1) Avoided sun exposure. 2) Used active ingredients ie. retinoids, vitamin C, growth factors. 3) Anti-Aging Treatments that injure skin to stimulate collagen ie. microneedling, chemical peels, lasers. 4) Cosmetic treatments ie. HA, Niacinamide, Squaline, Essential lipids. * EDIT: This was a re-cap of his talking points, not my opinion! I was making bullet points to save your time!
Many people DO NOT see any effects from skin injury, to create collagen!! How many people have auto immune? Multi millions that’s who! Auto immune blocks that as inflammation from the micro needle, is way more than a normal immune system person’s. It blocks collagen making .
Yip yip.. I got religious about my skin 3 years ago , buying anything and everything . For most people you’re not just going to accidentally pick up the products or chemicals he mentions. I was so excited to watch this video because this is almost spot on to what I use. I have expanded and got different retinoids and different acids, and I cycle in and out. so I will see how that treats me. But absolute the retinoids , ha, squalene, true vitamin C that does not break down and skin acids that slough off and agitate the dead skin and help regenerate new skin are a must and on top of that sunscreen every day is a must even if you stay inside, I don’t care, and then of course good moisturizers… Yes, I’m just super excited that I follow the routine mentioned here and it took me probably $1000 or more products and lots of research to understand the basics of what our maturing skin needs. I’m still learning and experimenting with my products , the ordinary is a cheaper line of the products that are pure and real , versed had a great cheap glycolic acid jelly mask , L’Oréal has a great glycolic acid face wash ( mind blown how smooth , soft and clean it leaves your skin ) I could go on and on bug just find your happy place and be patient , after six months of a prescription retinoid, I was starting to lose faith and shortly after that, the magic really started happening..
If I don’t have sun I’ll get depressed. Yep at 60 I’ve been doing skin care for only 10 yrs and it has made a huge difference. You are never to old! Good luck beauties
I agree, I’m 63 and gotta have my sunshine-with a lil sunscreen, of course. I’ve only been doing actives & at home devices for 8 years, but the improvements are miraculous-you can turn back clock!
agree! avoiding the sun has just as many health risks. We are meant to be in the sun, as that’s how we make vitamin D. Our brains register the light waves and set our circadian rhythm. What we can do, is pick the least damaging times to be in the sun, we are protection and protective clothing, and have other healthy lifestyle habits. I’m amazed also at the home devices available now along with up-to-date skin care. I’m 63, and have always enjoyed the sun in the summer. It’s my most happy time! I will never avoid the sun, but I will be mindful of skin exposure.
Where I live we have several months of cold weather. Every year I tend to get SDD. I always take 5000 units of Vitamin D every day. Even at that nothing replaces sunlight. I don't care for hot summers, bit I do like spring.
I’m 71 and still get compliments on my complexion. In the 1950s my babysitter told me to stay out of the sun, use ponds cold cream and wash with dove soap. She was an old lady with good skin so I listened to her advice. At age 12 I started wearing Meryl Norman powder base foundation. The main ingredients is zinc oxide which has acted as a sun block. In my 30s I started using retin A . In my 50s I did photo facials. Presently I get cryo freeze facials, use C serum in the morning and retinol cream and a face cream with ceramides and amino peptides. Recently I’ve done micro channeling with excellent results. I use a brush on my body and a good body cream following my brushing in the shower. I use my face products on my hands. I use my foundation on my hands too.
You're great at explaining. I have a question, how do you manage to maintain your routine for all these years? Doesn't it get tiring? And it would've probably been expensive as well...
I lived in stockholm for two years with barely any sunshine. My skin looked good but I was utterly depressed. Balance is key. Morning sun is good for you.
Have you considered oral vitamin D3? You may be low in it which can affect mood. I completely avoid the sun and have done for 30 odd years. I take a D3 supplement and my D3 levels are healthy. Also use light therapy to avoid seasonal affective disorder - no need to be in the sun 😊
Morning sun is healing power. Vit D3 cannot replace the sunlight from early in the morning until about 10AM. Your mood and general health will thank you.
I'm 45 now, I started to take care of my skin at 17, I use for almost 3 decades now Retin A I avoided the sun almost all my life and trust me it's a challenge because I live in a very sunny location, but my dermatologist told me at 17 to avoid the sun, to use Retin A during all my life, to do chemical peel at the least one a year etc etc Coupled with good genes, these very good tips allowed me to keep a youthful skin and a fresh look, people are always amazed when they know my age. Another piece of advice I will give is to pay attention to your food, play sports, and keep the same weight all your life.
I baked in the sun since I was a baby. I am nearing 70 and hardly have any wrinkles. I am Caucasian, but have olive toned skin. I imagine I got blessed with good genes when it comes to wrinkles l have always used great skincare- even as a teenager. I have been on retina A since my early 20’s or as far back as I can remember as an adult…so I am sure that helped. Used to get a lot of professional facials when I was younger, too. I use a lot of vitamin c and glycolic products. I take a lot of vitamin c internally, too. That helps with collagen. I get lots of rest, walk a lot, weight train, etc. Try to avoid stress at all cost. I have seen tons of people that never go in the sun and their face is terribly wrinkled l think cigarettes and stress do far more damage than the sun. Extreme stress is one of the leading causes of wrinkles in my opinion and consistent lack of sleep.
