A scene that struck me deeply was when Risotto, after telling the team to "forget all about Sorbet and Gelato", stays till the end of the funeral completely motionless even after everyone has already left. I want to believe that he did that out of pure sentimentality/respect, knowing that after he left the church his former comrades would cease to exist in both the world and in their own minds. Bless DavidPro for that scene.
Osvaldo Langhaus and on top of that, it is through Sorbet and Gelato’s death that they are solely motivated in killing Diavolo (that and monetary gain). I know this was already pointed out but I found that aspect to be amazing. It makes La Squadra look more human than most villains of part 3 and part 4 combined in my opinion
I always described la squadra as "The evil protagonists" Because to be honest, when I was reading the manga I felt like they were just protagonists fighting another group of protagonists and I liked how I felt like they could win at any time and I wouldn't have complained
Most of these members show up for just 2 episodes but they're so memorable. Araki's ability to write unique and interesting characters and flesh them out is impeccable.
I couldn't help but feel sorry for them, especially for Risotto Imagine hearing about your comrades and friends fall one-by-one by the hands of the other team... It's scary for sure but they kept on fighting not as pawns of a larger villian, but for the better of their team
After death of Melone, first thing that came to my mind was pity for Risotto and Ghiaccio. All their friends were dead, and only thing left for them was to try and finish the job. I wonder, whether or not Ghiaccio even believed that he can succeed, given the fact that everyone before him got killed

Dawg La Squadra was ALREADY the best team in Jojo. The Anime just confirmed that they are. If I were to make a Light Novel out of anyone in Jojo it would be the History of La Squadra and their Back Stories and also a deeper insight on the team.
I've always loved how La Squadra de Execuzione felt like a reflection of Bruno's gang. Giorno could have just as easily joined this team rather than Bruno's if things happened differently.
I don’t think Giorno would’ve joined La Squadra with what their current goal was, seeing as IIRC they also wanted to take over the drug trade after they beat the boss.

Risotto seemed like a pretty reasonable dude, and would probably be at least somewhat sympathetic to Giorno's goals and consider some kind of compromise if Giorno proved himself, it is easy to imagine him saying "We're not just going to shut the drug trade down but we'll change the way Passione does business to reduce the harm done and avoid hooking 13 year olds on heroin"). I don't really see Giorno tolerating Melone's presence on a team with him (who probably had Kira-equivalent amounts of noncombatant female victims to his name - one, if not more, for every mission he actively participated in), and probably would've found a way to kill him while evading responsibility for it just like he did with Polpo.
So he mets up with La Squadra, somehow joins, and because he didnt have to go through Polpos test, said Polpo wouldnt die. Therefore Polpo has to look over Trish and considering Bruno is his most trusted person, he would transport Trish to the boss. Aka Gio + La Squadra VS Bucci Gang (Also because polpo never dies the whole treasure arc never happens)
I think one of the best parts of La Squadra is how competent they are. They know what they're doing. They know how to use their stands, and they know their weaknesses. They're real assassins, and they were damn good at their jobs. This is what makes their fights so intense and serious. It's like Prosciutto said: they're killers. Nero's fight against Doppio is probably the best example of this. He shows a level of mastery over his stand that's basically never matched anywhere else in the series. He has an incredible variety of abilities that he knows how to use and use WELL, to brutal efficiency. He's intelligent enough to determine who Doppio actually is, and the fact that Doppio has a short-range melee stand. He was entirely capable of killing Doppio, and if he had won, he probably could've killed all of Bruno's squad as well. I'm almost glad that he didn't actually fight the squad. All he would've had to do was turn invisible and kill or disable Narancia, and then the rest of them are quite literally defenseless, as they have no way to detect or find him.
The fact that they ACTUALLY use their stands PROPERLY is what scares me and amazes me. Part 3 and 4 stand users had little to no strategical tactics, which is why the fights to me in that arc were kinda boring. I'm loving part 5 because it's so damn merciless with their fights
Even if Aerosmith didn't interfere, Crimson still would have won. All Doppio would have to do is allow Diavolo to take over and boom, full effects of King Crimson. Erases time to avoid the effects of his head being blown up by razors. He's behind Risotto and bam he's a donut.
Well Illuso is the exception, he could have killed Fugo but decide to leave him there while a quick neck snap or stab would do. If he killed Fugo he would have survived.
Rissotto is the saddest character of part 5. He cared so much about the gang and then all the members just died one by one. It would be great if David Pro made him look really really angry in his fight (or well, as angry as his emotionless face can be) to show that he's just given up at this point and just wants revenge for his fallen teammates and will not stop at all until he has beaten the boss or died in the process.
I cant wait to see Risotto go to town in retaliation when he finds the Boss! La Squadra wasn't just a villain group; they were a rival villain family, as you put.
The saddest part of La Squadra is that if only they knew Bruno’s gang was going to defect, they could have all worked together to take down the boss. Imagine all 14 of them teaming up against Diavolo.
I Remember before the fight with Doppio there was a page in the manga where Rizotto had a short discription of a backstory. I hope David Pro Animates it.
Amazing job! I think if La Squadra were ever able to defeat the Boss and his Unità Speciale, it relies on their combo potential as a group. They synergize better than any villain group in JoJo

