EDIT: I lied about Nier, she might be hardest character to master but because you can win with the bare basics cause she's super strong, she goes up to easy tier lol
So should be obvious this is a list of who I (and chat) believe are the easiest characters for newer players to GBVS to pick up. I still recommend any new player just play who they like, no character is impossible for newcomers in this game. Obviously this is a subjective (what's easy for you might not be easy for me). so your results may vary.
A character can be strong and still be hard to play, this isn't a character strength tier list. Too early for that
Soup
Yeah the Nier take aged like milk 😂
One thing I never understood, since the inception of the original game, is people calling Narmaya hard, sure she's not Gran or Kat easy, but the difficulty of using stances is grossly exaggerated, in the end her gameplay is simple.
I would consider Ferry, Metera, Eustace, Ladiva, Vaseraga, Zooey, and now Grimnir to be harder just because of their archetypes.
This game is very fun, and with being easy to pick up and play I had great time trying out all the characters with my kids. Every time a super came out we all just shouted WOAHH!! In sync haha
Finding it very hard to pick a character to focus on!
Good thing GBVSR has a little less nudity than the previous game
just picked this up as my first granblue game so loved the video giving a quick run down on each character.
This was a very nice video. I already knew this but you still managed to make me watch it :)
Can't wait to play this once I'm off work. GBVS was my game during the lockdown. I mained Anre/Bub, but I'm thinking of putting work into Eustace, Soriz, and/or Nier
You forgot to mention charlottas mixup on her overhead attack where if you let it play out with no input she'll slide on the ground and do a low attack instead
Sounds like cammy
@@ZiyaB3astit's akuma demon flip
Putting Ferry and Lowain together is kind of funny because the first lab time I spent in GBVS was learning to counter Yggy (can only "win" the match only to lose so many times before you boot up lab) and Geegee setups.
To be precise eustace is a mid ranger, his projectiles are decent zoning tools but great for stray hit confirms and such, his projectiles definitely aren't good enough to be a zoner, and his close combat stance dash is very useful as it works in tandem with rat race, EX rat race to be exact.
Thanks! This helped me find who I’m interested in! 😮
So happy that I decided to pick the perceived hardest character in the game for the series I have am basically brand new to. Gonna be a fun road ahead.
love the explanations as always high quality content im waiting for the game to go on sale since i had the previous version im itching to play my fav vira though ngl best thing about this game is how easy it is to pickup for anyone
You help me a lot for sf6 for Cammy ans you did it again .
Thanks for the community and your Time
Great to see you covering granblue again. Ferry may be fairly difficult relatively speaking, but she's the only chara i can really play. New players on her might die just off the fact that all her buttons are really slow and have low priority so shes vulnerable to being crushed. And belial seems more like a shoto, he's just privelidged and does everything including zoning well.
Might try griminir and nier too. Comin from ferry, who would be the easier transition?
Love your vids Diaphone, slowly watching this while I work, lots of good info as always. I have a quick question maybe you can help with. How the heck do you deal with light dash attack? I lost like 20 matches in a row last night due to not being able to figure out how to respond to this button. My brain can't seem to grasp that it's a frame trap or something. Would love some insight!
Keep up the awesome work
I think the strength of 66L offense along with the amount of Ultimate skills that sort've 'check' any attempt to play a reckless fireball game is going to make it potentially difficult for Metera as offense develops. You can sort've rush into the gap that far range normals like her 2M and 5M used to control with a pretty good risk/reward and her buttons are still slower than cast average
Sioux has been a top tier dark unit in the gacha game since he was released many years ago.
Pretty much a monster. An easy add to your dark teams.
Lore-wise, he's one of the strongest mortal characters. An Eternal and top 10, supposedly.
who's the strongest in the current cast lore-wise?
@@karayi7239 I think you're onto something, gotta pick mobile game meta
@@karayi7239 Considering recent events? It'd have to be Gran/Djeeta. Maybe Orologia since he/she our keeper and help cultivate us through hundred of millions of different timelines.
