I think Diavolo isn't actually the Devil, but is a metaphor for the Devil. Kinda like how Giorno isn't really Jesus, but is a Jesus like figure, being the son of Dio, which is literally God in Italian.
exept for part 7 where we see jesus so for diavolo to be a demon is possiable
Crimes For Dimes I don’t really think EOH is canon. Still, that doesn’t mean Diavolo isn’t a demon controlling Doppio. Though I personally think King Crimson is the one controlling Doppio, because he’s a sentient Stand
Dusk Figure that’s also what I think , he’s just call himself devil , but not literally the devil
@@housinengi9512 Also Hermes in the Rohan manga
@unknowning unknown his loyal followers did see him as a godly being, due to his personality and the power to stop time. Even in part 3, there was a scene with Polnareff and DIO, and the way they set it up was Polnareff seeing DIO as a godlike being. I mean, he literally trolled him as well lmao.
Diavolo being the devil is probably the most possible explanation.
Araki described jojo as (very roughly) humanity vs evil. For example, Dio is the antagonist, because he rejected his humanity. So the devil is *clearly* not human and evil.
In part 7 we litteraly see Jesus but I still dont think that Diavolo is litteraly devil
I don't know about him clearly being otherworldly. The multiple personality disorder seems the most likely and reasonable.
@@orkaborg_1738 Yeah, perhaps he is more like a little devil or a demon. I think litteral devil would be much more powerful.
maybe he's just some kind of demon, not satan himself
I think the circumstances of his birth point to him being more than human. Plus non humans in jojo are like.. normal
I love how the character is basically an evil version of the Holy Trinity (whether intentional or not) :
1. The Father ( Diavolo)
2.The Son (Doppio)
3. The Holy Spirit (King Crimson)

The second theory is my favourite. Doppio being possessed by a demon (not litteraly the devil though) has a lot of backing.
A demon can be the devil
It can be a biblical parallel , when Jesus is born , Mary was impregnated by the h spirit , not a man. And if doppio was conceived by the devil/possessed, it could work as a callback
Or you know, he could have been twins that may have fused in their mother's uterus and became one person.
Nathaniel Fong That wouldn’t explain how Doppio goes from a 16 year old to the devil himself
That could be the anwser why Diavolo don't want anyone to know somthing of his past. He don't have any. He just take over Doppio to kill people that are to close to the idee he would be somthing supernatural

Do Stand Science For King Crimson!!!
I think #3 can be explained by the need to protect the identity of the Boss. He speaks through King Crimson so that he doesn't reveal himself to the audience. After he is revealed in Rome, he doesn't use KC to speak, but rather does it for himself.
That's not entirely true. Even after he's revealed, Diavolo still speaks through KC many, many times. Hell, go back and watch his fight with Polnareff, there's plenty of times during that one scene where King Crimson starts speaking instead of Diavolo himself, despite the fact he's JUST revealed himself. In fact, Diavolo isn't even shown on-screen when this happens, it's just KC talking.
And he also ends up losing his body during the Requiem arc and has to talk through KC again.
His soul is still portrayed as King Crimson towards the end, long after his reveal, while the others are simply transparent versions of themselves

Here's my idea,
Diavolo isn't the devil, he's the Antichrist. The Antichrist is prophesied to fight the son of God (giorno) for the fate of the world, which is exactly what Giorno and Diavolo do.
Nero could be the Anti Christ as the emperor Nero Caesar'sname could be valued as 666 using Hebrew Numerology and the fact that Nero used to work for the Boss Diavolo (Devil).
An evil being that possesses and takes over other people's body is totaly possible in the jojoverse when we already have yokais, vampires and aliens.

I personally think Explanation 2 is the true explanation. There is so much symbolism to support this.
With all the points in the video, we can also add into the fact that Dio, which means God in Italian, sends out Giorno, the son of Dio (God) to banish Diavolo (the Devil).
