To use a chess analogy; when a player reaches a universally accepted level of excellence they are called a Grandmaster. The Grandmasters then compete to see who is the best. As guitar playing is a subjective expression of music, there isn't a competition for the best. Can we all agree that Mr Koch is without doubt a 'Grandmaster'?
please guys... A little bit of brain. These new Gibsons are worst than entry level instrument. Does anyone has the guts to say that a current production Japanese Tokai Les Paul or a Eastman made in China (either Les Paul copy model) are worst than the new Gibson line of Les Paul standard? Please answer to Your brain. Those are cheap, cheaper than ever before, well marketed instruments.
Greg is probably one of the Best Guitarist in the World today. He can do anything with a guitar and his attitude makes him that much enjoyable. When a man loves his work he excels at it an Greg is a Great example of it !
What I absolutely love about Greg Koch is how he can make guitarist crack up laughing at his playing...because it just takes you by surprise and is so crazy and like you've never heard before, you just crack up laughing. He caught Lee several times. I gotta try one of these guitars.
This man has an absolute mastery of the instrument. So very impressive to watch and listen to. Doesn't hurt that he's hilarious and engaging as all hell.
As the proud owner of Reverend Guitars, I can tell you that the design and build quality of these instruments are world class. And priced for the working man's wallet...Reverend Rules~!
Of all the guitar players in the known universe, Greg has the absolute best gear. Everything with his seal of approval is over the top great stuff. It's well thought out. Every feature serves a purpose, and everything works for the player. Not to mention that it all sounds fantastic. *APPLAUSE HERE*
Greg is one of the most entertaining and talented musicians out there... His personality is just fantastic because even with his great talent, he's very humble and extremely humorous... Glad to see this!
i was thinking that Eric Gales might be my favorite guitar player these days, but I forgot Greg Koch. GOOD GOD he is amazing. What a voice on the instrument.
Saw Gregg in Newcastle at his fishman clinic. Two and a half hours of awesomeness. Spoke briefly during and afterwards, many wise words and the rest. Gave me a lot to think about, Thanks Gregg
He did a demo CD for Fender’s 50 year amp anniversary book. He plays through a ton of vintage and reissue amps. His chops are insane and he is hysterically funny.
Great interview as always Lee! Greg is an amazingly talented guitarist (saw him many years ago at a clinic and he's the reason I got a Fender Cyber Twin) and even funnier dude. One of the most under appreciated guitarists alive today. Toledo and Akron are just a few hours north of me. Great stuff guys! God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍#iwantmoregristle "who has the best hair?"
So so good! Nothing better than an interview with "The Grizzle Blues Master" himself Mr. Greg Koch! Why he doesn't have a talk show in late night is beyond me!?!? Andertons does it right! Thanks Lee
I had a Wildwood 1959 10 radius seafoam green I had try to sell earlier with nothing but people wanting to lowball me. I spent a hour or so searching demo vids and was surprised he had played that guitar and featured it on YT vid. I added that piece of information on the guitar's description and it sold that week.
I admit it - I didn't know who Greg Koch was. Then, when I saw this, I realized that this is the guy who's playing I loved on an Epiphone Casino review. Cool interview. This guy is awesome
ooh fantastic..this just popped up.on my phone. Time to get up...grab a coffee...put the kids out...turn off the phone...fire up the big screen and watch it through decent speakers. This Sunday just got a heap better....
Collin Hoffman those are strong words seeing as how The Captain has interviewed some mighty talented players. Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert. Those sir are some big talents. Not counting Danish Pete and Rabea as they are always on the channel, but they too are players of prodigious talent. Is Mr Koch the best? Maybe, maybe not. But good God can he play!!! This is the subject for an old fashioned bar room debate. Can’t look this up on the Google. It would take much discussion and many pints to solve this.
Captains playing is getting better and better every time...feeling is unreal with some of the sweetest vibrato ever More fun than the 1st Koch interview, thanks for this
loved this interview i've still got some of his teaching cd's i think i bought them from Andertons 1990'ish or there abouts. They were how to play SRV songs and his teaching was really easy to follow on the cd's. Love watching him play he's truly brilliant and a great musician. Id stopped playing for over a decade and wanted to pick it up again a year or so ago and couldn't remember a lot of the SRV stuff then remembered i still had those cd's tucked away and got it all back again thanks to those. How i'd love to play like him he makes it all look so effortless.
So true, Vocals being an Icebreaker. I Love instrumental music but there's Something about vocal in a Set. That is usually the point where the whole audience Starts having a good time ..
What makes Greg Koch an amazing interview his unlimited vocabulary and his spot on hilarious observations of the absurdity of life. In the midst of it, he rips guitar necks to shreds. It’s also what makes him entertaining in his own in the Wildwood videos where he has no one play off of and it still feels like you’re watching a dialogue. Not your average dude.