@@karayi7239Gran/Djeeta depending on what the plot wants (they can range from fighting literal gods to struggling against regular thieves), other than they, probably a toss up between Belials,Beelzebub, Lucilius and Cagliostro.
@@Diaphone duh, if you pick the canonically strongest, you get an advantage.
Can't wait to see the tier list updated when Lucilius and 2B are added
Great list. I enjoy playing Nier but she is extremely tough especially in certain matches where the opponent is very aggressive like Beelzebub and Belial. I love Grimnir but sheesh I can't figure out what to do with him outside of going for pokes into his seals to jump on.
I love everything about Nier but oh boy, shes quite hard. I played against a Grimnir that just delete me. Both him and Nier are hard do play with but when they get going, its insane
Also, 29:37 this is harder than it looks. He did the Death moves with a Delay, you do that pressing "M" during the input, and for that sequence, it needs to be REALLY FAST (note the symbols on the card flashing). The other ones he used "H", but it consumes one stack to do it, and that's why she almost reach 0. Overall, that setup + combo is very unlikely to happen in a normal match, just because of her stacks, those you CAN'T get it back unless you use all of them. But i'll take notes because one or two mixups here we can get in a match
I’m normally not a puppet player, but Nier is by far the main hook for me in rising. I was a huge bubs and anre player prior to rising, but the skill ceiling with the set play is just so much fun. That and also her SSBA animation at low hearts is so cool
She's probably the most commonly played character right now
@@-8h- I play on the South America server (i'm Brazilian) and around 25 matches, i never seen another Nier lol. But yeah, i know in others servers she appears a lot
@@rokazeravas4904I've been accidentally baiting DPs with her the setplay potential is insane
Worth mentioning, but some characters will come easier or harder for you based on your own experience or preferences. I've mostly been playing a setplay character recently (Akiha in MBTL), so I have a much easier time netting wins with Ferry than with Gran.
Like you said, it depends on our own experience in fighting games which characters we'll main. I like to play with characters who keep distance or has more than one stance in other games (like Tira in Soulcalibur or Hilda in UNIEL & Cross-Tag), so I finally main Narmaya & Cagliostro here in GFVR and I find them pretty easy to use, but I understant why people keep saying Narmaya is a really hard character to play at first.
Amazing video, got me to buy the game, and my first experience is... That it's F:ing awesome. Ty diaphone, hope you'll make more Granblue content!
For the bottom of your tier list you didn't put hardest you put working overtime for that I subscribed. I'm proud of you. Thank you so much
The problem with lists like these are that they look at how easy/hard the character is technically, but that doesn't really translate to winning as a newbie. For example, you say Nier is difficult but frankly, you can lab her for an hour, learn basic combos/set-ups and your reversal combo, and absolutely destroy your way through the low ranks. It's not even mechanically that hard to execute.
On the other hand, you could play Anila, which is mechanically very easy to play, but you won't accomplish much at lower ranks cause she's really a footsies/neutral character that needs to slowly grind the win.
So in a way, easy to play doesn't mean easy to win with.
I dont think "easy vs bad players" and "easy vs competitive players" is going to be the same
Yeah, people tend to not be consistent about whether they are talking about how easy a character is to pick up vs how easy it is to win with a character when making lists like these. He ended up changing his mind about Nier, but I feel the whole list is flawed if you're considering who is easier to win with and IMO that is what is more important than a character being "training mode hard" at any level of play really not just low ranks.
Characters like Kat and Gran especially stand out to me as characters with little to no knowledge checks that everyone understands the moment they see them so things like mu inexperience are almost completely removed as a factor since everyone knows how Gran works and what his gameplan is. There's also how good a character is and how good their mu spread is that's a factor so a character like Kat or Percival will obviously have to work much harder than a character like Nier or Lancelot.