(Light spoilers below)
I don't think this may be entirely relevant, but there's also the symbolism within the stairs that Polnareff had gone through. In Part 3, Polnareff was below the steps before Dio, which is God. In Part 5, We see Polnareff at the top of the stairs with Diavolo at the bottom, which is the Devil. It could be said that Polnareff had ascended to "godhood" or heaven (not the Heaven you know..), but another interpretation I like is that Polnareff never ascended or descended the stairs, but is instead in the same spot. It's just that Dio is still above him and Diavolo is below him, and that he his purpose will always remain the same - to guide someone towards victory, and forever serve, which is the Chariot tarot card that he has been destined with.

I think the actual answer is #3, he is King Crimson.
I'll say why but it's a spoiler for the anime. So you have been warned.
At end when Gold Exp. Requiem appear, it is essentially a mirror of King Crimson if #3 is true. It's a stand that can think on its own, as it informs Diavolo that not even its master, Giorno is aware of it's full power yet, but it considers Giorno a partner, unlike Davolo, who only sees Doppio as an underling. Not to mention the one who beats the boss is essentially not Giorno, but GER.
It's be pretty fitting and poetic, if a sentient stand who stands as a friend was the who defeated an evil stand who throw away it's owner.
So if Diavolo is King Crimson, wouldn’t that mean Diavolo is a society of sentient plankton?

So you finally made that Diavolo you and xforts have been talking about.
I think the third theory fits the best out of the three, thematically. Giorno is the son of DIO (God), and was born under anomalous circumstances like Doppio. However, Giorno's destiny shaped him into the Christ-like figure he would become. Just like how Doppio's dark fate would transform him into a diabolical figure. Both came from weird circumstances, but both in the end were became who they did because of the hands of fate.
So I think three fits the most.
I think option 1 and option 3 are the most likely options. Option 3 is especially interesting to me. We know that Stands can have personalities of their own, and not necessarily one that is always advantageous to the user. Having a Stand having its own agenda is really interesting.
Agreed. Sentient Stands honestly catch my interest the most because they seem less like remote controlled robots and more like superpowered aliens in a Men in Black sort of way. Yo-yo Ma being a good example in that if he was a human instead, there would barely be a difference in his arc besides having the durability and acid spit being HIS OWN Stand.
I believe doppio is the original personality suffers from DID. And diavolo is the split that took over. Its even states in the manga panel before the fight with nero that the " bosses personality comes out when doppios identiy is at risk of being found out".
This video is fascinating
You know, you could say... *B R E A T H T A K I N G*
I thought the second explanation was the weirdest, but the more you talked about it the more I felt LITERAL chills down my spine. Now I'm fucking terrified and love the second theory
Diavolo is ambiguous in more than one way
Dopio’s mother case kinda reminds me of the way Virgin Mary was the one chosen to be Jesus’ mother. Think about it, the mother’s belly grew randomly in less than a day, in the case of Virgin Mary, she conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit while still a virgin.
Both cases are bizarre IMO
I’m pretty sure it’s “explanation 1”, but hey, we will never know, that’s the beauty of Diavolo, the mistery. Keep up the good work! :) I like how you explained all the theories and not just the one that you believe the most.
I'd love to believe that, it's the most logical thing. But [spoiler for part 5 ending] doppio literally dies because he has no body to enter after chariot requiem awakens, making doppio a second soul, not personality
ITechno Gaming if souls exists in the real world, I think a person with multiple personalities would have multiple souls, since a soul is someone that can think and have a consciousness, and each personality have a different consciousness, so each personality have a different soul obviusly.
@@Deviiss I thought he died because he was literally in a corpse.
@@Cloverfr yeah, you are right

I have a theory that his stand is so powerful that it became it’s own personality and can control the body. That shows why doppio sees king crimson when talking on the plane
He is my beloved manly Goth Queen
I honestly just prefer the idea that Diavolo and Doppio are just two separate souls.
