Hi Linda, I just came across this video and really enjoyed it. I just turned 69 and I too have arthritis. When you talked about food scraps in the garbage, I decided to share what I've been doing for a couple of years. I save white and blue plastic bags from stores. I use the white ones in the bathroom trash can and the blue ones in the freezer. I put all food scraps in the blue bag in the freezer during the week and it gets put in the big outside toter on garbage day. Never any smells, never any bugs. Works so well!
In addition to putting a bag of garbage in the freezer, my mother would take a half gallon, you know square or rectangular milk carton, and when it was empty, she would cut it in half basically creating saving the bottom half and creating a square bucket, he put a little vegetable bag in there from the supermarket and you put it in the door of your freezer. Then when you have like a little extra oatmeal or some little extra piece of meat or some garbage just open the freezer and drop it in that little bucket. Then when it gets full, you just pull out the bag from the bucket, tie it up and throw your garbage out and put a new bag in.
@@SHarrell530 I live near a big city and I tried putting eggshells once in my garden and I got 1 million flies. I’m just putting that out there for some reason if there’s any type of food outside will get flies and I don’t want that.
I'm 75 (almost) my cleaning hack is after I clean the kitchen in the evening, I pick out one drawer or one shelf in the kitchen empty, declutter, clean, and refill. It takes about 67 days to complete the whole cycle then I start over again. BUT (there always a but) after a while your shelves and drawers will pretty much stay organized so you can skip a drawer/shelf and catch it the next time around. Sunday is my day of rest; I try to do nothing constructive except eat and clean up afterwards.
The world won't stop if you don't keep up with the cleaning EVERY day. Sunday is a great day to rest, reflect, watch that world go by, enjoy your friends and family.
Awwww, you’re so sweet! I just want to hug you! I’m not lazy, just worn out with health problems, lol. So glad I found your channel! May the Lord bless you with health and the secret desires of your heart! John 3:16❤
What a great find! I am 71 almost 72. I live in a mobile home. I suffer from many chronic health issues, and am awaiting the same neck and back surgeries as your husband had. I am thrilled to find a senior Christian person to bring an older perspective to RUclips. Bless you and I look forward to viewing your videos.
@@robinm.1961 It is to me. RUclips is full of young, indulgent, self centered, rich girls. I watch some of them and find good ideas, and I admit it, even have some favorites. In all, I have found 2 "senior" women here that can actually give me good, usable, information about issues that don't consist of modeling poses, selfies, and other stuff like that. My faith means a lot to me and good values are hard to find. When you find both, that is a winner to me. If you disagree, that is your right. I am not trying to "influence" you. 🙃
You are my kind of cleaner - thanks for the reminder to make things easier - it’s hard to let go of the cleaning habits of a lifetime but when arthritis (plus) hits, you have no choice! I liked your hacks, thank you, Linda, I’ll use them all, AND give myself a break! 💐💞
🤣🥰Amen🙏 I have been donating, declutterring & only keeping the things I love. I had an entire linen closet STUFFED 🤦🏻♀️ The kids are grown with their own families. I keep 1 set of sheets for the spare beds & 2 sets for us. It feels fantastic 🥰
Just came across your site and love your suggestions. I am 72 with arthritis and fibromyalgia, which started in my late 30's. Heart and lung problems started in my 50's. I have had asthma all my life, so I can't handle strong smelling cleaning products, so I have no choice but to use the milder more expensive cleaners. With all my health issues I can only do a little bit at a time even dishes I do in steps, wash a few, sit down rest then a few more and sit down. I use a stool to sit on to cook. Tried it to wash dishes and got water all over me, so I went with the sit stand sequence. But it is all about pacing my activities and resting in between. Thanks for your tips. Just subscribed to your channel for more helpful tips.
So sorry to hear of your health issues and believe me, I get it! Welcome to the channel and I hope something I share will be helpful for you. Thanks so much for sharing. Blessings ❤️
I'm 69, have arthritis and fibromyalgia and lung trouble, too. I use a cane at home and a walker when we go out (mostly just to church). I cannot stand for more than about a minute, so I use a rolling desk chair in the kitchen. I also use it to sweep or vacuum (we have the canister style). The desk chair helps me to be able to do what I can.
