Thank you so much for this, Keith. Most folks skip the basics assuming we already have this stuff set up. I really appreciate the methodical way in which you present this tutorial.
I always hope that is what these video do… to give the step by step: I have been doing some of that Live over the last two week each Tuesday. Hope to see you then in the Live Chat.
Another great video. Thanks so much Keith.. I greatly appreciate the information!
Solid video and great channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks doing my best!
Great video Keith!
Thanks Tony!
Hi Keith, I hope all is well with you and your family. I just got a new computer (my son-in-law built a monster gaming pc-so it fast, has lots of memory and an powerful video card). I am watching all your videos to get the correct firmware and set up stuff for my ATEM and HyperDeck Studio. I will reach out to you later this month to continue my training. I greatly appreciate all your expertise and awesome help....Cheers!
Glad you are still adding, growing and learning! Look forward to hearing from you!
@@keithbennett5179 thanks Keith
This series is FAR BETTER than the Mini series!
Thanks Freddy, I appreciate it!
Hi Keith, great instruction to learn from you how to setup my Hyperdeck. Would it be possible to also use the Bi-Directional SDI/HDMI 3G micro converters for that purpose? In advance, thank you very much for your response.
Yes, there has been some issues with them resetting to the default direction when they loose power. I have not used them but that’s what my research on RUclips came up with! Thanks for the nice comment!
Thanks
Thank you for the note!
Thanks Keith! Great videos! Just wondered is it possible to record the Fill&Key layer as a video file if I’m using atem mini extreme iso? My intention is to record it as a lyrics layer. Thanks a lot!
Not sure what exactly you are needing end result but if you have the fill and key hooked into two inputs and you record ISO you will be recording Both channels.
@@keithbennett5179 I need it to be able to edit(correcting the wrong lyrics) in post once the worship part done. Do you happen to know if it’s possible? Thanks a lot!
@@dckwok so you can record any source but it sounds like you would need to replace a keyed Lyric if it was wrong. So if you have iso recordings enabled you can rebuild the live event in a video editing software after it’s over and not use the wrong Lyric for the final video.I hope this answers the question!
What type of file format do you use cause I loaded side videos and lower thirds in my new hyperdeck plus but it says no media on the software control though the software can see the hyoerdeck and everything is working but can detect the media on the SDCard…
All files should be rendered Pro Res, same frame rate and size for instance: 1080P 30 FPS .
Hey - I'm new to the Atem family and your videos are awesome!! Thank you!
Do I have to have a HyperDeck to play animated graphics/videos or will plugging in a laptop running Premiere Pro work "automatically" as an input for an "live" upstream/downsteam keyer?
(I need to make changes in Premiere live then broadcast them on-air, without rendering the video)
Yes you do need a HyperDeck or you can use a A Blackmagic Design Ultra studio if you have a thunderboldt port or add a Decklink duo card to your pc. Lastly makes sure you get aHyperDeck that offers fill and key the new shuttle and the HyperDeck Mini Hd does not have key and fill (A & B) SDI outs. I have an older HyperDeck Mini at it does the new HyperDeck Mini HD was fake in back a step and the HyperDeck Mini HD Plus does have SDI key and fill. So HyperDecks are all used from the SD cards and the dikes have to be rendered same frame rate and size as a key fill Apple Pro Res renders. I have a video on that on my HyperDeck series. If you go to an Ultra Studio or a DeckLink duo card you can use software like OBS and ProPresenter and other streaming software. If you go ATEM switchers you will need two converter the SDI outputs to hdmi or purchase a ATEM SDI but I use Canon Cameras so it makes way more since to convey because everything else in my studio is HDMI. ruclips.net/video/aXJDCkfL-D0/видео.htmlsi=wyluiLOkswUJAtZv
Also I’m not familiar with Premier pro being used live for quick graphics. There are other streaming services that do work off a pc but I don’t like to use a computer to stream and encode. It has to many potential issues. The ATEM EXTREME ISO is my weapon for that in fact I have to linked together.
@@keithbennett5179 A Blackmagic Design Ultra Studio Recorder or Monitor? (I'm thinking about getting the SDI Extreme ISO)
The Extreme ISO has more outputs and that is very enticing but the HyperDecks for my studio are the only SDI outputs. I do wish for more outputs
I noticed it has 2 card slots, can you simultaneously record and use opposite card to play back video etc
No you can eiktyer record or play and it takes about three seconds to change modes from Play to Record. The cards will auto switvh if you are recording for a long time so it's perfect for hot swapping cards at a wedding or long event. You can also record and play to a SSD through the USB C
Keith grant video with the Hyper deck extreme 4k hdr how many cameras can i record in to HyperDeck.
blackmagic released the atem television studio 4k8 with no iso option.
Each HyperDeck will record one input that’s why a ATEME ISO is such a great deal. As well as the Television HD8 ISO is such a great HD option. Sorry about this but there is not an option yet for 4k ISO but HyperDecks are the original option for each camera. Make sure you realize HyperDecks are not all the same for 4k frame rates so do your research.
