I like Paul a lot. He's an opinionated guy & some people don't like that, but the more I've gotten to know him, the more I know how to take him & the more I enjoy his company. I find it refreshing in an industry increasingly owned by corporates that tow a vanilla company communication line, that Paul is still happy to say what he believes no matter who he pisses off! And he does know how to make a good guitar.
CaptAnderton
You had to be strong to keep control of that one!! I can see the mutual respect you have for each other... And how passionate PRS is about all of his guitars! kinda wished he didn't keep playing over you when you were talking, You seemed a bit nervous when you played too
CaptAnderton I know you're a Rolex guy and a fan of John Mayer. Check out john's interview on Hodinkee. He's got a nice watch collection too.
Lee Mate, you said "Gotten"!!
I wish he actually did speak his mind more as he's at his best when he does. He tempers it with a very corporate need to push his own agenda, and he makes it clear that he does a lot of what he does for the sake of business. The guy has made it, he has a wonderful company selling great guitars, and really doesn't need to compete any further.
I've only met him once, but he really has 'that way' where you can just listen for hours. Even my wife was interested. Really nice guy, even if he thought I was crazy...
I asked him why, if he was a stickler for detail, the model etching on the pickup covers are wrong; the person who does the etching doesn't take into account the pickup being neck or bridge so to me, when they are on the guitar, it is upside down lol
Apparently noone has never told him that...
You can tell Paul is a super nice guy but wow what a hard guy to interview.
Was he there to be interviewed though 🤔
Captain "do you name your guitars"
PRS "yes, i call them Paul Reed Smith"
John Mayer is playing in London on 11 and 12 May - MAKE "The Captain Meeting John Mayer" HAPPEN!
THIS
lbgoh so much yes, this needs to happen
Yes!!! And I'm going to the gig on the 11th
PRS could just call him and make the Cap's dream come true :)
Would be titled "The Captain screams and squeals while John Mayer talks and plays" because hell anyone of us would if it's Mayer! #SomedayCaptWillSoar #SomedayHe'llFly
Mr. Smith can be a bit "pushy" but Mr. Anderton holds his own. One of the best "meets" videos in a while. Thanks Captain!
Lee deserves credit for never slapping Paul after all these interviews.
Better man than myself, Lee.
One of the best interviews I have seen. Love watching Paul get excited about his guitars
Lee, I'm very happy for you recieving the gift from Paul. I don't know you personally, but believe you deserve it. Honesty is a rarity in sales these days, and you always seem to be honest about products you carry. I live in Florida, but will (seriously) order a guitar from your site one day, just to support your efforts. Please keep setting an example for all business owners, regardless of trade. That Paul Reed Smith looks great in your hands! Cherish her!
-Josh, your neighborhood uncultured Yank!
Lee is a multi millionaire and Paul gives him a free guitar?
That's what happens to people that get rich with notoriety....... Unfortunately that's the way that the world goes
Julian Mannino To you ^^^^
Lee is no multi millionaire. He's put everything he has into the business. OK, he lives reasonably comfortably, but he lives on what was a council estate on the northern edge of Guildford, not a hugely desirable address, and he doesn't have a massive collection of gear. The only way you could consider him to be a multi-millionaire is if you include the property and stock vested in the business.
Julian Mannino You're right. Once someone makes a certain amount of money, they shouldn't be allowed to have nice things done for them by their friends.
The Captain, you are AMAZING. I love your videos and this one is already one of my favorites. You talked to one of the most important guys in the Guitar Market. Paul Reed Smith has a lot of knowledge and this talk went very good. You also deserve the recognition for having such an amazing knowledge and ability to talk with him as equals. Nice job.
We love Lee's videos because we love Lee. He honestly loves guitars. His love of guitars comes through and it is contagious.
Seeing all of these guitars was unreal and meeting Paul himself was a blessing! Thank you for signing my PRS Paul! I couldn't be happier. :)
Capt getting super distracted by PRS' constant noodling over the conversation. Quite an awkward video saved by the Captain's excellent interviewing skills.
So do I.. PRS' personality annoys me big time. Love the guitars though :)
I hate Bonamassa-interviews anyway. That giant-headed nerd with a lisp.
I like him, though... But my god is he the coolest NERD... XD
By noodling, he's really saying, "I'm not interested in what you have to say and I can't wait for my turn to talk and try to sell my guitars"... Disrespectful at the least...
being a person likes good sounding guitars, I believe no one can't stop from playing the guitar that sounds great. And I just like the guitar I made myself and cant stop playing. i believe PRS is just like my case. I know that PRS behaves a bit rude, but I can still understand it. I really hope you to meet a guitar that makes you like PRS :) Anyway, that's distracting
I think Capt. learned from the first interview he did with PRS (which was very hard to watch) just to keep going going because he really is paying listening to the question.