The vide I was looking for ❤
This list was 10/10 if for no other reason than the names of the tiers. I laughed when "fisher price" first popped up. Siegfried is my all-time favorite Granblue Fantasy character, I waited GBVS entire lifecycle for him to not show until the sequel, and I cannot remotely deny that he belongs in FP.
Respect the insight on Vaseraga too.
Fisher Price hahaha! I love it. For me, I would of just label that category, "Whose the Ryu & Whose the ken" LoL. Great work Diaphone. Take care! Happy Holidays.
*Who is, right?
I never played the first game so I had a lot of characters I wanted to play coming into this one.
Originally I was going to start with Vaseraga, but I decided to swap over to Seox because the game said he was "easier", and I figured it'd be easier to start with a character that had more traditional movement rather than Vaseraga's slow movement and advancing specials.
Took me a while to realise Seox is a bit of a pain to play against lol
I think Siegfried is easy to pick up and play and super easy to play against. You can just spot dodge is 214M and Spot Dodge or Roll his Orkan follow-ups. Hell, you could even SSBA the follow-ups since Orkan can't parry SSBAs. So he becomes harder to use effectively considering his glaring flaws.
Like I posted earlier, thanks for making these videos for the general public and cultivating people's interest in this franchise.
Orkan followups are mixups in and of themselves though, Spotdodge can be grabbed by U, while roll over can get hit during the recovery frames by other followups. But the strongest mixup that will see more play overtime likely is cancel. Orkan is only -4 on block and mashing spotdodge/roll or super will get you blown up if you’re not cautious as he will just punish you on recovery for a high commital option
Yeah, i agree, despite Sieg's gameplan being easy and straightforward, that is also his weakness since he is a really linear character once you get the hang on how he works, the only difference to Anila is that once he hits you, it makes sure you regret it lmao. i think he is on the lower end of the first tier, i think Six is way easier.
@@GrandSteven_ Nifty, I’ll give that go. Maybe I’ve just been delaying the input since roll has 100% beat my Orkan follow-ups. That will no doubt let him skip some neutral but the move itself is highly committal to do on its own. I’m hoping they adjust his install. The meter cost isn’t bad it is just the fact it costs half his health to do. Feels like a Joker not being able to reload situation. Maybe if he got high guts while in it like how his defense spikes in all his versions in the original game.
Just a small correction, according to Dustloop, each Orkan is -7 ob. With a startup of 14/21/16 for L/M/H accordingly. Which me there is a gap of 5/10/19 frames for the L/H/U follow-ups. So really a 5 frame jab can contest each(but will get caught by M).Where did you get -4? Could it be the frame data for max range?
(I hate mobile RUclips.)
Dustloop hadn't updated his by the time I checked, which at the time said -4 on all :V@@kaihimura3897
spot dodge timing is hard though.
My very first weeks watching fgc twitch you were dominating nlbc for gbvs.
Another Daphne vid, nice🎉 thinking of downloading it again and have another crack at it
My boy came through with the vid. 🙏
If diaphones easiest character to play doesn’t have the biggest booba I’ll be shocked.
Big boob Gran confirmed.
What is Gran hiding from us?!?!
Do you have any advice about switching controllers, I just switched from Xbox to arcade stick and...oh boy it's rough
This game is so much fun ! Love it ❤
What should I enable on the training menu so I can have those plus and negative colors?
Thinking abt beelzebub, eustace, or belial. They're so cool!
I have the most experience in Soul Calibur 6 as Groh. Which character would you recommend to match his style? Yuel? They both have a stance and can rush you down I guess.
I’ve also played a bit of Giovanna in Guilty Gear. Maybe Seox would match her more.
zeta should at least be in ehhh tier. her gameplan and moveset is pretty straight-forward, sure, but her combo routes & optimals are just harder than most of the cast's ong
I love how the vid turns into a seox rant midway lmao
I just installed the free version and honestly the game looks amazing. I just have two questions
1. Even though I put the highest quality I see that the character models are a bit blurry, but during the cinematica they look perfect, what's up with that??