Sun bathing or exposure causes major wrinkles if your skin is not protected. I have anxiery and don't always have the best of sleep but I hardly sun bat 10:03 he, wear SPF, only started to use retinol A for the last two years/tretinoin. I always took care of my skin though. I was never overweight until I hit my late thirties. I look more than 10 years younger than my age. I can easily pass for someone I their early thirties even though I'm going to be 48.
My dad gets skin cancer pretty often. Seeing him have multiple instances of melanoma really scared me at a young age. He and my mom bathed me in sunscreen and I am so thankful.
Hey, if this is happening to him its because he is deficient in vitamin B3 and vitamin E. Niacin protects the skin and vitamin E remove the damages caused by the oxidation.
Chemical sunscreena are No Good!!! Stick w/ mineral sunscreens on face & body. Pacifica has some good one's. Just be sure to check ingredients. Some of them are mineral based, some chemical based.
Oh my gosh I love this doctor! I’ve been a Aesthetician for 30 years and everything he has stated is absolutely true. I’m forwarding this utube to my clients. I feel they will still listen to a Doctor’s advice before me! I’m 66 and I don’t have a wrinkle on my face but still they need to hear from the doctor. Lol I’m ready to retire so I don’t take it too personally! If I can at least give them the info before I leave this industry I know I did my best to give them the most up to date info possible.
Dr Karam I’m 68. I learned the adverse effects of sun exposure in my early 20’s through a med student. I’ve avoided sun since then and started Ret. A in my early 30’s. I have done all these thing through the years you have mentioned here. It has really paid off although this lifestyle is not easy. I also avoid sugar and excess alcohol. My question is what do you think of oral supplements such as Helios that gradually help build UV tolerance. My daughter started using them and her skin has never looked better. She is 45. She has also done a similar protocol as me although goes in the sun more than I. Btw you are one of the few surgeons I would allow to do a facelift on me. Your work is incredible. Medicine is both skill and art. Thank you for such great advice. You are spot on.
39 years ago I was in a winter snow storm accident. 200 stitches to face, some were micro and multiple layers. Plastic surgeon came into trauma hospital in the snow to stitch me up. Great job, visible for years. But a great job. Only option then was massaging the scar, and no sun. I was very young and my soul needed to be outdoors. Only SPF sunscreen I could find, was a special order at a burn unit hospital. Stocked for burn patients. It was wonderful to apply it and go outside. It was 45 SPF. It saved my skin. Now I use SPF 70.
"It was 45 SPF. It saved my skin. Now I use SPF 70." I have heard doctors say that SPF beyond a certain level (30? or 50?) has little to no benefit. That is why I do not bother to spend $$$ on higher priced SPF.
My mother is 87 and her skin is beautiful. I am 63 and have lived in the Pacific Northwest for 30 years. I have rarely sunbathed. Sunscreen on my face, neck and chest always. I do let my legs get sun in summer. And good skincare plus a diet with a lot of greens and olive oil.
A really useful video - I got into serious skin care at 40 (16 years ago) - been using tretinoin, Vit C, SPF30+ daily - total game changers. I have added an LED face mask as well ❤
This was a great video! Really appreciated a look at that age range. It was very straight forward and easy to follow. Really enjoyed the progression photos. Seriously, an exact "how to" video/instructions on where to start and move forward with skin care. THANKS!
It's true. It's definitely a generational difference. I'm same age as you and Gwyneth and we used to just sunbathe for hours, with baby oil, for MORE effect! Now I'm watching all these skincare videos telling me to slather on the sunscreen and I'm finally taking it to heart because, hello 50! I'm definitely hopeful to see positive changes in my skin already, with just minimal education about skincare...so hopefully by this time next year I'll be looking even better!
Dr. Amir, I truly love your skin school videos, they are full of knowledge and I learn so much from you. I’m 43 and always took great care of my skin, I love good skin care products deeply. I wasn’t always that careful with the sun, I’m from Spain and we love sunshine here. I now always wear SPF on my face. Could I ask you for a comprehensible skin care routine? How many times a week you use retinol? And vitamin C? Growth factors? Do you mix them? I mean can you apply growth factors and then retinol or vitamin c? I need some light on this. Thank you!! 🙏❤️
My mom told me to stay out of the sun, and I listened! I also did everything else you've described here, thanks to the guidance of a great dermatologist I started seeing in my 20s. I have a 12-year-old grandson, and people still compliment my skin quite often! I'm grateful🙏🏼😍
Hello from the not-very-sunny UK! The BEST and most sensible talk I've seen on RUclips about skin ageing. 😊👍 I'm 59 and passionate about lotions and potions and remember the utter thrill of saving up and buying my first cleanser, toner and moisturiser at about 11 (the original Simple range). I'm lucky in that I have good genes, low sun exposure and have always cared for my skin, but in the past couple of years I've upped my game. After lots of research I'm very pleased to say that I use a vitamin C and niacinamide serum in the morning, sunscreen, and then a retinol about 3 times a week. One product I've found to be amazing is organic rosehip oil - it's like a facial in a bottle. I'm actually not too fussed about ageing per se, for me it's more about enjoying using my products and having a healthy skin. My one big tip for looking youthful, lads and lasses? DON'T wear foundation - what an utter con! Use a little concealer if you must, but a good blurring primer wins every time. Revlon photo ready is brill.
