1:53:03 INCORRECT. The Reaper was a skin that looked a lot like John Wick, that came out in Fortnite, and everyone was saying this guy looks like John Wick. However, it was never supposed to be John Wick. Sometime later Fortnite actually released a real John Wick skin based on Keanu Reeves, and that skin is actually called John Wick.
1:07:15 I was surprised to find the NFL revenue in 2019 is not even half of the US video game industry revenue in 2019 (if the numbers I found online can be believed). That said, it has little to do with revenue of segments or subsegments of an industry and more to do with interest/viewership. In 2019, the average viewership of a regular season NFL game was about 22 Million. The 2019 Super Bowl had 98 Million viewers. No less than 43 Million people in the US saw Avengers: Endgame in theaters. TGA 2019 had only 45 million livestreams. E3 is a little hard to judge, but in 2019 Microsoft had the highest viewership at 1.5 Million. Elden Ring sold 20 Million copies worldwide within the first year, but that is an outlier and not all of those 20 Million copies represent a person who would be willing to watch a video game news show. Also, Hi-Fi Rush is a smaller game, and they tend to be given that $30-$40 price tag.
Fun fact: When you save videos from Hi Fi Rush they save under the name "Hibiki," so I think that was the internal name for the game. Also, Chai wears a strap on his waist that says HIBIKI. Hibiki is Japanese for 'Sound.'
I ABSOLUTELY get excited about the size of a game world. I bought and loved Fuel, warts and all, because it felt like you could just drive and drive and still see new terrain and biome changes. That discovery is a big part of what made Minecraft so attractive and fun too.
Echoing Jacob's sentiment, Hi-Fi Rush is genuinely a dream come true. For years I have listened to bands like Nine Inch Nails and The Prodigy and tried to imagine a rhythm based character action game incorporating their music. Then comes along Tango GameWorks, a studio I have adored ever since The Evil Within 2 dropped, with a game that perfectly encapsulates that mental image. A game that is a love letter to action games, animation, and music all at once. On top of that, it has a wonderful cast of characters with a really fun story and the structure and style of a Suda51 game, like if Lollipop Chainsaw was a Saturday morning cartoon. Absolutely masterpiece. Easily would have been my GOTY for 2022 if it came out a month earlier. (Also Ben, there's no Low Road song in the game)
Usually I don't marathon games but last year I really wanted to play Metal Gear Rising:Revengeance again, so on a Saturday I just started the game between 10AM and noon and finished it around 8 PM. Sadly I don't remember what I did to break up the game a little, how I drank water and had lunch but it was a great Saturday, I loved the game, it wasn't a pressure because I already knew the mechanics and I didn't pay attention to the story the slightest and I still had so much fun. MGR:R is still great!
Dead Space is glorious absolutely love it, I'm with Jacob best remakes IMO are, RE1, FF7, and now this. RE2R and especially 3 changed a bit too much for my liking still great games though. So it is not really a AAA game. But I am just guessing. If they've spent 200 million dollar to the game, then I am wrong.
The reaper and John wick skins are two seperate skins in fortnite. Reaper was the wick knockoff before fortnite blew up and got the official character.
Hi Fi Rush will win GOTY for the simple fact that anyone who touches that game regardless of their background or genre preference will immediately be hooked. I dare someone to NOT enjoy that game! Great coverage and enthusiasm towards a hidden banger! Keep up the great work, cheers!

Episode 3 of last of us was hands down the best episode of television ive seen in years. Its been almost a week and im still thinking about it and getting emotional about it all the time. That will stay with me for a long time
I do agree with Jacob that Last of Us was kind of always ready made to be turned into prestige TV, but I think that's selling what the show's pulled off so far a bit short. To me it's like these first three episodes are demonstrating the range of adaptation approaches they're willing to use and how well they can pull each one off. Episode 1 was like them going, look we can just straight up adapt the already very cinematic opening of The Last of Us as it is for a TV show, while expanding on it in places. Episode 2 showed how they could take a section that's mainly traversal, exploration, and stealth gameplay and make it work as an episode. Episode 3 showed that they can make drastic changes to the source material and just produce a damn good episode of television.