White Album and Greatful Dead can suffocate a room with ice or aging, Metallica is a goddamn monster, Man in the Mirror and Little Feet are amazing for covertness, and if one of them manages to even nick the boss and draw blood, and secure the sample, then we can have a constant string of Baby Face's Juniors to hunt them down from relative safety.
i’m not sure if anyone else pointed this out yet, but there was a scene in the manga where melone arrives to see the aftermath of prosciutto + pesci’s fight, and there’s a close up of his hand shaking slightly and tbh i really think they should have kept that part in the anime bc it showed exactly what u said in this video,,,,,
**cough cough** they shouldve added risotto’s backstory. He has a last name, characters with last names in golden wind are very important to the story, and are the most fleshed out ones. I was honestly surprised that DP didnt add this element into the story, and it would make risotto a much more appreciated character than he already was.
I love how the anime expanded on the group dynamics between La Squadra members. DP has done a phenomenal job with adapting the manga and I will never doubt them again. Imagine if Bruno's team and La Squadra teamed up, perhaps a certain turtle man would have lived. Oceaniz you are one of my top favorite creators on RUclips. Di Molto!

If I were to pair up La Squadra and Team Bruno members based on similarities: Risotto/Bruno: Team leaders that are also conscious and sympathetic to the minds of their members. Ghaccio/Fugo: Second in command and trusted to be incredibly lethal when need be. Also have stands that reflect this. Formaggio/Narancia: Both have great tenacity and are very in touch with their emotions. Prosciutto/Abbachio(?): Both confident in their ability to carry out a mission and focus solely on it Melone/Giorno: Reserved and rely on calculations to both win and make plans. Illuso/Mista: Confident in their ability to win and do whatever it takes to do so. Pesci/Trish: Have to learn what it means to be a part of their teams and become stronger upon learning it.
what makes me a lil bitter is that they just got killed by bruno's gang when in reality they both had the same end goal. they could have banded together to overthrow the boss and giorno would have probably paid them well for their missions afterwards aaah, what could have been.

Man. If only Buciaratti and Risotto sat down and talked for a couple minutes. They could've team up and take down the boss with minimal casualties, instead of fighting each other. Also, I absolutely love how la swuadra's stands actually make sense for a team of elite assassins, instead of being just random quirky superpowers. Illuso's ability is perfect for taking down other stand users, Melone has the perfect stand to track down elusive targets, and can also easily capture them instead of kill them, Formaggio's is perfect for stealing hot property, or covert but still brutal executions that are meant to send a message, Prosciutto's is just what you need when you wanna take out large groups of people at once or take down a target hiding in a crowd, and Risotto's metallica is just outright terrifying Ghiaccho's ability doesn't make all that much sense tho... He's... Good at pursuing escaping targets I guess? They have Melone for that.
You're Wrong Ghiaccio is the brute force. Just in case things do go badly, and that they would need to fight up front. While the stands are all excessively useful, Ghiaccio’s is the only one which would let him stay unharmed, and easily deal with, say a bunch of gangsters firing guns at him.