I think we age pretty well on the whole in The UK, so many of us don’t like the heat and don’t sit in the sun (obviously I’m generalising but we do moan when it’s too hot 😂)
Oh sooo true Tallis - lovely name by the way. The heatwave in the summer nearly finished me off! When it was hot at night I would wear wet socks with the fan blowing on my feet.😜😂😂
ABSOLUTELY ❤️ and I thought it was just me!! I'll be 60 this year and NEVER wear foundation, don't own concealer, but I do have a couple of good blurring primers that I'll use where needed. Do my brows, blush, mascara, sometimes a little eye shadow, a little pressed powder, and that's it for a walk out the door! If I'm not leaving home, I'm not wearing makeup! We'll just call that an extra moisturizer day or a treatment day or a clean face day and wear nothing! That only happens about once a month, but I like to let my skin completely breathe with nothing on it every so often. I've learned to love my skincare routine and not look at it as a chore I need to rush through but as a loving self-care time that actually feels really good. I've seen The Ordinary brand mentioned on here several times and I do use their face peel. I just started so no real results yet. I also went through a horrible bout of depression after ending a 20-year relationship then losing both of my parents after prolonged illnesses. I was their only caregiver so I was devastated in so many ways. I stopped all self-care for about 5 years and have just gotten myself back last year. It's still a daily struggle, but I must say focusing on something like this helps tremendously! Be blessed 🙏🏼🪷
I love how Dr. Karam have those main topics on the screen so it's so easy to us to print it. By the way, the quality of this channel content is awesome! I'm Brazilian and I always follow and listen to foreign dermatologists/plastic surgeons.
As a young girl growing up in the 1970's...I suspect that many in my age group look pretty rough these days...in their 60's...like I do. Back then, we were using baby oil to "tan" when we actually "burned". We used suntanning products with chemicals all over our bodies and our faces. There was no "skin awareness" in that time frame. Bronze was beautiful...white was NOT. I was a white girl with freckles and very light skin. There was little mention of sunscreen. Neither myself nor my friends worried about it. Our mothers never mentioned sun damage...until we would come home...burned red as a beet. They still didn't warn us...but we applied the Aloe Vera to heal the burn and we continued "burning for beauty" for the succeeding years...until we all learned the hard way...that we were WRONG. So...hyper-pigmentation, wrinkles, anti-aging products were rarely available mainstream...until I reached my 40's. Throw in alcohol and cigarettes on my part...STUPID ME. Young women today have so much more available to protect their skin. Beauty Influencers and Ulta and Amazon make it easy to learn about and purchase anti-aging skin products in many different price ranges. I am so grateful that young women and men do have access to good skincare and effective products. I am also grateful that my grandaughter and daughters-in-law will have much more beautiful skin as they age, than our generation did. As will my sons and grandsons. So... I can choose to spend 30-50 dollars on a 30 ml bottle of HA, Retinoid, Chemical Peel or VIT C...or I can spend ten dollars on a bottle from "The Ordinary". Thank Goodness for THEM. Even with my "bargain skincare routine"...I still spend 75-100 per month on my FACE trying to fix IT. Live and learn...too late.
I have used tretinoin & taken stellar care of my skin since my 20s. Also educated myself on active ingredients & combining them for a optimum regimen. I am 54, I am guessed in my 30s, I kid you not. It does work beauties❣️
Fantastic segment! In my 60s I recently started using actives. Trentinoin and Vit C serum, along with good quality moisturizers with hiliuronic acid. I was ahead of the game though, because I NEVER did any tanning in my adult years. Always wore sunscreen an avoided the sun. My skin is definitely getting plumper and more radiant looking, with the addition of the active ingredients!
I'm in my 40s and started using retinol and vitamin c in my early 30s. I've always used sunscreen on my face and arms. good to know I'm doing it right!!
Unfortunately I didn't protect my face from the sun until my mid 30's but I learned things and now use daily broad spectrum SPF, vitamin C, and retin-a and do 1mm derma rolling 3 times a year I'm now noticing at 42 that my skin is better than it was in my mid 30's. Hoping this trajectory continues and I won't have to think about cosmetic procedures until my late 50's. Another big thing that isn't mentioned often is attacking chronic iflammation through stress reduction, diet changes and exercise also make a huge difference long term. And a big thank you for the content you put out! It's reaffirming to me that this work I'm putting into my skin health is really worth it and I now know who I'll be going to when I get to that age when I'll be needing a vertical restore to address the underlying structures.
