Everything you play is so incredible. But I think the thing that blows me away is how easy you make it look. Your kind of playing is so technical but you just flow so well it looks effortless.
i don't know jack shit about guitars, never had one and don't know how to play (definitely interested in though) but watching these long form guitar tutorials/presentations have a soothing impact on me. i don't know why but it puts a smile on my face which doesn't happen very often. Nathaniel's enthusiasm must be contagious.
The 54 Strat, sounded the best to my ears. None of my guitars cost anywhere near these prices, but listening to your playing on these exceptional instruments I find so inspiring.
I literally got goosebumps when you played free bird. That was amazing having such a piece of rock n roll history. And that 50s model gold top… oh my..some very very tasty playing there. I do watch Andertons videos being from the UK . But you guys are killing it with these videos.. next time I come over to the states I’m really gonna have to pay you guys a visit .
Three tries to reach Chicago failed in 2011 living in Waukesha and i found your store back then love this video and Nathaniel is a class act all the way.
WOW! Figured the crowning guitar would be another '59 burst. Never would I have guessed Gary Rossington's SG! What a great surprise! Thank you for the entertaining video. Always a pleasure to hear Nathaniel's playing!
Those are fantasticly beautiful guitars!🤩 all are wonderful and my two favorite would be the Blue Dale Wilson CS strat and the 1957 Gibson Les Paul Gold top $90,000. 👌Only guitar players like Nathaniel are worthy of playing those guitars.🔥Amazing guitar channel. Cheers!💯
Nate the Great strikes again. I think of these videos as a feast. I take each guitar as a course. I push away from the table walk around, and then come back and enjoy one guitar at a time. ✌️❤️
I recently came across this series and this is the third video I’ve watched with Nate playing and demonstrating his skills on all of these different guitars. He can obviously make anything in his hands sound good and expensive. I seen him two weeks ago play a $500 squire-telecaster that sound amazing that is made I believe in Indonesia. He’s definitely the right person to do this and I enjoy watching and listening. But until you put any of these guitars in your hands and play it, it isn’t worth spending your money on a guitar until that happens. That’s been my experience when spending my own money on a new guitar. More thing I need to say about this particular video. I was shocked that he pulled out the real Gary Rossington‘s Free Bird 1961 Les Paul or SG, whatever you wanna call it. I was shocked to be honest and made me sad to see it. It’s just a reminder that one of the greatest guitarist that helped created some of the best classic Southern rock that I grew up listening to since the early 1970’s when Lynyrd Skynyrd music first got national attention. These 50 years have gone by so fast it’s ridiculous, and at the same time has been amazing to be alive and present during this time of this countries music’s history. It makes me think and realize how lucky I’ve been to see and hear all the greatest music that came out from all the bands since the mid 60s to the present. I hope to stick around to see and enjoy more.
I actually had the pleasure of playing a 52' telecaster many years ago. The guy who owned it had bought it in 52'. It of course had plenty of wear and mojo but I have to admit, it was one of the best guitars I'd ever got my hands on!
suggestion for fun for later episode -- you can ONLY choose guitars and amps from 1968,... a Les Paul standard goldtop with P90s comes to mind right away... but anything from 1968 😉
Damn playing Freebird on his guitar put tears to my eyes ..such great music on such famous iconic guitars ...music will never get better than that😢😢😢❤❤❤
Lovely demos there and especially liking the clean sounds, where the character of the guitar is clearer and less so the fuzzy stuff nice and varied playing anyway. The 57 Gold top for me followed by the 52 Tele, they are where the magic is for me.
Holy smokes! That SG! What a great piece of musical history! I’ll take the Strat though. Now that’s a very cool guitar! Awesome tone too! Nathaniel is a great player. Could listen to him all day
0:44 I miss the old ES wall. It was epic. It was the back wall, opposite the sound booths where you can try the guitars through various amps. Now it’s the PRS wall, and all the ES guitars are crammed in front of the acoustic room, next to the gig bags and front counter. I hope they never change the Les Paul wall though. That’s a CME staple.
Ohhhhg my goshhhhh the Waylon tele is an absolute dream. Country music guitar does not get enough respect and recognition. And Waylon did so much not just for country music but for the entire music industry as a whole.
WOW! Another awesome video by you guys. Again awesome playing absolutely love watching you play the guitar. These were some special ones really enjoyed the uniqueness of this video. I’ll definitely look forward to more videos of that SG. That Strat you played, that 1952 with the 57 plastic…. That sounded pretty damn awesome. Thanks for the videos guys. ….. P.S. That Castedosa was just absolutely Beautiful Sounding and Looking - a work of art! P.S.S. Also that first stay you played, the Blue Red Strat (that’s Already Sold) sounded awesome also! Again, Thank you for the Great Show.
Since Waylon is a man after my own heart that 1954 leather tele wins on tone and presentation for me. Spectacular playing Nate! Thank you. BTW- I'm a rock player lol
Thank you! Wish we could post everyday too! lol We want to keep the quality higher on the youtube so takes more time to produce these. We do post videos almost every day on our Instagram, check it out if you don't already follow us! 🤘🤘
I was so glad to hear you say 'i don't care about radiuses of necks' because i thought i was a hack for thinking the same thing. Was i a caveman because neck radius doesn't matter to me? But apparently not! Thank you!! Get video, cheers!!
