Martin Luther, inn his commentary on Galatians, with his great ability to think “the opposite” or critically , on David’s massive sins , “the people have to take responsibility , as they had set him up to to be struck down … for when God says , “i will share my Glory with no man” David had unknowingly broken God’s law… as his idols kept pushing david higher and higher. The answer? Evangelicals perhaps should test the media outlets , and perhaps approve 5 year limits…for heading the megas’ meganous, never allow any nepotism …are there mega churches not built On the charisma of the pastor? Are all megas then marked by God to learn the lesson “ i will share my glory with no man?” No more billy grahams where he speaks as a pope, costing us HIS Gospel presentation, where “and invite him into your heart” or the 4 steps of bill😅 bright!! We think the Gospel is too simple. 1) we are separated by our sin 2) Christ , by his atoning sacrifice 3 ) has made us right with God!! By trusting in him and His sacrifice we are seen as acceptable with God. All is well if you trust christ , just as abram trusted this We cannot be with God in our condition! I

    • @sarvomar1
      @sarvomar1 16 дней назад

@@NB-nh2sf Actually the exact opposite of what you are saying is how Paul tells the church to act/ react. Here is some extremely relevant teaching on how to handle sin regarding sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 5, the apostle Paul speaks of a believer who had been sexually immoral, apparently with his stepmother. Rather than condemning the act, the Corinthian Christians had tolerated the behavior. Paul taught they should remove this person from their church family (1 Corinthians 5:3). Later, in 2 Corinthians, this same person had turned from this lifestyle, and Paul advised the Corinthian believers to accept him again. The goal of discipline is not to be mean or cold-hearted but to condemn sinful behavior and issue a call to change. In 2 Corinthians 2:8, Paul writes, “I beg you to reaffirm your love for him” (ESV).
Christians are called to handle disputes in love, with a goal of restoration. Conflict should be handled according to the steps listed in Matthew 18. This style of conflict resolution is based on a desire for holy living and love for the person who has committed wrong.

Actually it's till 48th birthday of a abused minor regardless of type of abuse here in Texas, it's till age 45 in OK. BUT her dad was on the hook himself for failure to report until last year (35 yrs after last knowledge, when she was 19), if she brought charges against PRM, her dad and anyone at Shady Oaks would also be charged for FTR. He definitely was one, a monster, definitely... but when does he get to turn to God for forgiveness, and become what God intended? Are YOU your worst act or thought? I would hope you aren't. I don't have any daughters, so I apologize that I cannot directly sympathize with you, Elder Tra has 7 children, 6 are daughters, he delivered the Board of Elders message live last Saturday at 4pm, I was there in 2nd row. I imagine you feel very similar to Tra, and for that my heart breaks for you, but this happened 42 to 37 yrs ago, and by God I would hope I'm not the same person I was just 5 yrs ago, let alone who I was at ages 21-25?! I'm NOT diminishing the crime, it happened! But I also feel that that crime led to all of his books and ministry ever since. He must've know that someday this would come to light, but I believe God used these last 35 yrs for HIS glory, and it's HIS glory we should never forget. God uses the worst failures of people throughout the Bible for HIS Good works, how is this different? Maybe it feels more personal?! BUT going there 13 years now, I've had but maybe 20 words with him. I've had quite a bit more interaction with Mark Job, Kari Job's father. THINK of all the good that God has brought about in spite of a very sinful man in his early 20s?! Please don't throw out the baby with the bath water, it's Jesus we worship, not a pastor, not even a building?!