Hi Yes sun damage !!! I'm 68 Live in Durban South Africa And spent every weekend and Holidays swimming in the sea And sun tanning My skin is severely sun damaged I've got Melanoma I have to be checked by a Dermatologists every 4/6 months The main damage is over my body Luckily my face is not too damaged As I've taken care of it And have good genes So true about your environment Skin treatment is expensive here Thank you So informative and on the button From Linda
It’s funny my papa was a exterior painter stayed in the sun in Louisiana in his adulthood by the age 83 years old before he passed he had baby smooth face with a little crows feet at the eyes. Genetics 🧬 play a role
I’m a pale ginger. I stopped sunbathing as a teen. I’m 64 now and I am soooo happy I’ve worn sunscreen and avoided excessive sun. I get tagged as being in my late 40s all the time. It’s your choice!
Yes! I have always stayed out of the sun. Now at almost 63, people, including women my own age, always still complement me on my skin and think that I am decades younger. For safety's sake, it's time that pale skin becomes fashionable again. The only reason it ever went out of style is as a result of advertising. Companies wanted to sell their suntan lotions, and oil, and tanning beds, and faux tan products, so to sell those products, advertising companies started pushing the narrative that being anything other than deeply tanned is completely unacceptable and unappealing. And stupid people bought into this. I see many young women who have tanned skin that looks like an old football. Despite all the claims about how youthful it is to be tanned, I actually think it makes people look older.
My daughter's dermatologist has always told her PALE is beautiful. After being diagnosed at 16 with cancer cells in a place that suddenly appeared on her back. Thank God she is 42 now. I cringe when I see the sun damage on people who are much younger than myself, which I am 66. Not only the damage to the skin but it seems like skin cancer never crossed their minds. A very sad story: my dermatologist told me about a young patient barely into her 20's with a melanoma. Unfortunately, it was already too late. People listen to this doctor. Take care of your skin when your young. You'll thank yourself when you're my age.
Great video as always! I use your products & love them. I’m 67 & people comment on how youthful I look although I have some jowls but not terrible. Always look forward to your videos! Thank Dr Karam!
In my 20s and 30s I was a creature of the night. I was constantly clubbing, working as a music journalist, and a night owl who loathed waking up before noon. In fact, I avoided the sun like the plague because it made me break out in rashes! Who knew that years later, all that sun avoidance would give me the awesome skin I have now? I constantly get compliments on it. Of course I take good care of it too (coming home late, I still washed my face and have a serious regimen now that I’m older), and I have used sunscreen diligently for 30 years. So yeah, I’m pretty much a testament to all this.
Yay sunscreen!🙄 Yay low immunity, and osteoporosis when your older!!🙄🙄 Ever research just why there's a giant spike in skin cancer??? 🙄🙄🙄 It's not just the SUN!!🙄
Dr. Karam, your wife is an amazing example of how to take care of skin. Can you tell us more about the procedures she had done in addition to the skin care? I believe you mentioned fat transfer in another video. That is something I am interested in. But I don’t know if many surgeons perform this. Thanks for the great info!
I so agree with the Dr. on this subject. I have been using skin care products as he's suggested and I'm 70 yrs young. People often mistake me for being in my 40's or 50's. This picture is a recent photo. Do follow the Dr's advice.
I feel vindicated. I do all of these. I've gotten lazy with my microneedling so have to start that up again. I usually do it once per week. Also bought a red/infrared laser mask for neck and face and am seeing improvements to my skin. Use a neck and face lift brave 45 minutes a day, a wonderful product from Korea called Dessert Oasis...a far more economical version of Hanacure mask, always wear sunscreen, and avoid sun like a vampire. Retinol products and retina A are a standard at night, and use Vitamin C products from the Body Shop for my skin. I'm 53 and people often think I'm over 20vto 25 years my actual age. It all helps, but when you feel like you are being seared alive by the sun you stay away. Okay you've convinced me Doctor to go back to microneedling. Will start that back up. Would love your thoughts on red light/infrared treatments to stimulate collagen production.
He means microneedling at the dermatologist office not at home...Those at home rollers don't work the same at all...I've been doing the misconeedling with the dermatologist and wow! game changer
I'm 61. Being a natural redhead I learnt long ago to keep out of the sun. I use sunscreen from Feb1st to Nov1st (every day)...a Retinol creme at night or a Hyaluronic with Niacinamide in it. No smoking, little to no alcohol. I will also use sunscreen Nov to Feb if there is snow and a lot of reflection. I live in a rainy-area in the,Northern Hemisphere.
Thanks - I've been experimenting for 40 years - recently I am trying a new technique - Hydrogen peroxide - Bavarian Rose oil - DMSO - a skin care product pure with no preservatives olive oil/lanolin and thick heavy aloe gel. Looking good. Always experimenting always - will check the recommended products out - Thank you 😊
I'm 28 and have been using spf since I was 16 thanks to RUclips back then (I admit that sometimes there are days that I don't put it, escpecially when i'm home and winters).
I was on track with skincare especially sun protection, hydration and exfoliation. But thanks to your advices I have a clearer overview now on each necessary step for long-term efficacy.
I just turned 40 (which I believe is still young!), but always avoided 🌞 on my face -- I'm sorry to say I find myself just a teeny bit vindicated and blessed when I see the same ladies that use to tease me about being "pale" looking very aged today. I'm sure many regret those temporary tans now that their skin is telling on them!
