Agree on a lot of the points but thinking this will be sold for $ 10~20 is beyond copium
This game doesn't need to market itself to fighting game fans since it's hunter x hunter has a much larger fanbase, and this is where the bad graphics hurt them the most. I hope HXH fans give the game a chance even though the graphics are not that good.
I don't know what region you're in but it's definitely not super popular in mine. Also the overlap between anime fans and fighting game players is so small that I think it will be DOA in my region.
Will this have rollback, crossplay and regional pricing? Those 3 may help a little
@@strych88 It's super popular. With 84 million manga sales, it's the 14th best selling manga of all time according to wikipedia (average sales per volume). The 2011 anime is the 7th highest rated anime of all time of MAL, and it's the 9th most popular.
It's really popular and very highly respected, but yeah it's going to need rollback + crossplay. If it was DBFZ quality I wouldn't be worried, but everything here aside from the gameplay looks rough.
I really hope you're right but honestly I don't know
@@strych88i really love manga and fighting games, so does everyone that loves fighting games that i know. Don't underestimate manga its suuuper popular
@@strych88 I'm from a region where game tend to be pretty expansive pirating shows is very common so it's much easier for me to find a HXH fan then a fighting game fan.
I think the overlap betwen those two are very big since most of the anime games were some type of fighting game (mostly arena fighters) but that was before the gacha era.
Basically any fighting game will not be as successfull without those things you mentioned nowadays.
Genuinely hoping hxh becomes one of the most kusoge of all time, sadly can't imagine it surviving as anything else
That's probably the most accurate take I've heard
I'm glad people are accepting the fact that this game will die out pretty quick with these visuals / roster size. A multiplayer game isn't a game without people to fight against.
What's the kusoge referring too?
@@dice9270fighting games that are broken, unbalanced, or just not to be taken seriously, Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 is considered a kusoge for example
@Grande_Vtr
That’s not what a kisoge is. Kisoge means a crappy unenjoyable game. MvC3 was never considered a kisoge. This game fits that bill perfectly tho
So excited for a non-arena fight for my favorite anime, graphics can be outdated if it means they're cooking with designing the gameplay
It's literally just a Mod MVC3 with HXH characters😆
And hopefully we get more of these stlye games like FighterZ with different anime going forward. Black Clover, please
The comparison I'm dreading the most is Nick All Stars Brawl. We hyped that game so much back then, but people dropped it completely after two weeks.
Because it turned out that NASB was just not actually very good. MvC3 but with a HxH skin already has more going for it.
if this game has audio its already ahead of nick all stars brawl
@@Everdistanceanime VAs too!! nobody seems to be talking about that but it’s been nearly a decade since the anime ended :))
@@morgboat744 I get that development is still early but fingers crossed for English dub voices. Something fuckin' Jump Force didn't bother with!
Gee, maybe because platform fighters only attract Nintoddlers that have a severe hate boner for any "Smash clones".
I'm in the exact same boat, similar to games like BBTAG/MVCI/BFTG I'm really hoping they at minimum give us rollback and most importantly cross play. Mainly looking at Power rangers for this comparison but thanks to cross play for PR it basically kept the game a float for a very long time and it also had a pretty small budget
True u can still find matches in power rangers
Aw man; DNF Duel was a game made for a completely different generation of fighting game. Its a shame, because it had the potential to be such an awesome game to see evolve with a few more content updates.
And I still curse Disney for doing the developers of MvCI so dirty. I still think its the most fun I've had with a Vs game in a long time.
DNF didn't survive because there is no depth to the game.. Make it harder to play, scale the damage and a tour scene for it. It will blossom like KI
@@KailamiMwiinga they did scale the damage
@@KailamiMwiinga not exactly sure what you mean? KI blossomed because it had both long standing fans happy to see it return, and two great devs putting in the effort and content for the game (in spite of being budget a lot of the times as well).
DNF Duel came out with 2000s era balance issues and no content map for over a year; that's what killed it. The game being easier to pick up and learn was not holding it back; and even if it did, the patches that we did get balanced things to a mostly sound state, with some options in the cube system.