@@ThePossumone that may well be true, but I have multiple family members that have worked for him last 10 yrs, and my father-in-law is a Pastor, as is my sister-in-law's father-in-law. And the protections in place around him is 2nd to possibly only POTUS. But the biggest point is that so many assume it was his chosen words and not Shady Oak's Attorney, her Dad, Debbie or a combination of the above, or it could all be his. But I refuse to assume the worst in anyone first. Especially with all these years gone by. The only logical reason is CC was protecting her own dad from complacency for allowing his 2 years removal from ministry to get church treatment, but legally both her and her dad would be required to give signatory approval of his return to ministry. It doesn't work any other way. If Shady Grove didn't get their sign off, they'd be setting themselves up to be sued into oblivion. Again, I wasn't there, nor were ANYONE else in these comments. Was it a crime? It should have been but it wasn't. Was it Criminal? 100%. Was it predatory? Absolutely. Does that make EVERYTHING he's done since, false? No. In fact quite the opposite, according to the Bible I read, the biggest heroes of faith were treacherous and failed men, adulterous and murderous. The bigger the failure, the more God used them. David was a peeping tom first, used his position of power to bring Bathsheba up to "his room" were he had his way?! How old was she? He made her pregnant so he called back one of his 30 Mighty Men, Urriah to cover it up, but he was too righteous to sleep in his own home or with his own wife. So David sent his own murderous order of execution by Urriah's own hand, to his untimely murder.... then David took Bathsheba for yet another wife. Yet AFTER this, God called king David, "A man after my own heart!" Wait, WHAT??? Not only that, God punished Israel for 3 days for his sins! God took his first born son of her after 7 days, BUT then Blessed king David to be possibly the 2nd richest man to EVER live, AND blessed these two's 2nd son, Solomon... more than ANY OTHER person, EVER! THEN, Jesus allowed Himself to be called, "Son of David?!" So if I use that Biblical reference of forgiveness and redemption and used of God, why can't God have used Robert Morris after an awful sinful life??? I don't EVER believe God's arm is too short to redeem ANYONE regardless! Peter denied Jesus Christ 3 times in His presence! Now THAT'S the worst sin I can imagine told us in the Bible?! Jesus had compassion on him! Samson murdered 1,000 Philistine's because he was angry. Then God allowed self-sacrifice to kill well over 3,500 more. Saul condoned Stephen's stoning and imprisoned and persecuted Christians, and on his way to do even worse when God stopped him in his tracks. So I'm sorry for all the flack I'm going to get for this, but let's be real, it was 37 years ago that it stopped! To think that God hadn't used him during all of these decades is insane. Yes, what he did as a young 20s year old is inexcusable, BUT Shady Grove and her dad DID excuse it. No matter what they say they said or did now, doesn't change the reality of what had to happen! Her dad was a pastor, although RM was simply a young traveling evangelist. If there were a mistake, it was allowing a man at such a young age become an evangelist BEFORE he was even saved, his words not mine! Room 12 Jake's Motel is where and when he got saved. He was married before he got saved! I know drug users, prostitutes even politicians that get saved but it doesn't mean they don't still sin!!! I sin after decades of being saved, my Pastor FiL still sins after being saved longer than I've been alive! He's had his church one-by-one walk out on him, his sin? Opposing me for his daughter and breaking us up 5 yrs before we got married then 7 yrs after we got married before our first Civil conversation! Everyone fails God, EVERYONE! BUT now we're fantastic friends/family!!! God can heal anything, BUT unforgiveness of man, Jesus sternly WARNED us against doing that. If you don't forgive your brother, neither will my Heavenly Father forgive you! God forgives EVERY SINGLE ONE of us, EVERY one of us deserves eternal damnation for our own sins... do we not? Trying to have degrees of sins, 1. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit; 2. Failing to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; 3. Not forgiving your brother or sister; 4. Causing little ones to stumble. So everyone without forgiveness is guiltier (sp?) NOW then RM was 42-37 yrs ago!
Lastly, twice Father Abraham was afraid of two kings, so he told them Sarah was his sister, and didn't Stop the king from taking Sarah and putting her with his harem! How wrong was that??? The king was potentially punished by God, but God didn't punish Abraham for deception, twice, the king admonished both of them though. God didn't punish Abraham for taking Haggai for himself as another wife to have a son, nor did God punish Sarah for forcing her out?! See my point? We cannot see as God sees, and we should stop thinking we're better or bigger than God, if God can forgive and bless RM for 35 yrs, then we should also forgive. That's my point, and it saddens me that some Christians think their sins stink less to God than someone else's sin does?! We ALL crucified Jesus, does the Bible not say this???

If you are talking about the woman who was about to be stoned. You have misunderstood the significance of what Jesus did. It was the woman he forgave and showed grace to when he said “neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more” Read the narrative carefully- the woman is the center of it, the main character. No man is mentioned as who she committed adultery with is not central/ crucial to the narrative. You have misunderstood the significance of the narrative if you think it was about Jesus not blaming the woman but the man she committed adultery with. The other main point of the narrative is that none of us accusing others of sin and moral failure are without sin and moral failures in our own lives. So if we are so ready to condemn others we should condemn ourselves first! Check our own righteousness or rather self-righteousness! That is the point that is being made in the narrative about the sinner (in this case the woman caught in adultery) and the self-righteous accusers wanting to condemn her being totally oblivious of their own sin.

I think we are not really understanding the purpose of excommunication, not just ‘you can’t preach’. The local church should represent holiness and public sin leads to questions about the persons salvation. God is always interested in restoration, but we need to be honest with ourselves and the perpetrator that they are away from God and the church needs to witness the persons turn/return to God by their fruits.

Even further distressing are the thousands of people under this pastor's ministry who are supposed to pray for him. Year in and year out, and nobody had any feedback from the Lord about this? But then his abuse has multiplied from one to thousands, each member hurts because of his deceit. I stand as a person hurt and abused by church and leaders as well, and have learnt that I am responsible to make sure that a specific message or person giving input into my spiritual life, is safe. In a sense a church member should test even the things that have become habit, comfortable. It is easy to say:"So many people listen to him, he must be above reproach." or for leaders to say:"So many people believe in me, surely my iniquities will not matter." Pastors placed on a pedestal will fall, and it is also the members who leave him above constant scrutiny in the Spirit, that results in this kind of thing. This is a very good interview. However, what angers me about Gateway is that the Elders are continuing to protect hierarchy and the brand over the welfare and protection of the sheep. I say this because the Elders have hired a crisis management law firm to conduct an investigation only spanning the years the victim was abused. Morris has lied for 35 years about this incident. Do you honestly believe Cindy was the only victim? Morris admitted in his "room 12" sermon series that he preyed on girls from broken relationships with their father to feed his sexual desires. This was supposedly before Morris was saved. We now know Morris continued this predatory behavior after salvation based upon what had been uncovered. So do you want me to believe that Cindy was the only victim that Morris violated?. Morris admitted it was power. Well, Morris has over 100,000 members. Morris now has extraordinary power. In addition, Morris was turning the church over to his son at the end of the year. So Morris influence at Gateway church will continue. Lord have mercy on the church. @ARKNetwork7 16 дней назад +3