'Gristlemaster' is the word you're looking for.
It's that one level to which (besides Greg) no one's ever really gone.
Chet Atkins honored 4 players with the title “Certified Guitar Player.”
@@rmg471 Five other players, besides himself. His daughter added another.
He is not A "Grandmaster". He is THE "Grandmaster". Now we're good.
He is a Grandmaster in my book! There isn’t a style of geeetar playing he cannot wield.
"snorting laundry detergent and rocking like pagan warlords in the night"
I think Greg has watched Cheech & Chong's "Up In Smoke!" recently.
you left out "trollops all around"

The subtitles have it as 'penguin more lords of the night'.

Chock full of Koch.....
What's better than 1 interview with Greg Koch is 2 interviews with Greg Koch. Love that guy!
Check out some of Greg's records guys! Some of this is amazing music!
A.J. Roseman Funkforce Five is phenomenal from “Unrepentant”
Love that at even the slightest hint of a lewd comment you can hear the rousing cackles of Danish Pate.
If he went bald we could call him Danish Pate hahaha!

Such a creative player. Incredible... and what a funny man and sharp brain.

This is a franchise that needs a trilogy - the Capt meets Greg Koch 3!
What I absolutely love about Greg Koch is how he can make guitarist crack up laughing at his playing...because it just takes you by surprise and is so crazy and like you've never heard before, you just crack up laughing. He caught Lee several times. I gotta try one of these guitars.
This dude could do stand-up too! love this man!
What a glorious axe wielding sasquatch of a man!
Mansquatch ;-)

This guy is not only hilarious , but hilariously good at guitar .
Yes ! My favorite guitar player/comedian on the planet ! Greg is THE MASTER ! :-)
I really want one of his signature guitars. the colors are fantastic
Greg is the best! It's outright scary what he can do on the guitar and it all seems to be completely effortless.
Ah, one of my favorite guitarists in all his gristly glory. Andertons + Koch = Insta-click!
Greg makes Wisconsin proud. 🔥

Great interview Captain! Greg is a treasure. Down to earth yet godlike talent.
Gregs hands are so big and strong. It's really really hard to emulate anything he plays. His style and strength of the notes is inimitable.
Well We've had Losts of Guitar Pupils in theses Captain meets... But Now at last we have the MASTER
umm petrucci, marty friedman, vai, paul gilbert, and guthrie govan would like to have a word with you.
@@ryanbazail They have their special THING but can't play as many different styles Like Greg & As good as He can That was my Point

Greg is one of my favorite guitarists, his technique is amazing and tone for days.
Can you just get this true master to come back every month? Brilliant! 👍😎🤘
21 people gave this a thumbs down? Clearly they have no joy in their lives. I feel sad for them.
Greg is an arrogant twat in my opinion, so?
I'm not scared of looking up this Koch on the internet in public
Greg is one of the most entertaining and talented musicians out there... His personality is just fantastic because even with his great talent, he's very humble and extremely humorous... Glad to see this!
Watching from Milwaukee. Greg plays frequently at a club less than a mile away from where I live yet I have to see him live. Will do soon.
Greg Koch is one of THE best in the world!
One of my top players, he's fantastic. That gristlemaster is a beast.
i was thinking that Eric Gales might be my favorite guitar player these days, but I forgot Greg Koch. GOOD GOD he is amazing. What a voice on the instrument.
GALES is just plain fantastic but yeah, you right about Greg.
He's a trip ! I always enjoy his clips , great player with such a sense of humor
Greg koch best modern player hands down. All rounded and that vibrato 👌
Absolutely one of my favorite people . I’ve been very fortunate to call Greg a friend all these years
Greg is a monster, love his demos
Ok that guitar sounds great! And Greg is one of the best guitarists out there right now.
omg that intro ...like every amazing technique everrrr just tossed in!!
GLORIOUS
Gregs sharp fast abstract humour is a mirror of his playing. I find it hard to keep up. always love his playing.
I've enjoyed his videos for years, what a great player.
Please try to do a Captain meets Dweezil Zappa.
Saw Gregg in Newcastle at his fishman clinic. Two and a half hours of awesomeness. Spoke briefly during and afterwards, many wise words and the rest. Gave me a lot to think about, Thanks Gregg
Master , Journeyman guitar player ! Greg is always a pleasure and a true joy to listen to and watch ! A true entertainer ! Gotta love him !

It would be amazing if they could pull that off.
Great vid. Most serious side of Greg I’ve ever seen. He’s a great player. Amp, guitar and pedal all have me thinking. Thanks guys.

Omg. Such a great album. Took a break from the interview and gave it a listen. Just wow.
Two of my favorite RUclips personalities. Excellent!
Love the video, thanks! I was hoping for some Pete and Greg jams, that would have been epic!
Michael Borel Absolutely! :-)
The internet is not set up to handle that kind of epic collaboration. The resulting explosion would be able to be seen from Alpha Centauri.
Would love to see a 'Captain Meets Jimmy Herring.'
Jimmy Herring is a favourite of mine. He's been touring with John McLaughlin. That would be something to see!
Always entertaining!! Very versatile top bloke also 👍👍👍
Captain meets Clapton..... Eric being one of the first guitar geeks .... And an awesome guy too listen to it would be awesome.
Chuffed to be seeing the group here in Connecticut on Feb. 23rd. This guy is making me want to chuck my mesa amps lol.
