea of real security and inexcusable faults that exist in so many products. The drill attack vulnerability just shows this company is more busy counting pennies than offering security. Ignorance is Bliss😂
I was just about to ask when are you going to drop your own lock brand, but then I got to thinking..it’s to much of a liability. Someone buys your lock and a cheap Walmart hasp..someone opens and steals whatever they used your lock to protect..smh damn. Well thank you for the very informative videos!
So I've been practicing picking lately, and I just bought a couple new padlocks. The master lock I bought has, and I quote "A pin tumbler cylinder for increased resistance to picking" I've been laughing at that description for about a half hour now. Send help.
I hope you publish a clarification. They've changed the material to much harder to drill, and the lock actuator is no longer accessible from the front. Also nearly impossible to pick. Love your videos!
After watching TLPL for some time now I've come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a pick proof/drill proof lock at all. I guess it's all about the time taken to bust in to a lock.
You would be correct. No lock is truly unpickable or unable to be drilled or ground open given enough time and persistence. That said, a lock that is resistant to most unskilled picking or bypass techniques, and has enough physical toughness to require prolonged use of loud/conspicuous power tools to open is usually enough of a deterrent for many real-world applications.
It might not be completely drill proof, but PacLock's cone-shaped puck lock comes pretty close. And good luck using power tools on any of the Altor SAF locks.
Just an idea. Maybe a lock scale for difficulty. 0 locks would be screwdrivers and hammers, 1 lock would be a drill or raking the pins, and 10 locks would be the hardest to pick
it is easy to drill a hole in a lock but it still takes a lot of knowledge about different brands of locks and their construction to know exactly where to drill. i don’t consider this a no skill attack. i don’t think every criminal is going to case their target and research the brand of lock to find their weaknesses then go back and precisely drill and open the lock
Tony G Tony G Hello Tony G , Thanks for your comment. We have changed the lock, we are now using Medeco M3 cylinders standard in all of our stainless locks and we also added some more additional upgrades, like a deadbolt style lock so its not spring loaded and rotated the lock hole to the back. We sent one out to LPL and he received it 9/12/2019 so hopefully he will review it soon to show all the new improvements!! Thanks again for your thoughts.
Thank you for this video my brother had 3 of these securing the tongue and both sides of the rear door on his trailer and after about 8 months on the trailer mostly just sitting in the driveway and less then a dozen times using them they all have seized up and we can’t get them open with the key and we tried every thing lots of lock lube etc no luck, but the drill and a screwdriver did make extremely fast work of them can’t believe I ever trusted these to secure my trailer. I think we’re going to go with PL 975 Puck locks to replace them I’ve liked the protec 2 stuff in the past.
My guess is that these videos circumventing security items would be more beneficial to a thief than it would be changing the minds of most manufacturer's, if its selling good why changing anything , hopefully one day it will & if it does I wonder what they would manufacturer to replace it ? & cost ?

Please do a video on what picks and tension tools you use and where to buy them. I want to get into picking and locksmithing in general but I don’t know how to tell if something is actually worth buying or if it’s just another “amazons choice” if that makes sense.
I drilled a hole through a block of roule cheese with a drinking straw exactly like this, in fact, I think thats what you did here too! Clever CGI made it _look_ like a drill and puck lock with all the sound effects added, very well done. Yeah, its easy to drill a hole through soft cheese with a straw, nothing so special.😋😜💨😉
One consumer-implemented option would be to drill a hole part way into the lock, then press a hardened ball bearing into it to prevent people from drilling in that spot.
Proven Industries charges an extra $100 for that stainless puck as an option when ordering their trailer coupler lock. Their coupler system is the best available, but I chose an Abloy puck instead of using one of their pucks. Proven Industries should offer their coupler lock without a puck because their aluminum pucks aren't much better than this stainless one.
After seeing how Proven handled things in the last video I gotta say they got what they deserved here. They just spit at everyone making negative comments or had some canned response from someone in PR, and just latched onto the positive comments. Just make a good product offered at a reasonable price and you have nothing to worry about.
lol... every lock manufacturers best friend and worst nightmare... i guess those lawyers traits are showing ;-D Side note: from the looks of it with how 'soft' that steel was, going slow with a sharp bit, this could actually be done pretty damn quiet as well (definitely quieter than hooking up the same trailer said lock was securing)
i think Proven Industries should either burn through more cutting tools making the lock or make a more drill resistant plate that could be placed inside to guard the locking lug. another way would be to make the locking lug have another pin on it like door latches so it hits a dimple in the back of the lock to lock the lug so even if you drill it the lug wont be pushed as it would have another pin that works like the security pin on door latches
This is easy to fix. Put a harden steel metal blank inside the lock on top of the key way. It may not stop a drill attack but it would take longer than 15 seconds to drill.
Their standard key locks use a Paclock core which the LPL has some reviews of, it seems to be a very good core for the price. I wouldn’t get the stainless steel version though as it is not worth the price. Check out the comments from the previous video on this lock for more info.
The secret to an effective lock is to weld one up yourself using an off the shelf quality padlock in a hard to access position. Thieves don't have the time or desire to problem solve. They like known problems with known solutions.
We got a tool box for a truck not so long ago that was locked, so I thought it would be a good time to practice and tried to pick it but couldn’t feel anything and I also couldn’t get my pick in, my dad told me he would open it quickly and he got a flathead and a hammer and turned it as he hit it, it opened right up, and now we have to buy a 60 dollar lock knowing it can be opened that easily because no other company makes locks for that box😂 if anyone’s interested the lock was from a weather gaurd tool box

