I think we can all agree that the actions of Pastor Robert Morris of failing to confront his sin and proceeding with life like nothing happened has caused harm to a lot of people along the way. Besides Cindy Clemeshire the victim of his abuse, his family, wife, sons and daughters are experiencing an unprecedented season of pain and shame. It's a difficult position to be where someone you loved and admired comes out to be an abuser. Relationships are in jeopardy.
The entire Church as a whole is impacted by this. It wounds the entire body of Christ.
Yes, 100,000 parishioners worshipping at a false prophet who was preaching nonsense and lies about tithing (well, it's not mentioned in the New Testament) and lies about himself and his personal dealings and life, too. Sad.
Pedophilia is not moral failure it is a criminal offense.

My comment is that the family knew of this, so why wait till now. Like me, I wouldn't do it because I forgave all ppl who SA me I have forgiven all of them I've moved on. Jack, I am very much for the protection of children. My statement comes from being the wife of a middle school teacher who served for over 30 years. His female students ages 12-15 did and said many shocking things over the years. It is NEVER appropriate to touch an underage child. I can see how the victim would have done things that she needed to apologize for. Because I have seen kids this age do and say many things that were grossly inappropriate.

Cindy needs to be reimbursed for the counselling, plus extra for all the pain and suffering she endured. If the devil can remind you of your past, he will rob you of your future. Robert Morris' ministry has done much good for many people. Holy Spirit has clearly worked through this man for many years! I think people are who are continuing to whine about this sin, need to grow in their own relationship with God and Holy Spirit. Cindy should be compensated for her counseling, but after that, I think HER PARENTS need some accountability in allowing it to happen under their noses! I pray that Robert Morris will continue to do whatever ministry God calls him to.

Everyone is different, there can be no comparison.
What affects one person a certain way may have a completely different effect on another person.
We are not the judge, our LORD is the judge in these circumstances. He knows us all so intimately, He will have His way. The hand of GOD is at work.
We must listen to Cindy, to her sufferings and to her needs, she is the victim who was violated, abused and discarded.
Cindy is trying to find the healing she so desperately needs.
Cindy deserves her healing and her peace to be restored in full.

This is why the Bible proscribes people who commit crimes to be made to compensate their victims. For any theft, for example, the fine was FOUR TIMES whatever was stolen. The punishment for crimes similar to what Robert Morris committed, because it was adultery on his part, usually involved the death penalty. If his wife preferred, then he would have to pay a huge portion of his own life savings to Cindy’s FATHER. Mainly because her chances of contracting a stable marriage when she’s fully grown, are slim to none. And that would cost her father a lot of money for his daughter’s future upkeep, plus that would make her dowry greatly reduced, should she be lucky enough to find a man who is interested in marriage.

But God still allowed the child that he conceived in adultery with Batheseba to die. That was a consequence of David's wrong doing, and he lived to have more til he die. What consequence has Robert Morris pedophile/child molester submitted himself to after the egregious crime he committed against this child for 4-1/2 years. Which will FOREVER change Cindy's life of safety and protection in which she was robbed of and the THEIF lived on her home, where she had a right as a child to feel protected NOT stalked. God is merciful and will forgive us, if we confess our sin. That has nothing to do with him running from the law for the crime that he Committed against a child - not ONCE, but for 4-1/2 years. I shared in the news post that as others, I too was appalled to learn of the truth of the dirty details that Robert kept secret. However, my heart is broken for the innocent, including Debbie and the family, as well as the victim, Cindy. I am brought to the realization that Jesus died for the sins of everyone, and forgives those sins by the sinner's confession and repentance, no matter how horrible and ugly the sin. I pray for all involved and have faith that the Lord is in charge of the healing and restoration of all involved. I plead all Christians to look to the Lord to work all things for good, for all involved, including looking to Him for vengeance and consequences.

In this case, the pastor downplayed what he did by calling this 12 year old CHILD a "young lady." When an adult calls a woman a "young lady" he's talking about a grown woman, not a child. NONE of this was done with the pastor. He was also allowed to return to the ministry, continuing to lie about the "incidents" that were being covered up by people who should have known that was wrong. He really suffered no consequences for his actions. Even now, he's handing down his church to his son and will speak occasionally.

The church can't really heal when the pastor never repented, committed multiple sins (abusing the child and lying and covering it up, further abusing Cindy by blaming her) and the church is just doing damage control instead of cleaning house. The law firm is just for them to do damage control. They're not doing a real investigation and don't seem to really care about making any restitution to the victim and their parishioners and learning from their sins and mistakes and making sure they change their behaviors and this never happens again.

I don’t think we learned anything about the destruction the enemy can do from the Catholic Church. He never should have been allowed in ministry. That is hard for me to say bc I really liked him. I went thru this with Jimmy Swaggart and I was such a baby Christian I thought he got set up!! I'm so sorry this happened. I pray Cindy learns what true Forgiveness is so she can be set free. I think about Saul in the Bible. He murdered God's people and done horrible things. But God! God forgave him and used him in a mighty way. I hear how Pastor Morris needs to be exposed. He did that himself 38 years ago recieved counciling and repented . But this world thinks if it's not blasted all over the world it's not good enough. My heart breaks for all involved and Gateway church. We have ALL SINNED. But when we repent and ask God to forgive us then who are we to continue to shred someone apart. I'm not excusing what happened years ago . But God's ways are not our ways.

It's not just a moral faliure. It's criminal behavior that he should go to prison for!.
For those God loves HE rebukes. It seems that all has had to go public to put light on what was covered up and swept under the rug. God expects us all to be truthful including the age of the girl when we reveal our sin. Had it been handled biblically this would not be happening now. It was never handled righteously. One of my questions! Where was Morris' wife when he had Cindy in his room on Christmas? Why was Cindy in a car alone with Morris .. we trusted no one around our children as my husbands brother was molested as a child....
It is hard to believe the wife didn't know "anything" she refused to acknowledge it. This is what I hate about the wives they dimiss the truth and other innocents suffer. I am shocked if not surprised at the level of nepotism within this church. I believe this reflects in its inability to properly investigate where there are things going on that require objective investigation. This all looks more and more like cover up, protect the cash cow.