I think comparing KI to DNF Duel isn't fair, because outside of presentation, DNF Duel is a "kusoge" in most forms. It was wildly unbalanced, had a tiny roster for a game in this generation of fighters, and wasn't getting any support from the company that commissioned 8ing and Arcsys to make it. KI is more of a passion project made on a shoestring budget; and surviving thanks to its gameplay/content and word of mouth/fans.
@@KailamiMwiinga depending on level of play it is difficult to play, also that did not stop people from playing SF6 and Tekken 8.
They also did lower damage.
@@KailamiMwiingatell me a game today that has the kinda depth you're on about. Because every game today is simplifying combos, the closest I would say is sf6. Another for me would kof 15 but that could be cause I suck lmao. And obviously not an older gamer a newer one
Insane to bring up DNF duel and then say "wow I hope this game is super Kusoge so it doesn't die!"
There are different ways of making something kusoge. The Marvel way of doing it has movement, combo variety, and a lot of interesting tech for all situations.
It was also nearly full-priced kusoge for an IP that is very niche in the West, so it's already impressive DNF got as many initial sales as they did. They probably owe to Max hyping it up the ass all the way to the moon.
@@eduardoserpa1682 I don't think marvel was ever a Kusoge it's just a really over the top game with poor balancing. It treads the line sure, but it's not proper Kusoge like DNF was
@@Dunter_An Current DNF has very explicitly designed options that more consistenty work as intended, more visual clarity, and more character representation at high level than Marvel could ever hope for.
Nevermind the sillier Marvel things like guard cancel X-factor, the timerscam infinite (indistinguishable from an HnK round), and the incoming setups (with or without unblockables).
Kusoge is a descriptive term at this point, there's nothing wrong with Marvel being there alongside the smaller ones.
@@Dunter_Anif marvels not kusoge, nothing is
@@eduardoserpa1682nice cope it's still a unbalanced mess
I think HD sprites would have been better than the current models. The characters faces not even being animated when speaking is also a bummer. Unrelated, but I think I saw you on fightcade in 3rd strike yesterday. Recognized the name and clicked the video.
Sprites are a lot more expensive than 3D models, so that wouldn’t even help because of the budget problem.
@@malimaui2802 i know, im just saying hypothetically as an aesthetic improvement, if the game got a bigger budget which it honestly should
I completely agree that this game needs to sell for dirt cheap at launch. Get as many people to buy this game as you can, right out of the gate.
I feel like not enough people know this property in the U.S, for this game to sell for even $50, and I feel like if you sell it for cheap and market it decently well, it can do decently in sales, and have a sufficiently large player base.
I dont mind poor graphical fidelity. I do mind that the animations look super stiff and unsatisfying, and the movement look floaty and similarly unsatisfying.
The game looks ugly but it's not because of the 3ds models, basically
Yeah I feel like it’s not going to be fun having to play with clonky animations. Not buying into the copium.
If this game sells more than expected, maybe there is going to be one with a better budget! (coping)
Or get bigger budgets to make other anime games like FighterZ. Black Clover, please
@@dougtheghoul2845nah black clover isn't popular enough to make it a huge hit like dbfz.naruto or one piece, maybe bleach could make it and maybe, maybe jjk but black clover is in the shadows of those animes unfortunately
Nah drooling Mahvel roaches already made their word, if it doesn't look like a Arc Sissy game. It's not worth your time. But I guess that how Capcom roaches FUNCTION.
@@dougtheghoul2845 I would sacrifice a child to get a one piece fighting game
The opposite: "Our game did this well on such a low budget, let's reduce it even more for the next one!"
We have to vote with our wallets to show them
It definitely won’t have massive success in the long term however I can foresee the game building a loyal cult following. It’s the type of game where you walk into a tourney/local and see two people with a modest setup duking it out in the corner.
Rollback and crossplay would do wonders for the game. Power Rangers had like 10 steam players when I tried it out, but I was still getting tons of matches. Fingers crossed.
i agree they should charge less, but 10 dollars is crazy.
the rush combo button is perfect too. It fits the vibe of having people coming over to crowd around a console who don't play fighting games and just having a good time.
If the game is fun and cheap it might be successful or at least playable... But I expect this to be 60 bucks
You make the HxH:NI content and I’ll be here for it!
Pricing is the most important factor here. I think DNF Duel priced themselves out of being successful when it already had a niche audience to begin with.
