Cord is good for more things than pulling things up: it can be used for temporarily repairing things, building things and tying things to the kayak, as well as attaching the kayak to a tree or something.
@@WesWherever I learned the hard way too. I nearly suffered death by rapidly descending camping stove, while scaling a particularly steep cliff here in Ireland once. A blue blur, then it was gone. I know it was a good day, because I didn't unintentionally follow it.
Perhaps carry some paracord or other rope? You could lower stuff down that way. Put a carbine on the bundles, run 2x needed cord though, release an end when the job is done and pull the cord up for the next load. But, I've no idea the weight of the kayak. Might need a handle for the cord? Just thinking out loud. Loved the video.
Now that’s what I call working hard for content! Appreciate the hard work you be putting into the videos to bring continuous content for us Wes!! Loving the consistency 🔥🔥
Cool! Sometimes I also like to go far far away ... from problems, boredom, routine, people :) Even bread tastes different( and much better) when you eat it Not at home )
Glad the geese neighbors were kind even though they woke you up. So a beautiful view. I like these little islands you visit, bc they're similar but definitely not the same. So cool. I agree with the other comments, you need to bring some rope or something for lifting things up to the top. Looking forward to the next video 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I admire your great attitude and perseverance! That was super annoying and you never lost your temper. Quite the fun adventure and you have some serious kayaking skills.😊
Man, that looked beautiful! Such a cool experience. Glad to come along with you. And just the right amount of footage to feel like we got to experience the whole the whole trip. Despite it only being 11 minutes! Well edited.
I’ve just stumbled across your channel, great stuff. Exactly the sort of thing I love doing. Here on the East coast of England I am blessed with lots of little creeks and islands to explore and I combine my passions of kayaking and ham radio, and of course videoing it for RUclips. Looking forward to watching your future adventures Wes. Cheers Kevan
Thanks Kevan, sounds fun combining ham radio & kayaking! Not quite the same, but I do always carry a marine radio when kayaking to contact the coast guard in the event of an emergency. Glad you are enjoying the content… I’m trying to provide some value & positivity, so I’m happy people like you are finding the vids. Cheers!
Muito bom, principalmente a parte das panelas despencando 😂😂 Faz parte da aventura, gostei muito 😂😎 Enfim, um vídeo diferente, já estou animada pra procurar uma ilha 👏👏😎🏕🇧🇷
"Oh my goodness, I almost fell," is like the most nonchalant thing to say when you nearly plunge 20 feet. I'd be rattling off expletives like a sailor.
Nice one.. That looked like a hard climb. 👍 I wish it was a little bit warmer up here so I could go out and do Wes type things.. just a few more weeks and the Canadian Pacific Northwest will be habitable again...👍
Thanks again Wes… it will be warmer soon enough for you! PNW whether Canada or the states is such a beautiful area and definitely suitable for Wes type things 🏕️👍
Love the videos! As a suggestion, invest in the solo stove mesa or mesa xl. I have both stoves and they both are great. Mesa xl gives you more room to feed your fire and fairly small!
Saw Mt Tamalpais in the background and instantly recognized the North Bay, or San Pablo Bay to be precise. I’m assuming the State Park you were next to was China Camp in Marin County.
The algorithm suggested this video. I like your videos and decided to subscribe. I'm always concerned about the legalities of camping in spots and negative reactions but seems very positive especially looking at the number of views on this video. Great job creating suspense!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! 😊 I haven’t had any trouble yet, and nearly all my spots are not exactly designated camp sites by any means. I guess each success inspires a bit more confidence for the next time, although I still realize it’s always a risk 🤞
@@WesWherever I subscribe to a lot of outdoor adventure channels, and you have a very unique presentation. I easily see your channel taking off here. Your NYC island video is how I found you. That video will probably go super viral!

I just stumbled across your video, just the type of thing I like to watch. I subscribed. You got a lot of gear in that boat. I would like to hear about your Kayak and see how you fit it all your gear in your kayak. I camped once on Saddlebag Island in Washington state. Got there by power boat and kayaked around the island. Really enjoyed time on the island. I enjoy lake and mild river kayaking.
Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed! Thanks for your suggestion, I will plan a video to showcase the gear/kayak setup. Washington seems like a great destination for paddling & camping… definitely on my bucket list!!

As others stated, some rope would be very handy (para cord) not only in this video but others you have posted. Please be safe my man, as the more you do these type of camps the more confident you become. That is when mistakes can happen. I enjoy your videos and love that you are willing to go the extra mile to get something done in a camp, but your health is your wealth brother. You need a step 2 after that process of getting up on top of the little island.
Thanks, rope is definitely invaluable! I will try to always tread carefully and not underestimate the dangers, your comment really reminded me of that again. And definitely, a step 2 was thoroughly enjoyed after that struggle 😉
Any idea what made what looks like trails on that little island? Any shell piles or signs of otters? Edit to add...NVM...commented before i saw the goose brigade.