Diavolo's timeskip does not work to stop him for some vague "fate" reason. 4. GER becomes basically godlike, while Silver Chariot Requiem had a balanced power that did what it had to, but with drawbacks. Sounds like an asspull to me.
I think the only group of enemy stand users on their level are Funny Valentine's hitmen. And even then, they aren't really a cohesive group and are more like a collection of individuals who happen to work for the same guy
Its crazy to think that La squadra came before the genei ryodan from HxH (that I think is the best villain group). Araki is such a visionary, every part of jojo has somo sort of inovation or change in perspective (specially if we remember he was in shonen jump up to beginning of part 7).

@@xord6286 From the second half of Part 3, the great villains for me are, except Dio: N'Doul, D'arby, Pet Shop and Vanilla Ice. Oingo, Boingo and Alessi were a mere joke of a villain, Anubis put one hell of a fight but was too much of a goof for his own good, Mariah was definitely interesting but just didnt have enough charisma to make her stand out, and D'arby Junior was a waste of space. A shame that only a third of the infamious Egypt 9 Glory Gods were actually deserving of the title. Even most of the Tarot users where underwhelming, the only memorable ones being Hol Horse, Steely Dan, both Geil's and Mannish Boy. And considering these are two cowards, a cripple, an old hag and a baby, they arent too much considering minor antagonists from latter parts.

I always knew la squadra was like the dark version of bruno's crew but I find it funny that, basically, after working for the boss and killing these people with whom they could've worked to kill the boss bruno is all like "yeah I'm turning on the boss NOW, not way back when I told giorno we would do that together, not when these traitors with really good stand abilities show up, no, I'm gonna betray the boss NOW" it's no wonder that Diavolo was so confused when bucciarati did it, he probably was like "bucciarati, why did you betray me now? Of all of the better chances you had before you do it now?"

La Squadra's loyalty and bond with eachother reminds me of antagonists like Vanilla Ice, N'Doul and Pucci, who aren' just lackies who follow DIO out of fear, financial gain, or lack of ambition, but because they well and truly feel a strong loyalty to DIO and follow him out of devotion and a need to be useful to him. They're still brutal, ruthless killers, but they're not as one-note as most antagonists in Jojo.
@Makuta S-V part 3 and 5 have set out to accomplish different things. SC is a slow burn road trip with saturday morning cartoon type villains. I always found Oingo and hol horse's incompetence hilarious. They fit the part well. The assaination squad are anomolies and not the norm. They are the most experienced villainous stand users in the series. Having dios newly found scraped together assasins group be as good as la squadra wouldnt make sense.

Araki started with a idea that includes some very serious threats and others that are just your saturday laughable villain (the sun, hol horse, death 13). When araki got to the second half, jojo became really popular, and that's why he didn't changed the style and instead continued with a similar formula.
Rissoto would literally beat 99% of jojo stand users. He would’ve wiped out team buccarati he wasn’t killed for plots sake. Literally sussed out doppio and outclassed him. Araki created a monster and had to kill him cheaply 😒. Rip Nero
The story of fate and cosmic irony resides even in this video . You mention that in order to grow , you must outwit your counterpart ? This even shows in Mettalica’s battle with Doppio. It wasn’t Doppio who killed him but it was Narancia who laid the final nail . That was the piece needed to completely outgrow their counterpart. Not succeeding in killing all of La Squadra themselves could’ve resulted in something drastically different. Diavolo even believes in getting stronger by dealing with what his past self couldn’t, but he ultimately failed twice because both Trish and Polnareff lived . These actions of dealing with an opposite shows who is fated for victory or not . I honestly love your videos because they just uproot my love for this show . The other thing i think David Production could have done, was a scene of the Squadra telling Risotto that they will take care of the kidnaping while he just goes to look for more clues about the boss That would show just how much trust there is between the Squadra and their boss
Another reason why I like Hunter X Hunter. Another amazing villain group with the Phantom Troupe. Reminded me a lot of la squadra. Treated each other like family even though they kill people. Which is actually what makes gon so angry because he can't understand how they can kill so dispassionately and then deeply mourn the death of their friend.
the finale of the Prosciutto and Pesci fight is one of my favorite JoJo anime episodes of all time. (oh and of course Doppio vs Risotto episodes are godlike)
I reckon prosciutto should be 2nd in command cause of his maturity and confidence, also his stand is incredible, but isn’t every stand in la squadra good. And I love his obsession with Pesci’s potential.

