The thing about Grimnir is that he's a dork that likes to look cool, his powers are wind based, so Max probably didn't get what he was doing during his SSBA, the rose was just to add to the cool factor.
I only know him from his Appearance in Dragalia Lost but he was definitely a wind guy

Yeah the anime troupes don’t mix with Max. He’s basically an ironic weeb. I get it but I think he was kinda harsh on the supers.
@@myuugi I mean yeah. Max has never really been secretive about his biases when it comes to games. This ain't an objective look at supers, it's "here's what guy thinks about supers", and it's obvious which ones he'll gravitate to. If you're not a fan just skip these videos, cause I doubt they're gonna change.

I agree with most of his takes but I do kinda wish he gave Cagli a little more credit for creativity, it was one of the few supers that showed any real character.
@@ELDENLORD89 Honestly I don't think he was as harsh as he was just detached and reasonable. I think people who like it obviously will rate it higher but doesnt mean he should. Half of his ratings I agreed with and I definitely like anime more than he does

Vira's 2nd ult is one of the coolest things I've ever seen Arc do , the wind up to the axe swing at the end is so good it's unfortunate we're not going to see Max's reaction to Nier's full ultimate but that stuff happens sometimes
Narmaya's is great too, I'm just so happy granblue got its second chance chance
Max you missed one, the death chick who’s a puppets character super changes the lower her stacks are so at 1 stack of puppets action it’s crazier
Yeah Vira also has a custom win screen against Katalina
There's a few variations here with some Supers, like Vira's SSBA against Katalina, and the rare chance of Grimnir fumbling his lines in his SSBA.

Arc System Works did a lot of work but dont forget about Cygames's visual guidance (camera placements, particle effect shapes etc) is top notch

YES! Years ago my inspiration to get a PC and even to get more into fighting games was seeing the supers in the first Granblue fighting game and Max's videos on it from back in the day!

For Nier though, unfortunately he didn't know that the animation changes based on the remaining number of Love's Redemption.
Animation for her are different when you have 9+ remaining, 4-8 remaining and then the full animation at 3 or lower.
Tried to send a dono after he finished hers but he read it when he was ending the stream unfortunately lol
But man , you don't understand Max, he doesn't give a score based of lore or the motives of the character, he gives the score for the cinemactic and the "punch" of the super. But... he has his bias.
Because if the character is blonde or has something red, and his super is a Ragnarok, Asura's wrath or a Demon type super, he will love it.
But that's why we love Max man, he is a super talented dood and funny as hell

That audible cleaning of the blade puts Narmaya's up a point though.
I know Narmaya gets high ratings for obvious reasons and I have a bias because its granblue but how cold and slick as fuck Narmaya's is, I have to give it a 10.

I don't know if Max would do this, but I'd like to see a Rate The Super comparing games to each other, just to see how they stack up.
Maybe get all the ten ratings and rank them against each other

Me personally, I'd have dbfz in my top 2-3 but gyatt does the rising cinematics looks so god like. If it's specific supers from each series here's my list (not in order)
1. Sephiroth's super from smash bros
2. JP's CA super
3. Seth's super from under night
4. UI goku's super dbfz
Soriz's ult is why I main him lmao. His Japanese VA also makes it sooooo fuckin' epic

Vaseraga I think is at least a nine. The shot of him sliding with his hand damn near on the ground while spinning the scythe behind him goes so crazy

3:02 I think a good special edition of Rate the Super would be gathering a lot of 10/10s you’ve given out in the past, and rank them from 1/10, while reaffirming at the start that they’re 10/10s in their respective games.
Also, I really want you to do Demon Slayer. That game’s supers are on par visually with this one.

demon slayer supers are next level. A friend of mine talked to one of the devs when they came over to talk about game dev. They literally said they had to make their visuals WORSE so it wouldn't overshadow the anime.
@@twistyseult As much as everyone says that CC2 games ruined anime fighters (tbh it's more on Spike Chunsoft for making the actual cheap knock offs like Jump Force and OPM). They always delivered in the fanservice department, whether it's visuals or story.
There's a reason why Storm is so beloved in the arena fighter community.

Not only does it look great, but the game also has a GREAT roster day-one. I know, it's a typical Arc-Sys sequel, but I really do feel like there's someone for everyone at launch, and that's great.

Nier's super changes the lower the stock she has for her puppet, so at 1 she gets a bit more flair to it.
Nier's super has a bit more to it if you do it when she's almost out of hearts (she consumes hearts to summon her puppet), though it would have only moved the needle on the valuation a little I think.
Must be below 3 to make me wet my pants.
Fun fact, because I'm a Classical Japanese literature nerd, it's very appropriate that Narmaya says "Ame no Uzume no mai" and her blouse comes undone because in the Kojiki, the goddess called "Ame no Uzume" does a silly dance where her breasts fall out of her kimono and make all the other gods hoot, holler and laugh in an attempt to get the sun goddess to come out of a cave. Maybe I'll get around to retelling those myths on my channel, but for now I'll leave Kojiki explanations to RUclips comments.

Nier's super actually changes based on the number of stacks of her ability she has. If you do it when she's around 3 or less she is visibly going insane during the super, which is just a nice touch of flavor added to the animation
It's genuinely SUCH good camerawork on that super at max power, and the symmetrical slashes add to the cool factor, yeh.
The Nier super has a little extra if you do it on Gran btw.
Edit: actually the extra little bit might be if you do the parry version instead of the combo version, on anyone. >_>

Vira's first one, when not against Katarina, is a 10/10 to me. The stupid crazy laugh adds so much to the super to me.
funny thing he mentions Anre/Uno as a Tarutaru, as Granblue Fantasy (the mobile game the fighter is based on) actually had an offical FFXI collab some time ago when FFXI turned 20.
Still holding out for a rate the finisher for Marvel Nemesis Rise of the Imperfects and Playstation all-starts. 😅
5:31 - I feel like Perci should be given 1 or 2 more points because you can hold down the input and juggle people with the initial vortex. It does make a difference in how cool it is IMO...The dramatic finish where everything is engulfed in the flames is badass too.
I really appreciate that most of the Skybound Arts are based on the ougis of the characters on the gacha game.

I’m surprised that nobody let him know about how some SSBAs have unique interactions with every playable character in the game (eg Ladiva, Cagliostro, etc.). He did check out different reactions with other games like Guilty Gear and it did boost the ratings for a bunch of supers there, so it could’ve been the case here

For Nier, you need to not only be lower stacks, but also do it against the MC's either Gran or Djeeta. Her whole stick is he a yandere for them, so the voice acting and animations change slightly for them.
Side note this game is.. beautiful

Missed the special Vira vs Katalina yandere finish and also Nier's super gets crazier the lower heart thingies she has. Also agree that the game looks amazing!
This was probably the fairest and most generous I've seen Max with these, so I'm not sure why anyone would've expected any higher. Could've always rated lower for plenty of them.