Anything over $30 USD would be an instant death sentence for HxH.
Also graphics and animations can be polished. Look at what was said about some of the 2KXO characters. And if this game isn't even coming out until '25 they got timr
This game looks like an MVC3 mod and I'm all for it.
As long as you have friends who play fighting games you always have someone to play with. If they're really interested they'll keep up with you and it becomes a rivalry. This is the best part of fighting games for me
I've already accepted that it's gonna happen, you learn from history for a reason. Plus in DnF Duel's case a lot of the "issues" beyond season 1/launch release state of Swift Master, Female Fighter, and Hitman being so dominate and lack of defensive options were kind of superficial or even hypocritical when compared to other FGs doing the same or less and proof to me that nothing besides the "Big 3" will ever take off in the current FG landscape.
The DnF Duel devs changed the game up a lot since it's release, new defensive options, that big character buff patch, new characters, and even some new mechanics but no one cared. Players who were seriously into Marvel games admitted that MvCI gameplay was incredibly solid but the meme fallbacks ("functions", "Chun Li/Dante faces", going up against DBFZ at the time) and Disney/X-men overhead drama were just too much for the game to go beyond hardcore discord dwellers.
I also think it's hard to sell HxH to a casual crowd who aren't already into the series. The characters look basic as hell at first glance even though HxH has some of the most hype battles and in-depth energy system in the anime/manga medium. For this HxH fighter just hope they give good netcode and crossplay to give even a foundation to thrive and let it go from there.
Appealing to the casual audience is so important for keeping it lively
It gonna be hard to do I'm wishing 8ing the best
I'd love to see this game work out it's very diffrent from the usual
Honestly I think the visuals look pretty nice outside of the cinematic supers. All the normals and specials have a nice flow and impact to the animations. It's only when you zoom in and start seeing Killua's action figure hands that stuff starts looking rough. I almost wish the camera stayed zoomed out for level 3s, I think that might actually look cooler.
already planning on buying this game on release whatever happens. on the other hand the graphics is an obvious problem, though imo 16 characters for a team game launch roster is a bigger problem. Especially since we don't know what the post launch plans are. with such a small budget I wouldn't be surprised if that was all we got. Only other thing I dislike is the lack of special move inputs, but that is merely personal preference.
the game's controls has been revealed theres no block button so it has a chance
I'm so hoping it does well but I think it'll be a miracle if it does...
I'll play it for sure
I'm also worried about it. As someone that doesn't know anything about the IP, I had a bit of a rough first look at the game, and that instantly said to me, oof, this game is in for a hard time.
If it's $15 or $20 I miiiight try it out. Even then I don't know. There's just too much else to play at the moment.
A bit off topic, but have you seen the new Idol Showdown trailer, they have a new meaty update in there
The issues i had when watching the initial vids besides just the graphics was the jumps looked way too floaty for me and the roster size was miniscule if its actually going to be 16 fighters on release
The fact that granblue versus rising even had massive player drop off despite being f2p in some way is kinda crazy. Not to say GBVSR is a failure. It isn't but it's not keeping the population like I was expecting just because of thw f2p. Maybe if they expanded it to not be so limiting with levels and ranked.
I think HXH will be really niche no matter what they do. But if it gets the support, could be a gamble as something special in the long term.
As long as it ain't a buggy mess with horrible net code.
To be fair, yeah...Rising has a f2p version, but people don't play fighting games to keep trying consistently cycling characters, most people will find one they like and want to stick with them and the Free version doesn't help at all with that. Also, the game did not have regional pricing for a fair bit after it's release..A lot of people were also just simply priced out from the game despite the game itself being one of the best fighting games currently around.
Because GBVR is basically "Fisher Price my first Fighting Game". There's nothing wrong with it being a fighting game for newcomers, but the trade off is that everyone who wants to play it above casual level quickly realize that the game has close to no depth. Speaking for me personally, in other fighting games I usually reach like the 3rd highest rank (as in, if level 10 is the highest, I usually plateau at level 7) and stay there for months before moving up or just plain stay there. Needless to say, I'm not an amazing much less pro fighting game player. Yet in GB Rising I have 5 Masters (Highest rank) with only 300 hours in the game and without having played the first game. Same amount of hours in something like Tekken, SF or GG and I'm just reaching the equivalent of Rank S in Rising, If at all, with a single character.