Amazing vid! On my first VA read I never cared for La Squadra, but after thinking about them and with all the things the Anime is adding, they are one of the best villain groups out there, just because they very easily could have been our protagonists. The subtlety of their quirks and interactions is so good.
I enjoyed every scene where Squadra was in. I like them so much. They are so badass and cool, and have some pretty cool stands. Golden Wind was an awesome part, I wish I could start over and watch it for the first time.
While I'm not sure if they compare, since I haven't read it in a long time but the dynamics of La Squadra and Bucci Gang remind me of Akame Ga Kill's Night Raid and Jaeger teams.
The only teams of villains who can compete with La Squadra on the writting is the Pillar men, and maybe the sons of Dio from part 6 if DP give them the same treatment as La Squadra
La Squadra is the perfect foil to the escort team, and this--whether with intention or pure coincidence--is further compounded by the visuals. I'm talking about how Risotto and Bucciarati have opposite color palettes: from their hair, skin and clothing, down to their eyes. It's almost as if Araki is telling us that they're the same and different.
The hard part of making a protagonist is balancing him or her characteristics, it's easy for a protagonist to be hated evidence with HBO Velma, while a villain no matter how evil has to be entertaining above all.

I've always loved how La Squadra de Execuzione felt like a reflection of Bruno's gang. Giorno could have just as easily joined this team rather than Bruno's if things happened differently.
I don’t think Giorno would’ve joined La Squadra with what their current goal was, seeing as IIRC they also wanted to take over the drug trade after they beat the boss.

Risotto seemed like a pretty reasonable dude, and would probably be at least somewhat sympathetic to Giorno's goals and consider some kind of compromise if Giorno proved himself, it is easy to imagine him saying "We're not just going to shut the drug trade down but we'll change the way Passione does business to reduce the harm done and avoid hooking 13 year olds on heroin"). I don't really see Giorno tolerating Melone's presence on a team with him (who probably had Kira-equivalent amounts of noncombatant female victims to his name - one, if not more, for every mission he actively participated in), and probably would've found a way to kill him while evading responsibility for it just like he did with Polpo.
So he mets up with La Squadra, somehow joins, and because he didnt have to go through Polpos test, said Polpo wouldnt die. Therefore Polpo has to look over Trish and considering Bruno is his most trusted person, he would transport Trish to the boss.
Aka Gio + La Squadra VS Bucci Gang
(Also because polpo never dies the whole treasure arc never happens)
I think one of the best parts of La Squadra is how competent they are. They know what they're doing. They know how to use their stands, and they know their weaknesses. They're real assassins, and they were damn good at their jobs. This is what makes their fights so intense and serious. It's like Prosciutto said: they're killers. Nero's fight against Doppio is probably the best example of this. He shows a level of mastery over his stand that's basically never matched anywhere else in the series. He has an incredible variety of abilities that he knows how to use and use WELL, to brutal efficiency. He's intelligent enough to determine who Doppio actually is, and the fact that Doppio has a short-range melee stand. He was entirely capable of killing Doppio, and if he had won, he probably could've killed all of Bruno's squad as well.
I'm almost glad that he didn't actually fight the squad. All he would've had to do was turn invisible and kill or disable Narancia, and then the rest of them are quite literally defenseless, as they have no way to detect or find him.
FlavorTown Risotto and Ghiaccio are some fucking monsters. I think they could Vanilla Ice’d the crusaders easily (And greatly injure jotaro).
The fact that they ACTUALLY use their stands PROPERLY is what scares me and amazes me. Part 3 and 4 stand users had little to no strategical tactics, which is why the fights to me in that arc were kinda boring. I'm loving part 5 because it's so damn merciless with their fights
Even if Aerosmith didn't interfere, Crimson still would have won. All Doppio would have to do is allow Diavolo to take over and boom, full effects of King Crimson. Erases time to avoid the effects of his head being blown up by razors. He's behind Risotto and bam he's a donut.

