+JR216 Yeah I wanna hear some heavy ass palm mutes. This amp kick so much ass. I think this is what you would get if a Mesa boogie Mark iii had a baby with a Marshall JCM 800
Dean Harkness - You'll love it man. Over the years I've always had days or periods where i hated my guitar tone, despite having the same settings as the previous day. I don't have those now with my 5150. I recommend the blue channel with a boost pedal as well, it gives you the option of a more oldschool metal tone. Metallica - Ride the Lightning type tones. And of course the red channel is just brutal.
This guy knows how to do a demo; play. So for all of you whom like to do gear demos; take a note: stop talking and play. I'm ChristopherCloudstrider and I approve this message.
I dont comment often, however this can not go unnoticed. Your guitar aresenal 10/10, your riff selection 10/10, your amp 10/10, your beard 11/10 Great demo and playing boss, look forward to seeing some more.
How does anyone not like this? Curious for an honest opinion. Its not mixed and mastered so much you cant tell what the amp sounds like and its not filled with an hour of shitty jokes with five minutes of playing. This is multiple styles with multiple pickups and this is what the amp will actually sound like in your room.
Great demo. I love that you played recognizable songs. It really helps to get the feel of the sound of the amp, cause you have something to compare it to. Awesome job.
No it's not! These EVH products are exclusive to EVH product. Fact! This vid is all false information! Ed isn't making an average general purpose MADMAN guitar amp products. This whole industry is dieing cause the customers are massively uneducated. 40 retail shops here have gone out of business in the last 3 years! You guys MUST STOP mixing brands! You MUST learn why your EVH is the best product for stadium Rockers. Designed by the guy in a 3 instrument and 1 lead vocal, stage show! It's NOT the product built to deal with 30 instruments! You can't use a part from a Massey tractor on an EVH sports car! People who mix brands after 1990, are people who have NO knowledge about the products they use. After the first Jimi Hendrix signature product was sold, 1990, that meant ALL signature product after 1990, is Electrically exclusive too. The limited edition Jimi Hendrix pedals are now built to be exclusive within his own line of signature pedals. Those pedals can't be used with jimi's regular pedals! Fact! It's NOT an option! The buyers aren't given another option. Electrically exclusive product! It does exist! As fender!
Well stop using somebody else's hard work and you do all the product building. Stop using the naming rights to a product for your public image video! Put your own name on this vid and never use the name from an amp which you have no clue about. The new saying of, "just cause you own it doesn't mean you know anything about it!, applies to this crazy vid. You will NOT behave like its 1980's product with 2015 era product. At some point you will get educated that you're WRONG AND CRAZY and you'll move away from this ego mania!
I was just thinking, I'd love to hear someone demo this amp playing something other than EVH songs, something like Metallica! :D Awesome! Nice playing.
I agree. Does anyone know what hes playing there? Is it a LoG riff, or his own thing, or something else? I REALLY wanna know what this comes off of....
I wasn't sure that this amp was the real deal with VH songs, but after watching you play it, well now I know that really is the VH 5150. I wish that more people would test amps like this. Great job. Thanks.
Man that amp sounds amazing. I've been looking into them when I found out Gojira uses them, but hearing you play Lamb of God on it has definitely sold me on this amp. Will definitely be picking one up now. Great video man.
Your demo is soooooo much better than the other videos. I saw a guy demoing this amp by turning the mids all the way down and playing what sounded like nickleback riffs.
To me it seems well balanced and easy to find a great tone whatever you want to play. I wouldn't say it's too bright though. All guitars are different I guess
She wolf eh? Damn didn't expect to hear that one after Holy wars and TOS. Criminally underrated song IMO. Edit: Also, sad to see no Ozzy with the RR5 in the background ;_;
Tornado of Souls!!! Love that song so much. Nice playing. What a perfect Megadeth tone that setup gives. Almost better than Dave's Marshall setup, actually.
I still remember when I went to my local pawnshop & this caught my eye so I plugged it in, set everything to noon, gave it like five chugging palm mutes on each channel & immediately bought it. For the money it’s hard to beat!
This is how every gear demo should be done. No 15 Min. of boring us to death about your pickups, tuning, fiddling with knobs, unboxing, amp features etc. Yes yes we know it comes in white and black and has 3 channels etc. Just straight getting down to it and that you did! Thank you this was very well done. Benchmark.
These are my favorites amps to play live or at home for practice. I tried so many other amps to use as a practice amp at home and they all sounded real synthetic and un natural! This EVH 5153 is perfect because it sound great ant any volume i play it at TV volumes and it still sustains and has low end! Use mine with a 2x12 retco style custom Splawn cab with creambacks.
Very very well done video. It really showed off a lot of the characteristics of the amp and the range of tones it offers and it was well recorded!! Sounded killer man keep it up and I can't wait to see more videos!