I still think a Custom Shop Strat is the ultimate Strat ever made. I spec'd a simple 50's looking burst with CS Fat 50's pups and compound radius maple neck. It plays and sounds amazing; the craftsmanship is next level. Looks like I turned back the clock walked into a music store in the 50's and grabbed a Strat off the wall. What more could you want? Leave high priced vintage guitars to collectors you aren't missing anything.
I am a Les Paul w/ low output humbuckers through a 12ax7/el34 powered tube amp 100% BUT, there is certainly something very special about a good Telecaster. I’m still trying to find mine that doesn’t cost a small fortune.
As a player, not a collector, if you pay more than 4k for a guitar you are almost certainly getting ripped off. Sidebar, I'm convinced Nate can play a $5 guitar and make it sound good. Guy has some skills!
I understand where you are coming from in the sense that tends to be to range of diminishing returns. But wouldn’t say “ripped off” depending on the instrument. Some hand built instruments, especially acoustic or jazz boxes are very labor intensive and vintage guitars are priced based on rarity/demand
Tell that to everyone that bought a vintage guitar ten years ago. Those guitars are worth even more now. Bursts have doubled since 2010. Teles have doubled. Your playing lower end pribably non vintage stuff under 4 k thats why your loosing money
I love them all, but I don't think I will ever get over the tone of a strat. It just has such a unique array of sounds, then the tele,, so great. The gold top! The burst, the marshmallow, how could you just pick one? Then he breaks out the tele with the black pg then another 50k strat???? Guitar heaven
The Bartel is magic as well. What a combo. Love the color and the relic'ing on that particular strat:PS why does the strat look like a duo sonic size? Your playing is fire as usual- I could make 100k of gear sounds like $50- you da man. PS Bartel amps please release the "Star Lord" asap. tyvm.
man that masterbuilt Strat had me rifling through my gear collection looking to see what I could sell for it. might be the best Strat neck pickup I’ve ever heard…
Funny, my tele doesn't do ANY of that stuff?! It came across great mate! It still amazes me how even great musicians are just as self conscious as us poor players. I keep hoping I'll get better so I'll feel more confident, guess I can forget that, lol Thanks for this Nathaniel 😉
Which guitar is your favorite?!
THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE CHICAGO MUSIC EXCHANGE!!
NEW VIDEOS EVERY WEEK!!
What was the green looking thing you guys put on the Garry Rossington SG?
That all gold Les Paul including the back and sides was absolutely nasty.
The Dale Wilson Custom Shop Strat already sold...
That dale wilson strat though...I'm definitely going to try tuning mine down now...
The last Strat or the leather Tele
My daughter just asked me “why can’t you play guitar like this guy”. Cheers Nate 🫤
Because all your time is spent, looking after the family, well done 👍
And in fairness, none of us can.
Few people can.
That’s rough man 😢
Sounds like something my daughter would ask me 😑
Has to be one of the best moves to ask Nathaniel to join the CME team. Thanks for another great video!
Thank you! 🤘🤘
Everything you play is so incredible. But I think the thing that blows me away is how easy you make it look. Your kind of playing is so technical but you just flow so well it looks effortless.
Anyone else doesn't care about any of the guitars and just wants to see Nathaniel play?
🤘🤘
Definitely the primary draw card
Guitars are a bonus.
I really just wanted to hear Nathanial put the Bartel through its paces 😂.
i don't know jack shit about guitars, never had one and don't know how to play (definitely interested in though) but watching these long form guitar tutorials/presentations have a soothing impact on me. i don't know why but it puts a smile on my face which doesn't happen very often. Nathaniel's enthusiasm must be contagious.
Those of us that do play wish we could play like Nathaniel.
I've been playing 25 years and I have four guitars. These videos have the same effect on me.
Man the unsung hero of this video is the amp. That thing is killer.
I could've stopped watching after the first Strat...♥♥♥ As always, amazing playing from Nathaniel Murphy
🤘🤘
This video represents everything I love about guitar. The right guitar in the right hands
🤘🤘
Seems like any guitar is the right guitar for the guy in the video
When you pulled out that Gold Top, my whole musical career just melted away. Thanks Nate for making most of the rest of us bow in shame!
holy shit, that hand drumming on that Blackguard sounds incredible. The dream guitar.
It's so good! 🤘🤘
How the hell did he do that drumming thing? No looper? Amazing
18:07 "let's see if I can remember a bit of Waylon"
Proceeds to play it flawlessly
😂
.. missed the cut! Still awesome, but human too! 😉
Toan leather too!
Nathaniel is such a gift to the guitar community. His instagram alone inspires me to become better and he has such a unique sound.
That Bartel amp sounds incredible
The 54 Strat, sounded the best to my ears. None of my guitars cost anywhere near these prices, but listening to your playing on these exceptional instruments I find so inspiring.
Thanks for watching!! 🤘🤘
Have to agree. That was a beautiful sounding strat. Definately my cup of tea.
Nah the 59 les Paul was miles better than all of them. Get your ears checked
Thank you!! Very Much Appreciated! 🙏🙏
Love the playing on all these guitars. He’s a great ambassador to put these amazing instruments through their paces.
It’s lots of fun hearing a variety of guitars, but I stick around to the end for Nathanial’s playing. It’s so inspiring!
Three tries to reach Chicago failed in 2011 living in Waukesha and i found your store back then love this video and Nathaniel is a class act all the way.
That smile at 55m … put a smile on my face
That gold Les Paul has “holy shit” sound. What the heck were they doing back in ‘57 when making these?!! Thanks for the vid guys.
Thanks for watching!! 🤘🤘
Congrats on playing the original FreeBird SG what a dream.
🤘🤘
We need an episode on amps! And an episode on basses! ❤ Love these videos!
Noted! 🤘🤘
WOW! Figured the crowning guitar would be another '59 burst. Never would I have guessed Gary Rossington's SG! What a great surprise! Thank you for the entertaining video. Always a pleasure to hear Nathaniel's playing!