What an awesome video. I enjoy these just as much (if not more) than product demo videos. Keep up the great videos Captain!!
Great interview! I just love seeing and hearing those amazing guitars!
next time Lee should play over Paul...see how long Paul tolerates it😁
Was gonna say this!!!!............. love the comment.
Yeah, I thought that was rude as well. Lee handled himself like a gentleman. Not so with the guest. I don't care what his name is. He was rude all the way through this interview..
Sounded like 2 guys that know each other having a casual conversation. You guys sound like hypersensitive Karens.
One of those people who is just waiting for others to finish speaking so he can speak himself. Very little interest in what others have to say. Rather like Chappers!
@@endocry Damn right.
Paul’s like every guitarist ever in a band, when you try to talk to them they just play the pentatonic scale endlessly while staring into your soul
One day soon I'll get a notification for: "The Capt. Meets John Mayer" and it'll be a great day. #gayformayer
Luis Guillermo Martinez Pinzon he's playing in London on the 11-12th may, so maybe he'll do a captain meets then, I really hope this happens
I would sacrifice my left testicle for that to happen.
You're all looking like teenage girls at a One Direction concert. It would be awesome but act cool guys! Its embarrassing.
I wonder if there are any gay girls who are #straightformayer
That is a good question. I haven't heard of any women being into this Mayer-guy.
I love these interviews with Paul, the guy always comes across as a genuinely nice guy, and he clearly is passionate about music, and his instruments. He is also the only guitar maker who (in my opinion) is CAN charge what he does for his instruments. I'd give him my money all day if I could. Love his instruments. Cheers Paul.
Awesome video! I’ve been a lifelong Gibson player, but the passion Paul has for his product, I’ve just placed an order yesterday for a PRS limited run through Andertons! Let’s see how it really is when it arrives today.
Mr PRS seems like bloody hard work, fair play to The Captain for keeping that professional cool..
I've preordered a reclaimed Vela. Can't wait and I hope it actually arrives! It looks and sounds like the guitar of my dreams!!
I have recently become a subscriber to your channel and have to say I really appreciate your videos. They are funny and informative. I was not real familiar with PRS guitars until you and Rob did a few vids. I have to say I want one or two now to add to my collection. They sound great, look great and after Mr. PRS was on I understand his passion and why they are a quality company. I think I will get an SE Custom 24 to start off. Cheers.
I can't believe I'm watching this 5 years after it came out. What a great conversation, with a lot of funny parts. I like Lee's comment "Is it true you evicted an ancient tribe of Amazonians" lol...
I just love sitting and listening to their stories.
Funny interview, congratulations to Lee for keeping it cool. I really like to hear Paul playing. It's sounds like cream 💖
i love the videos with paul in them, so much fun!
Anyone notice Paul keeps walking on the Captain and when Lee Final gets a word in Paul starts playing.
Yeah it's really rude not going to lie
I could listen to these two teas each other for hours. PRS is a hoot.
Wonderful stuff. Once met Paul Reed Smith at a trade show 20yrs ago and wanted to ask him all those questions. He had no time then. Just heard them all answered now. I want a 594...!!! 👍🎸
Paul is right you are our vicarious version of us playing the instrument as if we are there playing and finding out if we too like it or not. Let alone the extra benefits of learning about the series of guitars or facts of knowledge.
Paul Reed Smith is a hell of a guy and he makes a great guitar. He truly stands by his creation. He knows how good they are and the precision that goes into it.
Another great PRS interview..good stuff....thanks..
Nice interview, I love the tone in those guitars. Keep saving my money and one day I will own one.
I'm still watching the commercial and already hit the thumbs up!
Love the tone of the PRS Paul is playing!
What a lovely man, and I'm in love with the finish on that SE💏
I really like when the two of you get together. Hope to see more. I love my PRS S2 Singlecut Standard. McCarty Tobacco sunburst. my friend bought one and when I picked it up I played it and had to have one but I was broke. Two weeks later, I owned one and now I've had it about 3 weeks. I play it into a Princeton reverb reissue. I love PRS and I love that Paul owns and runs his own company. I'm switching to PRS for my main guitars from now on. Paul is just so innovative with all those little things he's always putting into the guitars and that counts for a lot in my book. I don't see many large companies doing those things if any. What a Passionate guy who loves guitars! I would love to have a core series McCarty. Buy a PRS everyone. There's something for everyone in different price ranges and you will not be dissapointed!
And I live in the US. In Pennsylvania which is right above Maryland and the PRS factory. I plan on going there for a tour. Hopefully if I go a few times I'll run into Paul. That would be great!
