I shifted from iCloud backup to Google Photos by following your step by step tutorial, and I am so happy now. Never worried about where my photos are... Does Google Drive let you backup multiple PCs separately? OneDrive syncs select PC folders across PCs making those folders across PCs unified, which is silly and not what people want (people may have separate PCs - Work PC, Home PC and they may want the native folders on each PC to be kept separate yet backed up). Secondly OneDrive only lets you backup limited folders; it does not let you backup Downloads, C drive...
?Now that Back up and Sync is out, how about an update. I learned a lot from your excellent video. I also experienced some losses when my old computer hard drive crashed. Now I have folders for My Computer and My Computer (1). Can these be joined? Thanks.
The error of "Backup and Sync is no longer available" started rolling out after 1st October 2021. That's when Google decided it was time to retire Backup and Sync and replace it with the desktop version of Google Drive.
Hi MJ, thanks for this. I could not make head nor tail of the W back-up either and I am a far less sophisticated user than you. Someone told me to just back up my user drive to a USB but that seems not to work properly. I just bought annual Google One so I shall have a go at this soon... Thanks again!

I recently and grudgingly signed up for the extra Google drive storage because my free Google drive space for photos was used up. but if I can easily backup my computer onto Google Drive then it is well worth it. Thank you for showing me how. I'm a little bit confused about the part where it says remove both copies. if I want to keep it on my computer and in the Cloud, why would I click remove both copies?

Google Drive - 1.99/month or 19.99/year for 100GB. I paid 19.199 per /year. This was the best deal I could find on any familiar cloud storage. There might be other cloud storage cheaper than Google Drive but haven't found one yet.

i think google has retired backup and sync which makes this video now irrelevant, or in need of an update. would of been on the mark 2years ago.

have you tried lifetime Pcloud? it works the same but you only have to pay once

Good video! By the way, I also get very frustrated with with Microsoft sometimes. Don't understand why they make so many things hard to understand.

but how do you restore data from "computers" folder ? as it doesn't show up on virtual drive, but only shows my drive content

this is sync, not a backup. if you delet the file from your pc you will loose it on your google drive too.