2. What setup of buttons should I use? I tried both stick and controller and I really can't find a way to have all the buttons I need closely enough (for example the ones on the bottom right), got any advice about this?
@@Fralorgrafon my setup on stick (which is where I found myself a little better) is
L M H throw on the top row
and block dash unique and skill on the bottom row
I still should optimize it a bit but it's gonna end up quite difficult either way, thanks for the feedback tho
12:20 "Other than that she kinda plays like a shoto...Fireball...DP...Command dash"
Yeah you know the common shot move, running
Leaning toward katalina and zeta. Both have range that I like. Could use some after li Mei, from mk1, and her t-Rex arms
Diaphone's OCD comes out with the "Perfect" square.
I’m bugged where I cant get past connecting to server in title any fixes?
Id say siegfried should be at the end of fisher price or beginning of monke. He has simple tools but because the tools are slow and his normals are slow it can be harder to get hits compared to seox, charlotta, and katarina
Gonna be maining Grimnir, since I have him in the Gacha game.
i only just found out about this game literally today also never played a granblue game before or watched gameplay and i am damn near about to buy it purely because of belial and maybe a little bit for siegfried
I've been playing the Free Rising Version and I gotta say Anila is really fun
Don't know how feasible this is for you but I would love to see some mini-guides for the free characters each week.
What i am having difficultues with is how fast you have to react and do a special when you manage to hit with f5m or something like that because you can't gatling
I'm just not used, but it's taking me some time when i'used to only strive
Man just got this fighter last night. Lol how did i miss this gem of a game. This game is way easier to get into than under night in-birth ii
I love vira she was main in the first game but nier may have stole my heart noe so fun
Thanks for this you know I love playing baby mode characters, because of my time restraint.
Plus Gran is free!!!!!
Anyone else having issues with custom offline versus rules on PS5? I set it to Manual stage select but it still does Auto. Also my random character select doesn’t work.
You are fast to make easy/hard characters to play Tierlist, Diaphone.
Be ready next week is the first TNS tournament for GBVS Rising
only 4 of these characters are new. its not fast. the game plan of the cast has had years to develop.
Yeah like the other person said this list wasn't hard to make even with the new tools. Most of the cast is still relatively easy to figure out for the list
I like how Narmaya is just as "odd" to use as she is in the mobile game, where she also has a stance-switching mechanic that changes your gameplay. Though back when she was released, the stance switching was really clunky in practice, and for longer fights it wasn't worth using her - mostly 2-3 turn fights at most.
I agree with the hard characters
Especially since I still try to get better with Nier and Ferry but my brain just doesnt wants to function with them completely.
While using someone like Zooey, Yuel etc. Its much easier.
While one thing I was wondering about.
The music that plays during 4:04 I heard it plenty of times but always forget which theme it is from
As a fan of the GBF franchise, I'm ashamed to admit I slept on the first Versus game. But I did pick up Versus Rising. I'm not very far into it yet because frankly, fighting games like this style just aren't my thing. Probably because I'm lousy at memorizing combos and I really don't like the idea of just button mashing the same move 100 times in a row.
I want to learn how to get good with Yuel as she's my favorite character in the franchise. But like I said, I'm maybe 2 hours of play time into this game and I already feel like I've set off on the path of bad habits.
It's also overwhelming because it almost feels like you need to master every character, just so you know how to play against every character.
Any tips on the early game learning curve? How to develop the right habits and stuff?
Did they remove teleportation from Beelzebub or did you forget about it?
I played Avatar Belial as a side character in GBVS and he isn't hard at all to play, what you think is hard about him is his feast or famine playstyle
Pretty much
I have not played GBVS first off BUT i think feast or famine characters are by definition just harder because of their nature and inconsistency. You can’t look at all the times you had a feast and go “yea super easy character” and ignore all the times you had a famine.
