I kinda like the look of the OG link
Thanks for the vid :)
I just installed a link ex groove and otto diy v5. Feels great.
Holy hell where did u get your sega fight stick? It’s beautiful! Also very cool vid - super informative, thank you
imported from Japan.. cost an arm and a leg but was a holy grail for me..
Damn i use the large ball tops, i love my quick release sanduska infiltrator lever 😁. I am waiting for the ps5 version of victrix
Thank u man
YEAAAAASASS!
I just discovered this and they're out of stock. damn lol I'll definitely keep an eye out! I don't travel or have a *need* for one, but if I go to a friend's house every so often where I want to take my Dreamcast, it'll be super nice to put the lever somewhere else to protect it. Also, do you know the size of the hole when the lever is detached? It'd be a good idea to get a rubber grommet cover on Amazon to keep dust and debris out.
24mm
Is the base (Bottom bit that goes into the actuator, spring and e-clip) of the phreak mods on the ex groove the same as the 1 in the original phreak mods link?
Yes
@@jonyfraze Thanks for the reply. It was a great help :o)
Do I need to remove the inside dust washer from the hori rap 4? I’ve installed it with the bushing and all the pieces but it’s restricting the movement of the stick somewhere and I’m guessing it’s the inside washer. I’ll have a go at it later tonight, but I’d like to make sure in the meantime
I never use it. I always remove it.
Jony, you forgot the Sanwa JLFD-TP-8YT Detachable Joystick Lever ?
I didn’t think it was in the same
category since it was a first party product.
There are some bat tops that are recessed like the Victrix balltop, such as the ALU series on FocusAttack. Will that be a problem with this new Link?
Not too sure I would have to test
It will work, but it will be obnoxious to correctly grab the bottom shaft and pull up with the bat top blocking half of it. It's the same on the original links. The best way to get around this problem is to super glue the brass fitting adapter into the bat top where it's even with the lip. That way the bat top is not covering half the link when you're trying to grab it.
But wouldn’t this make the height of the bat-top way too high from standard?
@@jonyfraze actually, it puts it to almost exactly the same height if you do it correctly. The clear bat top you showed in the video is taller by default. You do have a tiny bit further throw distance to a taller stick, but you can nullify that by using a larger actuator. So you would maintain a stock throw distance or slightly tighter. I use half-inch staff extenders with bat tops and oversized actuators to make up for the difference. It feels really good to have a tall stick.
@@ForeverWinter1812 Yeah, the recess of the aluminum battops make it kinda annoying to take off a Link, which is why I asked. Looking at this, the groove for your fingers to lift up to disengage the lock seem to be further down the shaft so it might be a lot easier than with the original Link.
I got mine for JLF silent version, will this work? Also, the dust cover doesn't fit because the Link Ex Groove is wider than Sanwa shafts, but how can I find ones that fit?
You have to use the dust cover that fits the Sanwa stock shaft covers. All the arcade parts stores have them.
@@jonyfraze Ah yeah. I just noticed that my JLF was supposed to come with both a dust cover and a shaft. Thanks!
i have to buy just the link ex groove or also the Phreakmods LS-32 Base both together??? :c
the stock ex groove fits sanwa levers, if you have a seimitsu lever youll need a new base that is sold seperately.
I'm wonder if it can be used in a crown 309 levers
Unfortunately it’s not compatible with anything besides JLF and Hori Hayabusa
I'm assuming if you have an original link and want to upgrade, it's just a direct swap without needing to swap the bottom portion of the old Link?
same question
Should be.. even the Victrix Link2 uses the same exact bottom piece as the official Link
@magnegro @supersanic Correct. The base is exactly the same.
@SirCharles Actually it’s a little different. From my testing you can put an original link shaft on a Link 2 base but not vice versa.
will the link quick connect work with standard victrix?
Yeah it does actually
Would this work with the qanba joystick?
If the Qanba has a Sanwa JLF (like the Obsidian and Pearl) then yes.
Is the shaft shorter than the sanwa's stock shaft? I've been thinking about getting this since it looks like it has a shorter throw.
I don’t believe so.
Hmm, will this work on premium sanjuks v3??
Don’t think so.
Does this still work with the OTTO DIY V2?
yes since you use the same shaft
I have the hori stick (from rap N) will this work??
Yes it works in the Hayabusa
@@jonyfraze Hope somewhere in europe this will arrive so i can pick up 2 of them (one for my xbox one and one for my ps4)
Really, the only tricky thing with Arcade joysticks is the eclip. Please make sure you've got some pliers at the ready. My first time modding I had the insanely stupid idea to mod a stick without taking it out completely and without pliers because "I can replace the actuator and spring without doing that, easy"... yeah... no... Nope ;p Took out the entire module, grabbed some pliers and was done within 5 minutes lol.
I installed a higher tension spring on my joystick and coupling this onto the base became a nightmare. I only recommend this if you use a stock or weaker spring.
im curious, what happens?
i just swapped out for a higher tension spring and had no issues
Nothing. It’s just as easy. I’m guessing it wasn’t the spring that was the issue
Can a non stock dust washer fit on this?
The diameter is the same as a stock sanwa lever with the plastic shaft cover on - if that helps.
@@jonyfraze thank you it does
I don’t know what it is with these things, after so many hours they do not wana release to swap out.
I use mine daily and haven’t ran into that issue.
Same. The old ones had a problem with the spring inside the link coming out. The groove fixed that by using a captured spring.
Does anyone know if these will work with seimitsu joysticks?
They make a Seimitsu specific one
Would this work in a Korean lever?
No unfortunately
@@jonyfraze how 'bout a seimitsu?