I see the point they are trying to make about "power differential" but it is a slippery slope. It's smart psychological people trying to apply a standard that can be very easily misapplied. For example, what would stop someone who was in an affair from saying something like, "that man (or woman) is much smarter than me. They took advantage of me because they are a smart engineer and I am just an uneducated waitress." This power differential idea has a ring of wisdom, but it is not wisdom to think like this. The fact is there must be clear lines and their is plenty of blame to go around. A pastor sleeping with a secretary is not a power differential no matter what, it is two adults, and one may be stupid and low level and one may be crafty and high level, but that doesn't change the fact they are both adults and responsible regardless of these blurry lines of position and education. However, if there is clearly an adult and a child, then that is obvious or a sober person and an intoxicated person, those are obvious clear lines. I can only see really bad things coming from all this power differential stuff, it's way to discretionary based upon different blurry opinions and judgements that can change.

      Key questions to ask yourself:
      1) Are passages from the Bible read and explained often using other Bible passages as support at your current church?
      2) Does your church have regularly scheduled Bible studies at least once a week to go deeper into the Bible together?
      3) Do the church members have a voice during Bible studies? Are there ongoing opportunities to participate by asking questions or to engage in answering questions?
      4) Are church leaders, including the pastor and his wife, accessible when members would like to speak with them either during service or after church hours in an appropriately wise setting?
      5) Does the church provide settings of corporate prayer besides just during service?
      6) Are members taught to share the gospel outside the church walls and set up opportunities for anyone willing to go out and share together?
      7) What do the pastor and leaders teach about divorce and remarriage? Based on the Lord's uncompromising command according to Matthew 5, Matthew 19, and other chapters? Or based on modern day Americanized Christian trends that dismiss it?
      8) Does the church set up an active and firm system to protect victims of abuse for children, spouses and others?
9)Does the church view Christianity through the lens of comfortable America or through lens of persecuted church as explained in many places of the Bible, including in the 4 Gospels first listed in NT and in Revelation?
      10) Does the church take a stand against sin at all costs or do they blend in with the world's demands that we bow to them?
      11) Does the church encourage members to read and study the Word of God for themselves and commonly share with one another sometimes things they learn in private devotion with God?
      12) Does the church welcome individuals' joyous praise to the Lord during prayer and singing - whether in quietness or with joyful noise?
      13) Does the church give monetarily or with resources to their members and community in need?

What this former pastor at Gateway explains about abuse being a power issue is spot on Biblically and clearly what was going on with David and Bathsheba. I get so exasperated hearing so-called preachers and teachers of the Bible declaring that David and Bathsheba committed adultery. No, that did not happen. David raped Bathsheba. Nowhere does God refer to this happening as adultery. David was the King of Israel and therefore he ruled with power over all the Israelites. To refuse his rule and thus what David wanted would be tantamount to rebellion and placing oneself in a dangerous if not life threatening situation. “Then David sent messengers, and took her.” The Hebrew word for “take” here is laqah. It can mean to take what is being freely offered. But it can also mean to seize, to take by force what is not being freely offered. So what does it mean here? The Holy Spirit makes it very clear that David forced himself on Bathsheba (which is rape). Nathan the Prophet tells David he is the man who seized Uriah’s wife Bathsheba who was an innocent lamb taken by force which is always against another’s will. Does anyone truly believe the Lord would have presented Bathsheba as an innocent lamb taken by overpowering force if she was truly complicit in an adulterous affair? No, that would not have happen. What David did was rape Uriah’s wife and then murder Uriah. Did David reap what he sowed? Absolutely! Amnon, David’s younger son, raped his sister Tamar. Then Absalom, David’s son,had his servants murder Amnon. What David sowed on the family of Uriah, rape and murder, he reaped upon his own family. This abuse of power by church leaders is not something new but has been going on since the fall of man. It is a spirit of self entitlement. It is rampant in the church today and that is why Paul said the last days before the coming of the man of lawlessness, the anti-Christ, there will be widespread apostasy. Revival is not coming but a dwindling of those who truly love the truth of God.

Your comment about a teacher in a public school doesn't do damage like in the church???????
That is not true abuse & oppression to a child impacts their sense of self & many other things .... sets them up for life to be crushed .

I think there is a difference tho. When you are abused by a pastor or church leader it also impacts the way you view God and religion. I was abused by an uncle and it was awful but the thought of that happening inside of church? Horrible

What does prosperity & charismatic or Pentecostal have to do with sexual assault - absolutely nothing. I guess Politics and Hollywood need to stop because sexual assaults happen there also.
