    I haven’t tried much Jura, to be honest I wouldn’t pick up anything from Whyte and MacKay. I’ve seen this in the Supermarket and I wouldn’t pay £38 for it never mind over £50. I know Jura is a big seller but I’ve never seen anything positive about any of their bottles to sway me into a purchase.
    The recent Douglas Laing Old Particular got some superb feedback, so there is definitely good liquid being produced at the distillery, it’s just a shame we don’t get to try it at its best.

      Yeah there's not much here to convince someone to come back to the brand unfortunately. Ive yet to try an indie Jura but I'd like to!

      No Nonsense Whisky I doubt it, but I would love someone from W&M to read the comments etc. Nobody has had a good word to say about Jura recently and they really need a boot up the arse.
      There’s not many distilleries I would put behind Jura, and even at that they would have at least one bottle I’d buy again.... apart from Bowmore.

    Got a sample of this at home and think that will be it really. Dont know but I cant see the point in maturing a whisky in seven different types of casks. As I said before the only jura that I actually like is the superstition.

    solid and honest work Vin , as we'd expect. Have you considered mentioning you're not overly excited about Kilchoman, Balblair, Tamdhu, Glencadam, Caol Ila, Arran or Springbank?

  • @simplyespresso1364
    @simplyespresso1364 4 года назад +1

    When this first came out it sat on Morrisons shelves for months at it's original retail price of over £50. At that time I could get the Springbank 12 CS for cheaper and tbh there are so many other great whiskies you can get for under £50 ie. Kilkerran 12, Hazelburn 10, Springbank 10, Longrow NAS etc, etc, which is why I never bothered to get it. Even at £38 I would pass on this. Cheers for the review.

    Great review Vin! Easygoing is the perfect way to describe the Juras that I’ve tried. I thought the Superstition was decent, but it lacked depth and complexity. I think if they bottled at higher a.b.v.s they would attract and retrain customers. I would be curious to know what this would be like at 46% with no chill filtration.

    • @NoNonsenseWhisky

      Absolutely. I can only assume we're not the target audience in the current state. Maybe the 18 will be different when I try that soon

    FF (fast forward) to 2022 : it is hard to like J7w too much, abit pricey - but one pays for the intricate process (all French woods used here are from Grand Cru houses of wine !). W&McK also puts out a 6wood Dalmore King ALex III for triple the price : so, this is a BARGAIN ! ! - - - compare them and you shall see what I mean

    Diffrent prices on the same spirit product won't ever happen in Sweden, because of the monopoly. Sevenwood is about 78 euro here.

    Comparing this to the likes of other Whyte & Mackay single malts Tamnavulin and Dalmore it’s definitely more disappointing. Although Tamnavulin isn’t great. The price of their whisky makes up for it.