Well Illuso is the exception, he could have killed Fugo but decide to leave him there while a quick neck snap or stab would do. If he killed Fugo he would have survived.
Rissotto is the saddest character of part 5. He cared so much about the gang and then all the members just died one by one. It would be great if David Pro made him look really really angry in his fight (or well, as angry as his emotionless face can be) to show that he's just given up at this point and just wants revenge for his fallen teammates and will not stop at all until he has beaten the boss or died in the process.

i’m not sure if anyone else pointed this out yet, but there was a scene in the manga where melone arrives to see the aftermath of prosciutto + pesci’s fight, and there’s a close up of his hand shaking slightly and tbh i really think they should have kept that part in the anime bc it showed exactly what u said in this video,,,,,
**cough cough** they shouldve added risotto’s backstory. He has a last name, characters with last names in golden wind are very important to the story, and are the most fleshed out ones. I was honestly surprised that DP didnt add this element into the story, and it would make risotto a much more appreciated character than he already was.
I love how the anime expanded on the group dynamics between La Squadra members. DP has done a phenomenal job with adapting the manga and I will never doubt them again. Imagine if Bruno's team and La Squadra teamed up, perhaps a certain turtle man would have lived.

If I were to pair up La Squadra and Team Bruno members based on similarities:
Risotto/Bruno: Team leaders that are also conscious and sympathetic to the minds of their members.
Ghaccio/Fugo: Second in command and trusted to be incredibly lethal when need be. Also have stands that reflect this.
Formaggio/Narancia: Both have great tenacity and are very in touch with their emotions.
Prosciutto/Abbachio(?): Both confident in their ability to carry out a mission and focus solely on it
Melone/Giorno: Reserved and rely on calculations to both win and make plans.
Illuso/Mista: Confident in their ability to win and do whatever it takes to do so.
Pesci/Trish: Have to learn what it means to be a part of their teams and become stronger upon learning it.
what makes me a lil bitter is that they just got killed by bruno's gang when in reality they both had the same end goal. they could have banded together to overthrow the boss and giorno would have probably paid them well for their missions afterwards

Man. If only Buciaratti and Risotto sat down and talked for a couple minutes. They could've team up and take down the boss with minimal casualties, instead of fighting each other.
Also, I absolutely love how la swuadra's stands actually make sense for a team of elite assassins, instead of being just random quirky superpowers. Illuso's ability is perfect for taking down other stand users, Melone has the perfect stand to track down elusive targets, and can also easily capture them instead of kill them, Formaggio's is perfect for stealing hot property, or covert but still brutal executions that are meant to send a message, Prosciutto's is just what you need when you wanna take out large groups of people at once or take down a target hiding in a crowd, and Risotto's metallica is just outright terrifying
Ghiaccho's ability doesn't make all that much sense tho... He's... Good at pursuing escaping targets I guess? They have Melone for that.
You're Wrong Ghiaccio is the brute force. Just in case things do go badly, and that they would need to fight up front. While the stands are all excessively useful, Ghiaccio’s is the only one which would let him stay unharmed, and easily deal with, say a bunch of gangsters firing guns at him.

@@xord6286 From the second half of Part 3, the great villains for me are, except Dio: N'Doul, D'arby, Pet Shop and Vanilla Ice. Oingo, Boingo and Alessi were a mere joke of a villain, Anubis put one hell of a fight but was too much of a goof for his own good, Mariah was definitely interesting but just didnt have enough charisma to make her stand out, and D'arby Junior was a waste of space.
A shame that only a third of the infamious Egypt 9 Glory Gods were actually deserving of the title.
Even most of the Tarot users where underwhelming, the only memorable ones being Hol Horse, Steely Dan, both Geil's and Mannish Boy. And considering these are two cowards, a cripple, an old hag and a baby, they arent too much considering minor antagonists from latter parts.

I always knew la squadra was like the dark version of bruno's crew but I find it funny that, basically, after working for the boss and killing these people with whom they could've worked to kill the boss bruno is all like "yeah I'm turning on the boss NOW, not way back when I told giorno we would do that together, not when these traitors with really good stand abilities show up, no, I'm gonna betray the boss NOW" it's no wonder that Diavolo was so confused when bucciarati did it, he probably was like "bucciarati, why did you betray me now? Of all of the better chances you had before you do it now?"