@@taigaaisaka6305 Close to no depth huh....Want to actually back up what you've said? Because saying that you took less time to get to the top ranking basically means nothing without evidence to support it.
I'm a HxH fan, I was throwing money at my monitor once I saw the announcement. Then the first gameplay trailer come out. Ok, The game looks low budget, but I don't mind, I'm still getting it. Today more info about how the game actually plays and what mechanics it has. Simple inputs only, no directional inputs/classic ones, combos being done by just mashing one button, infinites, one button specials and ultimates, one button dash and can guard while doing it. Yeah.. I'm no longer sure I will get it. Like I said, the graphics, I don't mind. The low budget, I don't mind. But the gameplay being that dumbed down? That I can't pretend to not care. Game went from "Insta buy" to "...let's wait and see..." for me.
I haven't done any research into the game so thx for ur insight. Why would they do this lol
Yea I just watched Justin Wong's deep dive video on it and it seems like they're going for a Power Rangers Battle For The Grid style gameplay with the super simplified controls. Justin said that it's actually pretty solid and surprisingly deep so I'm optimistic. Also I like that they take the nen abilities into consideration like Hisoka can attach Bungie Gum with one of his normals and this opens up his moveset a bit more and his supers are tied to this mechanic.
I think the one thing that sucks is it is either getting one time to be at evo or absolutely none
the new Gon trailer today with higher quality was a night and day difference. I think it'll still be stiff but the potato recordings people are spreading on twitter are a bit unfair in comparison.
Guys, lets give it time. It might release in a way better state!!
I wish they didnt completely remove motion inputs...I would definitely play it
would love to have a hunter X hunter fighting game to be cool, good and long-lasting, specially if they gave us Kuroro and Hinrigh so I could build my dream team. But it'll be hard for any team game to compete with Project L for the "team game spot" in the fgc imo
Praying that it has rollback and DLC but the budget thing has me rly worried
Some shading in the artstyle would go a long way. Samsho looks like a ps3 game but the art direction carries it HAAAARD
I wonder how much Capcom was kicking themselves over Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite? They did all these things that definitely cost them extra with the character models, (some characters [mostly Marvel] got completely new models, models had more detail, and old models got retextured) moved everything over to Unreal Engine 4 for some reason, and in the end everyone would’ve been happier if they just used the Marvel vs Capcom 3 character models unchanged.
I do think the graphics of this Hunter x Hunter game will end up looking much better. The models aren’t the most detailed, but it’s it’s a cel shaded game. DBFZ doesn’t have detailed character models either. I think at some point, maybe the next time we see it, the in-game models will look like the characters do on the select screen. You look at the character select screen and there’s visual elements on the character there that aren’t on them in the game that wouldn’t be hard to do in the game. I think there’s going to be a water color looking filter that gets put over the characters, and the black outlines will take on more of a brush looking FX.
game looks sick and im very happy that they fixed the framerate, the only qualm i have with the game is the roster size but it looks AMAZING
I'd never really thought about it, but that's a really interesting take on playing the long game as a game development studio; To say "We have 5 dollars and some pocket lint as our budget, let's lean into kusoge and treat this as a marketing campaign so when we pitch the next one we get like, actual money"
A hundred million DOLLARS is actually a really Good budget for a video game. The budget for this game however is reportedly a hundred million YEN. Which is less than One million dollars and is EXTREMELY low for a video game
this is the most royalty free sounding background music of all time lmao 😭😭
I'm fine with the graphics not being top tier.
What I think would be absolutely dope in a HxH fighting game is
Shop Weapon/Tool Equip
Hatsu (Nen Ability) Creation
Team Combo Attacks
Hard agree on the price tag thing. I have friends who don’t play fighting games who i could definitely talk into a game with no motion inputs and HxH IP. But not for any more than like 20$
If they want to sell with those graphics they need to:
1- have a solid roster(at least 20 characters for a 3v3 game or they should've make it 2v2)
2- have an incredible gameplay
3 -sell it for 20 box ..