*Paul asks a question*
*Lee starts answering it*
*Paul starts playing guitar over Lee*
*Lee still trying his best to answer while Paul - totally uninterested either playing or looking annoyed*
*Paul stops Lee by telling him something unrelated or asking him something different*
*Lee starts answering it*
*Paul starts playing guitar over Lee*
*Lee still trying his best to answer*
.....
and the history repeats itself
Sad but true he should just let him talk and not rude to him.
Paul GAVE him a guitar to show his appreciation and the guy called it a "freebie" ! Don't you think that was an insult to Paul's generosity?
He’s a guitar player, his hands are on a guitar but he’s still listening. I do the same thing, doesn’t mean I don’t care what the person is saying. I just have a guitar in my hands it’s automatic.
Paul is such a good guy I love his guitars just because of him and how liyal he is I really love his guitars watching these vids madr me love them more they sound amazing the work he does is just so good cant wait to get one of my own
I love the Paul plays. On the clean sound with the CE hollow body perfection
Just bought one of your guitars paul. quite happy
Great double act...always a good watch ...bring on number 3 🎸🎸👍🏻
I live in Maryland and now I’m getting to see how cool Paul is it makes me wanna rock his guitars. I don’t owns prs but I wish I would of got one last time my only thing is they can be lofty and I love 80s colors which they don’t really have them vibrant colors. I loved the exotic wood ones and I love both of the ones they are playing. I even liked one of the cheaper ones idk I like natural or sunburst but usually in acoustics. Wow I love all them guitars there very classy that ebony one wow where was that one when I just dropped mad cash.
I just got a prs se soapbar ii yesterday and one of the things that helped me decide are the chappers/captain videos :)
Yaaaaaaay!!!!!We finally get to see it!!! Enjoy, Captain!!!
Haha! Totally agree with Paul Reed Smith. My first guitar was bought for me and it was battered when I eventually sold it, my next guitar I saced up for about a year, when I sold that one, in was in near mint condition! My current guitar I have had for 16 years and aside from some serious fret wear is in impeccable shape.
Ive been waiting for this in depth video of that PRS. Thanks captain! Exactly what I wanted
Daniyal Ahmed I've been avoiding it. Waiting for Paul but Paul Gilbert.
Beautiful sounding Guitars all.
Whoa, I pre-ordered one of the Reclaimed one! I hope they are coming! They are off the site now
Paul is awesome! Such enthusiasm
over the past 30 years, I've owned so many different makes of guitars but nothing touches my PRS. I'll never sell it, it plays and sounds like an absolute dream. so, thank you Mr Smith.
The model Paul has is absolutely GORGEOUS!
First time I actually see Paul play the guitar =D
Awesome!
Ok! I have being watching your videos for a loooooong time now! This one was one the best ones so far. I am on the look out for a 1.000/1.200K guitar. I am very close to close a deal with the Mira Sunburst. Let´s see how it goes! Love the PRS philosophy!
What a Gentleman . And what a great Luthier !
LOL PRS is a funny guy , Very cool. I just got my first custom 24 10 top and a SC 594 with a beautiful top. I cant put the sc594 down long enough to explore the 24 yet. I cant believe the quality , feel and sound of this thing, Instant fan over here. Its very comfortable I just dont wanna pickup my les pauls unless i have to now. lol. Great job Paul and love that you play and have a great attitude your the man. ty
Oh my god that PRS SE 245 is so beautiful!
I've been waiting for this for a year
As little as I care about PRS guitars, I think the man is interesting and I've been binge watching interviews and learning about him. Yes, he can seem a tad snarky, but I'm really finding his honesty and frankness to be refreshing and not just "smooth PR person" type of answers.
Next do a captain meets Jeff Kiesel or John Suhr or something lmao. I can dream can't I?
that would be awesome!
kiesel make a great guitar!
Everyone is complaining about Paul noodling over Lee talking and I wouldn't even have noticed. I don't think it's inappropriate to noodle around as long as you don't do it loudly, it just shows that he can't keep his fingers of the guitar.
I was thinking the same thing. He's itching to jam again. I don't think he's doing it deliberately to be rude, he just loves playing. I'm the same way when I'm jamming with a friend. We'll be shooting the shit and I'll be noodling around on the guitar as well. Mind you it's not a professional interview but at the same time as a guitar player himself, Lee should be able to understand why he can't keep his fingers off the guitar lol.
Guess some people have some kind of pretentious "etiquette". - But as said, if it's not just blatantly drowning someone out, it's acceptable. Then again... > 40:34
Right? I doubt the owner of a guitar store is bothered by noodling. He hears it every day and probably doesn't even notice it at this point.
That's because you're a poorly raised jerk. You don't seem to understand that during a conversation, whether you're listening or not is far less important than if the other person THINKS you're listening. If they don't, it changes the entire dynamic of the conversation. They open up less, say different things, and engage with you on a far more shallow level.