That would mean that one of them would get lost by silver chariot requiem when he swapped everyone
I have a possible explanation for Doppio/Diavolo - instead of it being Demonic Posession, what if it was a Pillar Man invading his mother's body? We've seen they can slip into VERY tight spaces and even wear people like skinsuits. Both Santana and ACDC are shown to do this. It's even possible the Pillar Man slipped inside of Doppio's mother's womb and formed a fleshy human body around it from her own cells. Effectively impregnating her with itself, the human skinsuit effectively being born as Doppio and Diavolo being the Pillar Man's chosen name. We even see ACDC take control of Suzie Q and speak in his voice when doing so, and that's when he's just a brain.
I'll take explanation 3. The idea of an evil Stand that's so sentient it can accurately be a human real is interesting.
*sees title*
Dave Bautista: “I’ll do you one better why is diavolo”
Honestly explanation 2 has been my go to even before the anime. Diavolo's unnatural birth both reminds me of a virgin Mary situation and horror movies like the omen. Plus the fact that he and Doppio have separate souls to the point that they can exist in different bodies. That's definetly something more than a mere personality disorder.
I think it's a mix of the 3...
Doppio had darkness in him since his born, which can be the devil. Once he got the Stand Arrow & received a stand, the stand actually got to be the Devil's, who had no actual body to use.
#3 would very cool and have a lot of potencial, but Diavolo talking mostly with KC could be simply explained by his secretive personality and the fact that Doppio probably dont know much more on Diavolo than the main cast but seems to be familiar with King Crimson. #2 Is the best explanation, not only because it explain his birth, but because it reinforce the duality with DIO (a topic that nobody discuss a lot by the way): both would be supernatural beings in a human's body gathering a lot of human minions for their own profit, being close to only one person (Doppio/Pucci), and having for ultimate goal to transform humanity, DIO want it to achieve heaven, and Diavolo (this is my own theory about King Crimson Requiem) want it to lost foresight ability, and so fall into a sort of "hell"
I was waiting for this video from the moment you talked about it in Gucci Cast
B.B.A. for Custom beys and mods SAME BRO
I'm still onto explanation one. I think Diavolo is a split personality that after living in Doppio's body for a while he gained an identity and a soul of its own, similarly to Foo Fighters in part 6. Not to mention with how many psychological problems he has (Diavolo is paranoid and Doppio is schizophrenic and bipolar) has, also having multiple personalities is not surprising at all.
Isn't that what Jean Pierre Polnareff stated in the manga cuz if I remember correctly he said that the split personality has a soul and grows on its own making it slightly older than the original but I might be talking about something else
I think Araki was going for basically a fusion of #1 and #3, with Doppio having DPD, and after gaining his stand, his alternate personality manifesting as King Crimson. The idea was to have it parallel religious iconography, what with "Diavolo" and Giorno being the son of "Dio". But DP wanted to more heavily lean into #2, because they convey the story from a slightly different perspective, due to the change in medium.
My theory is that king crimson was originally the stand of doppio's father, which was a post mortum stand that would possess the next person in the bloodline. Doppio developed eulogy, which fused with the much stronger king crimson to create the time erasure. That's why trish got possessed by diavolo when doppio died and why diavolo talks to doppio like a child.
Maybe the father of Doppio is the Devil.
Diavolo is the devil, as his name implies
It's a type of sauce. No wonder he's so saucy
Honestly, the Anime made Diavolo one of my favourites
Not for me, but after reading all of manga parts I had him as the least favourite main villains, now he is 3rd-4th. Still hate his design (its even worse in the anime) and prefer other villains so much more (Dio, Kira).
Also, in support of theory #2, the noises when Doppio's eyes shift are really interesting. Some unholy screeching and raspy noises. Just something I thought might support the theory, especially since we've never heard something like that before in JoJo... Completely unique to Diavolo.
