There is a significant difference between backup and sync !!
what's significantly different between the two?
@@xilllllix backup is one way and sync is two way, if you accidently deleted your back up files, nothing will happen, if you delete your synced files, they are lost

My drive and computers is very confusing. But I do think they both sync? Only difference is computers keeps your folders the same as they are on your computer and in My Drive you can set up folders anyway you want. They should only have one. @@meta5175

You can use Google Photos, it automatically updates the photos that you take, and you can share with your friends and family online

may i ask, im switching laptop from one to another, making sure everything is in gdrive before i reset the old laptop. I have a few folders in the laptop synced with Gdrive. However, do i have to move the content inside the synced folders on gdrive from under MY LATOP to MY DRIVE cuz once the old laptop was reset, the synced folders on gdrive will disappear together too ?

What happens if windows does windows thing and drive gets corrupted, then can the files be recovered from google drive?
Can the sync location be changed to a shared drive?
I have been using this method for years and everything has been working great. Recently I just got a little paranoid. What if I by mistake delete a file on the computer and the change is synced with Google drive? Google drive will then delete the file and I will become a very sad man... Should I have a second hard drive to do a third hard drive for extra safety or do you have any other suggestions?
You can choose to backup only, not sync. Problem is if you delete files on computer they will stay in Drive unnecessarily.
What do you do when you change password on the account ?

i mean there's a 15Gb limit unless you pay for more space. I recommend you to try and be more selective with what you want to keep safe. You may want to keep photos, drawings, or some files for school or whatever you do. You save the stuff you can't replace and you might want to see in the future.
You probably don't care to keep stuff like application data (in Documents, Program Files etc) because you're never gonna need that, it's just what apps generate to run. You probably also don't care for videogames because you can always download them again from wherever you bought them. Hope this helped :)
i have the opposite problem, all of my files are backing up when i only want two files to upload...
Do all my devices need to be the same size? What if I just want to access files from my phone (and I have 2T of stuff)? Will the 2T try to synch the phone?
Backup, not sync. Unless it's photos/videos who has 2tb? Backup photos and videos and choose whether to keep locally or not. If you need them just go to drive app on device and browse them.

Can you work directly on this backed up folder? Im gonna use it mainly to work on files switching between my mac and windows
Yes just use the folder like normal on your device and it will automatically sync :)

this only works as a mirror, if you delete a file in your computer it also gets deleted in drive. Is there a way to change this?

I also have...really cruddy internet...so all my stuff STAYS on my computer, right? I am not handing over MY files to be locked out by Google if I don't make my payment? This seems to be how Apple does it....I hate that.
If I delete something from the Google Drive, will it also delete it in my computer after the sync? In other words, does the sync work both ways, or only one way (computer to drive)
This method only shows sync . Sync & backup is not the same thing .
I don't have that Icon and my google drive looks nothing like this

@@munna1337z yes, if I upload it by myself manually (not sync it to be uploaded automatically) then it wont get deleted from the device

This is not automatic, you have to manually select every folder.. Dude.
it is automatic as in, it backs up automatically. What, you want Google to read your mind and know which ones you want backed up?