I love this! * covering an angle broom to dust ceilings or maybe covering it with a cloth dampened with cleaner for floorboards and corners. I'm buying one of these! * $store wipes for blinds or window edges and sills. I'm doing this! Thank you. Truly.
Best new tool to me is a triangle shaped scrub pad on a swivel. The handle is about two feet long. No more having to try and scrub the tub with the fear of ending up in the tub. Found it on Amazon for under $12
I just found your channel - you brighten my day with your attitude. We have a king size bed (don't do that) and changing sheets used to be a terrible chore. I have learned to fold the sheets from top to bottom and again in the same direction. That way you can lay the sheet on the bed, tuck in the bottom and then pull up toward the top. Less walking around the bed. It also helps to draw a line just above the elastic on the bottom end of the fitted sheet (I know the tag goes on the left, but the line is easier) and add little mark in the center. It also helps to put a dot at the bottom center of the top sheet. Hope this helps someone. Thanks for a great, uplifting video.
I need one of those. I’m 70 and have back problems and arthritis too. My vacuum cleaner is just too much for me. I just bought it 2 years ago and it costs almost 300 dollars. Ouch but hopefully I can get a little bit for it. -Susan
Husband got me 3 rumba like vacuums one for each floor. Got rid of rugs on floor except for doors. Works wonders. Plan before hand for problems. I agree with her simplify.
I'm new here, am 70, and had a total knee replacement in late February of this year. Not to mention arthritis in my other knee, back, etc. Luckily, our vacuum cleaner is lightweight. Thank you for sharing!
My husband's newspaper is delivered around 3 am, usually thrown at the front door. Since I am usually the first one up, I will retrieve it. If it is close enough to the door (especially in nasty weather) I get out my kitchen tongs and use them so I don't have to go outside, stoop, turn and re-enter the house. Also great for getting that package of pasta that keeps trying to avoid me by scooting to the back of the shelf. Love tongs.
Hello, finally something for seniors. I live in Canada and saw your video for the first time today. Love the ideas and tricks for cleaning. I had to give up cleaning like I did before, Body did not like to work so hard anymore lol. Thanks for the fun video.
I like the idea of using the large giant tongs to get the clothes out of the bottom of the washer as it can be hard to reach the far back and bottom of the washer...Also to pick stuff up off the floor...I wil use that one. Thank you Linda 😀
First time visitor! :) I'm not a senior (yet...lol), but I have multiple chronic health issues and really appreciate these tips! I love the angled broom and covering it with a cloth! HECK YEAH LINDA! I have recently become a full-time caregiver for my soon to be 80-year Mama. I am a professional singer and musician but I also have my own online merchandise business and I just created my own record label! To top that off, I have my beloved indoor kitties and my outdoor wildlings that I have to take care of...but I am a STAUNCH believer in running a tight ship which includes a CLEAN HOUSE! Hi Linda - I have just found you and thank you for all the great ideas. I have just subscribed. I need a new garbage bin and agree that a smaller one is best, living alone, I don't want old food waste hanging around the kitchen for too long. I must get rid of some of my knick-knacks to make dusting a breeze like you have done. Thank you for all your encouragement. PS Great idea to clear clutter that I got from another RUclipsr - get rid of 3 items a day, either donate, pass on to family or friends, or toss in the trash! Only 3 items is manageable.....
A grabber is necessary for arthritic hands. Im 73 and was diagnosed 6 months ago with RA. Im learning how to make life easier. I get total strangers to open jars.
Hi Linda, my name is Lynda with the y... you are a joy and thank you so much for sharing your tips... I'm only 64 with health issues having a rough time doing any detail cleaning.....thank you😊❤😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally someone who gets it! This is so encouraging. Especially about the happy heart. I'll be thinking of you next time I clean my "one thing". That's my speed, too. You are a beautiful person!
I found that using an O’Cedar mop has been amazing for me. It works great for the floors, baseboards, and even the walls. It is good for reaching those cobwebs also. Make sure that you have most of the water out of the mop to make it lighter (damp). Just my thought.
Thank you so much. I just found you. I have terrible arthritis in my whole body and fibromyalgia. I appreciate the ideas. I have a husband that doesn’t help. I learned alot.
