Imagine having an incredibly stressful day at work, you get home, kick your shoes off, take off your tie that you hate wearing, remember you have 6 ice cool beers in the fridge, grab one, sit on the couch, flick youtube on and find out Greg Koch is at TPS doing his new fancy pedal demo for 1 hour 7 minutes and 56 seconds. Well, that's me right now and everything is suddenly blissful. Thanks TPS. Thank you so much!!
@@cannedheat67 I know man! Tell me about it. What a guy he is. Legend. Its not often I see Dan short of stuff to say but he couldn't stop laughing haha. I'm a HUGE Noel Gallagher and Jonny Marr fan but this video tops them both. Superb.
Saw him in Sheffield last night, he's a mindblowing guitarist. As a player of 30 years myself there are the players you hear where you go 'I can do that', the players where you go 'I know what they're doing but it's a bit beyond me', and then players like Greg where you're just like 'what the hell was that' 😂🔥
It is the staccato technique I think and the out of nowhere jazz chords. he just knows the fretboard so well he can make those crazy runs with supreme confidence. he is great
I have also been a player more than 30 years and I agree. Every once in a while he does something that absolutely blows me away and leaves me wondering what my hands are even for.
Well put, man..! He definitely has that effect, some stuff you figure you'd cheat your way in a bit and get by, but some things he does, do feel absolutely out of reach... By just about the same distance as the difference in length between my hands and his. Well, if inches were miles that is..!
The way Greg’s sense of humor comes out through his playing really makes him a joy to listen to. In everything he plays there’s a little wink in there if you pay attention.
I've been guzzling koch (content) for 6 or 7 years, and his playing is the most genuine example of an "extension of personality" on the market. Absolute goofball, will also melt your face off.
I didn't know anything about Greg at all, never heard of him until this episode. Over one hour, he became one of my favorite players. His talent, his humor, are just amazing. Cheers guys for a great episode, totally love it!
Scaaaaary fast mind that reflects on his playing. Admiration, frustration, astonishment, awe, and intense laughter all at the same time. Unique in every sense of the word.
I had the pleasure of growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and have been listening to Greg's gorgeous playing for over 30 years now - just an incredible player and great guy! Shoutout to my boy Matt Turner who plays with Greg as well!!
All I have to say is when Greg is on the show. I can't stop laughing. My mouth hurts, my cheeks hurts! I start crying from laughter! I wish you guys would put a reel together of all Greg's best moments on your show. So I can watch it over and over again, especially when you're depressed. He just makes me laugh all the time love Em. Love you guys a Merry Christmas from the USA!
Greg Koch is a musician in which guitar style truly matches his personality. Nobody is as entertaining as he is. He’s an amazing and one of a kind guitar player, always full of surprises when you watch his performances.
I just love Greg Koch..! Near infinite guitar skills and knowledge, never preachy, always funny, seem like a genuinely great dude... Awesome episode gents, many thanks!
It doesn't matter how many times I see clips or interviews with Greg, he just blows me away every single time. I've been playing on and off for 20 years and there's no greater motivation than watching him for 5 minutes. His style is never going to be the most commercially popular, but he's surely the talent of his generation, absolutely peerless.
I was lucky enough to see Greg and the Mighty KMT twice on their recent UK/England tour and I haven't stopped smiling since............. Thank you KMT & TPS
to me greg is the epitome of having fun playing guitar and is one of the most talented and creative players who ever lived. his brain and fingers are always running on all cylinders with two turbos on max boost. i'd love to spend time talking and jamming with him in real life some day. i'm sure it would be a very memorable experience.
Greg is such a cool guy. How the heck do you guys film this and not just be rolling on the FLOOR??? What a great dude, and truly a guitar players guitar player.
It was a pleasure seeing Greg Koch and his band two nights ago at The Jam House. Always one of my all time favourite guitarists and I am glad you guys made another video with him.
Wow!!! Aside from how incredible Greg's playing is, and aside from how funny his commentary is, I just love how he inserts humor into his playing. Bravo!!!
The way this dude talks about tone and pedals and playing it's like the Stewart Copeland of guitar. What a blast. And what a piece of art @ jam pedals.. whoa. Just got the ripple phaser - my first dive into jam. Can't wait to hear it.