Ah, I love Diavolo so much, It's really interesting to see so many different concepts about his character, all the explanations make sense and I really enjoyed hearing them. Even if there's no definitive anwser to who or what Diavolo is, it's still very fun to talk about it.But as for the third explanation, the thing with Diavolo using King Crimson to talk is mostly functional, becase as Shadow Diavolo, King Crimson was used for the readers/viewers to see Diavolo's emotions and expressions, because we can't really see them the pitch black face. And as his soul in Chariot Reqiuem is presented as King Crimson, it might be simply used just to show us, that there's Diavolo, because he can't really use his body or any other, if we saw two Diavolo's I think it would've been confusing for the readers to distinct Diavolo and Bucciarati in Diavolo's body. And then, probably we would've seen King Crimson in the infinite death loop, because it probably wasn't Diavolo's physical body, as he would teleporting all over the world, and as GER can manipulate souls, it's pretty much for sure just Diavolo's soul suffering.
And Im not sure when you said "Fly High" if you meant Super Fly or Sky High
Since when can GER control souls?
I think the ability of the Reqiuem Arrow is to have control over souls
Technically Giorno did put Diavolo in hell after killing him
[Spoil Crackpot theory]
What if stands are just spirits like devils and the other beings that get transferred by silver chariot are angles

21st Century Schizoid Man playing while you talk about Diavolo is the best
I predicted the time when you upload so I comment early! (Now with proofreading)
Do you have Epitaph?
I don’t know.
my personal theory is that the identity of diavolo is somewhat linked to the concept of the arrow. what made me think of this is the pattern in his eyes, with a triangle "piercing" the center of the eye.
so i had this thought that what the arrow does essentially is create a second being out of your original self - as you said, pleasant or not. it's even made very clear when you see that a requiem stand becomes a being of it's own, independant.
i think the different leads presented in the show all point to something we could maybe agree on, and it is that diavolo is a supernatural being - his birth, the pattern in his eyes, his phenomenal presence and aura, etc.
so my theory is that in terms of writing diavolo was written like "what if we applied the concept of the arrow to a human who was born that way". i see doppio as the "original" being who's being parasyted/posessed by this entity which awoke in him - demon like in the second possibility of the video, maybe some kind of alien like we got in part 4, or even some ancient energies linked to the pillar men and/or the arrow ; or maybe even a bit of all of this.
the cool part is it's compatible with the theories depicted in your video, since in fact diavolo could also be the physical manifestation of king crimson, and that maybe doppio was born with them both, as the son of a human mother and a demonic creature like the pillar men, who we can link to the arrow and the "ancient civilizations and ancient evils" theme running through the whole series.
Technically Dio Brando didn’t get a power up before the final fight in Phantom Blood
He got a jar.
Also bullshit liquid laser eyes.
He got a power up at the beggining of Part 1
I feel as if each continuity of manga and anime could have different interpretations to them. The manga would still have more ties to explanation #1 and the anime would have more ties to explanation #2.
To me Diavolo is just the "real" Doppio.
When Doppio grew too paranoid and ambitious, he split his personality to protect his growth as Diavolo.
"But there's two souls" well this is JoJo's and the line between soul and personality is pretty thin.
Also with Araki drawing all the antagonists, Doppio was the only one present from the two, so to me that just shows that there's actually no difference between the two.
It's just our Doppio.
I was considering making a D&D villain based on Doppio/Diavolo, and your second theory is a perfect inspiration.
diavolo is a separate personality which in jjba means he has a different soul which grew to be stronger than doppio,so that's why theres 2 stands
Explanation 3 hits what I believe is what could have been said about not only diavolo's power level (kinda but just behind ger), but whether it was in his bloodline (from his mama). Say this: diavolo's mom had a stand. stands can be weird. they can hurt you like jotaro's mom. this could have been just that. the baby was pretty red too. so what's not to say that the baby was born at once through the mom's stand. what's to say that diavolo's dad is his mom's stand. diavolo would be essentially half stand half human. his green eyes were like king crimson's. king crimson's mini forehead face looked like the baby. and for a stand user to be half stand, that's like some anakin skywalker power level. basically like anakin's birth scenario. yet that only explains who diavolo's dad is. split personality wise, seems like the half stand half human could have created that split personality cause they just don't mix into one, stands and humans are separate, thinking for themselves yet working together. so from that split personality, the stand manifested in the image of diavolo. diavolo spoke to king crimson as a separate being, not in the first person so for that, i'm convinced diavolo is his own personality and how he was born is the reason why he has the big baller power level
Of course, now the question becomes; is the anime now MORE canon than the manga?
