- At the end of Halo 2, the Shipmaster never follows you to the boss fight and just despawns after you reach a certain point. Let's see if we can bring him all the way to the end and see if he'll fight Tartarus too!

It would have been neat being as they play essentially the same roles as friend/comrad for Arbiter and Chief respectively.

I think they meet between Floodgate and The Ark I can't remember tho. But that's after Halo 2

@@ximbabwe0228 Nah they dont. They're in different cutscenes back to back in halo 2 and 3 but are never present in any scenes or gameplay at the same time. In halo 2 both ALWAYS have some convenient plot excuse for them to seperate from Arby or Chief, and in Halo 3 they'll litterally be in different rooms in different cutscenes. Best example is The Covenant. First there's a scene with Rtas, Miranda, Lord Hood, Oracle, Arby and Chief but no johnson, then litterally a scene later its Johnson, Arby and Oracle distributing weapons while chief loads up his weapons. You hear shipmaster maybe over the radio but that's as close as it gets.
Now we know how Shipmaster lost two of his jaw thingies.

+ couple of Retrys as well, he despawns if you lose sight of him so I assume GeneralKidd probably run to that several times while making the video
If you give ship master a sword he'll probably fight the brutes.

I remember playing some halo 2 and I was bored and tried this, it is totally possible and it’s super funny to see him fight Tartarus. Fun fact, he doesn’t despawn when you get to the banshees, so you can pick him up at the next part with the spectre and drive him up the building. Edit: you can also bring the spectre to the boss fight and other elites will get in with you.
In classic Halo 2 Graphics, Any surviving elites will appear idle in the final cutscene *IF* they're standing in the correct location.
It may be Possible to get Shipmaster down to the middle floor & Fight Tartarus and keep him in the correct location for him to appear in the cutscene's classic graphics.
If you do the speedrunning trick to get the Spectre into the final fight with Tartarus, you can get both the Spectre and Shipmaster into that area simultaneously. Thus you can have not only Shipmaster but also an army of duplicated Sgt Johnsons too, and you can use the Spectre to then boost everyone onto the main platform where Tartarus is

Back in the OG Halo 2 I did this solo with the spectre. The hardest part iirc was trying to get the spectre to fit through one of the doorways in the room that get shot by the scarab. Its like they designed it to keep you from putting vehicles through that gap
In reality "Shipmaster is dead from the start.."
It’s pretty easy to get the spectre into the final boss fight on solo. All you have to do is shoot off the jagged pieces where the passengers sit. Then it becomes easy to get through the door without a coop partner smacking you in. I’ve done this consistently. Now I never enter the final boss fight without the spectre.
Now I’m not sure if getting through the door is the problem with going solo. Or if it has something to do with the shipmaster.
My brother and I brought a hunter to fight Tartarus. Made him stand on a banshee. He also runs and jumps across onto the platform like the Elites.

I’ve used this trick in Halo 2 before when just screwing around trying to find hidden stuff. It’s difficult to do but super fun to do it cause you get some interesting lines and cool fight moments between Shipmaster (Rtas Vadum) and the AI.

for anyone wondering why this is weird for the shipmaster to fight tartarus it is because the shipmaster doesn't know that the "great journey" was fake. the only reason the elites are fighting brutes is because the brutes are trying to take there place. otherwise the shipmaster would have tried killing the arbiter if he knew that the arbiter was trying to stop the wring from being activated.
That crash you mentioned happens on coop regardless if you bring the Shipmaster with you or not.

You can also bring the Johnson that you initially see climb aboard the Scarab out and onto Spectre. Then when you get to the Control Room you'll have two different versions of Johnson fighting alongside you + Johnson clones from the glitch + Shipmaster.
Fun Fact: The Scarab Johnson can actually be killed and is not invincible. Take him to the lower level of the Tartarus fight, force him out of the Spectre and he will die due to him kneeling when he exits, hitting the death barrier.

There’s only a few videos showing it, and it only happens on the Snow map on a specific phantom drop spot.
I used to do this, but only up until the banshee bit, it was soooo frustrating to do as he kept trying to run back and if you missed that melee attack on him, he'd usually be too fast to catch up to
You have to spam any button during that cutscene while in co op to not crash
This is why Shipmaster joined the Banished

Is there a reason you didn't do the speedrunning trick to bring the Spectre in the boss fight room with you (This time with Shipmaster on the back)? Did that method not work?

