I kinda want Ish to have his own game, start us off in the beginning at sea, he clears out the infected form the sewers, tries to make his own base, then gathers people, sadly watches it collapse over one mistake and then see what happpens to Ish and Susan as they take the kids somewhere else hoping to find safety somewhere, maybe they somehow ended up in Jackson helping out everyone.
It would also be cool if they could explore other parts of the world, like if Ish went back to the docks and they repaired a boat. Then went to south america or something like that and they formed a farm/town there.
This is what Last of Us 2 should of been about. Perhaps have Ish and the survivors are shown and have a rival with Tommy’a group. Could of had a 3rd group from fireflies that did successfully create a vaccine but were powerful with tanks and helicopters and unwilling to share anything. Ish and Tommy could of made a peace to team up against the remaining fireflies and could of redeemed Joel lying to Ellie. Could of been an epic story game sequel instead of the crap we actually got
I'd really love if Ish, or someone else from these notes throughout the game, would show up in the sequel. Would just be a nice moment to make these notes feel more important.
I'd like that too! Naughty Dog was apparently going to put a note from Ish in the Left Behind DLC, but ultimately decided against it. Just goes to show that Ish has even made an impact on them! Lol. Thanks for watching! :)
feel more important? NOT having closure is one of the biggest fears one would have during an apocalyptic event. The fact that you dont know what happens with Ish, is exactly the point.
Ish is the protagonist in the beautifully written, post-apocalyptic novel Earth Abides by George Stewart. He becomes the leader of his community and it’s effort to repopulate. If you like Ish’s story in TLOU, you’re sure to enjoy his story in Earth Abides.
This was one of the sadest things in the game apart from the opening scene. I know it is only a story but Kyle and Ish's story and community is one of the part of the last of us which really struck a cord with me. What Kyle had to do at that moment with those children, knowing what the outcome was going to be, to be in that situation in real life, I don't think I could do it.
Huh I always thought there was a letter I missed that concluded this story, I guess some things can never be answered. I hope these stories continue in the last of us 2.
Evidence that Ish is in Part II: -While exploring the aquarium, Abby and Owen find the yacht that Max’s family came in on. Ish had tendencies to seek refuge on boats. -According to Ish’s surviver’s note, he, Susan, and a couple of the kids made it out of the sewers. The family in the aquarium is a father, mother, and two boys; perhaps they formed a makeshift family and the boys considered Ish and Susan their new father and mother. -Max’s murals in the aquarium are very reminiscent of the murals in the sewers. -the tone in the dad’s writings is similar to Ish’s optimistic tone I’m not 100% on whether or not the dad in the aquarium is Ish, but it could theoretically be him.

I can't imagine the disappointment the people felt for that one dumbass who left the door open and I always wonder what that person felt realizing their mistake
Yeah, this could probably never happen out in Jackson because there’s always Patrolmen day and night, and most of the people here in the sewers were either dependent on Ish or Danny for survival!
I found the whole story very sobering and moving. The game is basically presenting two questions to the audience, either survive for yourself and be alone or open yourself to others at the cost of potentially losing someone you care about. The profound thing about it is you can make two very strong cases on which option is better but you sacrifice something in the process.
It's sad to think that some people missed out on the story since they missed out on the collectibles, but leaving them dotted around was a perfect way to tell the story! I hope Part II has more "collectible" side stories like this!
There's a moral here somewhere. Sometimes Helping really is costly. Ish opening what was originally his untapped resources to help other people is what led to the downfall of his hideout.
Yeah, I guess that's the price of being able to open yourself to love sometimes. I find it so sobering because the game is presenting two scenarios where you stand to gain while potentially sacrificing something. Should you spend your days looking out for yourself and being lonely or open yourself to happiness while having something to lose.
I have a feeling that ellie might meet ish, Susan, or one of the kids ish saved in a future last of us game. As ellie gets closer to the person, they'll slowly start to open up, and just maybe, they'll bring up ish, or Susan. Honestly I doubt we would meet ish himself. He'd probably be dead. I think it would be one of the kids.
I took the time to read notes and get the lore on my recent play through, how cool would it be if in part 3 we meet Ish, who makes vague references to what happened in the sewer, but only players who took the time to read the note in part 1 will fully understand. God please give us part 3
What’s interesting is that the story doesn’t have a definite ending. Maybe Ish and a couple survivors made it somewhere. Maybe they all died. Maybe one kid survived and remembers what Ish taught him, and carries the memory of the community with him as he grows into a leader of his own community. Maybe it drove Ish to become a villainous bandit leader. There’s a bunch of what ifs here, given what Joel and Ellie have gone through it’s not hard to imagine a thousand different stories from this.
I replayed the game a while ago and found the Ish notes and they were so interesting and entertaining... sadly I could not find them all. Thank you for making a video of it.
I always thought that it was a small group of a few families, not a whole community as there wasn’t loads of body’s, and most the zombies in there were the ones that got in, not people in the group who got infected.
Mmmmm not really. I’m sure all the INFECTED (not zombies) were those who were bitten and turned. There are quite a lot of clickers, meaning they’ve been infected in the sewers for a few years. Not to mention the 10+ stalkers after Joel hits the trap door. So it did become a somewhat whole community.
I doubt it. Based on Ish's original first note you find on his boat, the events of his story happen a few months after the initial outbreak. Maybe a few years at most. So Ish and his people are long gone by the time you arrive. It's hard to say how long the hunter snipers and his men have been there, but I'm sure it's long after Ish, Susan, and the kids have left.

Even playing this game when it came out many many years ago I remember this story line and the man named Ish. I only comment cause watching the HBO series now here in early 2023 and it's so good (that 3rd episode with Frank & Bill made a grown man cry). @@bjornnno alright lol there’s not much progress a haven’t even got the animations done hoping to this week after that I need to make the gun and third person camera lock but my main goal is fun and unique combat meaning you can kill enemies based on the environment be able to access every building use every object around them smash sombodys head in to the wall kill em with a guitar every object you can think of there’s a finisher for as I said the dog is a big part of it if you weaken an enemy the dog will killem either as an ai or playing as him because you can switch between them for some fun combat the story is still In the works but I have some key events planned out I will admit it’s quite ambitious some stuff I probably can’t do but anyway I plan to soon release a bête that has infinite ammo and zombies to show it off I’m hoping to also get a bit of funding off the beta there will be a series making it on my channel that I’ll release when the game is done which will be a while so for now I would recommend following my Instagram and maybe Twitter for updates and links to the beta when it’s out anyway lol good luck reading this essay.

Ish apparently “took to the sea” but lived in grounded in Pittsburgh. No rivers deep enough lead to the sea. I wanna know what sea he was in
Really good vid dude!
Amazing video, keep it up.
Here to see what the backstory was from TLOU show
Funny that I got recommended this video after episode 5 of the last of us aired.
I wonder if ish and Danny were the 2 armored clickers you kill
@@tacos4419 there's 2 armored clickers in the sewers, I think you need a shank to open the door, but you see more letters from ish outside anyways after he escaped, so probably not
