Hey mate. That nx500 would be absolutely spot on here. Glad you've got some new wheels sorted

@@nathanthepostman thanks mate :) dads been sat on it constantly and easily where as the T7 now traded in although great for me was to tall an top heavy for dad he couldn’t get his leg over with the stage 3b/4 prostate cancer after his surgery comfortably so I decided to change it for him. He’s allowed to ride end of the week and radio therapy starts next week for a month :) then it’s the big move down to Devon.
Agree with what you were saying on the other video I put the T7 in the same category as my big GSA’s
Went out on it the other day absolutely superb bit of kit engines a little torquey rev box bit like a 300 rally but smoother an quicker an will click into a touring pace really nice an smooth but with fixed suspension an a really low seat height, shock doesn’t pogo like the 300 shock n the forks were the biggest surprise not far off in fact probably on par if not a tiny bit better than the apex stuff on the 390 but without the adjustment which is a shame although it doesn’t need it tbh.
it’s suprised me tbh having worked through owning a lot of the bikes that tend to grab the big reviewers attention along with the smaller stuff. I think the nx500,
300 rally (if my idea of adventure was green laning all the time that’d be my choice n that’s the great thing all of our ideas of ideal adventure are different )
an the 1150gsa with the lowered suspension would be my top 3. (1150 for the boxer simplicity compared to the 1200 but deffo not with the full gsa height suspension 10 times the bike with gs height) only having to sell that due to space and funds.
Out of the box though the nx500 takes some beating if you arnt aiming for lots of trail riding out of the box or are ok at a steady gravel road pace they’ve really upped the overall feeling of a complete bike with it now, usual thing for us taller riders needs a taller screen but the fairing changes really kept the rain off me the other day.
Was interesting to pull up the other day at a cafe was our nx an a guys scrambler 400x that was getting all the attention really agree with everything you’ve said this end of the market is just so darn fun. How manageable they are is sublime even for those of us with a bit more experience was grinning from ear to ear the other day n back out tomorrow on it. Then some bigger trips after dad’s radio therapy is finished in 2 months to go sort a house in Devon so that’ll be interesting.
It’s like someone’s injected some cbr handling capabilities in along with the sense of weather protection of a gs with the fun engine of Hondas of old even though it’s a 180 degree got that smoothness the fireblades used to have Still get that slight patch of vibes at 5k but they’ve geared it so you are never at it either above or below super clear mirrors at 70. Dash is very clear and easy to read in the sun an it flicks on an off the centre stand nice.
The other big thing is just how easy it is to move around such a low cog with the wheel changes to reminds me of the older adv travel bikes before they all started turning into fireblade level of performance with straight bars
N the seat height is just superb speaking of the seat it’s a bit hard but again an easy fix with a cool cover.
38 bikes along in my journey (mostly classics and superbikes) an it’s in my top 5 I’d say which is no mean feat against some of the other bikes.
Deffo gonna be buying a 2nd one after the move.
Gotta be said mate these vids are superb been both really enjoying them n thought provoking to hope you are all having an amazing trip :)

I ride a Tiger 900. Just installed the AX41s. Huge improvement over the Dunlop Trailmax Missions which were more of a road tire. Not getting any younger. I’ve picked the Tiger up before, but at 70 it’s not a sustainable endeavor. Triumph’s 400 has caught my attention. Have you heard any rumors of an Adventure version? You know, 21” front wheel, longer travel, windscreen and some protection. A direct competitor to the Himalayan, but a Triumph and 50lbs lighter.

i think the triumph 400x scrambler like i think Nathan has might be up your alley 😊

Can't see that happening anytime soon to be fair. They probably don't have the ambition to take on Himalayan, not when the street scramblers have sold so well

I suppose the only thing that suggests Triumph might have something more adventurous in mind is the X designation of the current model, which maybe, just maybe suggests an XE round the corner.

I found the hostels were briliant and cheap, did a camp and also used the AirBnB App, as you say the weather is so unpredictable and theres nothing worse than having wet kit for the morning. I booked mainly on the morning for the evening and most service stations are little cafes anyway. Looks great there, hope the weather holds for you all.

Yes, gas stations are great. Until you tire of hot dogs and filter coffee!

Yeah nice food and beer are about the only thing that seem expensive compared to what we're paying back home now. Hotdogs are still like £3 or something. Proper student prices!@@biker_dale

Wondering if the klx 300 was ever considered; it's supposed to be much like the Honda with better OEM suspension?

    • @dewipeach
      @dewipeach Месяц назад +2

As you've said the KLX has a better spec. Sadly it's not been released in the UK, had it been then my choice, but settled for and am happy with Himalaya 411.. getting over the weight issue, lighter every time I man handle thing.
Other than tall, the SWM RS300R was a nice lighter bike had it taken off with better Importer/Dealerships.

Give us an insight sometime please into maintenance issues on those roads, will the bikes need new drive train parts at the end?

No problems with any of the bikes so far. One voge chain might need replacing as it's started to shed its o rings but that's all at the minute after 2000 miles