I just got around to doing it, and yes, you can use the speedrunning method to get both the Spectre and the Shipmaster into the fight against Tartarus. Now you can have an army of duplicated Johnsons and the Shipmaster fight alongside you lol
Just gonna say he isn't a shipmaster yet at this point since he hasn't taken over the Shadow of Intent yet; In H2 he's referred to consistently as The Spec Ops Leader in objectives.
PUTTING THAT ASIDE THOUGH
If his AI isn't really functioning functioning when he's in the room (as in he'll shoot but he won't move anywhere and stays put) then what you could maybe try is going back outside, getting the spectre down somehow, and doing the speedrunning tactic where you drive the spectre up the other side of the temple and eventually have it and yourself drop it into the trigger volume that's there to bring it into the final fight. From there you'd presumably be able to take Rtas down to the actual fight area.
Or just give him a beam rifle for a psuedo extra Johnson.

Man, I spent so much time as a kid screwing around on this level just duplicating hunters and playing gun dress up with my allies to make them as safe as possible. Never got shipmaster to the end though, despite my efforts :-(

With enough rage you can bring the elites and hunters on a specter to the boss battle room

You could make the end a bit faster by doing the spectre wall break loading the Tartarus cutscene from outside having the scarab clip through. That would also give you an easy way to get Shipmaster on the main platform at the end
lol I do this all the time, but an easier way to do this is to give Shipmaster an Energy Sword. He'll charge towards the Brutes so that I don't have to keep punching him.
Each time he says shipmaster it sounds more like shit master

You can get him to follow you without constantly hitting him until you get to the scarab. When you get him to the boss fight you should give him a beam rifle to help with that shield.
Tried that once with a random elite that was committed to not jumping down once and was plasma rifling like a mad man on Tartarus, so I gave him a Beam Rifle and basically he only fires it one shot at a time with long pauses between shots rendering it useless. If you had 3 elites with them then maybe. Or maybe 3 johnsons

You don't have to hit him after the first room he just follows... and park the spectre rear into the door then he can't leave.

You actually don't need to kill the elite. You can also have him join the fight.

I did this with Johnson in halo 3-
I duplicated him and used him to fight the brutes without me doing anything in I believe it was called crows nest mission, I like punched him so many times, used shields to block exists, and he almost killed me multiple times ._.

Does Rtas even know Truth is behind the Schism at this point? All he seems to know is that the brutes betrayed the elites and want their place. Nothing was implied that he didn't still believe in the Great Journey. And Arbiter didn't specify why he needed to get into the control room, he just told Rtas he needed to. So if I'm right then that makes this a bit awkward. Great Journey good, brutes bad, brutes starting Great Journey... Arbiter fighting with humans to stop Great Journey... does not compute.
Presumably he's told about the lie on the way back to Earth but it'd be one hell of a culture shock having not heard the Gravemind for himself.

I think you can skip punching him to the Scarab, a couple playthroughs I have had him and the driver Elite not despawn when I got the Banshee, just idling at the Scarab's feet. (i forgot if they were in the spectre). Not sure what makes this happen though.

Yeah you can bring the Spectre in alongside Shipmaster, then with the Spectre you can duplicate some Johnsons too

What happens when popcorn attacks other combat forms? Can they infect and switch their side? Can combat forms damage one another in a fight? Can they damage players in vehicle passenger seat? Can they damage scarabs? What happens when an invincible popcorn attacks a shielded unit?
Lastly, can popcorn hurt the prophet? Can he shake them off? Can they kill tarterus?

Any way we could play as the Arbiter in Halo 3's custom games? Like, get his armor or his model at least? I've been researching this for a while, posting on Halo Waypoint and Reddit and many other places to ask if anyone has ever done this and no one has ever done this. Is it even possible? I think it should be as long as you were able to bring the Elite and Spartan from the menu into custom games.
If you use Assembly you might be able to extract his tag data from a campaign level and inject his data into a multiplayer map. I know that can work with halo ce and halo 2, but I’m not sure it works on Halo 3 because everyone has custom armor pieces. I know at the least you could change a multiplayer weapon to shoot arbiters biped instead of shooting bullets, but that’s probably not what you want to do lol.

On halo 5 on mission evacuation i put the weponless civilian on the elivator in my monguse and he still died when the elevator stoped i think they patched it
