I will never understand how General found an almost never-ending amount of content in these games, but I’m not complaining.
Halo was a big game for Xbox a lot of stuf were not finish due to lack of time so theres a lot of content to explore

In the Halo: Reach beta, the armour lock ability when used by elites was red instead of blue. Does the red armour lock variant still exist in the Halo: Reach coding or not?

I'd like to see the Jackal shield officially be implemented, at least in custom games to spawn or start with. I can imagine a lot of fun with it.

I can already imagine a multiplayer Halo game with different species and classes for said species including jackals with shields. That and also scavengable shield devices from dead jackals.

I've wanted the Jackal Shield to be an official weapon in Halo since the H2 days. Going around with an Energy Sword and a Jackal Shield is the dream.
They probably didn't do it because it would have been OP'd as hell.

I remember back in the day when I was bored I would play Halo 2 and try and get an energy sword on a playthrough on easy but when I run out of the energy sword power I just keep the weapon and beat people up with my fists. Sitting there spam punching a brute in the face is one of the most fun things ever

Would make sense since its a tracking weapon, perfect for taking down flying targets. The The AA needlers from halo wars might've come from the scrapped content of Halo 2/3.

Yep as others mentioned 343 finally fixed it a little under a year ago when Halo 2 came to MCC PC. Prior to that though it was indeed totally broken in most cases.
For those who don't know, GPMG stands for "general-purpose machine gun", similar to how SAW stands for "squad automatic weapon". Just a fun fact for everyone.
I remember I was in 8 grade a few of my friends where talking about some fun ideas for halo 2, I always said I wanted to use a jackle shield
11:04 GPMG stands for General Purpose Machine Gun; They are usually belt-fed, feature a quick-change barrel design calibered for various fully powered cartridges such as the 7.62×51mm NATO. Examples of the weapon include the M60, MG 42, MG 34 and FN MAG.
And ironically enough the SAW from halo 4 is also technically a GPMG.

Technically you couldn't use it. It was only an entity created specifically for the jackals to hold. The same goes with Halo 1 jackals aswell.

It’s amazing how far along that unmounted machine gun came. It looks animated and everything. It would’ve been op so maybe that’s why they removed it.
The shields the jackals use would be fun to have as a weapon you can get from jackals you kill.

Great video, does the energy sword actually replace itself with the useless varient? You could test this by draining all the energy, saving the game and checking (in assembly i assume?) if your player is now holding the useless energy sword

What about the human turret (GPMG) that Marines can be seen carrying before setting it up?
Like Johnson at the beginning of Cairo Station or that one Marine in Metropolis before the Scarab destroys the Scorpion.
i remember having an infinite energy sword back in halo 2, essentially you just drain the battery and if the next mission allows whatever weapons you had previously then theres you might notice that it still activated despite the game saying otherwise

i havent seen it mentioned yet but i figure it's worth pointing out the GPMG's reticle is recycled from the old SMG reticle seen in the E3 03 demo
*Question* : can you find the plasma rifles used by the scarab during cutscenes?
small technical note, player spartan and player elites fire from the camera, in anniversery graphics it seem like the weapon is position on the floor, so if you would untick the first from camera, the shots would likely come from the floor where the weapon is located in.
the same would go for AI, they all do not fire from camera, but if they were, the shots would not originate from the weapon they hold.
Great video now see if them cars from halo 2 left by civilians can be driven with some modding.
Is the GPMG the weapon that Johnson carries on the first level before he deploys it?
The reason the Hunter cannon comes out of his forehead is because that is where the camera is and probably the default point that projectiles, at least some of them, are shot out of. Otherwise you would be able to have someone in your crosshairs on screen but the gun could be blocked and you just shoot a wall or a low barrier. You can do it with the detachable turrets in other Halo games, and some more realistic games do it on purpose as a feature.
Back in the days of the original Halo 2, about the « unarmed » weapon on The Armory, when you look down at your shadow, you can see that the Chief is in a position like he’s holding a rifle, but nothing in the hands.
You also can see that when you lower your weapon ( Down arrow on controller ).

I would love to see the jackal shield modded well into campaign as an item you can pick up. It looks like it could offer some pretty fun gameplay of taking less damage at the cost of doing less damage, given the dual-wield penalty on weapons would still apply. Would be pretty nifty to just sort of tank one's way through tough segments. SPV3 adds it, but it's kind of pointless since you can only punch with it. It'd be a whole different ballpark with the ability to fire a weapon with it(or even cooler, go full medieval and wield it with an energy sword.)
how do you obtain these weapons? and canyou only do this using a PC?
I have a couple of ideas for videos.
#1 - Halo (any of the games) - Can you force enemies to run out of ammo? I know that Marines seem to have an infinite amount of ammo, but I've also noticed that enemy weapons can have a different amount of leftover ammo depending on how soon you kill them.
#2 - Titanfall 2 - Can you save the militia test subjects in "Survive the Dome Simulation?"
No enemies can't run out. The ammunition left is entirely randomized
I'd like to see some modding to the brute pike. It reminds me of the Shock Lance in Unreal II. Maybe it could be somehow combined with a plasma or lightning particle beam to make it more like a lightning staff.

the silenced SMG was in Halo 2 assuming it was meant for the ODST's only but Chief could use it too, but was scrapped and later used for Halo 3 ODST instead.
I really wanna see that DMR we saw in the halo 2 demo. I loved the sound of it but sadly have never seen it. Also for some.reaso. that halo 2 demo felt more like the experience I was expecting for thr 2nd game so was a little disappointed that kinda feel from the demo wasn't really in the main game.

Nearly 17 years later and I'm still upset that Halo 2 didn't turn out to be the game it was shown in the E3 demo.

How did you get the Arbiter to do those animations when he pulls out the sword? Does that just happen in Halo 2 when you pull it out as an elite?
Yup, the Arbiter and multi-player elites have a unique animation that plays when you pull out an energy sword in halo 2.

The jackal shield should have been an actual game you could pick up from enemies. It would make sense for it to be a offhand weapon only though.

I remember getting a glitched energy sword where if you drained your sword and then held onto it in your hand, then went through a cinematic the sword would look depleted but function as a charged energy sword, basically turning into a invisible energy sword that never looses its charge. Basically turning into the invisible light saber. Star Wars lore fans will know what I'm talking about.

stuff like holding the jackel shield shows the creative routes the new games could've taken instead of making all the weapons less interesting and making the alien weapons more like human weapons. they could've made new covenant weapons, human weapons, and made some of the older ones usable like this. it would've added alot while still being true to the franchise.

Kinda late so someone might have already covered this. Anyway, the lmg is very reminiscent of the mounted turret seen in the pelican troop bay, the one Johnsson cocks in the metropolis cutscene. It is also found floor mounted in a handful of missions an mp maps. I belive its called the m247. This one is simply unmounted.
The elite honorgaurd staff is the coolest looking weapon in halo change my mind

I think that the GPMG has been in the files but unusable until recently. And the GPMG is literally just the human mounted Machinegun unmounted.

I found out as a kid that if you carry an energy sword that’s out of ammo into the next level it has no blade and says out of ammo still but works just fine

Lol i used to mod halo 2 back in the day, was so much fun. Played as hunters, grunts, used all weapons etc. You could make a turret fly around and shoot out a vehicle if you wanted hahaha
The big Needler makes the Covenant anti air weapons in Halo Wars make more sense.