Thanks so much for watching! And you might enjoy a video on fibromyalgia I did on my channel. “How I’ve Managed fibromyalgia for 40 yrs.” Check it out. Blessings on you today!
Aren't you just so cute❤ I turned 60 and it is really something to scrub the way I am used to so this is some awesome tips!! Grew up on using pine sol. Smells good works pretty well! Thank you!
Sue Wolfe- I saw your channel for the 1st time today, and you really made me smile! I have some mobility issues, and your ideas were fun and helpful! I'm originally from South Florida and went to that big university in the capitol city! I loved North Florida and miss it! I hope you have some relief with your arthritis and have great growth with your channel! 👏👌👍❤️
I too have inflammatory arthritis and I’m on dozens of drugs. Ended up with a bleed on my brain a year ago and I get exhausted just putting the laundry in the washer. I’m definitely using the barbecue tongues trick 🙌🏻⭐️ I could scream when I drop a sock 😂 Yes! Work smarter not harder and declutter ❤❤❤
I too have B-B-Q tongs for my laundry room. I am short. So, I had a need to a reach. I thought I was the only one, I have used it for years. thes are amazing ideas, some I already do/ have. You are terrific! I just subscribed. Thank you!! I am 65 and it seems like BAM. I couldn’t do some things!
Awesomeness! Thank you! I'm not a senior but I have mobility issues and these tips will really help me out! I also love your look in fuchsia! It's your color!
WOW Love this video. We are in Central FL. I have had 2 back surgeries and now have a pinched nerve so I have to be careful with everything that I do. I have a slight case of OCD so it frustrates me when things aren't "perfect". I have had to train myself to relax and just do what I can, when I can. Like you said, the world will go on if things aren't perfect.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I so appreciate it. And I’m so sorry to hear about your pain, but I certainly do understand living with chronic pain. Been doing it for 40 years. I’ll be praying for you to have some relief and healing. Blessings.❤️🙏
These are great ideas. I will certainly try these out. I have arthritis in my back, SI joints, hips, and hands, so these ideas will certainly help. I am from North Florida too! Thank you! ❤😊
I'm not trying to discourage you, but I didn't hear anything new except when you said you get your husband to help you, that was golden, I loved it, you are a very likeable person you will do very well.
The big tongs idea was new. I use them to reach things in cabinets too. I call them tweezers. The Dirt Devil recommendation was appreciated. Baseboard cleaning with the cloth covered clean cheap broom is something I will try.
I've learned putting several extra trash bags in the can at once saves a few trips keep a few in the bottom of the can perfect esp for bedrooms bathroom etc
👀👍🏽😍-short cuts really do help! At 67 always been an active over wanting a clean home! Not sure if it’s anxiety but now at 67 find myself overwhelmed dead tired at end day! Hi! I have just found you on FB and already adore you! Your tips are spot on! That good ole Southern accent is the icing on the cake said this NC gal! Can't wait to see more of your videos!! Bye y'all!!

Hello, please try Organic, Hexane free, Cold pressed Castor Oil, in a dark, glass bottle. Rub it into wherever you have pain in your joints. Fushi is a good brand, but any brand that ticks all 4 boxes works. If it doesn't say Hexane free on the bottle, it's not. The results are miraculous. Please try it, give it 3 days, a little goes a long way. It really works. God bless you. New subscriber here from Ebgland. ❤❤❤
@@LiveandLaughwithLinda-jy7poHello! You won't regret it. Please let me know how you get on. Then you can share the good news in a video. So many are suffering needlessly. God bless you 🙏💕
@@user-ot7ln4fy7y It probably had Hexane in it, most have. It costs more to extract it. Google what is Hexane and what affects it has. It is terrible. Also, if it's in a plastic bottle, it won't work. Fushi on Amazon ticks every box. You won't regret it. Please let me know your results 💕
I find long handled pot brushes give good leverage and pressure to clean the bath, also I found a battery powered rotary cleaning brush that helps. Just sewn zips on all my duvets to replace the buttons as with arthritis in my hands made buttons awkward, got a good deal on amazon, bought 10 zips for less than £5 , 2x zips per duvet meeting in the middle.

