Had this as a present and I pretty much agree with you about it being easy to drink and good for the price, but nothing that's going to wow you. I have tried the older ones and they were definitely better.
This is the whisky i dislike the most of all the whiskies I've tried, it really disappointed me! Great video though, i like to see how it differs for different people. Keep up the good work
Just found your channel. I'm originally from Kentucky in the United States so Kentucky Bourbon is in the blood. I've just started getting seriously exposed to Scotch within the past year. There's some exciting stuff out there but also a bunch of junk with marketing. New Subscriber here for sure. Keep up the good work
Welcome to the channel! Great to hear you're exploring the wider whisky world. I'm a huge fan of bourbon as well as scotch and theres a huge world of flavour to discover
Liked your honest opinion on this jura Vin. The only core range jura I like ( and i've had a few)is the superstition, if I saw it in a shop somewhere I would actually buy it.
I haven't seen this entry level Jura, but I have the 10 and the 12... I also have my old favorite, the Elixir, now discontinued as far as I can tell, 12 years old, bottled at 46% ABV, and I can still obtain it easily.
I got it for my birthday too. I think it's like apple strudel in a bottle, though pear drops have developed over time. I am curious whether it is representative of other Juras since it's far too candied for my personal taste
I’ve only tried the supermarket variations of Jura, none of them excite me. From what I hear the IB version of Jura are good which is always a shame when core range doesn’t show how good their whisky can be
I have no time for Whyte & Mackay. All their distilleries have so much potential but they are given little respect by the parent company. Tamnavulin, near Tomintoul distillery, produces a light floral fruity new-make but is ruined by poor cask selection. Try and pick up some old Tamnavulin 12 bottles from the 1990s, still available at auction for very reasonable prices, matured in Ex-Bourbon barrels, they were superb. Jura has such potential. Great location, history and distillery, ruined by poor casks and bottling at the lowest common denominator, 40% abv and chill-filtered and smothered in caramel colouring within an inch of its life!. Dalmore shouldn't even be termed whisky, it's more like sherry-whisky blend liquors. Fettercairn also makes great Eastern Highlands new-make but ruined by a parent company policy who thinks it is still living in the 1980s when Blends are all that matter! If only a billionaire whisky lover would buy the company, sack the management and invest some real money into these grand old distilleries that deserve to be brought into the 21st century.
It's funny you should mention all that (and I agree). I got a call from someone I know who now works for W&M and they are keen to show me some expressions that will change my opinion of them. Bring it on. Of course, full transparency when those reviews show up
@@NoNonsenseWhisky If only. We can only hope and pray. Tamnavulin 12 from the 1990s was seriously tasty stuff. I still have two bottles left from 4 bottles I bought in a store in Jerusalem. They had been sitting there for over 20 years.
I´m happy I only got a 20 cl of this one. Tasting it for the first time today. Not bad taste. Spicy, and a tiny bit of banana??, but the only thing I get out of the nose is sweaty socks and a tiny bit of vanilla. I’m by no means an expert, but this one is not for me.
Great summary review. Not tried the Jura Journey, I have a bottle to open, but was looking to give it as a raffle prize. I think I’ll probably stick with the 10, Jura isn’t a brand I’m endearing to right now, can’t put my finger on why.
Having seen the stuff you have for review I can say you aren't missing out by giving it away. It'd be a shame not to get your 2p worth on a review though. I agree with the brand. It's like they're intentional ignoring whisky enthusiasts with their marketing
I was given a bottle for father's day , for the price its not too bad, like you said not very complex , for what it costs don't expect something that's gonna make you go wow. If you are starting off on the whisky road this is a good direction to go for a first journey, pardon the pun.
Absolutely, I doubt it'll put anyone off who is interested in whisky. Certainly not terrible. I'll enjoy sipping the rest of the bottle on casual evenings
Can you believe that someone who calls himself the American Scotch Doctor has never tried any Jura variations. I’ve always been turned off because of other people’s comments, the color added, heavy / likely chill filtration, the general low ABV and the fact that there are thousands of other bottles to pick from. The same reason you don’t know if you will have another Jura reviewed soon is why I haven’t tried it. I should though... just for the education. The Doctor needs to finish his degree!!! Also. Nice video.
That's a great comment 😂 I think you've hit the nail there. I think every reviewer needs to be open to trying and critically assessing absolutely everything. They're definitely worth a try.
I agree. The presentation of most of their range is in a very 'money grabby' way and I'm not a fan of that. I'll definitely try the rest of the range for the channel if I can
Wouldn't even put this down my drain,,poor stuff just like alot of whisky that comes from the Patterson stable just as bad as dalmore,,sorry just my opinion,,cheers to you though vin,🥃🥃
I'm drinking Jura Journey RN and your review is quite accurate. I'm curious about the 10 yr aged bottles.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Had this as a present and I pretty much agree with you about it being easy to drink and good for the price, but nothing that's going to wow you. I have tried the older ones and they were definitely better.
Definitely a drinkable one, but I can't help but reach past it everytime I fancy a dram