If you’re character relies on you hitting that 100-0 then it’s harder then other characters who basically have more chances to win and do they’re win cons
@@Faceless_one_ its like chipp in strive but basically worse off. You need to guess right 2-5 times, and if you fuck something up you lose half your health and is now in kill range. You need to do insanely long combos and play perfectly or else you are in an inherent advantage with your low hp which screams one shots with a super.
good example would be chipp vs potemkin and avatar belial vs siegfried. you need to guess right like 4 times to bring them down and basically without any mistakes. potemkin can just ooga booga a grab and deal 80% of your hp, and siegfried will one shot you if you're at like 60% and mess up an input. Their potential for domination is insane, and if you play perfectly they're amazing. but no ones perfect and its reflected when you miss an ability and end up getting full comboed and losing the entire round even though you straight outplayed them.
(i love my boy avatar belial though, but in lower tiers when you dont have full combos figured out you can do like 2 normal auto combos and specials per combo at most, which is like 10-20 hits, which would be alot if the enemy siegfried couldnt ooga booga and press any special button and demolish half your hp with no combo. it ends up just being a matter of how mistakes are amplified with avatar.
@@lukelun but that just comes with the character just like Chipp. You’re choosing to play this type of character and I would assume avatars combos are just as damaging if not more so then others. Again just like Chipp, that’s the offset you take so I still don’t see the problem with the character. Maybe he’s a little too much on the famine side but these characters are extremely difficult to balance correctly as it js
Are you plannimg to do a specific character combo guide video?:)
As a Narmaya player I'm flattered to see her being seen as a hard character but I believe she's really in the Ehhh tier since the only difficult gimmick she has is switching her forms and once you've gotten used to it she's fairly simple to use compared to other characters
you might just have a big brain
Theoretical physics becomes understandable, after you put enough time into it but at the core it's harder then riding a bike. And Narmaya is more complex when compared to the rest of the roster. This is coming from a Narmaya main as well.
As an Ex-Narmaya main I think I agree with you. She's pretty easy kinda like Cag imo (used to play em both)
Nah. You're pretty wrong.
@@gengarts3447😂😂
Actually we already have character tier on dashfight. It’s an early version but it’s something. Also Percival is as high as ever
i would kinda say Vaseraga is up in 9 to 5 tier, you can only get far if you know the match up since everyone is faster than him and hit harder (which is weird to me, big guy should do big damage)
Surprisingly enough I don't have any issue with near maybe it's because I played a lot of storm and clash of Ninja growing up but puppet characters are usually easy to manage
holy dam I came in here expecting to be mad but I agree with 90% of your placements lmao
Nier might become my fav FG char of all time.
I love all these characters and I'm sad I can't main them all. I'm hoping to see Io and some other Arcanum/Eternals being added.
I feel the same way. Unlike Strive were I stick to Millia Rage, I play multiple fighters on rotation based on what I fell like. I like Gran Blue Rising’s simple inputs because I don’t have to memorize or build up muscle memory to have an effective strategy.
Narmaya is hard, but that only makes me want to learn her even more.
She's not hard to be honest
@HubbaGaming yeah, I found her INCREDIBLY easy to learn.
She strikes me as low skill floor, but sky high skill ceiling
Thats what makes a character hard though
@@TheDapperDragonthings that aren't true for 500. 😂 good try tho.
As a main Narmaya, I can assure you she's not that hard to play.
How tough is Nier to play relative to other puppet characters in other games? Kinda looks like there’s some P4AU dna here with the persona displacement.
Gran army staying strong. Had few matches now and already got 3 mirrors. Keep up the boot superiority my white bread brothers
F2p char lol
I like Narmaya but it can be challenging to learn due to the small but annoying delay she has when changing modes. You need to know well every other character in the game in order pace her 100%.
Narmaya is my Queen. Hard or easy
Zooey too
14:50 made me laugh pretty hard.