4 - have a good netcode
5 - have multiple modes
Problem is, I don't believe in any of these points..
Swift Master basically single handedly killed my enthusiasm for DNF lol. Playing Ranger into him was an exercise in futility.
I'll be there no matter what
I'm really hoping this one is successful 🤞. I plan on buying it. Eighting is such a good studio and it only looks as bad as it does presentation wise because of the tiny budget.
Hopefully the game will sell like a hot cake so more companies do more game like this!
Ayo we in there!
Day 1 team..
Hisoka(Succession War Drip)

Nobunaga
Ging has no moves tho, all we see him do is copy leorio's punch.
@@bigjc5546 Good point, then Nobunaga as my anchor.
I wish we could’ve gotten a Bleach tag fighter with a higher budget instead.
Bro, super excited for some HxH gameplay. I'm so happy its not an arena fighter. And now that DBFZ isn't getting anymore patches, we definitely need a good anime tag fighter on the market
How about the VS series in general? Sorry not into shonen anime fighters tho
@@lesleyblackvelvet7647you got 3 good vs series and there's 1 anime fighting game at the moment and it picked the worst popular series to adapt. Dragonball has all the characters fighting in the exact same way which makes fights just boring. Hunter x hunter has very diverse fighting and so does bleach and one piece and jujutsu kaisen, which wouldve been much better for an anime game than dbfz and maybe wouldve made you love manga or anime, cause its good. Remember that comics and manga are the same, just from different places
When a new fighting game comes out, you need it to be something non-hardcore people want to play. When casual people like your game, they fill up the online and then everyone has someone to play against. If the game doesn't appeal to casual players at all, then what are we doing? I don't understand why they'd want a 2 in the presentation stat.
I will absolutely get the game as HUGE hxh fan
HxH is going to need to pull somrthing out of its ass because its another instance of yesteryear-era fighting games doing what they do best, giving you a product that forces the community itself to justify its price to others instead of doing it itself.
Well said
Aint no way in hell its gonna be 10-20 dollars its gonna be 40 minimum with the hunter hunter tag
I wanna try MVCI2... Darn I'll buy a copy for me and my friends little better and have him play with me lol
As a HxH fan I don't mind the graphics at all, the characters look like they do in the anime, what more do you want?
Dnf duel was my favorite game for quite a while
I need a One Piece Fighters or DB Fighterz 2.
Well if it's fun I'm sure some people will stick around.
my question would be more like : will it be as good as Naruto GNT 4 ?
if it is, then it may actually be fun to play.
Dam havent watched you in a hot minute and you just popped up on my recommended feed W
Presentation means a lot to players.
No matter what, my girlfriend and I will be having fun with Nen Impact as Hunter x Hunter fans. She already calls dibs on Hisoka.
I don't mind the graphics but can definitely understand that the budget will hurt it in the long run.
DNF Duel was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.
as much as i want this game to succeed i didnt really have faith in bushinroad track record
they are like nexon of japan with DnF duel tragedy still fresh in my mind i fearful for it
graphics are important. more so the art style i say.
this is something you going to look at for hours. like lets say a game like Genshin Impact or AFK Journey are not some graphics monsters but they are so nice to look at. then you take the new SAND LAND game, its a mix of strongly implemented cell shading . same here a game like kof 94-2022 will look good and nice even today. but HxH is out dated . end of the day no one want to play an ugly looking game. most of the players are not pros. never was and neve be.
I think I'll be in a wait and see mode with this game until even post-release. I just choose not to get burned again with overhyping a game that may not deliver on the things that make a game successful for myself. MBTL, DnF, KoF15 were all major letdowns where you can barely play online even if you want to with the small populations and poor features that don't incentivize a fun grind
Hey Diaphone, how are you feeling about GBVS':R's health at this point all these months later? I can't help but see your steam charts example and see the harsh dropoff we've had. I've been having so much fun with the game, but i'm honestly kind of worried it's on the downward trend.
To be expected (but I should have included it, since compared to these two games, it's in a waaaaaay healthier state)
Yeah, I guess it's just jarring since it's my first FG i've gotten really invested in. I took a small break after 2B's release and came back for Vane to find lobbies quite a bit emptier then I think i've ever seen them.
I really hope we see another uptick after EVO.
