As a French person I couldn't help but flinch at the idea of using my fingers to eat curry and rice in a restaurant 😂
Aaah you gotta try it, once you get past not being used to it, there's something so natural/primal about it, it somehow makes the food taste even better! As a Cypriot I'm a bit more used to eating things with hands, not to this degree but we have a lot of chicken and souvla etc that we eat with out hands. In fact, it's quite common to have a cypriot tell you to to get over yourself if you're trying to handle some meat with a knife and fork and "get on with it!". This is because I was in the UK for 15 years and grew accustomed to eating meat with a knife and fork, and it took me a while to get back used to the Cypriot ways 😂 its almost seen as ridiculous actually if you tried to eat souvla for example with cutlery.
Also if you eat with your hands you're showing a deeper appreciation for the food, and its like you came with an appetite (again, this is far more respected). Aaaah cultural differences are so interesting!