Wow, amazing playing on the Les Paul kept rewinding to hear it again
Sounds soooo good right?! 🤘🤘
Great guitarist make any guitar sound good , well done .
Great videos mate, the Stat in the beginning had it for me and loved the Ox Blood Tele from the last one cheers.
playing is out of this world , look forward to hearing more
Nate the Great strikes again. I think of these videos as a feast. I take each guitar as a course. I push away from the table walk around, and then come back and enjoy one guitar at a time. ✌️❤️
Feasting! ❤️🤘🤘

28:25 I love seeing a semi acoustic with rear cavity access points. SO much easier to work on.
As always your playing is on another level
🤘🤘
CAN YOU IMAGINE PLAYING GARY ROSSINGTONS GUITAR 🙏🏻 wonder how much that guitar is insured for 😳
I actually had the pleasure of playing a 52' telecaster many years ago. The guy who owned it had bought it in 52'. It of course had plenty of wear and mojo but I have to admit, it was one of the best guitars I'd ever got my hands on!
I just want to say thank you for this sharing. And congrats to you Nathaniel
Thank you for watching!! 🤘🤘
That first Strat is achingly beautiful, both in looks and sound.
🤘🤘
Beautiful??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fake aged to look old and beyond players wear… Ridiculous..
suggestion for fun for later episode -- you can ONLY choose guitars and amps from 1968,... a Les Paul standard goldtop with P90s comes to mind right away... but anything from 1968 😉
Amazing playing!
The neck pick up on that strat is the best I’ve ever heard …. Amazing
Dude. Your playing had me tearing up like a big sissy. You're absolutely incredible, Nate.
Damn playing Freebird on his guitar put tears to my eyes ..such great music on such famous iconic guitars ...music will never get better than that😢😢😢❤❤❤

Great series. Always amazed by Nathaniel's playing.
Thank you! 🙏🙏
That amp sounds stellar, the break up with the Les Paul was incredible
🤘🤘
Rocking the Albatross. Love it🤙
That Magic Sam riff on the les paul Gold Top with p90s sounded magnificent! Very hard to play but Nathaniel nailed it!
🤘🤘
Holy smokes! That SG! What a great piece of musical history! I’ll take the Strat though. Now that’s a very cool guitar! Awesome tone too! Nathaniel is a great player. Could listen to him all day