I think I would too. It was definitely the last reasonable Jura I tried

I'm sure you'll get it at some point, though I think you're probably better off with the selection you have haha
@@NoNonsenseWhisky I find myself agreeing with you...
Superstition was the most varied malt I have ever tried. Loved some bottles, others could not get on with at all
It's a shame, I really like the superstition. I'm not sure if any of the new range is an equivalent to it
I dont think so
Yeah I would have to agree with that.
Jura is my favourite!
I got it for my birthday too. I think it's like apple strudel in a bottle, though pear drops have developed over time. I am curious whether it is representative of other Juras since it's far too candied for my personal taste
Been one on the to do thanks I'll get one after the Lidl Islay
Yeah definitely no rush for it.
I get a sweet caramel and cocoa taste from it, with a mellow peppery finish. I enjoy it. Great decanter whiskey!
A few months ago Lidl had it for sale for £18.99, bargain
To be fair that would be a no brainer purchase. Great price
I’ve only tried the supermarket variations of Jura, none of them excite me. From what I hear the IB version of Jura are good which is always a shame when core range doesn’t show how good their whisky can be
I would love to try some IB Jura. It's on my list to find some

A shame it wasn't from first-fill casks 😁. Great video as always mate.
Big shame. I believe Jura have it in their power to create something of great quality. Maybe one day we'll see it
I don’t see why Jura don’t play on the peat influence as they are the next Island from Islay.
I agree. They should have at least one in the range that has some peat in it.
To me, this is a yummy whisky.
just picked up a bottle for £22 thought it was really nice nothing special but easy to drink
Have a hard time with Jura, tried the 21y and it was quit good but the 30y was really good😋
The rest i have tried was not for me😬
I haven't managed to try any of the 'fancy' ones yet but I look forward to the opportunity for sure

Yo I can buy this for like 12.52 pounds in my country (+ shipping). Yes or nah?
Seems cheap enough to give it a go. I had a wee sip of it last night and it's just fine
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Thanks for the quick reply! I'll give it a try.

I have not chased down a Jura in a while. This sounded ok, but not a must buy.
Exactly where I'd peg it

@@NoNonsenseWhisky its like everything, you need something that's not bad to entice you back to try something a little bit better.
What is your favourite whiskey
A tough one to pin down. For an affordable favourite I'd probably go Clynelish 14 or Kilkerran 12
@@NoNonsenseWhisky Have you tried any from the Isle of arran? And thanks for the reply i will be sure to check those out
Yeah I quite like an Arran. Never owned a bottle though so I haven't managed to review them on the channel. Hopefully will eventually though

Not a fan of jura style 40% chill filterd and e150. I tryed the 16 and whas not a fan

Rather have a focus on the integrety malts, i belive yore Chanel wil grow more =)
Agreed there! Though I like to cover a good mix so people know what to avoid as well as what to buy
The 7 wood was interesting and quite enjoyable. The rest is very meh.
I'm pretty I've tried it but can't quite remember it. Does sound interesting though!

It's a very valid opinion
