    Nice build dude, i just acquired an 86 xj with the same engine. Trying to rebuild it myself. Id like to maintain the fuel mileage, but lord do i wanna get this cleaned up and looking like your compartment.

    @ Giantj6ft7 Just disconnect all steel lines to the manifolds and plug them with pipe plugs, then unbolt the smog system from the coil bracket and leave the air pump attached.

    How much did the motor up cost?

  • @timothyzeimet4972
    @timothyzeimet4972  10 лет назад

    Valves are adjusted when the lifter is on the heel of the cam lobe and it's lowest lift. If you have the original cam and lifters installed, loosen each rocker arm nut until you can spin the pushrod freely. With the lifter on the lowest lift start to tighten the arm nut while spinning the pushrod. When you feel resistance spinning the pushrod stop turning the nut. This is called zero lash. Turn the nut a additional 1 and 1/2 turns to set lifter preload. Turn engine over and repeat with others. If this is difficult to understand you may need to seek out someone who has done this before.

      Cesar Garcia sorry its been a year. usually drop all bolts from the cover except for 2 on one side, loosen those 2 slightly and smack the pan with a mallet. fluid will spill so be ready to catch. hold pan with 1 hand and remove the 2 remaining. lower pan and dump fluid.

      And no header's! Headman makes 4x4 header's that will work, just get a trans adapt 1650 oil filter relocater or a 4x4 oil filter housing ( kinda hard to find used) the relocater is 100 bucks on summit, mine will be here tomorrow

      Redneck gospel sorry its been 2 years, master kit was provided by enginetech. on a side note from personal experience always check orientation of the cam bearings before paying the machine shop for the work done for proper alignment of the oil wedge. or do it yourself.

      yes sir, gm 2.8 v6, but it has a lunati 441 cam. the valve lash adjustment for that cam was a half turn from zero lash on the cam base lobe of that valve. im sure it would be different for a jeep 2.8

    Major Update On Running Status
    Since i built this motor 2 years ago a lot of things have happened.
    1. I didnt run the cam under a high rpm for 20 minutes and didnt let the cam lobes break in so the cam lobes flattened and im currently aquiring parts for a new cam and electric fuel pump conversion
    2. Since added a weber 38mm carb and ditched the varajet carb.
    More videos will come throughout the repair. As of now it sits off to the side since the completion of my 4.3 tbi.
