I always love it when Freeman is portrayed as an ordinary lost person with emotions, who lost everything in the blink of an eye and saved the world, just to be in a future where the Earth was enslaved by the Combine. Freeman is an ordinary scientist who lost his former life forever, and gave his all to save the world and became a symbol of hope for all mankind.
This made me think to his future, I really hope Gordon stays himself if and when valve puts him in another half life. I hope he stays the stoic voiceless man of action there to do what he has to save the day. Like a real hero

Yeah, Gordon's a real trooper, having dealt with all of what he's seen and still trying his hardest to fight for the sake of humanity.