I really love your demo, I have EVH I from 80’ and I still prefer EVH amp sound instead others. The EVH III has the same spirit but a better sound. I think it’s going to be my choice once again ! Thanks
yep love this amp I added a fender 63 reverb mxr carboncopy delay black label chorus and its killer-- I want to demo a friedman 50 small box-- but for the money nothing is better then the EVH THANK YOU EDDIE !! a working man can finally get an awesome amp--
One of the better demo's of this I've hear. I think a lot of other people just dime the gain which basically makes it sound like a Boss distortion pedal. Some good tones there at lower gain levels.
Hey this is great! Loved all your choices of tunes you played! We listen to the same type of music lol That amp sounds so good! I'm here because I'm looking at EVH brand amps because I just bought the 5150III LBX 15watt stealth and a 2x12 EVH cab. I upgraded from my Peavey 6505mh and matching 2x12 Peavey cab.... and I couldn't be happier. Well, that's a lie, if I had the money for the 50watt or the 100watt head, I'd be happier lol. But for real, what a difference between the 6505mh and the 5150III LBX-S I found the EVH gear to be tighter, less noisy and it has a bottom end I was missing from the 6505 and it's matching cab. However the couple things about the 6505mh I will miss are the defeat button in the back to bypass the load on the amp for recording and stuff, the built in reverb (A nice feature but I DO have a reverb pedal so I'm good there ) and the fact that I could put the Peavey Cabinet vertical was nice too. Small things.... Thanks for posting (I know I'm 6 years late to the party)
Great tone in this demo. I really love the barking mids on this amp. I also love that sort of scratchy pick attack on the gallop picking and I think my favorite thing about the tone is how single notes really pop out when picked with a heavy hand. They just sort of jump out at you with this lovely kind of "quack" sounding attack, I really have no other way of describing it. You can really hear what I'm referring to at 3:28 in the video during the single notes on the A string. Some amps do it, others don't. The older 5150s I've owned can do it when boosted and the low end is dialed back a bit...but the 5150 III is a tighter sounding amp than the peaveys, imo. More modern, a little more dry sounding than the peaveys. Favorite tone was definitely channel 2 when you were doing the Lamb of God stuff. That sounded fantastic.
I have this amp and sounds great, it has so much gain on the blue and red channels, that an attenuator is not even necessary. Great review and demo of this amplifier.
This isn't just a metal amp or rock amp but just a great responsive touch sensitive amp. Turn the gain down on ch2 and you have a killer blues amp.At noon or 1:00 you have VH1. Channel 1 can do clean funk/disco no problem. Ch3 full on metal or fat leads. One of the best parts about it is you don't need to monkey with the tone controls to get it to sound great. Just put them all at noon sounds so good you won't be grabbing them to fix anything. Presence control is in just the right range to fit it to different cabs and tonalities. Great "feel" and an amp that will keep you up playing long after the honeymoon phase. Had a JVM, Splawn, Mesa Dual & triple, Peavey XXX and I wouldn't trade this for any of them back. Well built awesome amp. I have the V2 with dual centric controls that fixed the probs I had with the V1. Only wish is that Ch1 could get a little more overdriven as when you crank the gain it gets "gritty" but not really overdriven but I think they wanted it really clean and it is. Smells great too! Like Vanilla candy!!
The Van Halen and MegadetH tones were spot on too what I had. After that I couldn't get those tones without some type of pedal. I don't know if it was my gear(A crappy Squier and An SG) or the fact that apparently 2 tubes needed too be replaced(but that couldve just been the buyer fleecing me too save some coin). Or even just lack of any real skill at the time. But I just didn't like that amp. Watching this again for a second time definitely has me convinced I should check this out when I'm in the market for a new amp. Who knows you might see it in the background of one of videos
Awesome to see that youtube ain't deleting every video u make now!! Awesome demo brother i was hooked on that amp since I saw ur Texas mod demo vid.glad to see u back on the tube big guy! Aloha
Kudos man! I was a little skeptical in the beginning as I thought it would be another EVH love fest of songs but you crushed it after. Great tone man. I have this amp and I know it sounds even better in your studio. Good stuff! I haven't played in about 2 months and needed some motivation to plug in and wail away. Thanks. Keep on rockin' and posting!
Nice demo on the amp! You've got that "John Campbell" style beard going! LOL. Mark Morton would be proud to see his stuff being played so well on that signature series Jackson!
all this gain, only in the ... "crunch" channel, and the gain knob is not fully cranked yet... just can't belive it, this eVh is a real Beast ! in my opinion it totally kills almost all the high gain amps in the market. Besides what he has been offering to us throughout all his carrer, this is truly a great piece of art made from Van Halen, he did a great job by giving birth to this monster of high gain. thanks Van Halen

