    I tried Jura 30 at a Whisky festival and it was simply amazing. Naturally, not forking out 440 Euro for a bottle, but it's the most unique flavour I ever had.

    I've once had a Jura Prophecy (very recognizable packaging), 4-5 years ago, and I remember thinking "this isn't half-bad", but I do not remember tasting notes, and I was at the very beginning of my whiskey journey. I am now going to try out the Jura 18, as where I get it, it's priced at 48 EUR. If this ends up a 7/10 for me - the iced tea notes do sound appealing - it's a win, I think.

      I think the 48 eur is a great price. I'd be happy with that for sure.

    Agree only had the journey was slightly different than the norm in a peachy sense , have you tried black bottle for me an interesting daily at £14-16 , had a nice slight bitter note

    As far as the new range goes, I have only tried the 10 and the 12. I like the 12, but find the 10 a bit lacking... From the old range, my favorite was the Elixir. I will be trying the Seven Wood eventually, as I picked up a bottle last night...

    Nice review, and I did see this one around £50 on the amazon prime sale during the week. If I hadn’t over spent on my whisky budget I might have gone for it. I have a Jura superstition among my open bottles and agree it’s a nice one. Just taking my time with that one . I’ll look out for your seven wood review as that one seems quite interesting .

    I noticed the other week that Sainsburys do 'Jura Red Wine Cask' £40 1l bottle which am tempted by.

    Still trying wrapping my head around the Jura 12 I've got. Initially, not my jam. Giving it some time, though. I enjoyed the old 16 and Superstition. Just saw a bottle of the Superstition at a shop for the same price here as the 12. May have to snap that one up. Cheers, Vin!

      Get that superstition while you can! I would definitely be happy to have another bottle of that.

    This is tasty stuff very moreish but would genuinely love to see what colour the 18 years of oak and red wine would give it but we can't because they chuck cheap colouring in there sadly.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  5 месяцев назад +1

      For the £50 I paid for it, I can't fault it (apart from the colour as you said). I hope Jura starts putting things out that have a bit more appeal

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky we ? Did you half in for it ? Not heard of summerten club I don't do any subscriptions but would with more funds. Have you tried the jura14 Rye yet ? I've been getting into my lochranza and sou wester arran blends but saving my glenmorangie 14 and fingals cut quarter cask for as long as possible I like having them in my collection they look great on the shelf but doesn't feel the same when they're empty feel like a hoarder but I do do it with some like the beautiful ben nevis 8 yr Macdonald Glencoe with it's fine oak cork and classic labels and box in brown bottle it's rare very hard to get now so I keep it though its empty. I wouldn't have opened it if I realized how rare it was going to become. My girlfriend got me it from the Glencoe visitor centre was the last bottle left .£50 .

    Nice honest review Vin. I've sussed out your plan... you're just gonna keep slating them till they send you the 21 year old? Tbf I'm not the biggest jura fan either. Needs much bigger abv and some viscosity IMHO.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky
      @NoNonsenseWhisky  3 года назад +1

      😂 well I'm pretty sure they would send it to me if I asked for it, but I'll never do that. If they offer it freely however, I'll give it a whirl haha.
      I just hope they are listening and start putting something out that's a bit more interesting

      @@NoNonsenseWhisky On a different note, I have ordered a cask of whisky from Mackmyra. (58 botles) I want to keep a half dozen for my collection, but if you send me your address I will send you a bottle to taste and maybe review (no obligation) so that others who buy a whole cask can have some feedback on the quality. My email: sjardine37@yahoo.com. www.thebeachhutman.co.uk. I build beach huts in Sussex and so my whisky is called 'Beach Hut Man'! (Mackmyra, ' elegant recipe', swedish oak cask#2015, 6yr old, ABV 48.1%). My mobile is 07876 174801. Cheers.

    Jura's pants. That said, their 16 and prophecy for £30 just about held it together but not the sort of stuff to revisit. Like you pointed out, plenty of better drams for the money.

    £70 for an 18 year old isn't bad at all... unless it's from Jura 😂
    I've tried this when it first came out and thought it was okay, but felt more like a 15 year old than an 18 year old. Like you, I probably wouldn't buy it.
    Also agree that they should bring out a Superstition-esque bottling again as I enjoyed that one and always had a bottle of it when it was available.
