Captain got the Porsche, got the Rolex, got the fancy geetars... but ain’t got no ship what a Captain!
Oh.. I don't know... I think he navigates the ship Andertons just fine... top U.K. Retailer, one of the top EU retailers, with the help of Chappers (or really the Monkey Lord at the time), he started internet videos and marketing long before it was really a thing, not to mention the multitude of informative 'opinion' videos on guitars and gear. You know the... "here is what it sounds like" and if he, and/or Chappers liked/disliked it - not really a "it's good/bad" which I appreciate, as everyone has their own tastes. Then the actual starting and investing in their own RUclips channel...
In the end, I'd say he's sailing that ship rather well! As evidenced by the Porsche, Rolex, and multi-Thousand £ guitars! 😏✌🏼
K1SFD ooh tasty, couldn’t have said it better, rock on!
He is the fine captain of the grant ship Andertons
😂😂😂
PRS have given all of us a gift. The commitment to quality has pushed the industry to follow. Especially at the mid to entry price points.
When Paul asked "are you selling any of these?" at 1:20 you can read Lee's mind while he's thinking "no but I'm looking for a diplomatic answer here" haha
Yeah, you could see him trying to brush it away and change the topic...
@@Nj1498 hahaha yes
😂😂😂😂
Yep...deer in headlights!
I think he was referring to the new models which he doesn't have many of yet.
Even though I don't own a PRS , I have to say Paul is my favorite owner/builder all of the above . I don't see very many PRS guitars in my local shops . I still remember him giving out guitars after the Nashville flood . He is the type of MAN , men should strive to be !
My house just floated away but thanks for the Guitar!
@@robertl1135 I'd probably trade my POS house for one of those nice guitars honestly.
@@TELE6220
Altruism is a creepy concept to dogshit like you.
If only PRS would stop using rosewood, so I could go back to PRS. PRS genuinely are the best guitars I have ever played, and Paul himself is just an amazing person.
I absolutely love Andertons interviews with Paul. Always fantastic. You bring out the best in him
The Captain is the only person that can interview PRS and keep up with him and it not be awkward.
I look forward to this video every year.
Whenever the two of you get together it's always the best chat. Not just guitars but the human side as well. Cheers!
Will ALWAYS make it to the end of an interview with Mr Reed Smith! Such a nice guy!
Larry David!
Nope. It's Paul. I always get those two confused.
That was rather more civil than I'm used to from those two. They're usually cattier than that.
i was about to comment exactly that
I always love it when you and Paul get together. You are hilarious together.
I really love when the cap is doing the interviews .... he does let the people talk!
Ricardo Coya you could always watch another channel...
Learnt so many new things that have nothing to do with guitars from this interview
I like how excited he got when he said "it's a single coil" when asked about hum cancelling. That's how I feel, the hum is part of what makes a single coil great.
Great interview. Love the “not your typical interview thingy” you both have.
Paul is such a passionate guy and it comes through in all his guitar builds. He also is a great storyteller and natural salesman.
Capt lee you're the classiest chap at NAMM,
In 30 years, thats thr first time I've ever heard Paul Reed Smith speaking, he seems like great crac.
Fun video. PRS makes great guitars, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful Playing and Gorgeous Guitar
Nice to see Lee talking about his personal life, I'm a guitar, watch car guy too...
Always a good interview, interesting that he didn’t plug the SE Paul’s guitar. I can’t wait for that video :)
10 minutes into the video, I suddenly reflect "what am I watching???" I got lost in your conversation with PRS, so random but nice to see 2 genuine guys not trying to sell you stuff for a minute. LOVE THE VIDEOS LEE!
cool interwiew everytime these 2 get together! !
The captain is the only one who knows how to steer PRS at an interview
lol the Captain steered his ship beautifully through rough waters!!
Rick Beato's interview with PRS was also good!
@@aciek and edited xD
oh boy! here we go again!
The customized guitar challenge was your best video! You should do more like it!!!! PLEASE!!!
I can't believe I live in the DC area and did not pay Paul Reed Smith factory a visit yet.
Do it!!! It’s no that far and the drive is scenic when you approach Kent Island. But be careful right after the visit , I stopped at the GC in Rockville and purchased an incredible used old CE.
Sameeeeee
You have to go! It's seriously cool to visit the factory, and they do the tours in small 10-15 person crowds.
I'm 3 miles away from that Guitar Center. They have the biggest collection of PRS on the east coast. I use to spend one hour every Saturday over there when my daughter was taking her piano lesson.
You are not even an hour away! Get over there!
Guitars, watches, and cars........yup, I’m in that group. Mr. Smith is a cool dude and has some amazing products. Thank you Sir.
The interviews with Paul are my favourite.
Great video both on good form
Funny story call your stood work for the company I work before he ever built his 1st guitar. He is a heck of a nice guy this was a fun video to watch.