Love the tips, already do a few of them; great minds think alike. I would like to add one: Don’t tuck the bed sheets in. For two reasons, one it takes time and energy, two if you have leg cramps in the middle of the night, trying to get out of bed to stand is easier when they aren’t tucked in. If you want to keep the sheets from migrating too much tuck one foot corner in.
I looooove your glasses. It really makes you look good. I was debating getting one of the new large glasses and we look about the same age and I didn’t know if I would look weird with them. lol You made me realize I would look HAPPY with them soooo….. I love your video! -Susan

I use a long handled mop to clean our tub. It works pretty good too. I alse use a 34 inch long grabber reacher to pull clothes out of the dryer. Denture tablets do a great job inside toilets. We learn ways to get around our health challenges. 🙂
Hi, Linda! I just found your channel with this video today and subscribed because you seem so cheerful and fun. I was also surprised that we clean in the same ways (we have the same list)!😁
Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting! Arthritic hands are certainly a pain (literally) especially since I play the piano for a living (piano teacher). But
I never thought of tongs for the laundry either. I have tongs in 3 sizes - one is a 3' grabber specifically designed for cupboards, etc. Also, of course, the telescoping Swiffer rod and their fluffy pads .
This is great! Thank You. I've had both hips replaced and it's not easy to bend. I'm talking about getting in the bottom of cabinets and the bottom of stove. I'm realizing how great it would be to have my oven in the wall and the Microwave. I emphasize with your Arthuritus. My brother was so cripped with Arthuritus it was so very sad. Well, Thank You Your a Love lady.. I'm glad I watched your video.

To top that off, I have my beloved indoor kitties and my outdoor wildlings that I have to take care of...but I am a STAUNCH believer in running a tight ship which includes a CLEAN HOUSE! These tips are GOLDEN!! ( I am also afflicted with Spina Bifida-which messes with my bones and arthritis as well ). THANK YOU! MUCH LOVE AND MAD RESPECT FROM NEW ORLEANS BABY! ^..^⚜🎺🎷🎭🥃🍺🦐🦞🦀🐊
Welcome New Orleans! We lived on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL 16 yrs. and raised our kids there. Thanks for watching! I so appreciate your comments. Blessings!❤️
You are delightful. Thank you for the tips and the humor.
You are so welcome! And thank you for your kind words! Blessings!❤️
It's so hard to work so hard and I'm worn-out and others find fault with zero solutions. Thank you for this channel.
You are so welcome! And thank you so much for watching!❤️
Awww you are so precious! I had never seen you before! I really enjoyed your 10 hacks!
I'm only 64 with health issues having a rough time doing any detail cleaning.....thank you😊❤😊
Thanks, Linda - great tips!!
Those angle brooms for other tasks are great. So are the disinfectant wipes for outside of toilet.
Love your you tube. Understand how hard to do things now. Turning 85 this summer.
Wow! Happy birthday early! So happy to have you in our community. Blessings on you today!❤️
Awesome tips! Thank you 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally someone who gets it! This is so encouraging. Especially about the happy heart. I'll be thinking of you next time I clean my "one thing". That's my speed, too. You are a beautiful person!
Oh my! Your kind words have made my day! Thank you so much your support! I really appreciate it. Blessings on you today!❤️
Thank you just found your video young lady God bless you and your family 💗🌷👏🙏👍
I found that using an O’Cedar mop has been amazing for me. It works great for the floors, baseboards, and even the walls. It is good for reaching those cobwebs also. Make sure that you have most of the water out of the mop to make it lighter (damp). Just my thought.
So happy to find you! Thanks for these tips. I’m 71 & have MS & am struggling to keep a neat & clean house. Your tips are great!
Welcome and so happy to have you! My prayers are with you. ❤️
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! And especially thanks for watching and commenting. I so appreciate it! Be blessed today.!
Thank you, GOOD ideas. God bless.
Thank you for your kind words and WELCOME! So happy to have you! Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it. Blessings!❤️
You are amazing, thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind words! And WELCOME to the family! So happy to have you! Blessings! ❤️
Awesomeness! Thank you! I'm not a senior but I have mobility issues and these tips will really help me out! I also love your look in fuchsia! It's your color!