I am so excited as tomorrow I have an appointment to evaluate my skin with the surgeon who did my liplift seven months ago as now i am having a Morpheus 8 treatment. I have been doing mesotherapy for six years now ( I am 51 years old) and my skin gets such a glow of it. I always use a sun protectiom of 50 SPF, I avoid to go out during the day if I can ( I stay busy at work) and at the beach i always stay under the umbrella as my skin get itchy of the saltwater . I am blond and blue eyed and has always had warnings from dermotologists to be very careful as we have sun most days here. I love your videos!
Hello Doctor! I am 59, and have a fairly good skin quality. In the last year or so I’ve noticed sagging of jowls and skin on the neck; it’s not terrible but visible. My question is which procedure would you recommend to improve this, without something drastic being done. Sculptra? RF treatments? Micro needling? Thank you so much! Simona
Really enjoy your channel. You are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for encouraging women of all ages to take care of their skin. I’m 71 my genes play a role in my youthful appearance for my age . funny peoples jaw drop when I tell my age. Not had any surgeries or injectables. I used retinA for decades in my younger years but stopped - but now starting up again. Im contemplating micro needling, never implemented so am little nervous but will begin slowly. Many thanks! 💗
Wow! How lucky are we! i feel like I've just had the best consolation and gained huge insight to the journey of one's skin. Thank you Dr Karam for your blessed time and effort in arming us with the tools and knowledge on how's on how to navigate around the elements, hormones and nutrition. Maintenance is the key! I will certainly implement all that you have shared with us today along with the crazy amount of water that I drink which I find helps a lot! Thanks again, Des :)
I will be the only one to disagree with the sun thing. My mom was fair skinned and rarely used sunscreen. Real sunscreen wasn't even around until the later seventies or early eighties anyway. Although she did have some dark spots here and there, she had virtually no sagging and little wrinkling in her early eighties. Many of the other women in our community are aging similarly. These are ladies that came to America in the sixties. These are ladies that spent a lot of time outdoors, in the garden, hanging clothes, picking berries, etc. They were in the sun. The thing that no one talks about is alcohol. Back then, when these women were young, they didn't do the binge drinking that many American women had started doing, and it's only gotten worse today. The other thing few people talk about is repetitive movements. I know that any sagging I have (mostly on one side) was from a bad habit of biting the inside of my cheek. I only did it on that one side. I am also concerned about the chemicals and vitamin A in sunscreens potentially causing more problems.
I’m sure many have said this already, yep, she looks fantastic. But also, she has peace in her eyes. I think that ‘peace’, genetics and excellent skincare have made a stunning woman ☺️
Hi Dr Amir, an avid fan from Auckland, New Zealand 😊 thank you for sharing your wonderful content, am learning so much and thoroughly enjoy all your vlogs. I hope to order your skincare at some point, just needing to see what the options are for postage to here. Have a wonderful weekend, much ❤
Skin tissue stimulation stack: 0.1% Liposomal tretinoin (monday wednesday friday) 10% Liposomal Vitamin C (tuesday thursday) 1000mg Vitamin C Tablet (morning and night) what are these growth factors btw and where can we get them?
Thank you so much Dr. Karam for this video class on skin. I have always had many compliments on my skin. I was not permitted to wear makeup until 18 so at a very young age I started using Noxzema every day. I did this for many years and continued to use it under any makeup I wore when the time came that I could use makeup. It was not much I was permitted to wear but I always had the good ole Noxzema. I am now 80 and no changes started until a couple of years ago. I know what is happening because I have been watching your videos for a long time. This has been a very great video that is educational and also informative. Thank you so very much for all I am learning and what I intend to use now. Your videos are wonderful and I am trying to get my nieces to attend you video classes because I now know one can never start too young. Thank you very much.
I’m tired of so many topicals and want to simplify my routine. I’ve wondered if your Trifecta can be used without the need for other products. Thank you for the informative videos to educate us on the importance of taking care of our skin!
So was I- and so were my patients! That is why I formulated the Trifecta, an easy 3 step routine with all of the ingredients you need. Besides that, sunscreen every single day and an occasional exfoliant and in office treatment, you will be good to go!
I love this channel and your explanations are crystal clear. I will be heading back to South Asia by the end of the year - are there certain chemical peels that you would deem suitable for such warm/hot conditions. I did microneedling which resulted in some new pigmentation ( even after taking extra precautions to not over heat or exposure my skin) . Thank you always for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks for these tips Dr. Karam. I'm 59 & frequently mistaken for 40. No invasive cosmetic interventions of any kind till date but incorporating these ideas sounds good now. Genetics also make a difference perhaps? Love from India 🇮🇳
Yes, genetics absolutely make a difference! The skin is the largest organ in the body it is really important to take good care of it, but everyone is predisposed to different conditions.
I’m 56 years old and yet I look 10 years younger, then my age. Since, I was a young girl I would wear moisturizer and continued to wear moisturizers as I got older. I grew up in New Jersey, so I wasn’t always in the sun, but then I moved to Florida when I was 30 years old and I avoided the sun. I no longer suntan, it has been over 10 years, since I last had a suntan. My skin is supple and soft and I feel as if I’m aging gracefully. I will definitely include retinols as well as vitamin C in my skincare regime. Thank you so much, for all of your wonderful advice, I absolutely enjoy watching your videos and learning more about keeping the skin looking great at any age.
