@@sombremerdeThere's no way Gordan Freeman doesn't have PTSD after the events of Black Mesa. I think it's actually quite healthy that we can recognize how much of an impact that would have on someone now.
I imagine Gordon has a hateful dependency on that suit. He doesn't want to go anywhere near it because that's when shit starts blowing up, but at this point he's too paranoid to even approach a window without it.

When we all first played this game, we thought Gordon was a legendary action hero like how the rebels saw him. Now we realize he was just the right man in the wrong place.
Gordon Freeman has literally killed over 1000+ enemies with just basic weapons training. I think that qualifies him as a legendary action hero.

Half-Life 3 is never coming, unless you count HL: Alyx.
The plot for the sequel (possible final) is already set at this point. And it should end by the destruction of the Combine and a final standoff between Gordon and the Gman.

I love videos like this. And whenever Gordon is brought up I like to remind people that for Gordon these events take place over like a week to him. He doesn't experience the years in stasis. He goes right from the end of hl1 to learning everything and almost everyone he knew has changed or gone away. He really hasn't had time to process everything that has happened to him.

when Gordon is fighting the combine at 1:45 it doesn't feel like he's fighting for the rebels, it feels like he's fighting alongside them

Despite being the single most important member of the resistance he's still risking his life taking parts in basically human wave attacks against the enemy's armors

Gordon Freeman is basically Doom Slayer with more emotion and fear.
both respectable franchises the way I see it
I really like Freeman. I feel like he is a much better exemplar of the human form than Doomguy. Doomguy is the exemplar of rage, just a very angry man with nothing to lose.
But Freeman has plenty to lose, and he uses his anger as a tool, and not all the time. He is the Free Man, an exemplar of cunning, ingenuity, and lateral thinking. Freeman solves convoluted puzzles, he uses crazy science stuff to get him out of thick mud, and he needs help from his friends sometimes, like the airboat, the car, and Mossman's sabotage.
Freeman is a very human character, and that's what I like about him. If I were to show aliens what makes humans special, I think Freeman would be a prime example.

For example, key figures are "required" to survive which indicates Gordon Freeman strongly values these people, Eli, Alyx, Gregori, etc. He's also heavily sought scientist roles and can only progress in certain areas by solving puzzles, which indicates a propensity for the virtues science requires.
I like to think G-Man has a Doctor Strange interpretation of the universe. He knew that if he brought Gordon out of stasis and placed him on that train at that exact moment, he would be exactly lucky enough to shape events in his favor. Removing him from stasis one second later or sooner and Gordon would have been killed by something, be it a bullet or a headcrab.
I know that I’m gonna sound like a nerd here, but canonically Gordon is revived by the G-man every time he dies in game, so he will always be there to finish the story. So the G-man is more of a god-like being imo, as he can revive people and (presumably) see the future

@@killerhellhound there is a rebel voice line in hl2 where a rebel says “don’t worry, he’s done this before, he’ll get up again” (or something along those lines) implying that Gordon has somehow has died before and have been revived by the G-man, presumably.

I mean let's be honest, he's a good man, but he's probably still in shock from black mesa during the events of half life 2, then more shock from the events of half life 2 + figuring out while he was asleep humanity fell, all that instant trauma has probably (at least temporarily) rendered him a sociopath

You also have to realize, Gordon was at the same level as Eli, Kleiner and Magnusson. As he displayed immense prowess throughout the series, he was never a simple scientist to begin with.
Also at 0:55 the Dropships were only created AFTER the earth was succesfully colonized, as it integrated the human species onto the design as well as using the appropiate material grades.
This music, this staging of scenes, everything conveys the atmosphere of the game! I really got into the scenes with Gordon Freeman, I felt that hopelessness and at the same time the determination to move on. Honestly, I really love the history of the games, the atmosphere and the community, and I know a lot about Half Live, but I wasn’t a fan and didn’t play it. This clip inspired me a lot and now I will go through all the parts and even modifications! I want to say thank you to the author of the edit, and a film about Gordon Freeman would be great.

To any people thinking Gordon started the resonance cascade. Please do the research and realise that Gman quite literally sent the sample of the Xen Crystal first. And since we'll I don't know. Gordon most possibly didn't know about the past Xen interferences.

0:58 I like the realistic, well fought out portrayal of the Combine invasion of Earth when they did the Seven Hours War using ships/carriers/technolgy that we haven't seen as one of the big mistakes content creators on RUclips make when presenting how the Seven Hours War occoured you often see only re-use Human combine soldiers (or other Half Life 2 Combine assets) and other similar things when in fact the soldiers/vehicles/technology we see in Half Life 2 and it's sequels are nothing more than glorified military police guarding an far away outpost as we haven't actually seen the full on real Combine military which to put as Eli said in HL2:E2 - "It'll be the Seven Hour War, all over again, except this time we won't last seven minutes" which there would be a total defeat once again if the Combine military were to use the portal to get to Earth.. or to use the technology found on the borealis...
The administrator sees and even calls gordon, "Just an ordinary man," if an ordinary man can take down the combines, then the rebels can exterminate them all

it’s very likely fan made. i got that clip from a hl2 animation (which you can find in the description) and during that scene with the big ship model, it (what i guess) shows the 7 hour war and the combine invading earth. if i said it was a gunship, I’d probably be wrong, so my best guess is that it might me that big ship thing you see in half-life: alyx where the gman was in. i’ve not played half-life: alyx so i don’t know what it’s called.

if you read epistle 3, that kind of seems the direction it goes, but ultimately Gordon realizes the futility of the struggle and ends his adventure on a beach reserved to exist in a world where no one remembers him, for readability i would recommend a translated version where the names are corrected

The Half Life 2 bits hit different after playing Black Mesa. Like, Gordon finally escaped the hellhole(Black Mesa), after witnessing all the cursed shit, thinking he saved everyone from the aliens, etc. but instead of taking a rest after that, he sees himself on a train stopping at city that has been taken over by some cruel alien empire. A city that once belonged to the humans.
even though he is a fictional character, he deserves a statue. after all the atrocities he has seen and been through and he never talks.