Wow. Nice playing as always, Nathaniel.
Three guys who always make me feel better when I play them are Waylon, Hag, and Knopfler. Outstanding, love to have that Waymore Tele.
The Ted Greene was really pretty reminiscent. Try "Send In The Clowns" riffs.
Love Nathaniel pulling out Magic Sam's Boogie on that amazing gold top. This video was great fun.
Thanks for watching! 🤘🤘
Love that you're showcasing the Bartel. Mark is a legend!!!!!
Soooo good! Definitely a shop favorite! 🤘🤘
What a collection of awesome guitars! All part of my life's soundtrack. Thank you so much for sharing.
🤘🤘
Great episode! The sound of that gold top (and back) was INCREDIBLE. Everything played beautifully as well, abviously 🙌
Thank you!! 🤘🤘
53:33 "But, alas, here we are..." Love it!
Nathaniel, incredible playing, brought all of these to life. Let us know if Joe B. calls.....
Ohhhhg my goshhhhh the Waylon tele is an absolute dream. Country music guitar does not get enough respect and recognition. And Waylon did so much not just for country music but for the entire music industry as a whole.

Great demo. I wish you would post a guitar video daily. You are an amazing player. Thank you.

CME and Nathaniel win the internet today!
Great to see all of these holy grails. I’m happy with my 52 Tele 99 reissue and a paid off mortgage.
22:06 now I need a phaser pedal. Nathaniel is a good salesman 😂
That's exactly what I was thinking! 😂
Wonderful playing on some superb instruments!
Just busts out the Sam’s boogie 😅 on the coolest les Paul… nice dude! Beautiful playing on some super awesome guitars.
Thank you!! 🤘🤘
Guitars are nothing without a player,Nate is a proper guitar player.
Loved this episode, thanks CME!
Thank you! 🤘🤘
Never really thought about GR and the SG until I saw the video clip- classic and a great end to the episode.
Great video!…love watching Nathan play guitar 🎸 The 57’ Goldtop is amazing … Awesome to watch Free Bird on the OG!
Goodness, that one man James Brown beat and funk parts at the end w the Tele!
Priceless RUclips content (especially that ending) with more to come. Schweet!
Can't wait to show that guitar off some more! 🤘🤘
For the slide part, I think Gary tuned the 2nd and 3rd strings in unison but slightly different to get a wider sound.
I was so glad to hear you say 'i don't care about radiuses of necks' because i thought i was a hack for thinking the same thing. Was i a caveman because neck radius doesn't matter to me? But apparently not! Thank you!! Get video, cheers!!
Cheers! 🍻
Drooling over that 57 Gold top, what a gorgeous example!
🤘🤘
Good Lord that neck pick up on the Dale Wilson may be the best guitar sound I have ever heard!!

Wicked wicked playin as always man!🤟🏻
This guy is just sick. I can't get enough. Get him on tour with Tommy.
🤘🤘
That Goldtop with P90s sounds wonderfully. Great clean tones.
Faves were ‘57 Gold Les Paul and ‘54 hardtail Strat... both of those guitar had The Tone. Of the new stuff the Masterbuilt Strat did the job.
I don't watch these videos to see guitars. I watch them to see Nathaniel play. Absolutely stunning playing.
🤘🤘
Great guitars but seriously the best thing is Nathaniel and that Bartel Starwood!
40:27 Ooou no I’m not, I’m gonna try that again😂😂 Love this guy
I am a Les Paul w/ low output humbuckers through a 12ax7/el34 powered tube amp 100% BUT, there is certainly something very special about a good Telecaster. I’m still trying to find mine that doesn’t cost a small fortune.
That was Amazing. That SG is KILLER! You played amazing

@@johnsmith-bk4psdid you read what he said? You completely missed the point
as a PLAYER, NOT collector.
So good! CME should advertise through YOUR vids. you get more hits!
That blue strat looks awesome and sounds awesome.😮
43:08 I didn't even know it was possible to do drums (not just a percussive strum, multiple drums!) and melody on a single electric guitar :O
I think that ‘54 Strat is my favorite. Great sound and I love the way the body has worn. …And such a bargain!
To no one's surprise another great video and great playing! Thank you for running with this idea! Now, how about some...
Uh.
Coo.
Sticks.
Thanks you! We could do an episode called "This Just Unplugged" or "Plugged In Unplugged" 🤘🤘
That tuning sounds exquisite! 🏍️🇨🇦
The Bartel is magic as well. What a combo. Love the color and the relic'ing on that particular strat:PS why does the strat look like a duo sonic size? Your playing is fire as usual- I could make 100k of gear sounds like $50- you da man. PS Bartel amps please release the "Star Lord" asap. tyvm.
You are absolutely amazing Nathaniel 👏 ❤️
Oh man that Magic Sam jam on the goldtop is pretty epic!
Thanks for watching!! 🤘🤘
man that masterbuilt Strat had me rifling through my gear collection looking to see what I could sell for it. might be the best Strat neck pickup I’ve ever heard…
