I have actually not seen Pete play his purple tele that much lately and yet I still cannot think of a single time he has played this PRS since this video. He's really into his yellow slimline tele right now.
@@garydougill7478 one constant thread I’ve seen on Anderton’s and really most guitar channel vids is that PRS makes really great guitars. Fantastic even. But without a soul. I’ve never seen a presenter completely bond with them and subsequent videos almost always have them playing something else. I don’t know why that is. I’ve played them in stores and had a similar experience while enjoying guitars from a bunch of other companies. I can’t explain why.

@@steveschulz3647 PRS has soul, it’s just brand bias like buzz said. A PRS wasn’t a dream childhood guitar for many people, unlike Gibson or Fender. That makes you less likely to favour it purely out of it being something you always wanted. Most PRS guitars would be better quality than a Gibson or Fender.
@@steveschulz3647 I agree with what the others here say about brand bias. I'm new to guitars (longtime drummer) so never really had a brand bias formed by childhood dreams or anything, and I'd take a PRS any day. They just sound, feel, and look great, simple as that!
It’s funny how Pete getting a new guitar makes all of “us” feel good. It says a lot about the character of the guy. I still prefer the green Music Man though.

Pete is very deserving of this, Paul Reed Smith you are a good dude, i know giving a guitar away is no skin off your back, but the fact you are a genuine friend to the guys who stock your stuff, i dont know why but it makes me happy.
8 Letter Lie I think Paul said out loud the biggest reason... he specifically mentioned all of the videos Anderton’s and Pete are putting out. He wants his guitar featuring in a lot of those videos as advertising. There’s nothing wrong with that... it’s smart business... but I strongly suspect it’s not really about being a friend to Pete.

peterzuehlke Totally... why would he give away an expensive guitar to someone who is probably a passing acquaintance at most if he doesn’t think he’s getting anything in return? As much as I don’t really like Paul from the videos and interviews I’ve seen of him and I’m not really a PRS fan he is smart and successful businessman.

WhoKnowsMrLoons I think Gibson are getting it together from what I’ve seen of the new management team and new product line-up. Personally I’ve never subscribed to the common internet opinion of how widespread Gibson’s QC issues were (from extensive personal experience I’d add) but they clearly had some work to do and seem to be doing it.
For me PRS are a bit too perfect... design-wise I mean not build. Some of the design “flaws” on Les Pauls and Teles are appealing to me. To me the design of PRS guitars leaves them feeling soulless. I bond with the imperfections of design of Les Pauls and Teles in a way I never do on PRS guitars. But it’s just my opinion and I can see why so many people love them.

Bastiaan H well Pete’s used to single coils but I’m a fan of humbuckers. He’s going to have to embrace them. Plus, they’re better for getting more gain which Pete doesn’t use a lot of. Whatever. Nice gesture. But my Brian Moore custom shop that nobody knows about anymore, has a top that beats that one. It’s smaller and curved for comfort. Thin neck n body. Seymour Duncan’s. I’d put it up to the test of any PRS. They just don’t sell them in stores anymore. Just direct.
stanislavmigra well it was a nice gesture. I’d rather see this one than the silver sky. It’s just not my taste due to the headstock and I just prefer Fender. But Pete was the only one without one. He deserves it. He looked very happy.

Lee himself said a long time ago when he used to work for his dad, he was doing the lowliest of the jobs like vacuuming and scrubbing the toilets and it took a long time for him to even get into the guitar department, let alone own the place, and he says he’s still not above that work when it needs being done, I guess when you see the owner doing the grunt jobs, that attitude would rub off on you too

Classic and charming sales technique by PRS but there's no way this will beat the purple Tele.
I own a pink tele but damn if that isn't one smooth sounding guitar, the build quality is just another level too. Personally not a fan of "artificial aging" either but to wach their own
I've owned and played a lot of extremely expensive and coveted guitars including custom shop Gibson's and fenders. A PRS is an entirely different beast. What they do best is not doing what fender and Gibson are doing. They are incredible pieces of hardware and it's extremely difficult to make them sound bad.
They do however have a feel that you either are into or hate. I personally love to see them and hear them but there is something about them that I can't get comfortable with playing

Paul Reed Smith always comes across in every video as a genuinely nice dude. He can switch into business man mode but still retain that believable enthusiasm and love for what he does. Great free advertising for him, Danish Pete is mahoosive in social media land! Very deserved gift 🎁

The guitar in the Video is definitely NOT the guitar that Pete got. They don't have the same tuning knobs, Pete's has the bird instead of the logo on the headstock and the one in the video has white binding at the headstock, Petes doesn't... So the guitar he is playing is a Paul's guitar, but not the one Pete received. Also the Inlays on Pete's are way smaller than on the guitar what Paul is playing. And it was mentioned in the video that the guitar was built especially for the PRS experience in 2018. The TEDx video was uploaded in 2013....

I am looking forward to a series of videos with Pete doing various janitorial chores, such as hoovering, dusting the amps, painting the ceiling, fixing the electrical installations, hanging up the odd lamp or painting, adding a bit of a nail here and there - and then being interrupted by the sudden, unexpected, arrival of exotic pieces of gear that sets off a new adventure.
I envision something in the vein of Indiana Jones sweating in class before being whisked away by fate on some fresh heros journey like "Raters of the Fuzzed Bark", "Danish Pete and the Temple of Brooms", "Danish Pete and the Fast Crusade" or the admittedly slightly more outlandish and significantly less canon "Danish Pete and the king kong of the Bristol Gulls"

PRS guitars may have exceptional build quality but aesthetically they aren't my bag. Something tells me they aren't Pete's either.
I don't go for that "polished status symbol" variety of guitar most associate with PRS.
Their matte finished MUSA S2 line, on the other hand looks pretty damn sweet, especially in Egyptian gold.
Very much still are the lawyers guitar. They need more sauce in my opinion, like quirks. They possibly are objectively the best guitars out there, but guitars are not objective, if you like teles, you like teles for example.
Paul is one of the coolest guitar makers/players. If you have never seen his Ted talk on guitar making go watch it.
I hope you guys realize, that's Paul Reed Smith's handwriting on the box! I recognized his writing, he's sent me notes before as I've bought 2 of his phenomenal guitars!.. Don't throw the box out!