@@keithbennett5179 ok thanks
Question for ya that I can’t seem to find any videos on…if you look at the documentation for some of the hyperdecks (this one being one of them), they state that the usb c can “Record to external disks or disk arrays.” - but I can’t find anything on how to do this and how it works. Have you gotten this feature to work? Is it simple?
Yes, it will record to SSD via USB C. I use the ScanDisk models and they work fine and okay back fine but have not used a usb hub. I have heard some people out there taking about a hub that works. Black magic sells a big one but perhaps John Barker at Hear to Record could answer that. I will however check into it for you this week. Great question.
@@keithbennett5179 Cool, thanks for your reply, I’m mainly interested in recording to a faster drive than a sd card, don’t really care about a hub, but that would be interesting!
The ScanDisk are very fast this year I have a 1050MBS and a 1600MBS and I saw a 2000MBS this week in my research on speeds. These are SSD drives. I edit video directly to and from them for my clients. This is what I saw: SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD - Up to 2000MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 - External Solid State Drive - SDSSDE81-2T00-G25
@@keithbennett5179 Awesome, thanks!
Well done Keith! Are you not using the HDMI out on the Hyperdeck?
It goes into my ATEM Mini Pro for now. I’m using the sdi out into my BenQ monitor so I can turn on the extra data. Lots of options with this Deck!!!
Thanks for the video Keath. One question: do you need to plug in a HDMI video source to make the HDMI output to work? I cannot see the clip that is being played on the HyperDeck through the HDMI output unless I plugin a source to HDMI input. Have you faced any similar issue?
You should be able to see what you are playing form a sd card through the HDMI Out. What format are the files on you sd card? The hyoerdeck will not play H264 files unless they were recorded on the hyperdeck itself. Also all the files need to be ProRes the same size, frame rate in order for a number of files to be seen at the same time. For instant a Prozress 4.2.2. file 1080p 60 frames and a ProRess 1080p 30 fram file will not show up at the same time. In fact I think it will only read the first file on on the card and not display the oher one. If you need more help register on my web page in the contact form and request a 1 hour Zoom consult it's free as time allows. www.lifesjourneyproductions.com/start-here The reason you are able to to put something in the HDMI input and see it in the output is it has pass through built in for monitoring. If you have a 4k HDMI input into the Stream Deck you will have to have a 4K monitor coming out of that same ooutput. Same goies with a recorded 4K 30 Frames per second file. You cdan however see 4k 30 frames per second on the fron pannel. Also if the firsgt frame on a file is blank you will have to hit play to see anything on the HYperDeck.
@@keithbennett5179 Thanks for the reply and for the offer to help. Looks like the issue that I am facing with HyperDeck Studio HD Plus is an issue started with firmware version 8.0.3 (according to posts in the Blackmagic design live production forum). Let me try to downgrade the firmware and see.
Keep me posted I am able to see the HDMI Fine. I have 8.0.3 installed. Interesting!
@@keithbennett5179 I just received a new unit (also with 8.0.3) and it does the same. You can't get HDMI output unless you plug something into the HDMI input. I was also able to find the same thread as Bright. The issue apparently started with 8.0.3. I've just installed 8.0.4 and it's still there. As mentioned on the Blackmagic forum site, a workaround if you don't want to downgrade to 8.0.2 is to set the input to SDI via the menu. You may not be having the problem since you're using an SDI to HDMI converter (for reasons I didn't understand). Interestingly, these units are not currently available in Australia even though this is an Australian company. I had to have mine shipped via the US. Australia has more strict consumer laws so I'm assuming that this may be the reason. It's really not that big of a deal with the workaround and I'm sure they will eventually fix the issue in a later firmware upgrade.
If you are using the sdi input will the HDMI out pass that signal through if you are not playing back recorded content?
Is there a way to have the hyper deck pro connect without the use of ethernet cable. I work in a hospital and dont have immediate access to a router.
That is how you set up the automation but you can que videos from the front panel and play them back. For animated logos you can hit the play button twice and they will continue to play over and over and you could cut to them like a Subscribe logo when you need to display it. You can also purchase at Network switch and connect them without outside networking also you could try connecting a cat cable from the ATEM to the HyperDeck. That may work as well I have not tried it. You of course will have to have the HyperDeck connected to the ATEM to play videos.
Olá
Tenho um Hyperdeck Studio hd pro e não faz o playback dos vídeos editados no davinci resolve studio ou em premier pro cc 2023 .
Já testei com os codecs
Dnxhd. Dnxhr. Prores proxy. Prores lt e não lê os ficheiros
Pode me ajudar?
Agradeço

You have to have the payed version that can render Pro Res version of your videos. The HyperDeck will only play back Pro Res.
Same with animated graphics. To read all the files on the disk you have to render the videos Pro Res and all the be same size and frame rate in order for them to play back.
hi can this work as instant reply ?
You would need more than one and some Macros to automate. Not sure that’s their best use case. With Bitfocus Companion you can make some easy Stream Deck buttons that would work for that. You would have to have one desk replay at the same time desk two take over. The trick would be finding what to replay and sort out rewinding to that location.
alright
appreciated keith