Or one (unnamed) lock company that makes theirs out of aluminum. I know it's only a matter of time to physically (destructively) defeat a lock, but at least put some effort into it.
If you want to reduce that 30-second break-in time, I suggest a chip-clearing style TiN coated cobalt steel drill bit. You can run them faster in stainless than other drill types. Ex: McMaster-Carr #3183A54 or #3020A22

I don't know how I stumbled upon your channel. Honestly, at first I was like, why would anyone show how to pick locks online? Then I realised that I have been doing it just for fun on my own for years and you are doing the same, while exposing security flaws... Keep it up!
There’s so much more to life than picking locks.
But when RUclips pays you money for it, that's amazing!

@@dangriffin8211 Yeah, sorry. You're about 2 years late... 🤣
The lock picking lawyer. Educating thieves every day!
Hehe! I was called out to do a similar task to a brass body padlock with a Stanley best core, which was no longer engaging the mechanism to release the shackle. About 10 seconds to just drill a 3/16" hole through the side close to where the bearing is, and reach in and release the lock.
WTF, I spent $300 on that lock! He opens that lock faster than it takes me to put it on!
here u go Check out BosnianBills review. LPL would not do it because he is a hater lol( Review:Proven Industries Puck Lock) I would have the link but it does not display if i attach it lol
Send help.
Like butter.

Dang. Why didn't I find thjs video BEFORE I bought the lock. Now I have to live with it.
This in an old video and our locks have were redesigned, here is a newer video of how our lock system is ruclips.net/video/VjxGP4joTlc/видео.html
LPL : "my theory is that if we drill straight through the face of this lock"
Lock: .....uh!😵 I'm done for😵
You can almost hear the lock scream when LPL mentions The Garage ...
Thank you, and I was thinking of buying this garbage. You just saved me over $200. God bless you.

You've taught me how to finesse so hard, thank you!
Im glad I didn't spend my money on this lock thanks to you...great quick to the point video

Hello Tony G
, Thanks for your comment.
If a lock goes to the garage, It probably won't come back usable
You must be a hell of a lawyer! Love the videos !!
& cost ?
I’m sure thieves watching his videos and thanking him for a great ideas 💡😂
We’ll that’s just great, I just spent $300 on this lock.

Proven _vulnerable_ once again... My, oh my.
Please do a video on what picks and tension tools you use and where to buy them. I want to get into picking and locksmithing in general but I don’t know how to tell if something is actually worth buying or if it’s just another “amazons choice” if that makes sense.
LPL: Let's head down to the garage
Lock: Do you guys hear boss music?
These companies need you working for them to help them build a decent lock. Great video as always, keep up the good work.
OMGitsMADMUFFIN They probably can’t afford him. He is a real lawyer. Making big bucks charging in 6 minute increments.
I feel like a few zip ties are just as effective as most locks.

It’s a shame since the trailer tongue lock assembly they make is fantastic

Well I was planning on buying the PI hitch and puck but, forget it now. They better come out with an alternative lock.
After seeing how Proven handled things in the last video I gotta say they got what they deserved here. They just spit at everyone making negative comments or had some canned response from someone in PR, and just latched onto the positive comments. Just make a good product offered at a reasonable price and you have nothing to worry about.
Love this channel just found it. Do you have a video on recommended trailer locks? What should I get for best security? Great channel thanks!
A really early upload and a great thing to wake up to. And as always, have a nice day, thank you.
nice that they give you a morking of where to drill
lol... every lock manufacturers best friend and worst nightmare... i guess those lawyers traits are showing ;-D
Side note: from the looks of it with how 'soft' that steel was, going slow with a sharp bit, this could actually be done pretty damn quiet as well (definitely quieter than hooking up the same trailer said lock was securing)
i think Proven Industries should either burn through more cutting tools making the lock or make a more drill resistant plate that could be placed inside to guard the locking lug.
another way would be to make the locking lug have another pin on it like door latches so it hits a dimple in the back of the lock to lock the lug so even if you drill it the lug wont be pushed as it would have another pin that works like the security pin on door latches
This is easy to fix. Put a harden steel metal blank inside the lock on top of the key way. It may not stop a drill attack but it would take longer than 15 seconds to drill.
I can't even pick my nose as fast as he can pick some of these locks.
So what's the BEST trailer lock then? I was just about to buy this lock today. SMH😐
Me too 🤣🤣🤣
I'll wait. 🤬🤬🤬
You have the best Commenters !!
"Upstairs": This videos come from high ground.
Have you tried on the newest version? They changed the lock since this video. Now uses a medeco M3 core, rotated 180 degrees, supposedly harder case.
I bet the company love s him

LockPickingLawyer Picking 1000 locks in 1000 seconds? 😂
