  • Some NFL teams are really bad for a season, but some just stay bad for a long time. We look at the ten worst three-year stretches for an NFL team during the Super Bowl era.
    • The Ten WORST NFL Team...
    Explanation of C-Score:
    C-Score is a metric created by this channel to assign an overall value to a football team. It takes a team's:
    -Results, including standard and Pythagorean W-L record
    -Performance, including game control and play-by-play production
    -Quality of opponents, specifically performance level against opponents
    and distills all of that into one cumulative and comparative score reflecting the context of the season in question. When applicable, a team's playoff performance is also included.
    A C-Score of 0 represents an average football team, whereas anything above 0 represents an above average team and anything below 0 represents a below average team.
    A team's record is important, but not always indicative of C-Score. An 11-5 team can rate higher than a 13-3 team or lower than a 9-7 team. Not all records are created equally.

    Why the fuck are the 2015-2017 Browns not on here?! They only won 4 games during that stretch!

    • @SgtHolton
      @SgtHolton Месяц назад +5

      Most of it is that the Browns got comically unlucky in that stretch and played in one of the tougher divisions in football in the AFC North. The Browns' point differential over those 3 years is bad, they were getting outscored by about 9 points per game over those three years, but the teams near the top of this list were being outscored by like, 14 points or more per game. The 76 Bucs were outscored by 20 points a game, for example, the 2009 Rams by 16 points. Combine that with the fact these teams had easy schedules and easy divisions (The NFC Central the Bucs played in was awful, the NFC West the Rams were in from 07-09 might be the worst division ever) and you get a list like this.
      Realistically, the Browns from 2015-2017, by point differential, should've had about 11 wins in that stretch. They likely should have had at least 2 or 3 more wins than 4 just by luck but they had an abysmal 1-5 record in OT over those three years, and went 2-9 in games decided by a field goal or less. The 2007-09 Rams were actually just that bad, 6 wins was about how many they should have had over a 3 year stretch and they hit their middle estimate by getting 6 wins. The Browns were in typical fashion, the Browns and could not catch a single break.

    Great stuff. In addition to doing a best 3-year runs, would be cool to see the best 3 maybe 5-year runs that teams had but did not make it to the super bowl even once.

    Wrong, the 2015-2017 Browns were horrendous. In the 2016 + 2017 seasons, they only won one game combined. I suffered through this ineptitude, so I know this is the worst football ever played at the NFL level.

      Add on the 2015 season and they only won 4 games in a 3-year span. Crazy to think that just the year before in 2014 they almost made the playoffs and were 7-4 contending for the division before it all came crashing down. It’s like that late season collapse just caused everything else to crumble in the following years.

    Great job making the St. Louis Rams number one. The Rams brought St. Louis both the best and the worst of the NFL to St. Louis. I followed all the St. Louis Big Red years from 1960-1987 and they had a couple near misses almost playing in the NFL tite game in the 1960s prior to the Super Bowl but otherwise never won a playoff game. The Greatest Show on Turf Rams were the best St. Louis football but also brought years of the worst football ever. St. Louis could not agree on an all football stadium location on the Big Red due to conflict between St. Louis City and County over new stadium location. St. Louis did build though for the Rams and were prepared to build again but Stan Kroenke wanted the large TV market of L.A. even after NFL Relocation recommendation they remain in St. Louis and a failed NFL owner approval vote on moving but Kroenke signing an indemnifcation agreement to compensate NFL owners in the event of any St. Louis lawsuits why enoough owners swung their votes. St. Louis should have received an expansion team. Attendance was not the issue but there was drop-off having the worst team in the NFL and perhaps even in the history of the NFL.

    Honorable Mention:
    2007-09 Kansas City Chiefs
    10-38 over three seasons, and it got so bad that in 2009, some home games were blacked out locally. We're talking about Arrowhead Stadium, which has been a nightmare for opposing teams to play in since the 90's.

    • @cccproductions2019
      @cccproductions2019  Месяц назад +1

      They came in at around -61, bad but not historically bad. That's crazy though I was in Kansas City in 2008 when they beat the Broncos. Not at the game, mind you, but from what I could gather Chiefs fans were at their normal peak passion. To think they could have blackouts is nuts even when the team wasn't anything close to good.

    You forgot to mention Earl Campbell among Houston Oilers Hall of Famers from 1982-1984. Also, how close did the Detroit Lions in the aughts and the Cleveland Browns in the tens come to making this list, including the only winless seasons of 16 games? The Lions had a Tampa Bay Bucs style stretch in the decade I mentioned, mostly due to poor decisions by Matt Millen. Finally, OJ Simpson was denied a fair opportunity to run more during the Bills' stretch until Lou Saban came to the rescue.

      @cccproductions2019  Месяц назад +3

      What an odd one to miss ha. Seven Hall of Famers it is then.
      07-09 Lions were -78, 15-17 Browns were -73, so fairly close.

      @@cccproductions2019 yes strength of schedule gets overlooked. And while the 2017 Browns were a very bad team they were tremendously unlucky as well - should have been a 3 or 4 win team by point differential.

    The 1968 Bills could have been in that bad 3-year stretch. They went 1-12-1, scored 199 points and gave up 367. The only good thing to come out of that season was getting OJ as the #1 draft pick.

    Cowboys 2000-2002
    Three consecutive years of 5-11!
    Won 5/6 games vs WSH
    Played the Houston Texans in the 2002 season opener. AND LOST!!
    The result of bad drafts, free agency, injuries, and of course mismanagement by GM Jerry Jones

    #4 HOU 1971-1973
    Bud Peterson, great for some sound bites
    Most notable for a MNF game at the Astrodome against the Raiders. The Oilers were getting their asses kicked and the camera caught a disgusted fan in the stands. He made his feelings known by letting the TV audience know the Oilers were “number one in the nation”

    Q: What do you think of your team’s execution?
    Coach: I’m in favor of it
    Folks overlook that the expansion Buccaneers were in the NFC Championship by 1979
    Why they couldn’t build on that?
    Their owner Lou Culverhouse was a cheap SOB, they traded away draft picks (such as ones in 1983), and lowballed Doug Williams to where he went to the USFL
    It wasn’t until the mid 90s when coincidentally the owner died and the Glazers took over is when the Buccaneers became respectable and ended up winning a Super Bowl in 2002