Great info, but what about melasma? I understand that there is a difference between melasma and hyperpigmentation, and they have to use different treatments. What do you recommend?
I am 71 recently and I’ve always looked at least 10 years younger and have had great skin using no make up. But I contracted Covid and I’ve had long Covid for two years which has aged my face and made big bags under my eyes. As a child of the 60s, I was in the sun all the time trying to get his term as possible. For the last two years, I’ve kept my face out of the sun. By using these different creams that you recommend, can I reverse problems and improve my skin? I hope you answer questions. Thank you very much for your videos. Very informative.
Yep. I’m late 50s and look pretty good . I look early 40s on a very good day . Don’t smoke , no alcohol abuse , sunscreen since my 20s , no extreme weight gain or loss, generally active and very young at heart . Plus I’m Greek 😄
Thank you Dr. Amir. I am in my mid sixties I never used any cream, lotion, moisturizer. From last seven years I started using Health Pro Avocado oil. People always ask me what is the secret of my flawless skin. God bless you🙏
Yes One can look after skin properly and benefit Genetics plays a large part ,as you say,but some do age slower than others My Grandmother had beautiful skin well into her nineties No alcohol or smoking etc I still do believe that a good full facial vertical lift does make so much difference Then continuing on with a Cosmetic Dermatologist is a must Would add here ,we must always choose Board Certified Surgeon with lots of experience and proven results that are transparent Thanks,Doctor 😊
Thank you! Very best explanation of skin care and the only way I’ve truly understood everything skin- wise… overall amazing video.. very much appreciated!! ❤🙏
Would love to see a professional's review on Ordinary products if you haven't already! I use a few of their products and I'm always curious if it's legitimately effective or not! Also the molecular magic of effective skin care; how do we know it's penetrating and permeating our skin? Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for this video! I am 50,and have been doing many of these things for the past 8 years or ao,and it's made a difference. What is your opinion on face yoga,or using something like a jade roller? Can those things help to tighten the face and reduce wrinkles?
You are so welcome! Those tactics are not harmful if performed correctly but they won't reverse aging nor produce collagen the way other methods will. Definitely doesn't hurt!
Try Face Yoga and Face Massages! I got rid of a little double chin, got a sharper and more defined jawline and a slimmer face through Face Yoga exercises combined with GuaSha Massages or other facial massages on a daily basis. They are good for face sculpting, your face muscles and the blood circulation. Boths help with the absorbing of oxygen and eliminating of toxins from your skin. I will definitely stick to it!
Thanks for the information. I am sure that most of us don't have this much knowledge about their skin. And it is so important to learn about prevention, since there are so many products and ads about what to use on your skin which can distract from the most important thing to know, like prevention.
Great video Dr.Karam. I've been on the skin care train for awhile. It definitely is all you say. I do have at times challenging mountains to overcome being on all these skin care products as I have contact dermititis which can sometimes flare up up using these products. I still push through and continue on my skincare journey. Blessing to you and your family in the coming NewYear. 🤗
@@dramirkaram you mentioned the trifecta essentially has the niamincide, vitamin c etc. now with it all combined is it just as effective if I were putting each serum on individualy? I’m interested in your product and right now I routinely use 6 serums right now
Of course. As long as you use the right ingredients + sunscreen you will see an effect, regardless of the brand name. Yes some have better, easier (less steps) maybe even more effective formulations, but they are all based on the known ingredients that help, so as long as you use correctly and consistently it will help your concerns.
What a great breakdown of what to do you mean it’s simple. You had a perfect example in your voice to show us you clear a new what’s the Telus? I am going to look for your trifecta.
My skin reacts most to stress. Especially my face! My skin starts to look like it’s going to melt off my face and wrinkles look 10x worse. It’s incredible and scary lol. I wear my feelings on my face. Im 50 and have autoimmune disease. It’s done a number on my skin also. I use Estée Lauder and ROC products. Depends on the condition of my skin at the time. I have something for everything. I am also prone to Vitamin D deficiency. What I am most upset about is the sagging and “11” wrinkles along with one long wrinkle that goes from the top side of my nose down my inner cheek and just happens to align with the 11 wrinkle on that same side so it looks like I have a long scar down my face. I have an consult coming up soon with a dr for possible Botox injections or fillers. Or both. I hate this. I don’t want to leave my house sometimes I am so self conscious.
Thank you Dr Karam for sharing your knowledge and expertise on Surgical, non surgical interventions for skin care. Old ER Nurse here... starting young is the key, avoiding UVA/ UVB hydration, diet with lots of antioxidants, and exogenous creams Retinoids, Vitamins! It is never too late to start!! I was around during the 60' s , 70' s era I remember people used to use baby oil and iodine to tan, smoked like demons, bad diets... coca cola glad I never smoked but tried a couple of the hair brained things above? Thank you for the your very insightful skin care regime for life. Makes a lot of sense especially your point on sun exposure. Living in South Africa for most my life makes one very aware of the skin damage caused by the harsh sun. That’s the reason I instilled the dangers of sun exposure to my daughter from a very young age.