Just having to ask that question says just how much David Productions are putting into this cartoon
(I still like explanation 1 the best though, because it explains Epitaph better)
Mr Freddo Renton I personally think that epitaph is a substand of king crimson just like shear heart attack is to killer queen. The reason diavolo quote on quote lent epitaph to Doppio is because the stand is Doppio’s and diavolo’s but Doppio doesn’t have the will to manifest it on his own.
@@danieltheking2600 The thing is, Sheer Heart Attack is poorly explained in it's own right. Multiple personality disorder is at least a way to explain 2 different (if linked) abilities. I accept Bites the Dust because of how it came to be, but Sheer Heart Attack is literally a stand in it's own right, and there isn't a good explanation of why it's attached to Killer Queen other than "they're both bombs"
@@mrfreddorenton It never seemed weird to me, Kira needed that ability if his victims fled, it doesn't have to be explained.
@@mrfreddorenton Killer Queens ability is to plant bombs. SHA is just another bomb. There a few different ones we see, like the remote bombs and the contact bombs. if the anime is canon they did my spinoff novels dirty
Love how The Court of Crimson King instrumental is playing in the background
I think Diavolo is his own father, and Doppio the actual child. I really don't know about how the "Vinegar Doppio" persona plays out in the real world, but we do know he was known as "Diavolo" in the village records themselves.
All explanations are interesting and reasonable. Before anime I too thought the 1st version was the right one, but now I prefer 3rd explanation. I though it qas just Dioavolo's quirk that he mostle expresses himself through his stand. But I like the idea that the stand can not only harm the user (like Cheap Trick) but even overtake his whole body and mind.
Thanks for your video, it was gureto!
Being completely honest, I believe it is all three.
The symbolism and the way reality bends within part 5 makes for a great number of abstract concepts, the biggest one being the duality between Giorno and Diavolo, understanding the mind of Araki in this part of Jojo is the hardest and sometimes the themes even get blurry.
My idea is that Araki wanted to express darkness in its purest form, where it has no name or origin, avoiding the past and living within itself to the end of time, consuming all that is in front of it.
Diavolo was represented with the image of anger and merciless strenght, while Doppio is the image of sentimentalism, innocence and sometimes loneliness, bonded only by the pain and rejection of the past. Thinking about the religious symbolism it all comes clear that Giorno, being the rightful avenger and creator of life, defeats not only the terrible evil of the devil, but also the resentment and pain within Doppio, freeing him from the suffering of he's own life.
King Crimson and Epitaph might be the biggest symbols here, showing us not only the mind state of Doppio and Diavolo, but also the themes that Araki worked to represent.
King Crimson being a band of abstract art, and Epitaph being posibly their darkest and saddest song.
King Crimson being both the Devil and Diavolo, and Epitaph being fear, innocence, loneliness, pain, ignorance, necessity, and Doppio at the mercy of he's own mind.
Based on manga, anime and secondary material, personally I believe that Diavolo is a bit of everything from the 3 theories mentioned in this video.
Given how we have no info about his father, and the unnatural circomstances of his birth and pregnancy, it's possible his mother was impregnated by either a Yokai or a creature we cannot comprehend (similar to that one child from Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan) , leading to a birth of a child with unnatural powers and tendencies.
Once Doppio grew up and shit hit the fan (meeting his mother and experiencing a mental breakdown) his demonic side manifested itself, but due to Doppio's kind and timid nature, he couldn't comprehend and accept it, thus it formed into a seperate, more agressive, demonic, but also caring and protective side; Diavolo.