He's a passionate genius who loves what he does. We should all be so lucky. His products are exceptional. His efforts have required other manufacturers to focus on QC. He continues to innovate. Enjoy him while he's here. His effect on the industry will be long lasting, but his time frame for hands on changing and improving is limited even if he does it into his 80s
.
“I got that part.” I love Paul. He is the same guy all the time.
PRS is a cool man who makes cool guitars. Thankyou sir I hope oneday I'll own one of those John Mayer ones
It’s a really good guitar! I recommend all fender folks give it a run. Well built, sounds really good and fun as hell to play!
Thanks Paul!
Dave Evans used right now. Red and mint $1800. Plus, I’m sure you could take a hundred off maybe if the sellers nice. Not bad. I’d rather have s Fender and I do.
That Paul's guitar model sounds sick!
I think it was interesting hearing about the recording gear he found, would have been fun to hear more about that too.
I have a PRS, exotic timber limited run Custom 24 with Floyd and Suhr Aldrich pickups. It’s so beautiful 😍 and SHREDS! The man is a genius..:
I love how the captain didnt mention the shootout where he said the prs sounded worse than the epiphone hahaha
That was a dumb, anti-scientific "blind taste test." The captain was obviously fattening the scores of guitars that had the telltale Les Paul shape. Not only that, blindly fumbling around on a guitar for a few seconds doesn't tell you much about how the guitar plays or whether you're going to have a long term appreciation for the tone (And I'm a Gibson player by the way; I don't have a PRS.)
@@profd65 also he was clearly looking for a Les Paul sound from all comments he said
@profd65 i just thought it was funny that he trashed his PRS thats all
profd65 You can justify it however you want, and I’m not even saying you are totally wrong. Doesn’t change the fact it did not look good for PRS.
I got that green acoustic a couple weeks ago the neck on those are really nice
Congratulations, I think they look sweet. Hope it sounds great.
Yeah man! Coil splitting has come a long way these days especially for PRS guitars! Sounds like a legit single coil to me. Good work Paul. I also like the new Silver sky colors and the new more affordable SE version of Pauls guitar. Rock on!
After watching this im thinking of getting a PRS, the humbucker singlecoil model sounds so good. I like PRS personality, not taking things too seriously and having fun with it.
Spot on about the watch/guitar connection. Ask Clapton, he is a crazy watch guy.
Lee I absolutely take my hat off to you..you have the patience of a saint.. I understand the professional relationship you have to have with PRS but Paul... " I wonder if you have any idea of the breadth of intelligence that the viewers of Andertons tv have..." you patronising, gum chewing, disrespectful, rude...rude man. This is absolutely the last interview I ever watch with PRS.
Love the side talk about the similarity with watches and guitars. I play may Gibson Les Paul Tribute with a Panerai 312 on my wrist. There’s a passionate nerdy culture that follows both worlds as well. For guitars and pedals it’s GAS, for watches it’s WIS. Joe Bonamassa is a watch guy too like JM, who was spotted wearing a gold AP Royal Oak at NAMM.
I love that Lee is a watch guy... Didn't see it coming!
"I mean look; you`re the wikipedia of guitars, I am not the wikipedia of train tracks." xD PRS quote of the year!
I don’t “get” the envy shown in some of the comments. They both earned their pile of money and they can do what they like with it. And no, I neither own nor lust after a PRS.
It's simple. People are just jealous
Perceptive comment - I have friends who own businesses and have nice houses / cars / whatever.
I really do feel that they are entitled to those nice things because they work like DOGS to get those things.
The internet was invented so that we can have our annual Paul + Lee Weirdo conversation
Captain knows really well how to handle professional interviews, specially to Paul. 👍
paul is right. best channel on youtube :)
Funny the watch is being mentioned again. I asked him about it in the live stream they did in the Mustang :-D
I want a PRS just because of Paul. Added bonus the guitars are amazing quality. I'm ashamed in myself that I don't have a PRS yet.
Paul is such a nice guy, always a pleasure to see him interviewed.
Are you on mind altering drugs Simon? Or being sarcastic???
Lol, best comedy of the day 😅.
What I love about this pair is Paul is one of the only people who can spar w/ the Captain’s wit.
I'm digging the green stained back and sides
Anyone else love the watch talk? I feel like watches and grade a guitarists go hand in hand. Its especially funny he mentions mayer loving watches cause I almost feel like he had to pick up a bit of that after he met clapton. You ever see clapton or anyone who is playing with him and theyre all wearing watches.