Why thank you ma’am!! ❤️
@@LiveandLaughwithLinda-jy7po Thank you
These are great ideas. I will certainly try these out. I have arthritis in my back, SI joints, hips, and hands, so these ideas will certainly help. I am from North Florida too! Thank you! ❤😊
Welcome fellow Floridian! Thanks for watching and commenting! I so appreciate it! Blessings!❤️
WOW. Love your channel ✌🏼 Great tips 🌷🌷🌷
Great ideas thank you
I'm not trying to discourage you, but I didn't hear anything new except when you said you get your husband to help you, that was golden, I loved it, you are a very likeable person you will do very well.
The big tongs idea was new. I use them to reach things in cabinets too. I call them tweezers. The Dirt Devil recommendation was appreciated. Baseboard cleaning with the cloth covered clean cheap broom is something I will try.
Good energy!
Excellent ideas!
I have used a cover for the broom for many years. Thanks for the other tips.
My mom did that, too. And she used a sponge mop to wash the walls in our porch.
Love the matching outfit!
I've learned putting several extra trash bags in the can at once saves a few trips keep a few in the bottom of the can perfect esp for bedrooms bathroom etc
I do that too! Good tip! Thanks!
👀👍🏽😍-short cuts really do help! At 67 always been an active over wanting a clean home! Not sure if it’s anxiety but now at 67 find myself overwhelmed dead tired at end day! Always find something detailed to have clean & constantly! My hands hurt !! Need to slow down ! I’ve got no one to clean after just myself! Can’t blame it’s someone’s else dirt just my small puppy!! 🙏🏽’s to OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST to guide me everyday ! AMEN
I understand and can certainly relate! Thank you for watching and sharing! I appreciate it. Blessings!❤️

Hi from Kansas City! I love your perky attitude, and enjoyed this video! Thanks so much!❤❤
Thank you ma’am and thanks for watching! Blessings!❤️
I compost. Love it.
Thank you for your time and effort. And you can get a broom like that at the
Dollar tree $1.25
Thanks.
Hi! I have just found you on FB and already adore you! Your tips are spot on! That good ole Southern accent is the icing on the cake said this NC gal! Can't wait to see more of your videos!! Bye y'all!!
Welcome! So happy you joined our family! Yep, I’m about as Southern as God makes em! 🤣. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. I so appreciate it. Be blessed today! ❤️

I loved your tips and your energy 😍
Thanks and thank you so much for watching!❤
Hello, please try Organic, Hexane free, Cold pressed Castor Oil, in a dark, glass bottle. Rub it into wherever you have pain in your joints. Fushi is a good brand, but any brand that ticks all 4 boxes works. If it doesn't say Hexane free on the bottle, it's not. The results are miraculous. Please try it, give it 3 days, a little goes a long way. It really works. God bless you. New subscriber here from Ebgland. ❤❤❤
Good to know!! I’ll look into it. Thanks for watching and commenting! I so appreciate it. Blessings on you today!❤️
@@LiveandLaughwithLinda-jy7poHello! You won't regret it. Please let me know how you get on. Then you can share the good news in a video. So many are suffering needlessly. God bless you 🙏💕
Thank you for the info! I tried castor oil, it did nothing for me. I will try it again!! Thanks again❤️
Good tips. Thank.
0:17 You had me at LAZY PEOPLE 😁 Solid Gold: 7:48 EXACTLY 😅
Right there with ya!!! 🤣 thank you so much for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it! Blessings!❤️
Ok great vid thanks so much for the cool post ☮️🙋🏼♀️🌴
I love your attitude 😊❤. Nice tips 👍🏾
Thank you!! ❤️
So many great tips. JUST love you.
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words and support! Blessings!❤️
Great tips 👍🏼 Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!❤️
So glad I found your channel. I have been looking for something for seniors. I just turned 70 a couple weeks ago so we are the same age😊
Welcome! So happy you joined us. Be blessed today!❤️
Great tips!
Thank you, I have week hands too, from surgery. I have a heart condition that makes it hard to do much
I love the smell of the old cleaning products.