That is indeed the name they are given in the manga but its wrong. The correct italian term would be "La Squadra d'Esecuzione" so I decided to stick with that since it sounded better for my italian ass lmao

La Squadra's loyalty and bond with eachother reminds me of antagonists like Vanilla Ice, N'Doul and Pucci, who aren' just lackies who follow DIO out of fear, financial gain, or lack of ambition, but because they well and truly feel a strong loyalty to DIO and follow him out of devotion and a need to be useful to him. They're still brutal, ruthless killers, but they're not as one-note as most antagonists in Jojo.
and this is just another reason why part 5 is a better version of part 3. the minor villains.
@Makuta S-V part 3 and 5 have set out to accomplish different things. SC is a slow burn road trip with saturday morning cartoon type villains. I always found Oingo and hol horse's incompetence hilarious. They fit the part well. The assaination squad are anomolies and not the norm. They are the most experienced villainous stand users in the series. Having dios newly found scraped together assasins group be as good as la squadra wouldnt make sense.

@Makuta S-V I only want to say something, befores SC, DIO wasn't iconic yet, even jojo wasn't that popular. Araki started with a idea that includes some very serious threats and others that are just your saturday laughable villain (the sun, hol horse, death 13). When araki got to the second half, jojo became really popular, and that's why he didn't changed the style and instead continued with a similar formula.
this is why i was really annoyed at how Eyes of Heaven included so many part 3 minions but no part 5 baddies.
The anime Part 3 bias is probably why the mini baddies are here. I expect Abbacchio and Squadra love with Part 5 animated

The story of fate and cosmic irony resides even in this video . You mention that in order to grow , you must outwit your counterpart ? This even shows in Mettalica’s battle with Doppio. It wasn’t Doppio who killed him but it was Narancia who laid the final nail . That was the piece needed to completely outgrow their counterpart. Not succeeding in killing all of La Squadra themselves could’ve resulted in something drastically different. Diavolo even believes in getting stronger by dealing with what his past self couldn’t, but he ultimately failed twice because both Trish and Polnareff lived . These actions of dealing with an opposite shows who is fated for victory or not . I honestly love your videos because they just uproot my love for this show . I’ve never really thought too deep about these characters until I’ve stumbled across your channel ! Thanks @Oceaniz

Another reason why I like Hunter X Hunter. Another amazing villain group with the Phantom Troupe. Reminded me a lot of la squadra. Treated each other like family even though they kill people. Which is actually what makes gon so angry because he can't understand how they can kill so dispassionately and then deeply mourn the death of their friend.
Phantom troupe and la squadra are tied for me
the finale of the Prosciutto and Pesci fight is one of my favorite JoJo anime episodes of all time.
(oh and of course Doppio vs Risotto episodes are godlike)
I reckon prosciutto should be 2nd in command cause of his maturity and confidence, also his stand is incredible, but isn’t every stand in la squadra good. And I love his obsession with Pesci’s potential.

Also, I love the fact that you pointed out how similar La Squadra is to Bruno’s gang. I swear, good villains can just be the protagonists but from a very different angle.

I definitely wouldn't put the phantom troupe below the sins, and I prefer them to la squadra but I can see why you'd put them there

Amazing vid! On my first VA read I never cared for La Squadra, but after thinking about them and with all the things the Anime is adding, they are one of the best villain groups out there, just because they very easily could have been our protagonists. The subtlety of their quirks and interactions is so good.
Also they are very shippable

I enjoyed every scene where Squadra was in. I like them so much. They are so badass and cool, and have some pretty cool stands. Golden Wind was an awesome part, I wish I could start over and watch it for the first time.
While I'm not sure if they compare, since I haven't read it in a long time but the dynamics of La Squadra and Bucci Gang remind me of Akame Ga Kill's Night Raid and Jaeger teams.

The only teams of villains who can compete with La Squadra on the writting is the Pillar men, and maybe the sons of Dio from part 6 if DP give them the same treatment as La Squadra

La Squadra is the perfect foil to the escort team, and this--whether with intention or pure coincidence--is further compounded by the visuals. I'm talking about how Risotto and Bucciarati have opposite color palettes: from their hair, skin and clothing, down to their eyes. It's almost as if Araki is telling us that they're the same and different.

The hard part of making a protagonist is balancing him or her characteristics, it's easy for a protagonist to be hated evidence with HBO Velma, while a villain no matter how evil has to be entertaining above all.