Met Paul in Belgium with Bernie Madsen. He was very nice. Great guitars of course. Cheers
PRS guitars are amazing 😉
PRS makes amazing guitars, it compensates to the way he is
The new stained back acoustics look mint if you ask me. 👌
I’d wish PRS would have discussed why he prefers on his guitar a solid body vs semi-hollow and why he prefers the 25” scale vs the 24.594” scale. I’ve heard him explain his preference for a wrap around bridge. Good to see more models available in the SE line.
fun fact. what Paul said about train tracks being the same width as a carriage is true. But how did they come up with the width of the carriages? Two horses asses. The wheels had to be wider than the horses so when the wheels made grooves in the road the horses wouldn't trip. So train tracks are just wider than two horses asses.
Love Paul ...great character and innovator....if you haven't read the history behind the guy then read it....I understood him more once I read it ....
That guitar Paul had for himself, that would be nice vi have, first prs i even think this , Good :)
While PRS is next on my acquisition list (damn that G.A.S!), I don't think it's going to be that one.... at least not in that green color. I think the marbling of the wood is absolutely beautiful though. Not too sure if I like it on the sides and back, but... you know... I think this is why there are more than one variation of each guitar model and type in the world. Everyone seems to have different tastes! 😂 ✌🏼
I like his guitars a lot, now I like the man, too...😁
One do it all pup is the holy grail because people are very skeptical and resistant to new things, not because it can’t happen. It’s the rejection preventing the achievement, even though many say they wish it was so.
All the people on here whining about Smith, the guy is a genius, Carlos Santana uses his axes, case closed really.
PRS = best guitars
THAT'S IT!!! A Rolex amp-on-the-arm; all analog, 12AX7's, nixie tube display. $30K in stainless, $60K in gold plate. Your choice of Marshall, Orange, or Vox voicing. Available only at Anderton's, of course.
I gotta admit the Paul’s PRS sounds great.
Why is it that watching any interview with PRS is so painful? He's a mosquito bite personified.
tollan23 he’s annoying as hell and arrogant too but he makes a good guitar. I however won’t buy one.
@Mike G he's "so terrible at playing guitar" lol please let's hear you then ...
Wow, Porsche...being a better off Englishman than most I would of pegged you as an Aston Martin man!
You guys are a bit snappy at each other (Lee and Paul) it's hilarious.
Cool
@@TELE6220 PRS are cool
New rolex explorer on Amazon $6000 and up. You can get a pre owned one for around $5000.
Andertons Tv is the PRS of youtube videos.
Paul is the Steve Jobs of guitars.
You tube gold
So The captain is a fellow watchaholic!
I tought that you only had the Explorer, as we see it in every video.
I would love to know the other ones you have :)
Nice explorer Lee, i think you have it 4 years now
I kind of admire Paul for being unapologetically a salesman, but also see something slimy about him
Lee said in another video that he didn't like that green back acoustic.
Lee is very traditional in regards to guitars.
@@Lord_Swoledemort yeah. But the idea is that when Paul asked him about it he didn't say that he didn't like it.
Not sure about Mr Smith as a person. Obviously I don’t know him, I’m sure he’s a nice guy but he doesn’t come over well in any of his interviews.
i find him very off putting....
He seems a little creepy :/
Like urban park maniac creepy
He has that 'something of an asshole' personality that is coherant with running a multi-million dollar international enterprise. His private persona is probably somewhat different.
Agreed he just wants to sell guitars. Since PRS stopped making the models I liked I lost interest in them. I want good playing functional guitars.
The first time I ever saw him was on Andertons and I thought he was a difficult, egomaniacal asshole. But having seen a few of his interviews since then i must say i warmed to his ways. He still is a difficult, egomaniacal asshole but in a good way, its part of his eccentric charm.
At 2:53 which model is that and the amp used? Thanks in advance. Jim
When are Andertons expecting stock of these Paul's guitar SE models. I ordered one days ago and still there's no sign of it arriving.
He owns a company that makes the best guitars money can buy, cool!.
Oh good, a vid I can instaskip.
I thought it was an omega at the beginning, but a explorer, that's taste.
The most awkward duo ever. I thought I wouldn't see them together after PRS thought the Captain said he doesn't practice enough, yet here we are.
Did you get the Porsche Cayenne with the 3.0 TDI or the 4.2 TDI engine, Captain?
I tell you man
It's always the strangest weirdest interviews with PRS!
Ha! That was some entertaining sub-textual jousting and banter. XD
So is that the only PRS guitar that has a decent split coil sound?
Been a PRS guy for 2 years now (check my unboxing vid) and I'm never looking back. I love Gibsons...don't get me wrong, but my PRS is just so much easier to play, and 3 POUNDS LIGHTER. My old back likes that.
Once again, larry david as paul reed smith
Wow... I read the Capitalism meets Paul Reed Smith at Namm 2019
Was expecting things to get really heated between these two (based on the silversky video). Really nice how they just ended up having a friendly chat haha
The Paul guitar is winner winner chicken dinner.
0:41 deep breath as The Capt. looks at the colour...