I own this amp too. Playing a LTD and fender stat guitars through it. What a rich sound it puts out. I wish that I could jam as well as Ed VanHalen. Practice makes perfect.
Dude, straight up killer! Love the Megadeth riffs...nice chugs man! Gotta start playing my EVH more! Inspiring stuff! Oh wait...just got to the Justice riff...oh snap!!!
It's refreshing to hear someone play actual riffs instead of a bunch of lame-ass solos, as if I'd buy an amp just to play leads. Good job.
+JR216 Yeah I wanna hear some heavy ass palm mutes. This amp kick so much ass. I think this is what you would get if a Mesa boogie Mark iii had a baby with a Marshall JCM 800
Yeh it's the tone that's been in my head for 20 years or more, so i got one. Somewhere in-between the american and british tones.
Dean Harkness - You'll love it man. Over the years I've always had days or periods where i hated my guitar tone, despite having the same settings as the previous day. I don't have those now with my 5150.

Dreyn77 I thought I told you to take up knitting and leave the guitar playing to real men
Dave Smith He does seem to be insane, so doesn't look like he's gonna stop anytime soon unfortunately.

Nice amp man! That Megadeth tone is spot on!
I was just thinking, I'd love to hear someone demo this amp playing something other than EVH songs, something like Metallica! :D Awesome! Nice playing.
Peter Walters he smashed out tornado of souls, holy wars by megadeth

For Your Malice is such a good song. Palaces is probably my favorite album from them
That’s what I call an amp demo. No talk, no post-production, just the good stuff. Would love to see a Marshall DSL100HR demo.
I bought this amp legit best thing that’s ever happened to me
@Matthew Prestoza Thanks mate, it does get a nice Dime tone though I had to use an mxr 6 band eq
What model Jackson is hat you're playing?
That lol
A Japanese Jackson Dominion pro model
+LambChopper678 do you find this amp to be to bright at times?
To me it seems well balanced and easy to find a great tone whatever you want to play. I wouldn't say it's too bright though. All guitars are different I guess
This is the best demo of the amp I've heard - plenty of breathing space so I can actually hear what it sounds like. Thanks!

Great review. I agree with another comment... it's good to see someone just riff and not try to dazzle us with arpeggios
I think i've just felt in love with that little beast of an amp ....

The hi gain stuff sounds sick, are these amps versatile at all for cleans and stuff too or?
They only work with all EVH brand items.
Much respect to your playing and taste in guitars!
This demo is flawless and played a major part in convincing me to buy one this morning. Thanks!
Very very well done video. It really showed off a lot of the characteristics of the amp and the range of tones it offers and it was well recorded!! Sounded killer man keep it up and I can't wait to see more videos!

Excellent demo, you and I must be musical brothers from another mother ;) Thanks for helping me find great settings for some of my favorite music.
I just got a 50 watt EVH stealth and I love it. This amp has so much gain on tap it doesn't need a boost at all. Great shirt BTW👍
I think this is one of the most pure and indicative demos of what the amp really sounds like. Great job!
Thank you mate, appreciated
Beautiful tones, killer playing and solid technique, great right hand too, effortless, You Sir are a Riff Master.
Thank you mate 👊🏻

Best demo of the EVH on youtube. Nice to hear some good tight hard rock riffs and not some 7 string sludge.
Thumbs up for busting out Holy Wars. :) Nice playing and it sounds awesome!