After being pierced by the arrow, the stands that were to be formed were influenced by unnatural powers of Diavolo, thus creating KC, one that Diavolo can impersonate and manifest as, brutal combat oriented stand, which's power still shows the need to protect itself.
Doppio meanwhile recieved a pacifistic stand designed to help him on his daily basis, future-foretelling stand Epitath.
Legend says Diavolo was born with an N word pass

Nigga
shit he can say "nigerundayo"?
have you ever thought about diavolo being like a "parasite" personality more than a split personality? i'll only say to check what happened when scr swapped everyone's souls
(spoiler ahead)
also notice that when doppio died, diavolo hasn't
My personal theory is that Diavolo has had his stand since before he was even born. The reason his mother suddenly got very pregnant was that Diavolo, while still in her womb, used King Crimson to "erase" his own time, leading him to either revert to being a fetus, or simply ceasing to exist for a time. When King Crimson's power finally released, Diavolo reappeared in her womb, leading to the sudden pregnancy and labor.
As for Doppio, Doppio is simply what happens when Diavolo "erases" his own time to hide. It reverts him back to how he was before he became aware of his stand.
You can also see this when Diavolo disguises himself as a child right before killing Abbacchio.
It is all just an application of King Crimson's ability to erase time.
I love how epitaph is playing in the background the whole time.
I used to think that he just suffered from dissociative identity disorder (with the drastic physical changes just due to araki being araki), but after the anime adaptation, I thought that maybe Doppio/diavolo was born with two souls to begin with, hence the baby’s different eye colours. And that diavolo just happened to be the “dominant” soul that has more control over the body? I still can’t really explain the “She wasn’t this big this morning” though.
my take on it is that both 1 and 3 are true. we know that people with DID tend to manifest a more forward, aggressive personality while being more meek in their original state- doppio and diavolo’s dynamic lines up well with a textbook case of DID with some araki exaggeration. we know that personality splits generally occur in the developmental years and that doppio had fully manifested diavolo by his teenage years. we also know that his daughter, trish, starts naturally developing her own stand at age 15, so it’s plausible that this is around when doppio did the same. however, diavolo serves not just as doppio’s split personality, but also his stand. after all, stands are the user’s fighting spirit and both consciously and subconsciously protect the user- much like how a split personality tends to “protect” the person afflicted with DID. in the jojoverse, it seems totally plausible to me that those with stand potential who develop DID would have their secondary personality BE their stand because of this. diavolo being king crimson also makes a lot of sense because this is how his soul and identity are consistently represented and also because of a small but important detail thats consistent between the manga and anime- diavolo’s eyes. they have the exact same design as king crimson’s- no pupils, an almost “fractured” look, and a triangle that mirrors whatever direction he’s facing. this being a hint toward diavolo being king crimson is compounded by the fact that when bruno occupies diavolo’s body, his eyes suddenly become perfectly normal in shape and design. also, the “crimson king” was originally an epithet for the devil... or, il diavolo. because of all this, i believe that diavolo is a combination of a stand and doppio’s DID manifesting simultaneously and therefore being “combined”
Diavolo is the
And that’s why he’s the best villain
Great video, been waiting for this since you mentioned it on Gucci cast
What is Diavolo?
A miserable little pile of secrets!
I believe that Doppio developed MPD early on, but after his darker personality stabbed itself with King Crimson, it caused such a division within that changed the split personalities; turning the darker personality into its own whole identity which was dominant over Doppio. This is why King Crimson is the dominant whole of the stand - whereas Epitaph is just a small face within King Crimson.
I think Doppio's birth is more symbolic rather than literal. Diavolo was also there before he got King Crimson which was shown by what happened in his own past.
Diavolo being possessed by a devil is a good explanation if you consider vampires, zombies and the pillar men existing in Jojo‘s. Maybe it’s even a mixture out of both explanations and King Crimson is literally the devil
*EPISODE 36 SPOILER ALERT*
Episode 36 literally confirmed theory 3, and adds some relation to theory 2. Diavolo is indeed King Crimson, and King Crimson is a demon who possesed a boy (Doppio). It answered so many questions!
