I found Ft Knox several years ago when we upgraded to a fifth wheel trailer. I really didn't like the standard fifth wheel hookups and went to an Anderson hitch. ...and I couldn't find a lock for it. ..until I stumbled onto Ft Knox. I bought theirs with one of their puck locks and never looked back. People take one look at the Ft Knox and ask where I got it and if I like it.
For other locks I use around my truck (receiver hitch, coupler, tool box, ...) I use bolt lock. That way i can use my truck key for most of my lock needs when I travel. Yes... you can key them to your truck keys!!!!

thanks for this video. I bought this ft. knox lock after watching this, and I'm sure I have the same tongue, but can't close the latch like you did. it's too tight to close the hitch latch like you did on the second part of the video, on the pipe that sticks up into the ball socket. I already had to take my angle grinder to the center area of the lid part that swings over the ball, to get it to close all the way. It needed just a tiny bit of relief there. I think I will do the same on the pipe where I can see it hitting to provide a little relief there too. this is a keeper, but needs slight modification for my tongue. 1/2 hour later... that worked ground out where the part that clamps the ball, making the pipe a little more ball shaped, that works! needed some touch up with a cutoff wheel on my dremel, and good to go. I swear, I never seem to buy something that just fits. always needs modification.

The thing about picking locks is you have to look at the situation the lock is getting picked. Yes LPL can pick a lock on a bench in an ideal position quickly. But crawling under a trailer and working with your hands over your head would be muck more difficult.

This video came up right next to Lock Picking Lawyer's latest video in my Subscription's feed. 😆

I had a "rod" style lock you have on your coupler. Someone tried to punch out the key hole but failed. It ruined the key way. Luckily, the rod was so weak, I just bent it until it broke with the pipe for the equalizer hitch.
After that, I don't bother looking for a heavy lock setup for my trailer because they pretty much all have a key way.

I bought one of these ft Knox locks for our boat trailer as we are temporarily living in a apartment. The lock seems REALLY well built and will take a lot of abuse before someone gets it off. I did run into a similar problem with what you described with the curt versions but with the UFP vs UFPXR lock covers. My boatmate trailer is stamped UFP, but is really a UFPXR sized hitch. They helped me out with getting the correct one after I sent a picture with dimensions. I do use the puck lock to makes sure and make it as hard as possible.

We are in our 70’s and just beginning this RV life with the GK’s while they are still young. I like what you did to make your trailer as undesirable as possible to try to steal. I was a little surprised at you saying you would change your locks to a puck lock. After seeing that LDL guy drill through that proven steel puck in 15-20 seconds, I believe your setup would have taken the same perp much longer to break into. Btw, I saw a master lock pro series looked very robust on Amazon ($20), that was a combo lock. Are they easier to pick than a key lock? If not, I might use that like your setup with the Fort Knox. Thanks, Larry