holy damn, this is probably the best evh 5150iii demo I've heard.
today after a lot of saving, buy this amplifier, thanks to your video, I hope and it will be heard as well as in your video!!! Thanks
I love how much gain is in this. Only half way up and it chugs. I need one!
Love this. I have a kemper, but just bought a EVH iii 50 6L6, arrives tomorrow 🤘🏻
That's a lovely set of guitars you have there my man

Best demo of this amp, pure raw sounds and killer riffs
Nice playing & tone, dude! Im amazed how good that Megadeth RIP tone was!!
Awesome demo of the rock and metal capabilities of this great amp
That Mark Morton sig and riffs do your beard the proper justice. This vid makes me feel like I've puttin off getting this amp way too long.
Excellent job. Beautiful tones. Leaps and bounds better than the 5150 I had in the 90's. As usual I am SO jealous of your Guitararsenal
MetallicuddZ Are there any similarities you noticed?
The Van Halen and MegadetH tones were spot on too what I had. After that I couldn't get those tones without some type of pedal. Daaaaayum!!!! Love how the mark Morton guitar sounds through it!!!! Awesome playing all the way around
Yes....drop dead legs....such an awesome VH tune.....nice tone...
You can’t hear! Wash your ears out. Mixing brands makes you a looser always.
I think Dimebag Darrel would’ve loved the red channel :) RIP Dime
So I had to order this amp cause man this sounds killer
sold, getting my pair asap! well done on the Panama riff! hope to learn that some day! RIP Eddie
Lamb of god stuff sounds so awesome! Especially for your malice *
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it (lol EVH love fest)
As if I didn't want this amp enough. Now I'm even more sold on it. Awesome video!
You should make more video's like this!!!! Of your settings with different songs. I find this helpful, and pretty cool.
Nice variety of riffs, and tight playing! Awesome
Dang anything is possible with that amp. Great guitar playing!
Great demo man. Really love how you didn’t have to crank the gain to achieve great tone.
Bro thank you for doing a great demo think I'm sold on this amp
You have the best 50 watt metal demo out right now 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice demo on the amp! You've got that "John Campbell" style beard going! LOL. Mark Morton would be proud to see his stuff being played so well on that signature series Jackson!
You just sold me on this amp. Ordering one tomorrow! Thank you and nice playing!
the Jackson sounds bloody great
Dude, the blue channel sounds amazing with the Jackson and those EMGs!
all this gain, only in the ... Nice video! Thanks for taking the time to do this. You pretty much nailed EVH's sound on the Blue channel. That is my favorite channel on this amp and I only use the red channel for soloing. The blue channel has the most versatility in my opinion. My settings are also very close to what yours are. \m/ I'm running the presence at 4 and it looks like you are running it at 5 from what I can tell on the video....
Best demo I’ve seen yet on RUclips. Thanks man! I have this one and just got the el34 new one that just came out. It’s great too! Blue channel on the el34 sounds like a Marshall only much better! I’ll
I own this amp too. Playing a LTD and fender stat guitars through it. What a rich sound it puts out. I wish that I could jam as well as Ed VanHalen. Practice makes perfect.
Excellent tone playing and guitar selections. Great job man.
Nice sound patches and playing. I love the mid cut sound.
Awesome stuff. I just recently acquired the EVH 5150 and it's killer! I love the sound! 🤘😎🤘
How does the amp put out such great tone at such low volumes? I had a Marshall dsl 20 and the tubes sounded thin and muddy at low volumes.
Great playing! Was thinking you had a awesome selection of riffs to jam but @ 6:37 NICE!
Best demo of the amp and awesome riffing, your awesome bro!! My gosh.
Your lamb of god tone is actually really close, I’ll be damned now I don’t need to get a mark v lol.
tanshaomala could you help me? Is this the 6l6 or the El34????
Zack Ramos it’s the 6L6
That was awesome demo of this amp. Great playing.
Those tones are damn authentic, awesome.
Dude, straight up killer! Love the Megadeth riffs...nice chugs man! Gotta start playing my EVH more! Inspiring stuff! Oh wait...just got to the Justice riff...oh snap!!!
Yes sir ! Kicking ass and not bothering taking names!
Dude i had doubts about this amp but thanks to you now i can buy it !!! Sounds killer!!!
Nice Lamb of God riffs! Trying to decide between this and the 5150 lbx...this thing sounds incredible.
Best demo of this amp hands down
10/10 Solid review over decades of metal riffs.
Thank you for not diming the gain for the entire video