The game's gorgeous visuals and approachability are second to none, and it's really done a lot for my enjoyment of FG's.
More people need to play, tbh.
@@Projekt_XIII I played for the first few months, stopped in order to play a lot of FF7 Rebirth, and went to DBFZ after that. I intend to come back though, Granblue Rising is fun.
Though to be fair I only played in Ranked/Casual, so me coming back won't affect lobby sizes. Unless we're at the stage of ArcSys game where Ranked/Casual is basically empty and lobbies are the way to go to find matches already, anyway.
@Diaphone apologies for the ping, but curiously what would you consider a healthy FG population to be? GBVS sits at around 750-850 on Steam, while something like Strive sits at 3K.
They both got crossplay, so I imagine the reality is that both have a good chunk not accounted for.
DNF Duel is an underrated gem. I wouldn't put it in the ranks of MVC: Infinite at all.
I love DnF Duel I just had to stop playing it when every single match online was against swiftmasters…
This game looks a lot like an indie game
I want to try out this game before judging too harshly but it REALLY depends on the price of the game. If they demand anything more than 30 dollars then hell nah
If the game's small budget, I doubt they're gonna have the cash to run a pro tour also
hxh is my favorite media of all time, will be playing this, I hope it succeeds.
DNF dying so damn fast is so wild to me man. Still don't get how that happened.
Extremely unbalanced kusoge with BIZARRE borderline negligent dev support and communication on top of a weak base IP so not much of an established fan base to draw from.
Of course the game died the moment people got over their honeymoon phase
I'll give it a shot if its less than 40 dollars for sure
easiest way to make a fighting game successful is to not make it cost an arm and a leg lol, monetization is easily the biggest hurdle for getting into any fighting game
I think my only real complaint with the graphics is that it looks like it’s missing identity. It doesn’t need to look like FighterZ or Tekken 8, but maybe giving the characters outlines something along the lines of the Demon Slayer game would make them stand out more.
If anything I just dont care much for the source. If this was a Yu Yu hakusho game I would be all over it. Graphics arent a huge deal for me as long as its not stick figures. Though I think your idea of a lower price would be a smart move.
idk I'm starting to think the only reason people torerated Mahvel bullshit was the love for the X-Men.
Honestly, Eighting is the goat when it comes to jank in fighting games
as someone that does tournaments multiple times a week i still expect good graphics, whats even worse is the animations.
If people care that much about graphics just crowd fund for better graphics or something. It's not like a lot of money is going into the game so they probably want to focus on gameplay rather than graphics.
i was so hype for hxh fighting game but after seeing the way it looks actually just killed it for me :(
Underrated =/= good
I, too, love DNF duel and think it got way too much flak for no reason.
I bet you will win some tournaments for it, I mean it's easy to win a singleplayer tournament.
I think that you underestimate how bad HxH looks and look at it through kinda old fighting game players eyes. I think that newer hardcore players are spoiled for choice and this just looks terrible in comparison to other stuff. While MvCI might not be a looker it's 7 years old. Since then we had a bunch of beautiful arcsys games all new SF, Tekken, 2xMK, MB:TL, UNI2.... and Hunter x Hunter doesn't even look as good as something from 2017 it looks straight up 2010.
I play shitloads of FGs but I started in 2019 and I cannot see myself picking this up. I believe that many people who started playing FG recently won't do it either. Especially if something like Project L would be on release horizon in similar timeline. Sure those are different games but I don't think niche for assist fighters is so big to saturate both this games.
No motion inputs? well if they think we are disabled and cant do simple combos then no money for them!
it depends on the price point
boosting cus i want this vid to do well
I'm actually just glad they didn't turn his into an arena fighter, like most other anime games.
Hopefully 8ing won’t be under Nexon, so that they can communicate with the other company better.
Honestly I just feel like this game looks like a bad HxH game. As in, the way the characters fight does not feel like HxH, it's just a generic fighting game with HxH characters slapped on. The movesets look kinda samey and don't focus all that much on characters unique abilities, there is no mechanic that takes advantage of how nen works to translate that into a fightiing game. Especially for a cheap game like that they could have taken much more risks.
DNF DUEL is AMAZING just a shame it didn’t last long or even become popular