The third theory seems really cool. We've been told that personalities manifest into stands so it will be pretty cool to see one exception where it's a rouge stand manifesting a personality.
JoJo started with two brothers fighting over inheritance, and now we’re watching the son of god fight a male stripper with dissociative identity disorder.
I personally think that doppio’s stand is epitaph and because his separate personality is so strong it gained its own stand (aka king crimson) and when doppio transforms into diavolo I think that is both of the personalities merging to create a separate being (with their stands merging aswell). As for the explanation as to why ‘separate personality’ told doppio that he has given him part of is power and so on, well I think that ‘separate personality’ constantly lies to doppio in order to secure his superiority or just because he knows doppio won’t be able to understand. And also as for the explanation as to why doppio picks up random objects as phones, well I think this is the only way the two personalities can converse with each other because doppio is too dim witted to realise that he actually has two personalities. For doppio he thinks he is just speaking to his boss when in actual fact he’s speaking to his evil self.
*Video:* What is Diavol-
*Me:* Hot
I really like the idea of #3. Like REALLY REALLY. It's so interesting to think of a stand going so rogue as to take over someone's life entirely.
Me: "The devil? Come one, you can't be serious. I mean, Araki's always flirted with religious symbols, but he'd never actually-"
*Remembers Part 7*
*Sweat*
I love how you have 21st Century Schizoid Man and Epitath playing in the background, they finally put their entire catalog on spotify
Everybody asks "What is Diavolo?" Not "How is Diavolo?"
Not good
Infinitely dying.
This is why we dont ask how is diavolo
I do find the idea of the devil himself finding Cioccolata "disgusting and deplorable," kinda funny.
Explanation Two makes Diavolo contrast with DIO well. DIO was a....bad man to put it mildly; convinced that he's inherently evil by Speedwagon and that he should be a Devilish vampiric evil overlord who commands vast followers and rule with lucid cruelty as it is expected of him. However, he's not a true demon as he later demonstrates a capacity to have a friendship with Pucci and spares women that later bare him heirs for whatever reason- not the actions expectant of someone who prefers to run over pedestrians on sidewalks and make mothers eat their own babies. And his Stand is strangely godlike and heroic looking for someone who is admittedly vile and insane. DIO in spite of his rightful claims of being inhuman, is in fact not a demon. And he has a long term goal to achieve "Heaven" or a peace of mind for himself and his followers.
Diavolo on the other hand, seems to an actual demon trying and failing at being a human that runs the most powerful mafia gang in Italy. He is surprisingly short-sighted and impulse due to his extreme paranoia overriding pragmatic and common sense; prefers to be isolated to the point of being an unfathomable force of evil- the fact that he has a daughter that could be used a humanizing weakness to be used against him- drive Diavolo to kill her himself to resume his enigmatic persona as an untouchable force that corrupts the populace of Italy through his drugs and has no connections that aren't based on self-preservations to keep them alive- such as his "host" Doppio. He attempts to justify his actions as necessary evils to be the chosen one that decides the fate of others, but he's actually an inhuman force- a devil that distorts the natural world through direct- his Stand that alters time in an unorthodox manner to avoid the natural flow of fate and indirectly- his discovery of the Stand arrows lead to the rise of the majority of Stand users and all of his actions derive from a self-preservation paranoia that verges on animalistic or inhuman primal urges. His Stand is an unnatural being- a dual faced humanoid that technically consists of two Stands- King Crimson and Epitaph; is unusually emotive for a Stand- to the point that it personifies the person more than the actual user more often than not, and is a towering monster that prefers decisive death blows than the barrages of punches of the major characters- which further dehumanizes him. All of his actions personify the Devil's actual nature- a shadowy force that convinces the world that it doesn't exist and can/will erase you if you get too close to the truth.
