Rob contributed way more on this album than he probably realised at the time. The most emotional songs on this years album were his. He created the melody for pretty raw and usually is one of my favourite FOO songs. Make it through the night has FOO written all over it and again was Rob's song. They both contributed equally on this album and it shows. You two are musical geniuses and your chemistry together is unlike any other band. Hope Rob gets well soon. Another incredible album.

Right?!? And in a way the roles reversed this time. Rob has the saddest song in Usually. And then Andrew goes hard with Dorian! This whole album sounds so much more mature! I hope whatever Rob is going through dissapears into the oblivion and we can go back go him singing about Greg.

    • @isetmfriendsofire

I agree. I think Rob definitely got a bit creatively stuck at times. Like, in the last song they wrote, he was stuck in mellotron mode, when I feel like some distorted power chords would have served that song really well (accompanying the clean guitar).
But I think that he still contributed really nice song-skeletons which he was simply overthinking and underestimating. The sunshine one really came alive into something fun when Andrew helped flesh it out with the backup vox and the synth.
Plus, Rob's drumming provided a LOT to Andrew's songs.

This is the one. I know y'all joked about this being the "rough album," but this album has felt the most complete of all of them.
Every time they showed Rob playing "Pretty Raw" while up in the lounge, I was desperately hoping that he would bring it forward to record, easily my favorite moment on the album (and great editing on the video to foreshadow it!)
And really really wonderful to see the support you were receiving from your friends, Rob. Our brains betray us sometimes, making it difficult to see the beauty we create. I hope you see just how much of an impact you've had and continue to have for so many people.

My mom committed suicide September 1st, 2023. We had her cremated and had her funeral on her birthday, October 2nd. On October 1st, my fiancé left me. I tried to do what my mom did, I was so broken down. On the same day, Rob wrote usually. I’ve never had a song speak to me so much, these past few months have been so hard. I saw the video he made the other day and heard that song for the first time. It made me feel not completely alone for the first time since October for one minute and fifty-four seconds. I played it on a loop after finding it on Spotify for 3 hours straight. I just laid there and cried. I hope one day I can write something as special as that song. I think about suicide every second of every day. I just want to be ok again. That song helps a tiny amount. I hope I can give the world something as beautiful as that song before I go. Thank you, Rob. Thank you for making one minute and fifty-four seconds of life worth living for me.
