    In my 60's I started having a lot of scary hair loss. Saw my primary who suggested several treatments - which didn't help. My friend said she had been diagnosed with anemia , with her loss of hair. My blood test revealed severe anemia, low ferritin - received iron infusions and my hair is back after 6 mo. I think this is more common than you would think.

      Yes, I was also in the same situation…low iron and my hair became alarmingly thin. I went on iron supplements and about 4 months later I started noticing new hair strands popping up. They’re now about 2-3” long and thankfully the bald spots are gradually filling in! Ladies, ask your doctor for an iron blood test or better yet, a full blood panel.

    Thank you, doctor. Hair loss is very emotionally distressing, I'm 58, and while I've been thinning for years this year, it became more noticeable. I went to my dermatologist and now am on 1.25 mg of Finasteride and 1 mg of Minoxidil, plus a healthy diet, liquid iron, good sleep, clean shampoo, and red light therapy. The combination is finally working, but it's taken about four months to slow the thinning and shedding. To your point, you need to be consistent.

      I take oral minoxidil now. I literally have lost half my hair and the combination or oral minoxidil, Nutrifol (for 4 years now), red light IRestore helmet, and ketoconazole shampoo 1/x a week has made things “better”. Before all of this my shower drain was completely filled. And there is absolutely NO genetic hair loss on either side of my family - it’s just not a thing!

    • @lisafragsvocalist
      @lisafragsvocalist 6 месяцев назад +14

      I am someone with a terrible hair genetics ~ it was fine, thin, straight and petered out in length at the shoulder even as a young woman. Now post 50, it’s shockingly thin and ironically dark (no gray) against a very pale scalp so very noticeable. Both my parents had the same hair situation. I’ve tried most of the things you mention here with little success. I used hair fibers and extensions to mask it. My salvation was scalp micro-pigmentation ~ little dots resembling hair follicles tattooed all over my head. It freed me of the fibers and gave me a hairline. It is a good solution ~ mostly men do it to give the illusion of a closely shaved head.

  • @maureennoble9932
    @maureennoble9932 6 месяцев назад +31

    Great info- Thank you! Also in addition to this info, ProCell micro channel hair treatments I feel work better than PRP.
    Minoxidil can cause heart palpitations. If this happens try a hair product with Redensyl for daily use. Castor oil with rosemary as a hair pack or mask at least once a week. You can leave it on for at least an hour or sleep in it with a 100% organic cotton turban. Castor oil must be in dark glass container preferably organic, expeller cold pressed no plastic. You can apply the castor oil on lashes and brows WITHOUT the rosemary as the Rosemary can be too stimulating in more delicate areas. Hope this helps!

    I have had hair loss for many years. Recently my hair loss has increased due to stress. I have been getting excellent results with microneedling stem cell ( not plant stem cells) at 1.5 ml depth. With hair loss comes dedication and following the protocol to win the battle.

I was a young lady that received my period at nine years old and also started having a knot that turned out to be breast at Seven years old and I went into perimenopause much earlier than I should have and told my doctor I was going through perimenopause and she couldn’t believe it and she was like let’s do a test and the test came back yes I was going through perimenopause earlier, so we need to dive into that more. I wish more people would talk about the fact that our medications cause hair loss. Most of them have it listed on their side effects. Even blood pressure meds. Many people start taking these meds by fifty. My mom developed a whole host of issues, but not one doctor thought to change her meds around. I wish I had thought about it. She had Issues that were not hereditary, and my mom did everything right. She was active, ate homemade foods, socialized, etc.
    Food is important, but someone needs to start talking about the harmful side effects from our medications.

    One case of hair loss for women is scaring alopecia. It's where you lose hair and the follicle scars over and your hair will never grow back. I have this and they think that it is autoimmune related. It's a very rare condition but is showing up in women a lot more now who are in the perimenopause to post menopause age group. It is quite distressing at times.

      What I did do is talk to my dermatologist who diagnosed me back in 2018 and she suggested steroid shots along the frontal and side hairline. This will stop the inflammation that is destroying the hair follicle. I was doing it every 6 weeks. I'm a RN and know a lot about this topic because I have had years to research it. I will say that there is no cure but I will not take the cocktail of medicines they suggest to try because they can be hard on the kidneys and liver. NO WAY. I have found that there are cosmetic ways to deal with frontal hair loss such as toppers and wigs. They make these add volume to your hair and you can't even tell you are wearing one. You have to invest in a quality piece though. You can even get a topper or wig custom made.I would suggest this if you can afford it. Just know that this is pretty devastating knowing your hair will never grow back. It's something you will never forget hearing. Hope this helps.@@IloveCamels335

    Thank you for your videos. Like many others, hair loss began to take place and cause much distress emotionally. For myself, I tried shampoos, rosemary eo, etc. to no avail. I then finally went and had bloodwork done to check vitamin and mineral levels. Come to find out, I was very deficient in iodine, and somewhat in vitamin d3/k2, and iron. I began taking these responsibly, and I am noticing the shedding has dramatically lessened. I'm still waiting for new growth. In the meantime, I've found a product called Boost n Blend. This product has been a blessing in how it covers thinned out areas. Like Dr Karam suggested, good sleep and have a well balanced diet with iron and protein have made a difference.
    Note: high dose supplements are not necessarily better. Take the appropriate amount for your situation because supplements can have extremely high doses, much more than what may be needed.

    I do believe the testosterone cream with my HRT caused hair thinning. I cut way back on what the docs prescribed and its better. The estrogen in the HRT helps with the symptoms so you really don't need a lot of testosterone and exercise brings that up anyways. I mentioned it to the doctor and was surprised that she was surprised! You have to be your own advocate and look at everything holistically and only you know intuitively what is the best way to balance your life

A part of the T your taking will convert into DHT, which can cause serious hairloss. To block this conversion most seem to use finasteride or dutasteride with great results. But it always starts by doing bloodwork, measuring atleast the DHT. So you might know what causes the problem.

I'm 47, i have hipothiroydism, I am in perimenopause. 3 months ago my hair started falling in the shower, when i brushed my hair, at all times through the day.... a nightmare. I tried instant coffee on my scalp and although the sheding hasn't stopped Completly it has improved a lot! Get the instant coffee with most cafeine and give it a try. Just put it on your scalp every other day. Leave it for a little while you do something else, you can also ware a shower cap or put it on and let it dry before you go to bed and leave it the whole night and wash your hair next morning. I hope it helps. It does stain your hair a little, specially on white hair. You can also mix the powder with your shampoo
