Because open world games like skyrim are terrible glitchy messes that fall apart in front of you, yet people praise them and buy them over and over again excusing their unforgivable technical state! The idea is that people with those other hobbies will be better able to draw outside inspiration from them and come up with fresh ideas, whereas those who mainly play video games will try to improve on things that already exist. It's a respectable approach, but I do think there's also value in having a healthy knowledge of the medium and its contemporaries.

Finally, yeah, the trilogy remastered seriously look like someone just took whatever assets they had in the files without making sure they would fit the artstyle of each game. Horrible, lazy, cheap.

I don't understand why putting water everywhere is considered "realistic". Sure, most animators couldn't make decent water textures/physics for a very long time, but there are channels on RUclips that are literally just recreating water in computer animation programs, so now it shouldn't be that hard. In the case of GTA SA that you mention it doesn't even make logic sense since Los Santos is supposed to be dry as heck.
