Hi folks, write under this comment your favorite Drop D riff should be on the list and you think is missing. I will make Vol. 2 vid. with your suggestions.
Disturbed - Down With the Sickness Linkin Park - Given Up Papa Roach - Kill The Noise Avenged Sevenfold - Nigtmare Those are the ones that I like the most
Soundgarden - Spoonman Muse - Psycho Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country Pantera - Walk Tool - The Pot Lamb of God - Walk With Me In Hell RATM - Wake Up Love the list, but these additions would be nice!
Hey, cool video! Deftones - My own summer is 100% meant for this list haha If you wanna throw in some wildcards Dear Prudence by the Beatles and Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac are both classic songs in Drop D with great guitar
Everlong is just a different beast of a riff to me. Nothing captures a more nostalgic/melancholic feel than the intro of that song. One of my favorites of all time.
@@GutterBallet Muse are known in literally every country on earth, they've been the best UK live rock act for almost 20 years, anyone who knows about guitar knows Matt Bellamy and his style. "Super underrated" lol give it a rest 🙄
Lol. I’m not minimizing they’re popularity at all. But there is no way when people are naming the best guitarists of the 21st century they are mentioning Matt - and they should be. That’s my point.
@@Camberwell86 "anyone who knows about guitar know matt bellamy" lol what a joke. What if i tell you yngwie malmsteen has never even heard about matt bellamy?
@@wilko6679 I watched a couple if live shows he plays in Drop D, you can see he plays open d power chord at syncopated part also the triplet legato part is same as I tabbed, you need to watch carefully
Some suggestions for part 2: RATM - Freedom Tool - Lateralus Opeth - Blackwater Park Alice in Chains - We Die Young (technically drop Db) Soundgarden - Spoonman
These are awesome but Slither by Velvet Revolver is definitely in top 20! Not quite as fast as the ones at the end but still awesome! Great job man! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah isn`t it weird. I was thinking, before even watching this video............I bet Helmet is NOT in here........and of course it wasn`t. All the videos on Drop D riffs I´ve seen, doesn`t contain Helmet, and I don`t get it. They are, like you wrote, " The Kings Of drop D " !!!!!! Take care dude.
bro, I'm a self-taught and I was watching the video for about 15 minutes and I was able to polish Killing in the name and 2 other songs better, damn, this motivated me a lot, you are great
When I saw Nightmare I couldn’t believe that was the one avenged song you picked and then you also gave us Unholy Confessions 🤘🏼 Also great shout out to Mark Morton on the last song, such a great tune and always good to hear more Chester 😍
Unchained by Van Halen is the undisputed gold standard of this tuning pattern. I know it's not in D, but it is shows what is capable more than any other example
Cross off is underated if you ask me. One of the few songs Chester Bennington last performed on and it's a badass track. Mark Morton really rips that riff apart.
Who doesn't love a good ol drop D banga! This is awesome! A couple that come straight to mind that I enjoy to play that weren't on here are Silverchairs Isreals Son and Soundgardends Spoon man.
This is a really good list like really good!!! But I wouldn’t say greatest when songs like Spoon Man and Outshined by SoundGarden aren’t on the list. But it’s still a great list though.
The beauty of music is even if I disagree with 90% of these even being good riffs it's still so much fun to watch and discover what other think of as their favourite riffs. Very nicely played too.
@@Hrybread yes, I do do actually think that. It's music, it's art, so it's all about taste. Also, I mention a riff I like and you reply "lmao that sucks" because you're upset with my original comment. Not good doesn't mean bad, it means anything from "bad" to "mediocre". Most of these, to me, are mediocre.
dude.. I have never heard of you. Now I have. after 2 minutes, I felt obligated to watch the rest of your video. After 4 minutes I wanted to jam with you. at 6 minutes??? In absolute awe..
Love these vids, the problem is everyone uses the same 20 riffs. It would be cool to see this video with top 20 drop d songs after 2018 since most of these are early 2000s
Unchained by VH is the ultimate example of one of the best drop D guitarriffs. Lay it down also. Notice how much melody these riffs have compare the the rest !!! 🤘
excellent vid totally awesome. i know you were sticking to the heavier stuff but i still think 'DEAR PRUDENCE' by THE BEATLES would've made a fine addition to this list.

'Blackwater Park' and 'The Metal' are two drop D riffs that belong in the top 20 drop D riffs. I'll be cocky and say this is objective even though it's entirely subjective.
Heart shaped box introduced me to Nirvana from guitar hero and from that I started playing guitar......who'd think 15 years later I'd be playing still because of a video game

Could have picked a better one for nightmare. But still Unholy Confession is iconic!
"Lay it Down" doesn't get enough credit. Super cool riff.
ratt themselves don't get enough credit
@@tugboatfan3784 Ratt are a great band. I enjoyed a lot of their music as a teen in the 80s
Bro the fact that 2 trivium riffs made it on here shows how good ascendancy is. The golden age of drop d imo
Love the addition of Muse’s Newborn. Matt Bellamy is a super underrated guitarist.
Muse sounds like a 5 members band
The huge sound they make as a trio is crazy good. They’re even better live.

Lamb of God -Walk with me in Hell is very similar

The fact Helmet isnt on this list is crazyy, listen to any of their songs, they are the kings of Drop D
I was going to write the same thing. They’re the kings of modern Drop D guitar
I was just about to comment that it’s a shame Milquetoast isn’t on here
Unsung because it's extremely tight in the groove or Crashing Foreign Cars.
Lamb of God : Hold my guitar

March Of The S.O.D. definitely should have been among these riffs.
I remember this one was used for the Headbanger's Ball segway!
Smooth AF transitions between the riffs 👌
Nicely done, sir.
nice selection of riffs and killer sound, I love it 🔥
First thing that came to my mind was Everlong. Great video
What a blast from the past. Excellent groovy selection!

@@MrRolyat98 C#, or the closest Van Halen get to it with their "by ear" tuning. They mostly tuned down half a step to get that darker feel

"Lay it down" first?
Dang boy, fancy start.

Pretty much every A7X song😂