This video is full of SOOOO much JOY! I would love to sit in a room with him for just one evening. I can only imagine how much laughter there would be. ALSO It just hit me that I have been watching and engaged in this show for YEARS, and this is why. You guys continually put out amazing videos time after time year after year. Thank you guys for what you do! What a great way to rest and relax. Cheers mates!
Greg Koch is one of the most versatile and phenomenal musicians in my hit parade!!! If he stopped playing guit he could have a successful career as a stand-up comedian.
Greg is the whole entire package. He’s a treasure chest full of great guitar playing with some great tech tricks mixed in and shiny gems of humor sprinkled about to make it all sparkle. So entertaining! Thank you TPS. Love it all!!!
I love it when a person's personality matches their playing. Its like he says whatever immediately comes into his brain and that's what his playing is like. It WORKS and its hysterical
Sir Koch of Gristledom!! Greg has such a large arsenal of runs, turns, progressions, and tones to pull from on a fraction of thought. AND...he can be entertaining just holding a guitar and talking. I never once thought...just hush and play. Great show!!
That was by far the best response to not using digital effects I’ve ever heard 😂 It’s like you got your dad who just told everyone straight! Just love him, great episode 👏👏
Greg is the guitarist’s guitarist. I’ve watched him groove and simmer, and I’ve seen him shred. 2 notes, or 100 notes, Greg will scorch your eyebrows off.
Thanks mates! Ladies & gentlemen: *Greg Koch* the funniest man in music! Cheers from the rainy Pac NW! Thanks everyone bringing this TPS episode to the "interwebs".
Man, Greg seems like the nicest human and the greatest person to be around. He's the epitome of good times around some beers and listening to great music and great guitar.
Thanks for having Greg Koch on the show..! He is truly a fantastic player and entertainer. I will certainly play this show at half speed to try to learn something. Great show!
I’d love to have 5 mins of my life being able to play like Greg, just to know what it’s like. He really does project his personality through his playing, probably more so than anybody else.
The only thing more interesting in this world than Greg's huge personality and humor is his playing he the total package !!!!! thanks for sharing guys I needed this laugh :)
Saw the Trio rip the face off the crowd at the Open Chord in Knoxville a couple years ago. I stood 50 feet back and it was, as GK would say, glorious. Thanks for making your way and sending those wonderous guitar vibes out into our atmosphere down here!!
The oratory stylings and guitar playing of Mr. Greg Koch have similar characteristics in that they are both clever, skillful, hilarious, full of surprises, relentless and artistic.
I’ve only seen Greg on the Wild Wood Guitar videos and while I could tell he is a funny cat, this video is a hoot. Needs to have his own show for comedy mixed with jams. Maybe there are concert videos where he does concert as well. New quest. Think I’m in my 4th viewing of this, so cool.
Indeed! When I lived down the street from Wildwood's original store in downtown Louisville, It was always a treat when the Gregory Kochery Show was in town!
Greg is a monster player! He can play so many different styles, and he is the funniest dude on the planet! His intelligence and humour come through in his playing, tis a wonder to behold! Such a treat! Kochtastic!
Saw the man himself last night at The Greystones in Sheffield. A glorious chewy tone fest, and some absolute laugh out loud coz it’s that good playing!
Never seen him live but have watched several videos of him with his band. One standout was when he had David Grissom guesting. DG is probably my favourite guitarist of the moment but Greg was making him work to keep up. Some phenomenal playing and plenty of smiles as the two swap licks. Well worth watching if you can find it on RUclips.
It amazes me that anything can actually gets done when he's around, just have to strap in and enjoy wherever he takes the ride. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Last time Koch Marshall Trio came around with Eric Gales I ended up having to work that night and was absolutely bummed out.
Greg is either the best hidden secret of guitar mastery ever I've known and been a hardcore fan since I was a kid and he continues to blow my mind every time I see him displaying his guitar sorcery it's absolutely amazing

Amen to that. Greg Koch is a force of nature, both guitar-wise and his sense of humour.

well said!
100%
Greg is easily the most entertaining interviews for any guitar channel to have on.
And quite possibly the best guitarist they'll ever have on too.
Nice attempt at an interview gentlemen. Greg Kock interviews himself. His train of thought is spiderweb of chaos.
😂😂 he DOES interview himself! Perfectly said! And what an interview! 😂😎

Saw him in Birmingham the night before, exactly this. Makes you realise there are so many leagues above where we have reached
Same here; saw him in Birmingham and had many, many I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING RIGHT THERE moments. A joyous evening, it has to be said.
