My Problem with the Proven Industries Hitch Coupler Lock | PACLOCK Puck Lock Upgrade for Easier Use

- As much as I love the Proven Industries hitch coupler lock I use for my trailer, the puck lock that came with it is hard to use and had to go. Since I already use PACLOCK padlocks on my trailer, I decided to switch to one of their puck locks. Check out the results!

I don't know if this looks any easier. But nice to see an alternative.
Clever solution, Kevin. As an older person with some additional getting down to ground level deficits, this is exactly the kind of review and solution that I find useful. Thanks so much!
Paclock also has a cone puck lock that makes it even harder to drill into. It’s not unpickable, but with its security pins it is very resistant to common lock attacks.
I agree, that goofy key was difficult to use even with the lock in my hand.
It's funny that some love it and some hate it. I have since learned that Proven's lock upgrade is a really good lock and worth consideration.
I have and use a small unbreakable mirror. Problem solved!
I'm not trying to be rude but if it is that much of an issue then why not snap a picture with your phone just before opening the puck lock ? Look at the picture to see which way the key hole is oriented. No need to lay on your back and look.
Same problem with mine. Already had one pac lock and about to order another pac lock for the proven industry system.
It's a good solution for a fantastic product.
So what you’re saying is 5 minutes with a grinder to modify the coupler and I can use a pac lock? Nice! I’m in.
Why couldn't you just push up on the coupler ?
That works to close the lock but not to unlock it.
I have not used puck locks but are not the barrel key in the same location like the keyed puck lock?
What about grinding a scallop in the shroud so it would work with that puck lock and normal key
I'm sure that could be done but I didn't want to permanently modify the shroud. I figured the key was easier.
Good video. What is the gas carrier on the fender of your trailer.
I have two. One carries metal Jerry cans and you can see that review here. ruclips.net/video/cnU0PqLs6c8/видео.html. The other can be used for plastic gas cans but we use them for water cans. Here is that review. ruclips.net/video/oj14_4V_5-M/видео.html
You might like that hitch lock but I would not only have that for protection. You are lucking someone does not drive up and throw a chain around it and drive off.
I use other protective measures as well but thought it wise not to mention everything.
I use a hard carbon steel link chain around (thru) the wheels and around the axle... Still not theft proof, but just another layer (time) a thief would have to deal with...
You’ve got a $10,000 + trailer loaded with thousands of dollars worth of equipment and you’re worried about spending $100 to upgrade your lock? Interesting.
When I made this video, the information I had was outdated. I believe the Proven lock upgrade is worth it as well as the PACLOCK. I just don't care for the key on the standard lock.
