Outstanding, this is a killer solution! My first rack build had similar components, but wasn't nearly as well thought out for ease of use and flexibility, while keeping all of the professional features and connections accessible. The other biggest feature in the overall size, with such a small footprint this solution could fit in wider range of venues. The overall mobility for both road and air travel make this system very ideal for remote production. If only there was a wireless version of this build that would still allow camera control, then the possibilities would be endless.

Excellent work Alex! Both in planning and implementing the setup, as well as explaining it!
I noticed the different tripod markings on the floor for the (I suppose) different set backgrounds, clever!
This is the kind of set that really puts into perspective how Blackmagic changed the game, a few years ago it would have cost a lot more to have the same features.
And there's still room to grow, by switching to an SDI workflow someday if needed!
(now I understand why there are so many exclamation points in BM's product pages 🤣)

Yeah because the studio is used for 3-4 different shows each week, it definitely helps to have the tripod placements marked out on the floor with some coloured camera tape.
I totally agree with you about Blackmagic and how they have really made this sort of thing accessible to more people... a few years ago it would have only been traditional broadcasters with huge budgets that could have this sort of setup :)

    Something you might want to have a play with;
few months ago I started using the BirdDog Play as an input for fills, overlay, video playback etc; being fed either from OBS or any other NDI source; and allow for a roaming phone camera etc.
Found it has simplified alot of stuff and reduced the apps I need to interact with down to OBS studio, Behringer Air and ATEM.
It did have a 500ms to 1s delay for me but that could be because of the cheap touch screen laptop i used for the OBS feed.

Alex. This is stunning. OMG - where do I start!
If you were doing the same set up now, would you have gone for the new TV Studio HD8 ISO and 6K Pro Cameras. For portability this means you could bring location/track cameras directly into the show and leave the main hardware in the studio. Perhaps even an entire program could be created this way? I realise this would have switched you to SDI, perhaps with Studio Converters? I’m dying also to know what lenses you went for? Please, what were the start to delivery timeframes - and also, the hardware budget and your own budget. This seems like a lot of work but I’m sure made faster by your incredible knowledge! 😅 Personally I like the microphones as it gives talent a confidence crutch but I think I’d go for low profile arms like Joe Rogan rather than the stands? And finally, I don’t think you mentioned storage / or recording to SSD BMRaw in Camera? Sorry for so many questions but I’d really love to know. I’m also going to email you re scheduling a call.

Great video. Thank you very much. Always great to see how the atem mini (extreme) is used other then just for presenting the black magic products themself. My set is not as complete and tidy as yours yet but in general it is the same idea. The biggest difference is that I made the mini extreme part of the "desk" so for the real camera switching during a live broadcast (or live switching recording), I hit the actual buttons on the extreme. I chose that because less equipment in between feels fale-safer. I also use one mini computer for the Atem and Behringer control software and for video playback. One additional laptop to watch the stream and of course a router and switch to have my own network. Absolute great to see how good your whole technical set and stage (lighting) works. LOVE the idea of auto-changing lighting to make the stage even more interactive. Thank you for sharing this.

That is AMAZING. You have more versatility than most broadcast sports or news programs! 🏎📺🔥

I think that's one of the benefits of today's world right. The small production house can create content at just as good a quality as the big broadcast studios...but are able to react faster and be more versatile in many cases :)

    Hello Alex,
Thank you for sharing your and your co-workers experiences public. Just have some more questions in my mind.
1- Could you give more details about the studio and its other costs, such as utilities, rent of such studio and how big is the space ?
2- Can you give more details about the lighting and the products’ links ?
3- How did you build the background, why didn’t you get a screen. What is the cost of such background with its’ lights ?
4- Is it necessary to get all these products. Can you get the same outcome with less products?
Thank you again and hope you the best in your streaming life ✌️🙏

Nice setup!! I have one question.
What lenses are used on blackmagic studio cameras so you can focus them by software?

You guys should also have a mock Start Light that syncs up with the live Grand Prix one, so you get Lights Out in your studio