I can still remember the round flat tin can with solid wax furniture polish.. Was it lavender? Could smell it for a few days.. So clean and relaxing.
Yes, I agree. The smell of the products from the past makes the cleaning seem twice as clean!!!
Que linda. Muchas gracias . Bendiciones.
New viewer here. I’m in central Florida and my daughter and her family are in north Florida. I appreciate the cleaning hacks, I’m a young 77 and still work 2 days a week and can use all the tips.
Welcome!! So happy to have a fellow Floridian!! Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it. Blessings!❤️
Greetings from New Zealand, What a lovely cheer germ you are and, i am grateful for your tips. Alas, we have totally different appiliances in NZ, likewise brooms and mops.Thank you for making me smile.
Thank you and welcome New Zealand friend!! Happy to have you! 😍
A back scratcher works for reaching items high above or deep into the fridge under the dresser or bed. Just about any where .
OMG! You are so fun! I love all the Y’all’s.
Well, thank you!! Yes, i’m about as Southern as God makes em, and yes, I do love to have fun and to laugh, which is the point of my whole channel. So glad to have you and thank you for watching and commenting! I so appreciate it. Be blessed today!❤️
Great ideas
Love the tips, already do a few of them; great minds think alike. I would like to add one: Don’t tuck the bed sheets in. For two reasons, one it takes time and energy, two if you have leg cramps in the middle of the night, trying to get out of bed to stand is easier when they aren’t tucked in. If you want to keep the sheets from migrating too much tuck one foot corner in.
Great tip!! Thank you!❤️
I really learned alot. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!❤️
I looooove your glasses. It really makes you look good. I was debating getting one of the new large glasses and we look about the same age and I didn’t know if I would look weird with them. lol You made me realize I would look HAPPY with them soooo….. I love your video! -Susan
Go for it! You’ll love them! Thanks for watching!❤️
You're great! You made me smile Linda 😊. I didn't realise that people in the US actually say "y'all" I love it! (I'm in the UK 🙂). I've subscribed!
Thank you so much for subbing AND for your kind words! Well, I’m about as Southern as God makes ‘‘em and we sure enough do say y’all! Thanks again and Blessings to you and yours!❤️
Only people in the south! The rest of us speak proper English.😊
Oh my goodness, you have a beautiful energy. It shines through...subscribed ❤
Thank you so much! And welcome! So happy to have you! Blessings!❤️
My vac quit. 2nd one that quit. I’ve used my shop vac for years now. Not too heavy and works!
I use a long handled mop to clean our tub. It works pretty good too. I alse use a 34 inch long grabber reacher to pull clothes out of the dryer. Denture tablets do a great job inside toilets. We learn ways to get around our health challenges. 🙂
Thank you. Your tips make such practical sense. I'll see you next time, your new subscriber, Louise
Welcome Louise!!! So happy to have you! I have a new video coming soon hopefully this weekend, I’m working on it. Blessings on you and yours today!❤️
Hi, Linda! I just found your channel with this video today and subscribed because you seem so cheerful and fun. I was also surprised that we clean in the same ways (we have the same list)!😁
Welcome! So happy to have you! And thanks for subbing! I really appreciate it! Blessings!❤️
Excellent video! I have arthritis in my fingers too and never thought of the tongs-laundry thing. Really nice presentation.
Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting! Arthritic hands are certainly a pain (literally) especially since I play the piano for a living (piano teacher). But
Whoops, didn’t finish. Anyway, any hack is so helpful. Be blessed. ❤️
I'm talking about getting in the bottom of cabinets
and the bottom of stove.
I'm realizing how great it would be to have my oven in the wall and the Microwave.
I emphasize with your Arthuritus. My brother was so cripped with Arthuritus it was so very sad.
Well,
Thank You
Your a Love lady..
I'm glad I watched your video.
Thank you! And thanks for watching and commenting! I so appreciate it! Blessings!❤️
New subscriber. Thank you for the video. Blessings to you.

Hello Linda, I've just subscribed and am planning to get myself some of those things you use. You have some very good ideas. I love a clean house but am finding everything a struggle now. I've known for a while that I need to go about things in a different way now I'm dealing with severe health issues but I didn't know how. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. God bless you. ❤ Vera in Northern Ireland