Perhaps you should stop thinking about whether YOU think it's rude or whether or not YOU know you're listening and start thinking about the person who's giving you their full attention and only getting half of yours (or just enough to comprehend what they're saying well enough to respond to them).
I love it when Captain Lee and Paul get together. Some of my favorite videos.
Lee, I hope you're enjoying your 594. I bought a double cut 594 in McCarty Burst and it's magical. I wish I would have held out for a double cut but I couldn't find one available in the McCarty Burst.
My PRS SE Paul's in amber going into a Sonzera 20 combo is some of the bassiest on clean, and smooooooothest overdrive possible. It's a real great amp.
The finish on the private stock 594...unreal!!!
Lee talking about Norman's rare guitars?
Almost certainly ahaha
no doubt
Norm reminds me of Dennis Hoff, in not a good way.
Vintage dealer? Check. American? Check. Notoriously overpriced? Check.
Yep. Norman’s Rare Guitars.
No doubt lol
Great interview.
I'm starting to like this guy, and owning a prs as my ultimate guitar is my desire.
So does anybody know when the Sonzera amps are coming out? I can't find a release date anywhere and was hoping for one here
I´m a brazilian, hopefully one day I´ll pay a visit to the Captain store.
I had that "I wish I would have bought guitar" myself. It was used S2 Singlecut...that thing was just 7 pounds and had such sustain and presence...then I plugged it into a little Fender Blues Junior and all the pickup positions just bloomed ! Stupid me, I left it on the wall (for a whole $799 US dollars).
The dogs bollocks expression comes from the old sets of Meccano. They sold sets of Meccano in a Box Standard version which evolved into the term "Bog Standard" and The Deluxe Box version which evolved into the term The Dogs Bollocks.
Great interview!
Does Anderton's carry Electra guitars. If so can you guys review them specifically the talon because I'm thinking of getting one but I want to see other opinions of them.
I would say that guitar of the Captains is perfect. Sounds brilliant.
Paul is one of the few innovators left in the guitar industry.
When is that album coming out Paul & the Captain
loved it
Captain, the Gary Moore video you mentioned featured both Albert Collins and Albert King.
“Always a pleasure, never a chore”.
Having just watched the Silver Sky interview with PRS, that quote did not last.
AMAZING DUDES WITH AMAZING GUITARS !
Getting my s2 singlecut standard tomorrow! Man I want a McCarty!
And I pre-ordered one of those Reclaimed Velas from you, Mr Anderton....! *squint*
What a great video. Please have more with guys like Paul. Awesome attitude. Great heart for the music and what his company is producing. Love the reclaimed series!
yes that PRS sounds great ... I could not own a guitar co . cause i would want too keep all the awesome ones
What a sweet chord progression on the intro
I got lucky and was able to pull the trigger on a PRS that I'm smitten with, but I kinda do regret not getting a Gibson Snow Falcon V when I had the chance. That guitar was incredible and now they're selling for thousands of dollars more used than they cost when they were new
Steven Chabot You could at least get a Epiphone Snow Falcon
I could, but I doubt that it'd be the same as the one I played and they're still pretty expensive.
any chance you'll be getting Paul Gilbert in one of these when he does a clinic later this year?
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO
43:56 that has got to be the most awkward handshake in the history of awkward handshakes!
The Capt. meets Larry David.
The Captain is most likely referring to Gary Moore´s collaboration on the track Oh Pretty Woman with Albert King. It´s on the Still Got The Blues album from 1990, but it´s a collaboration on one track, not a full album.
I’ve played a lot of guitars, especially a lot of Les pauls and American strats, I’ve never had one specific guitar pop out as better than all the rest.
Wow, a lot of what Paul says really resonates with me. I have a 4yr old who currently doesn't speak either and hopefully one day will. You guys make great videos and Paul makes the best guitars on the planet. Cheers from Canada.
Just gotta love Paul Reed Smith.
What guitar is chilling on the stand between Paul and The Captain? The single cut that's like pink/red to grey burst that they don't pick up.
I love Paul. He seems like a truly decent guy. But Paul, when you're holding a conversation and you stop talking and the other person starts, that is *not* your que to turn up your guitar and start playing while starring down at it. That isn't how conversation works, and my guess is that it makes you look a lot more arrogant and un-relatable than you probably actually are.
I know he won't read this, but, ya know....
Really tho, the intersting person in this video is the captain
Meccano used to do two sets, the box deluxe and the box standard. These were colloquialised into Dog's bollox and bog standard
With regard to Paul Reed Smith ...WOW! What the heck??? Adversarial!!! It is good that he makes excellent guitars.