Dr. We want to know what you do for YOUR skin because it looks amazing!! Seriously? Also, I notice most aged ppl with perfect skin still have wrinkles around the eyes. What laser takes care of that problem? I bet Everyone wants to know the answer.
I was that person who laid on the beach! Vacations were always around the beach. Now at age 67 yrs, I always used ponds cold cream to take away my makeup. 10 yrs ago, sunscreen. I have melasma now. I'm finally using hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, moisturizer during the day. I cleanse, tonic, retinol & moisturizer. I see a difference...Thank you Doctor for explaining and giving me inspiration. Now I need to go back to the gym. Lol
Check this video about what Skin Aging Mistakes to Avoid in 2024: ruclips.net/video/vbVvigt7wZg/видео.html
Thanks!
Many people DO NOT see any effects from skin injury, to create collagen!! How many people have auto immune? Multi millions that’s who! Auto immune blocks that as inflammation from the micro needle, is way more than a normal immune system person’s. It blocks collagen making .
great job
Thanks…
If I don’t have sun I’ll get depressed. Yep at 60 I’ve been doing skin care for only 10 yrs and it has made a huge difference. You are never to old! Good luck beauties
You can wear spf everyday even if you live in a sunny climate 🙏
Sun exposure with no sunscreen before 10 AM. Sunscreen any time afterwards.
Brand of face cream with amino peptides please. Thank You
Impressive! Sounds like you were ahead of the times. Sorry to say, tanning was fashionable when I (age 62) was growing up.

As a swedish person, I agree!
I'm 45 now, I started to take care of my skin at 17, I use for almost 3 decades now Retin A I avoided the sun almost all my life and trust me it's a challenge because I live in a very sunny location, but my dermatologist told me at 17 to avoid the sun, to use Retin A during all my life, to do chemical peel at the least one a year etc etc
Coupled with good genes, these very good tips allowed me to keep a youthful skin and a fresh look, people are always amazed when they know my age.
Are you from one of the former republics of the USSR?
@@margarita3885 - no..why

Awesome, thank you!
Thank you so much for following! I am glad you appreciate the advice.
I’ve heard good things about Helios!
avoid also sodium.
Now I use SPF 70."
I have heard doctors say that SPF beyond a certain level (30? or 50?) has little to no benefit.
That is why I do not bother to spend $$$ on higher priced SPF.
70 I never seen that high spf
The highest SPF is 100
I wish you could share the name/brand of the product you used.

Hi Carrie can you please tell me what soap you use to wash your face? And what face lotion? Thank you
A really useful video - I got into serious skin care at 40 (16 years ago) - been using tretinoin, Vit C, SPF30+ daily - total game changers. I have added an LED face mask as well ❤
This was a great video! Really appreciated a look at that age range. It was very straight forward and easy to follow. Really enjoyed the progression photos. Seriously, an exact "how to" video/instructions on where to start and move forward with skin care. THANKS!
Thank YOU!
LMAO Oh, bullshit. 🤣😆🤣
@@LillyBunnyBoo that was a rather rude response to what happens to be my truth... not sure why you felt it necessary to say that🤔
Hello from the not-very-sunny UK!

Wonderful!

Absolutely 100% correct. My brothers lived in Florida, no sunscreen or skin care and I see the difference in our skin
It’s funny my papa was a exterior painter stayed in the sun in Louisiana in his adulthood by the age 83 years old before he passed he had baby smooth face with a little crows feet at the eyes. Genetics 🧬 play a role
your clarity on pigmentation is awesome. want much more clarification on hydroquinine products. thanks for this video
Doc, your skin is stunning
Love how you help your patients, it’s effective and natural!
You are prone to it that’s NOT normal
Yep, there is nothing wrong with one’s natural skin color. Not every one is born with a tan color and that’s ok…
Great video as always!
I use your products & love them. I’m 67 & people comment on how youthful I look although I have some jowls but not terrible.
Always look forward to your videos! Thank Dr Karam!

You are so welcome!
She had fat transfer 15 years ago, occasional botox.
Thank you Dr Karam, your wife's skin looks amazing!

Just. A e sure u don't use a roller form. Of microneedling. As per Dr dray it s not good. Use the stamp one instead
My mom had zero wrinkles at 82. She only used cold cream to remove her makeup. Never water. And only took baths.
Love that!
I was on track with skincare especially sun protection, hydration and exfoliation. But thanks to your advices I have a clearer overview now on each necessary step for long-term efficacy.
Very informative, to the point. Actually the way you explained it it’s not so complicated! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much!

Would love to try your skincare line but unfortunately I cannot tolerate fragrance. Would you ever consider making them fragrance free?
Drink plenty of water and stay away from sugar and processed foods.
Great video!
Great tip!
I get compliments on my skin. I use La Mer.
Hat, sunglasses, SPF lip balm, and sunscreen are my favorite things in the daylight.