As if there was a real risk of viewers possibly thinking that what was displayed there was more or less the extent of what could be expected in terms of a follow-up
Nier has 'a little summon', sure does! Litterally summons death from a tarot card xD
I'd say Metera is technically easier to play than Cagliostro, Lowain, Narmaya, Nier and Grimnir. But it's actually way easier to win with any of them than with her. Specially now that her fH gets punked by half the cast's dash Ls.
Awesome rundown.
And Lunalu would probably be on the very end. Or in the middle, depending on random select settings.
“GBFV might be one of the easiest fighting games-“
Damn… I really must be complete ass then XD
I like that I end up always gravitating towards harder characters. Brain why am I doing this to myself?
Eh why not. Grimnir is worth it.
glad im not the only Yuel who sees she has a stance, and proceeds to not use it
Anyone got a button layout for arcade stick? Can't play on pad due to hand problems
Here’s my setup:
Top row (from left to right) - medium attack, heavy attack, block, dash.
Bottom row (from left to right) - weak attack, unique attack, the other two don’t matter so I don’t have them binded to anything.
If you wanna bind the skill button then maybe do it to one of those empty ones but I’m just so used to technical inputs that I don’t use the skill button.
@@roscoejenkins7759 forsure thanks I'll try it out!
on leverless i have top row LMHU, bottom row SK BL TH DA. i just keep my fingers on the top row with thumb on SK and thumb over to BL when i need it, i never use the other two, i use L+M for throw and doubletap dash
Never touched granblu originally and during the beta just randomly picked narmaya. My hands are still hurting. Lol
As an xbox player, im so glad i get 2 years of research for the game before it probably comes out
Idk because of me getting used to modern Zangief in SF6 or not, but Ladiva is one of the most easiest character to pick up for me beside Seox lol. Also with Narmaya . And I couldn't pick up Anila at all
I'm a main Narmaya, and I can't do anything with Anila too XD.
Beelzebub best character fr fr (definitely not a biased scummy trick-zoner main). Guaranteed hit with a big SUCC and quite literal corner hacks with his set distance teleport and friggin 'CONDOR DIVE!'. Also genuinely one of the stupidest moves in-game, a disgusting positive full-screen pull into super command grab. Also also, FULL SCREEN RAW SSBA FOR THE WIN!
I been playing Djeeta because she reminds me of Cassandra from Soul Calibur. That is all.
Is it really easy? I tried the demo and it definitely didn't feel that easy
Gotta agree with Kizzy Kay, Nier is NOT hard at all for a puppet character
"His ex dive is +" says -5 on screen or am i insane?
funny alot of the characters i want to play are hard. but they look the coolest to me.
I'm crap at fighting games but I really want to play Nier
I think I'm the only one who think Anila is hard to master xD. I'm a main Narmaya, Anre and Cagliostro, and I can't do anything with Anila, I want to use her more because I love the character, and I love sheeps, but I just can't do anything good with her. And online I very rarely find someone who's actually really good with her.
You do know that Soriz is down special deletes fireballs right And he is a very high jump He's great at closing gaps He's not as one dimensional as you think and he has an install
Seox, fisher price tier? Sign me the fuck up!
Yeah i found everything there was to find with the character in like an hour lol. Pretty straightforward yet effective gameplan.
He called Grimnir's thingies Answer seals instead of Bang.... for shame
Can you explain how to use Yuel's second stance? Seems kind useless imo
It’s like a party, when she’s struck in that stance it counter hits.
You can enter stance out of all her specials so you can use it in some situations to extend combos or pressure
Him saying -1 is plus just told me everything about the state of the professional level of fgc. You don’t come back from that.
I kinda regret having Tekken as my first and only fighting game because I don't get the combo links and movement in 2d fighting games, specially anime games where you need to move the stick a lot
I'd love to learn anime fgs but my brain and hand just refuses to understand them
I played Ladiva when this game came out and if I get back into it I still plan on using Ladiva!
If you are Narmaya player like me you should feel like you're the only one who play her 😂
A statement so true yet so wrong at the same time LMAO
