New to this channel and I'm bing-watching over the last couple of days! Just had to say THANK YOU! for the down to earth, everyday people approach minus all of the new age junk. While I'm not in "Mom mode" (I'm in grandma mode) The tips and ideas you offer are HUGELY beneficial ! Loving your content!
same here, need to work but unmotivated an want to declutter instead. Sheesh I have to pick a topic to start on... I want to take a month off and do the whole house. Now to find how to give, get rid of stuff.
Great list. I will say that my mom and her sisters hung on to select baby items and then me and my cousins benefitted from it! The quality items from years ago were so helpful for me when I became a mother. And my Aunt who had enough space to keep most toys etc now babysits her grandchildren regularly and they get to play with the toys their mom played with years ago! Personally my family lives in less than 700 square feet single level house, so I’m unable to keep these kinds of things. I’m minimalist by necessity and by choice. Some things can be helpful to pass down through the family when it’s possible to do so! 😊
Hi Jessica, new subscriber here. You are so well spoken and concise, very easy and pleasant to watch and listen to. I am so happy that I found your channel, we have been in our house for 30 years and have a ridiculous amount of STUFF. We also have items from many relatives who have passed. We are finally ready to clear the clutter and, consequently, our minds. Thank you for the extra motivation! ***P.S. - you have the most beautiful skin! 😄😍***
I learned when confronted with overwhelming clutter, start with one drawer or cabinet at a time, even if it's once a day, eventually that office or kitchen will become more organized as you go.
For the old socks and underwear, I keep them in a separate place to use whenever I fly somewhere, so that I can throw them out before I fly back home! This leaves more luggage room for souvenirs or whatever. However, I do need to remember to wash them periodically since otherwise very old elastic will go "crunchy" and limp and won't hold anymore--it'll just stretch but won't pull back in, so it's useless. So be sure you're willing to do that before adopting this practice for yourself. EDIT: The very next tip was about ill-fitting clothes... I'll do the same with old clothes (if they're too big, not if they're too small). This may depend on how nice or formal the events will be that I'm flying out for. ** Caveat: Be sure you're wearing pants that fit right on days when flying out or back, lest you have a wardrobe malfunction when TSA requires you to take off your belt!...
I’ve seen a lot of declutter videos and I already know all the things you talked about. But somehow when you explained it the way you did it made me realise i still have so much to declutter! Thank you 😂xx
Love this one! I’ve been loving your videos so much. They have helped me declutter my house and with my terrible spending habits. Can you please show more bits of your house and how you organize things and your fall wardrobe❤
I am so guilty of the notebook clutter thing, and have recently been going through those. I so like jotting ideas into notebooks, but over the years suddenly there are so many of these, some even with private info in it. During my decluttering old notebooks, I at least glace at every page, and if there is info, I do not wish to share I shred that page. Might save some embarrassment as well depending on what you have documented in these notebooks LOL.
The cards and letters thing is something I just tackled. I have cards from high school grad, college grad, condolence cards…cards that are 20+ years old. I can’t believe I carried these items from state to state inside of a suitcase. Must have some type of psychological meaning behind it.
I laughed out loud when you mentioned seasonal clothes from last winter because by this winter we are moving from the Midwest to the Southwestern US. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Jess, what do you do when you want to donate or throw something away and your hubby doesn't agree with you? I am on a minimalist journey, but my husband is not on the same page
A lot of our stuff is shared so I want to be respectful that he has thoughts and feelings about this as well. Personally, on areas that we disagreed we just sought a compromise. So he doesn't have as limited a wardrobe as me but I asked that he declutter enough so we only use one dresser. That works for us. It's an exercise in compromise and communication for sure haha
Anythings else you would add to the list??
Out of all the people doing de-cluttering videos, I find you to be the most sensible, well-spoken, and succinct. Thank you. I appreciate your work.
I appreciate that!
Guilt clutter and your comment to clear the past clutter to make room for your future is everything.
Very motivational! Thank you so much. I am trying to kick start 2025 with a lot less clutter!!