Amen🙏🏻
Your channel is GOLD!! Thank you!! You’re helping so many of us!! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for supporting!! :)
Hi Dr Amir, an avid fan from Auckland, New Zealand 😊 thank you for sharing your wonderful content, am learning so much and thoroughly enjoy all your vlogs. I hope to order your skincare at some point, just needing to see what the options are for postage to here. Have a wonderful weekend, much ❤
Skin tissue stimulation stack:
0.1% Liposomal tretinoin (monday wednesday friday)
10% Liposomal Vitamin C (tuesday thursday)
1000mg Vitamin C Tablet (morning and night)
what are these growth factors btw and where can we get them?
So amazingly helpful! And gives us all a lot of hope about how much we can control with aging. Thank you!
When you said you are 50 yrs I was shocked! You look amazing!
Such fantastic information... thank you, Dr. Karam.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! My sister owns a MedSpa in Henderson, NV so I’ve been lucky to have her help me with my skin for years. I always like to see this info.
Thanks for sharing!!
Priceless wisdom! Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dr. Karam
Glad it was helpful!
I need to purchase your trifecta products … How to go about it as I am living in Malaysia Dr. Amir???
Absolutely loved learning this.
People had less depression and anxiety too because they were outside and getting some sun so some sun is a good thing.
Two questions:
1. What is growth factor ?
2. What is non-hydroquinone lightener?
Thank you
I love this channel and your explanations are crystal clear.
This was excellent - the best skincare overview I've seen! Thank you, doctor!
Glad it was helpful!
If that's your picture,I would guess 43🤔
@@falconone7230 Yup....that's recent me alright 😊
My pleasure! Thank you for sharing.
Great info, but what about melasma? I understand that there is a difference between melasma and hyperpigmentation, and they have to use different treatments. What do you recommend?
Love to see the motivation by people my age (24) and younger starting to use sunscreen more !
Handsome doctor. Thank you for teaching us something valuable.
Yep. I’m late 50s and look pretty good . I look early 40s on a very good day . Don’t smoke , no alcohol abuse , sunscreen since my 20s , no extreme weight gain or loss, generally active and very young at heart . Plus I’m Greek 😄
Im a 65 year old man, alot of people say i look 46, mainly for no sun, good diet, water, sleep and no stress
Glad someone has made things a lot easier to understand. Thank You.
Thank you so much, Dr. Karam for your awesome and so much needed lecture!❤️🙏
You are very welcome
Thank you Dr. Amir. I am in my mid sixties I never used any cream, lotion, moisturizer. From last seven years I started using Health Pro Avocado oil. People always ask me what is the secret of my flawless skin. God bless you🙏
Yes
One can look after skin properly and benefit
Genetics plays a large part ,as you say,but some do age slower than others
My Grandmother had beautiful skin well into her nineties
No alcohol or smoking etc
I still do believe that a good full facial vertical lift does make so much difference
Then continuing on with a Cosmetic Dermatologist is a must
Would add here ,we must always choose Board Certified Surgeon with lots of experience and proven results that are transparent
Thanks,Doctor 😊
tu abuela era del campo por eso
I use ordinary products and think they are great. Squalene cleanser, moisturizer and caffeine serum for under eyes
I thought I heard you say you are almost 58 years old - if that is so, your skin looks great and you look a lot younger than your age!
@@sonjalalelu3667 which face exercises did you do for double chin and jawline?
Wow Doc just discovered you. Very honest and genuine. Thank you so much. God bless
Welcome to my channel! Happy to have you.
I'm 46 and people can't believe I'm this age...lol💗organic skincare, cold water💦on my face and 🍍🍅🥭🍄🥕veggies smoothies help so much
Love it!
Thanks for the information. I am sure that most of us don't have this much knowledge about their skin. And it is so important to learn about prevention, since there are so many products and ads about what to use on your skin which can distract from the most important thing to know, like prevention.
Glad you appreciate it. Thanks for being here!
Thank you! Happy New Year.
Dr Karam , can I use retinol ( over the counter ) and vit C together ? Pl reply , thx
@@shantitanna8033 yes absolutely, but go slow at first and monitor for sensitivities...
I use Estée
Lauder and ROC products.
Depends on the condition of
my skin at the time. I have
something for everything. I
am also prone to Vitamin D
deficiency.
I just purchased your skin care trifecta. Waiting patiently for it to arrive at my home. So appreciate all your information and knowledge.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting! I hope you love the Trifecta, please let us know how it works for you.
Can you please tell us if Profhilo treatment helps with keeping skin youthful and boost collagen?
Good question
This is the best video you've done.
Doc, you forgot to mention a good diet. It is critical for a good skin
We were innocent , nothing new under the sun literally !! I got mistaken for a 40 year old at 68 wow what a compliment, older now 😁Blessings to you and your beautiful wife 🌹
Great video, as always. Informative, interesting with lots of easy to follow advice. Thank you!
I would try CO2 laser
Wear sunscreen around your eyes and sunglasses religiously
I was that person who laid on the beach!
Vacations were always around the beach.
Now at age 67 yrs, I always used ponds cold cream to take away my makeup.
10 yrs ago, sunscreen. I have melasma now. I'm finally using hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, moisturizer during the day. I cleanse, tonic, retinol & moisturizer.
I see a difference...Thank you Doctor for explaining and giving me inspiration.
Now I need to go back to the gym. Lol
